Satellite A350-20s - advice and appropriate OS - Windows 7

Hi all...

I have ordered an A350-20s, (4gig RAM, T6400) and want to remove Vista to replace with Windows 7 but have some questions.

1, should I go for 32-bit or 64-bit?
2 if I go for 64-bit, that I need to update the BIOS?
3, I had a quick glance at the download page, I was wondering if the drivers and BIOS for Vista will be allowed to use for Windows 7?

Please contact your opinions.

Thanks in advance.

# I put t know for who would you use your laptop, but in my opinion, you must use 32-bit. Most offered are requested for 32 bit OS
# as far as I know, you do not
# many people here talked about well work under Win7 Vista drivers, but your laptop is / will be Win7 benefit so that it will be better to wait get und Win7 drivers

Before you do anything, please start original preinstalled Vista create recovery DVDs using Toshiba Recovery creator pre-installed utility.

    I have a Satellite A350-20s.
It is described in literature as having the possibility of adding an internal hard drive 2 "5 second and indeed it is a spot reserved for him...

The problem is that when I remove the cover to insert the hard drive there is no connector.

    So, how to do?

    Hello

Some of the units can be updated with a second HDD Satellite A350 and other laptop models. But this means that NOT all laptops offer the opportunity to upgrade
There are different A350 with different hardware specifications
All mobile phones support the same substantive coverage but not all motherboard supports a second HARD disk controller and the connectors.

Your A350 cannot be upgraded with a second HDD due to the different motherboard and the missing HARD drive controller.

  • Re: Satellite A350-20s - sound crackling with a loud high-pitched

    Hello

I have a problem with the speakers on the Toshiba Satllite A350-20s. When I turn the sound on all I get is a crackling sound with a very high-pitched. Seems to get by if I plug in external speakers but one have a similar problem if I plug in a microphone. Thin K that could be linked to the microphone on the chicony webcam works do not.

I've upgraded to windows 7, shortly after obtaining the laptop and so far have tried to download the new drivers for the web cam, but this does not seem to have helped.

Any ideas or advice more than welcome!

Have you noticed the same thing with the factory settings (installation of recovery the original image)?

  • Satellite A350: Highlight text, and then delete or BACKSPACE will not erase the text

I have a new Satellite A350. When I surligner highlight the text, then try to remove or back up it will not delete the text. This happens in the line URL, Windows Mail and Word.

The key SUPPR and button both work individually, but I'm used to being able to select lines of text, and then type on (or pressing delelte) it to disappear.

Now I can not delete text except by backspacing of the text.
Y at - it a setting I can change or is this a problem with the laptop?

    Thank you

Hmm, I had the same problem in Word from MS Office.
I solved this problem by using this work around:

-In the menu bar, select Tools, Options and then on the Edit tab.
-Click the box called "Typing replaces selection" sub + mounting options + and then click OK.

    Check if that helps.

  • Two questions on my satellite A350-20s

I bought the Satellite in June 09, and my problem after a year and a half to have the laptop.

I sent Toshiba Support on my problem. Basically, all started in January of this year and the laptop screen simply erased. The laptop was still active, but it just looked dead. So I restarted and each time two things would happen:

1 the time of when the laptop went dead is random, sometimes it will not load even at the Windows startup screen, other times it will last about 10 minutes, sometimes 30 minutes. (It was a struggle even to copy all my files on as it kept crashing!)

2 the screen sometimes turns off, you will get a random through a color screen or black line or it will be like a really random colors on the screen set.

Toshiba wants me to pay £80 books odd just to watch what comes, I do agree with.

Has anyone else had problems or can offer my advice at all?

    Hi Hiddenlooks
Your sounds of issues such as the graphics card / motherboard issue and unfortunately: in this case, you need to replace parts, but as mentioned by Akuma, it might be possible that it is cheaper to buy the new notebook that replaces parts

    3. in the installation of vista for the touchpad drivers, by Synaptics or ALPS (I think that's the name), the touchpad is quite lag. In other words, it is not smooth and seems to be less sensitive than without drivers. I uninstalled the drivers for the touchpad and touchpad returns to be very reactive.

Any help would be appreciated, soon.

    Hello

As you know Win7 is officially released and for the time being, you can try to use the Toshiba US assistance page beta drivers.
For each OS Toshiba must design and test the new drivers. For Win7 these drivers exist yet, just the beta drivers. If everything works well is OK and you will be lucky if it isn't... you know what I mean. :(

How is it that a laptop that isn't so old or so cheap does not have to be compatible with Windows 10?

How is it that a laptop that isn't so old or so cheap does not have to be compatible with Windows 10?

