Satellite A300-1MW - BIOS update instructions

Hello.

I decided to upgrade the BIOS on my Toshiba Satellite A300 1MW
I found something like this http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/faq.jsp?FID=TRO0000000b07 but I can not find Satellite A300

After you download the updated BIOS Toshiba site and unzip it I have something like this:

What should I do now?

Hello

The BIOS update should be run from Windows System.

Have you tried that?

  • Update BIOS on Toshiba Satellite A300-1MW

    Hello.

I have Toshiba Satellite A300-1MW with version 3.5 of the BIOS. Can I upgrade to version 1.7 which I downloaded from the Toshiba site?
    Whay I want to do?
Because I have a lot of problems with this laptop. For example:

    (1) slow loading on the compatibility mode system
    (2) when I put the AHCI mode and reinstall the drivers SATA then loading is faster, but I have problems with the critical error

I don't know what to do :/ Maybe I have bad drivers (it is not possible because all the drivers are of the Toshiba site) or maybe I didn't install drivers (there are many drivers on the Toshiba site, I don't not download and install all the)

Can someone write a list of the drivers I need to install?

Thanks in advane and have a nice day.

    Yours,
    Tralla

    Hello Tralla

As I see you have already posted a thread with the same question and I wonder that you ask the same question again.

You have these problems, because you didn t install WXP correctly. If you want to have many preinstalled WXP and use with full speed use the AHCI settings in the BIOS and load Windows XP Home edition with all SATA drivers.
After having this laptop will run fast and you won't have problems BIOS update should not be done at all.
This theme is very often discussed on this forum and please take some time and check this forum on the installation of Windows XP Home edition using the SATA driver.

    Good bye

Where are a lot of drivers on toshiba site but I don't want to install them all because some of them are unlesses.
They are only my computer slowly.

Thanks in advance and have a nice day.

    > Where are a lot of drivers on toshiba site but I don't want to install them all because some of them are unlesses.
    Funny... I doubt that. ;)
Why do you think that should Toshiba offer drivers that they are not needed?

To be honest, I can't tell what drivers are missing because the screenshots are not in the English language.

In your case I would visit the Toshiba driver download site. Download and install each driver and tool that you can find for your laptop model. It's really important. Otherwise, things will not work properly. They do not slow laptop because they are needed.

    Hello!

On your BSOD, you can search the Knowledge Base Microsoft for this question. You can find good descriptions how to solve problems.
I searched for you and founded this interesting link:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/314063/

As for the other problems I can say not easy to understand because s he s is not English but I think that the reason for this is the BSOD so try to solve this first.

  • Satellite L40 - 13G: Bios update is not on Vista SP1

I have a Satellite L40 13 G and the latest Bios update refuse to update.

I'm trying to update my BIOS because the laptop freezes randomly in time and I have problems of "graphic design" where the lag games where there is no form of explosion such as gunshots or a bomb.

There are no instructions, not in the exe and certainly not on the screen. If I didn't know how Flash a BIOS I would certainly not choose the .bin BIOS file in the directory between all DLL files.

    Thank you
    Yahweh.

    Hello Jako

Can you please tell me what your problem is now? What questions are you writing about?
If I understand you well you have correctly updated the BIOS. Am I right about that?

And what now? What do you mean?

  • Satellite 1130 Z24 BIOS update problem.

I have download the proper file, but saves it as tw30170w.rom. How do I run it? Windows does not recognize it.

    Brian

    Hello
I would try it with the traditional Biosupdate.

    Download bios here-> http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com

Watch "Support & downloads", click on "Download Bios" a choose your model

    How to upgrade the BIOS

    Satellite 1130

1.) extracted the zip file containing the BIOS upgrade to a temporary folder.
2.) insert a 1.44 MB diskette formatted in the floppy drive.
3.) Execute the file *.exe extracted to the temporary folder. Follow the instructions on the screen. A BIOS update diskette will be generated.
4.), make sure that the laptop is plugged into the sector.
    5.) turn off the laptop.
6.) place the floppy disk containing the BIOS upgrade in the floppy drive.
7.) turn on the laptop with the F12 key.
8.) the BIOS boot menu appears. Select 'Removable Device', 'USB Floppy Drive' or the diskette symbol using arrow keys. Press "enter".
9.) the Notebook will start from the BIOS upgrade diskette.
10.) the BIOS update will start automatically.
11.) after a few minutes the laptop turns off automatically, remove the disk and do a restart. If it does not then remove the disk and turn off the system and return to restart the laptop.

