Satellite A300-23F: would reocvery disc format my HARD drive?

I lost my windows recovery disk and ordered the recovery disc for my toshiba SATELLITE A300-23F that has windows vista.
For the moment, I have windows xp trial intalled on my laptop.
If I install windows vista from the recovery disk, it will erase all the data already on my hard drive, including partitions, or it will automatically move into diving C:

Thanks in advance.

Yes, the recovery disk would firstly format the whole HARD drive.
This means that all partition will be deleted, and that means you lose everything that was stored on the HARD drive.

Therefore, you must back up important data before you begin the recovery procedure.

Welcome them

    Welcome.

    Hi dude

Why you n check t your laptop battery part number and searching the Internet for some online stores that provides exactly this part?
Remove the battery from the laptop and check the numbers placed on the label which is placed at the bottom of the stack.

You will find all the info.

Otherwise I recommend that you get in touch with a local ASP and to order the battery there.

    Hello!

During the first 6 months after the purchase of my Toshiba, I recived a offers to extend my warranty from 1 year to 2 years. During the process of registratiopn, asked me to give the number of the contract that has been on my Bill.

I did not the above, because the company, which me Tooshiba Satellite A300-23F sold does not have the right number of the invoice. After that I have recived the contract number and I wanted to register again, but the page that appears have this window to put the number.
So I registered with tought this is already a long recording. But nothing more confused.
    It was the standard recording.

As far as I know Satellite A300 is supported for Win7. so I think that the entire series will be supported and not only some A300 models.

  • Can satellite-A300-23F - I install Windows 7 Ultimate instead of Win7 Premium

    Hello

I bought a laptop TOSHIBA which has the following model: Satellite-A300-23F (operational system is Windows Vista Home Premium)

I know that TOSHIBA offers an upgrade to Windows 7, but the problem is that they will provide me with Windows 7 Edition Home Premium that I don't want.

So, I think to buy a full version of Windows 7 Ultimate (DVD).

Will be no problem technique/software where I have remove the operating system of origin of the laptop and install Windows 7 Ultimate?

Furthermore, I used Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor and the result was positive.

    Please, I need your help

Yes, you can install Windows 7 Ultimate. There should be no technical problem. I also installed Ultimate instead of Home Premium.

  • Satellite Pro A40: Is it possible to format the HARD drive without disk

I am passing on a Satellite Pro A40 to a brother. It is in very good condition, but has slowed down over the years. I want to get rid of my data (I have on a new machine) and speed up the system by formatting the hard drive.

The machine didn't come with a disc for Windows XP, or a recovery CD (just a CD "tools and utilities"). I'm sure the drive HARD will be partitioned, and I can format the drive without such a disc.

If this is true, how should I do?
    Thank you.

    Hello

I can't believe that you do not have recovery media.
The laptop must be supplied with recovery CD, Tools & Utilities CD, and WinDVD.

    But back to your question;
If you insert a new HARD disk, you will need to use the Toshiba Recovery CD or the original CD of Microsoft Windows to install the operating system.
The new drive is not partitioned HARD and doesn't have any OS pre-installed!

If you n t have the original CD of Microsoft OS you can contact the service provider allowed in your country and you can order it.

    I hope I could help

  • MICROSOFT MS-DOS 6.22 AS WELL AS IMPROVED TOOLS 3 DISC GAME USED FOR FORMATTING MY HARD DRIVE?

MY COMPUTER HAS INSTALLED VISTA AND I WANT TO FORMAT MY HARD DRIVE AND RETURN TO WINDOWS WP

BACK is not involved in any part of this situation. You don't want to format a drive to be used with XP with BACK; you would format the drive within the XP installation routine instead.

General information about replacing Vista with XP:

    A. on a computer OEM (HP, Sony, etc.):

    1. go to the OEM Web site and find the XP drivers for your specific model computer. If there is no XP drivers, you can not install XP. End of the story. If there are drivers, download them and store them on a CD - R or USB thumbdrive. you will need after installing XP.

    2. check with the OEM - either since their technical support site, either as - to see if you will cancel your warranty if you do this. If void you your warranty, you make the decision.