  • Satellite L40 - 14Y Bios Update with HARD drive empty

    I need to update the Bios of my Satellite L40 - 14Y / PSL48E-01F01UGR of Version 1.60 to 5.50 (for Windows XP). The HARD drive is _ * authorized/empty * _.

My problem: the 'solution' as given

    [Http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/faq.jsp?z=234&service=EU&from=faq_selection&CFID=B IOS & FID = TRO0000000b07]

is unreasonable/erraneous. The instructions provided in this site for the "traditional update: BIOS is updated using a floppy ' lead 'procedure 7" for a Satellite L40.

7 procedure is however simply: copy the 5 files, such as listed in the respective "bios - 20080617131457.zip" zip file on the disk ("+ extracted the zip file containing the upgrade of the BIOS to a formatted floppy + '). This disk is - of course - _ * bootable * _ and its usage with the error message "NTLDR" not found as shall be provided.

We know a solution to this problen other than the installation of an operating system for the current object of updating the Bios from an operating system?

Additional note: the attempt to install the 5.50 Bios by running winflash.exe (which is the single executable in "bios - 20080617131457.zip") failed because it "does not in DOS mode. But he could start with a few other disk started micro operating system, such as, for example, Caldera back. We know something about that? The statement: "run the *.exe extracted to the temporary folder. .... . A BIOS update diskette will be generated"as given for other than blackness L40 laptops means that a * _bootable_ disk is"generated ". Other laptops with the same Bios 5.50 as the L40?

    Hi jetztkommich,

Don t do so complicated: anything that can be downloaded from the Toshiba site, you will find. If there is that only a basic Windows Update the BIOS, you can run the update of the BIOS under Windows. I think that s easy to understand.

As Al - Ex worte, you can try the update on a Windows disc packed with bart PE.

  • Satellite Pro M30 Bios Update

    Hello

I have a satellite pro m30 and I would like to make a bios update. Utility hardware Toshiba says that my bios version is 1.4. The existing updates see 1.2, 1.6, but it says nothing about 1.4.

    Should I take 1.6?

    Any help?

    Thank you

    Hello

It might be possible that the BIOS version 1.4 is the version of BIOS default manufacturer for this model.

In my opinion you should take the 1.6 version because it is the most recent and it may be necessary!

    Here is the link: http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com
go to Support & Download - Download BIOS - choose your M30 SP and click for the Description of BIOS for more information!

  • TR/agent.1220467 detected as I ran that Satellite A100 PSAA2E BIOS update file

I was about to update my BIOS Toshiba laptop Satellite A100 PSAA2E on-site official (I downloaded the update file and unpacked to run it):
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/innovation/download_b * ios.jsp? service = EU
When my antivirus (Avira Antivir Personal) has detected a TR/agent.1220467

Of course, I stopped everything, asked to remove, Avira have another full scan, it was deleted again and restarted my PC.

I am always very careful with what I download, but as I trusted blindly the official site of Toshiba as being safe, I don't run a virus scan on the file update and stupidly flat it once it has been downloaded.
HOW CAN TOSHIBA HAVE INFECTED FILES TO UPDATE HIS SITE? This is really unacceptable.

    And now how I will:
    1. ensure that this virus is gone for good?
    2. switch to update my BIOS knowing that it is not safe to do?

    Please help me!
.. .and make sure that this file to update the BIOS is not infecting hundreds of other users!

    Hello

Don t worry buddy there is no virus
The BIOS file is safe and I guess that your virus scan recognized the file as a virus because of the similar application procedures

First of all you should not update your BIOS if your laptop works well!

Second, you must disable all 3 rd party applications like virus, firewall, malware, software software of scans, while the BIOS update!
These tools can affect or interrupt the process of updating the BIOS and the laptop cannot!

You know that the update of the BIOS is a sensitive technique and if something goes wrong during the update, then you will not be able to power the device!

  • Satellite A300 - Graphics Driver update needed

    Hello

I am writing this hoping someone from Toshiba will be able to help me to find and update for laptop Satellite A300, short model: PSAJ4E.
I am running Windows 7 (64 bit) and Ubuntu 10.04 (Lucid Lynx) on another partition.

I noticed I was encountering problems more often because of the graphics card is not not to date.
I am looking for an update for the ATI Radeon HD 3650 series.
I checked the AMD for and to update, but it seems that most cell phone manufacturers do not want to distribute updates. They had however an update for the ATI Radeon HD 3xxx series in December 2010, but the following comment wrote:

Following books are not compatible with this version: *.

All laptops launched after this version of the driver
Portable computers compatible switchable graphics card using Intel® chipsets.
    * _Toshiba® portable (please contact the laptop OEM for support of the drivers for these books) _ *.
Sony VAIO® Laptops (please contact the laptop OEM for support of the drivers for these laptops)
Notebooks from Panasonic® (please contact the laptop OEM for support of the drivers for these laptops)

This comment is in the following link: [AMD | http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/AMDCatalyst1012ReleaseNotes.aspx]

    And before someone sent it to me in the updated drivers from Toshiba on the following link: [Toshiba | http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_driver_details.jsp?service=EU&selCategory = 2 & selFamily = 2 & selSeries = 153 & selProduct = 781 & selSho rtMod = 697 & language = 13 & selOS = 30 & selType = all & yearupl = DST & monthupload = & dayupload = & useDate = null & mode = all Machines & search = & action = search & macId = & country = all & selectedLanguage = 13 & type = all & page = 1 & ID = 68813 & DISO = 30 & driverLanguage = 42]

I checked and the update on the Toshiba site is the previous update... it has the * version 8.634.1 * and AMD is at version * _8.801_* with their AMD Catalyst 10.12 software suite.

I know laptops are not updates as much as a normal desktop pc, but it would be nice to receive updates that came out for the products that we bought.

If possible could someone direct me, so that I can get the driver for Windows and Ubuntu?

    Kind regards

    Marc

    > I checked AMD for and to update but it seems that most cell phone manufacturers do not want to distribute updates...
    Do you know why?

For example, I have the Satellite A300 PSAG8E and use it with Windows XP Home edition and Win7 32-bit dual boot and everything works perfectly.

  • Satellite P20-801 BIOS update

    Hi all

I have a question about updating the bios on my Satellite. I got it off ebay a few months back, reinstalled the OS and now try to update the drivers, bios, firmware dvd - rom etc.

I tried to download the update of the bios for my laptop (PSP26E-02V79EN) and according to the toshiba site, the latest available bios is version 1.10. It is very strange, as the bios I have installed is version 1.4. It's what the real Phoenix bios and the Toshiba Diagnostic tool says. How can this be?

Also, does anyone know if it is possible to reflash the bios with the original bios Toshiba, rather than the one Phoenix? If so, could you please tell me how?

    Thank you very much

    Hello

I have P20 over two years, and I've never updated the BIOS so far. The device works without problem. It is not necessary to install the new BIOS just if you find that some update is available.

You are right about the BIOS on P20. This is Phoenix one. As far as I know, it can not be exchanged with Toshiba one. If you want more information about this, contact the customer Service of your country partner.

Please check the last BIOS update on http://www.toshiba-tro.de/subpage/bios.html

  • Satellite L40 - 12K - BIOS update failure

    Hi people,

It is the second Toshiba laptop, I've managed to screw up. I don't know why, but it seems that Toshiba is especially prone to spectacular failure of BIOS.

This laptop (Satellite L40 - 12K, short model PSL40E) has a bios made by FRIEND and Toshiba has an update on its Web site for windows that uses the tool of WinFlash.exe made by ASUS.

The tool only works for 32-bit operating systems, and I had installed a 64-bit version of Windows, I could not pass the laptop.

Then I thought: we will try to update the bios from MS-DOS, using a bootable flash drive!

I went to the ASUS ftp site and downloaded the latest AFUDOS (2.41). This is a special version of the afudos FRIEND tool, specially designed for ASUS.

I ran the tool under MS-DOS, and it will make sure the BIOS automatically confirmed that the binary file was compatible with the laptop model and automatically starts the process of flashing.

But it crash in the phase of "flash erase". He was stuck there for HOURS, so I turned off the computer and tried to turn it back on.

Not at all, the laptop won't turn. It does not even ANY SOUND. NO LIGHTS, NO NOISE, NO FAN, NOTHING.

    ABSOLUTELY AND COMPLETELY DEAD.

So, there you have it. I have flashed dozens of computers (servers, laptops, workstations, etc.) in my life, and I've only had TWO failures.

TWO of them were with Toshiba laptops. Geez, Toshiba is really the King of the failures of BIOS flashing!

    Hello

I would never try update the Toshiba BIOS with a BIOS from other support pages for computer laptop manufacturer
What to say; I found one from Toshiba victory of the BIOS and traditional BIOS Toshiba U.S. driver page:

    http://www.CSD.Toshiba.com

Maybe you could try to Flash the BIOS using this version of BIOS
If this is not possible, then only a service provider authorized Toshiba would be able to help you.

By the way: I've had three different Toshiba notebooks: A210, U400, and now Tecra A11.
The BIOS update has worked perfect for all series...