    3. If the OEM supports XP on the machine, call them and see if you can qualify to demotion and ask them to send you a XP restore disc. This is by far the easiest and best way to put XP on the machine.

    4. if XP is supported on the machine but OEM does not have a disk to restore XP for you, understand that you will need to buy a copy of XP to your favorite online or brick/mortar store retail.

    5. also understand that you will need to do a fresh install of XP, so if you have any data you want back first.

    6. If none of the above applies to you because you can't run XP which return (see point 1 above), the computer of the machine and buy a running XP instead.

    B. on a generic/home computer built (of the non - OEM company)-you will need the drivers for all your hardware. See the second link below for more details:

You have a hard drive partition to do - but you would need to contact/see the FAQ from the hardware manufacturer (HP, Dell, Gateway, Lenovo, etc) to see if and how.

Otherwise - you might have to order (pay for possibly) the factory restore/recovery of the value of the manufacturer.

I need to format the hard drive but don't have the windows vista disc to reinstall, but have had the key code that vista was preinstalled do I have to buy a new drive for vista

    Hello

    How to reinstall Vista

Contact the manufacturer of the laptop computer and ask them to send you to vista recovery disks to reinstall the operating system back as it was when you bought it

they do it for a nominal cost of $

also ask them if you have a recovery partition on your hard drive to get back to the way you bought

you would normally press F8, F9, F10 or F11 or Alt + F10 or 0 to start to start the recovery process according to the manufacturer

Ask them of the exact key sequence

or borrow a vista microsoft dvd; not a HP, Acer recovery disk etc

Make sure that you borrow the correct 32-bit or 64-bit microsoft dvd to your computer

they contain all versions of vista

This is the product key that determines which version of vista is installed

  • Satellite P30: How to format the HARD drive and install a new OS?

I have a satellite P30 laptop with Windows XP. I plug myself a new OS (namely because I can't find my old recovery CD CD and OS) that I want to do a re-shape full of my system. Reason is that my system has been painfully slower and slower over the last year. I even updated my RAM to 512 MB standard supplied with the machine to 2 GB, but it seems to have had little or no effect. So my questions are:-

1] where can I get my hands on the restore CD that has all the drivers on this subject, and any recovery CD to reformat my HARD drive?
[2] in the order in which I will make this reformatting?
How can [3] after having bought an external HARD drive to keep files that I don't want to lose, I transfer those of before my re - format?

Any help will be greatly appreciated

    :-)

    Hello

You received with the laptop Toshiba Recovery CD! Am I wrong?
    So what s the problem?

Simply insert the CD and try to boot from this CD.
The restore CD contains all Toshiba drivers, tools and utilities Windows OS + additional software like Win DVD for example.
The installation will set the laptop to factory settings, but will also format the HARD drive!

Up to now, we come to the point 3; --> How do I save the data
If you have purchased a second HDD and connect it to the USB port and transfer all the necessary files on the second HDD
If you have purchased only the HARD drive, then you will need a USB HDD 2.5 case.

    Best regards

Can I send the laptop as collateral for a free replacement of the same disc?

Among other things, sometimes * the computer freezes * no option to manually turn off the laptop (I think it always comes from the same disk):
the screen stays fixed and 'Win Vista' does nothing comands.
same "ctrl + alt + delete" Task Manager does not. The disc indicator light remains lit, but itself no longer believes it works

    Hello

    > Can I send the laptop as collateral for a free replacement of the same disc?
If the authorized service provider can notice this problem too, you can get a new HARD drive for free. The ASP will order it and swap it out. It is a free procedure if your laptop is under warranty.

    > sometimes the computer crashes
The HARD drive is perhaps the reason for this?
Contact a service provider authorized giving them all the details and information. They can fix that also. :)

    Gaara_2k6,
Welcome to the responses of the Forums.  The short answer to your questions are Yes and no and no.

Depends on how you format the drive, it will delete everything on the drive.  Now, it may still be recoverable with a software specialist or moving to a data recovery company.

If you formatted your hard drive you would not be able to start to do anything, because there would be nothing on the startup disk.  With the Windows XP CD or with the recovery media provided by the manufacturer of the PC is the only way to reinstall Windows.