I guess that in this forum from a user to anyone will be able to answer this question, but from my point of view of a few each notebook / computer manufacturer must decide which models would get additional software support...
Toshiba released still many laptop models in a short period of time, and in my opinion that it is not easy to provide support for all series laptop... so somewhere it is necessary to make a clear cut...

But you can still install Windows 10 laptop and I am sure that the system will work perfectly, but probably some portable devices is not available due to lack of software...

  • Satellite A350-22D - cannot activate the network (Windows 10) wireless adapter

With Windows 10 Wi - Fi worked well. Suddenly three days it s active no more
FN + F8 does not work.
The switch in front of the computer or the other.
At startup, the computer recognizes the card and then turns off the front LED.

The card WiFi Intel 5100 AGN and pilots the latest work well.
I uninstalled and reinstalled but no result.
What can I do to get my Wi - Fi works again?

PS: when I've been upgraded to Windows 8, it had the same problem...

This old notebook was designed for Vista and support for Win7. No more than that.
FN + F8 is controlled by special tool developed for the feature FN keys.

As much I know Toshiba offers no update for this older model laptop.
Let's see if any other A350 owner has found a solution for this.

  • Satellite C660-171 - Bluescreen and cannot start Windows

    Hello

So I start my laptop the password set in get a DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL blue screen, then it starts initially on screen then I go to safe mode, then I still get a blue screen that says problem detected Windows stop!

So, how to move the stupid laptop is old only 2 days is there a way to restore to factory settings or uninstall certain things to try to fix? I'm not too computer savvy so any help would be appreciated

    > is it possible to restore it to factory settings
If you had read the manual you would know how to restore laptop to factory settings ;)

Still if you also get a bluescreen mode safe, that there seems to be a problem with the installation of the OS and you must restore it back to factory settings. Therefore, you can use the recovery disk as described here:

  • Satellite A300-20F - Bluescreen and cannot start Windows

    Hello
    I have A300-20F

I installed a new clean vista with my spare drive because I was taking dead bluescreen errors but today I took some of them... I had installed my all drivers updated.
now the situation is the following:

I can not open vista. When I try to open in safe mode it gives BSOD that I do not see what are these codes. I try to open with my spare drive, but it says firstfully: "windows is loadind files" then gives me an error:

    file: windows\system32\boot\winload.exe
    Status: 0 x 0000001
The selected entry could not be loaded because the application is missing or damaged.

What can I do now? I can't open anything now! Show me a way please... (he gave me a lot of mistakes, so couldn't write down them)

    Hi dunkerman,

If you can start t in Windows in safe mode I think some Windows files are corrupted or something went wrong during the installation of the driver

You wrote that you have installed a new clean Vista with your rescue disk. This means that you have used the Toshiba Recovery disk or a normal disc of Microsoft?

Usually, if you install Toshiba Recovery disk Windows all drivers and tools will also be installed because the disk contains a ready image of factory settings. So generally with these settings, everything should work fine then I recommend to test again with a recovery disk.

  • Re: Question for Satellite A350 - touch pad and webcam

    Hello

    I have a laptop Satellite A350D-122. I am 2 problems that I can't solve.
-At some point, the touchpad scrolling feature stops the operation. It just disable itself, and the only way to re-enable it is to restart the computer.
-L'image of the webcam is dark. It's as if there was no light in the room, the only thing that comes out are the sources of light. I tried to change the options, but nothing changes on the screen.

I tried to reinstall the drivers, but the stills of questions remain.

    Kind regards
    Philippe

    Hello

1.i would try an update of the touchpad driver. Maybe something messed with by the pilot or something else then the virtual scroll function stop working. You can download a newer version of Toshiba's official website:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > download drivers

After installation of the touchpad driver make sure that virtual scrolling function is enabled in the options of the control panel touchpad driver.

2.i think that s the perfect item for you:

  • Satellite A350-20s - built-in microphone has stopped working

    Hello

I was wondering if someone could help me? My mic has suddenly stopped working. I was away for two weeks and when I tried to use the microphone it no longer works. It was working perfectly before.

When I go into Control Panel and watch settings for the microphone, he said his assets. I also installed the volume on the microphone and checked if everything is muted. But as far as I could see everything fine.

If I test the microphone the sound bar still gray and the microphone is not any sound recording. I tried a few of the instructions I found online, but nothing helped.
I mainly use the microphone on web with Skype calls.

It is a very frustrating problem. I hope someone can help me. Thanks in advance.

    Hello

The built-in microphone is the webcam and is a part of it. Which means it would be recommended to reinstall the driver for the webcam. You can download the driver for the webcam on Toshiba website for your laptop.

Can send you additional information about your operating system? You use the preinstalled operating system from Toshiba or did you do your own installation of Windows?

    Hello
So you are 100% sure it s not cut?

Please try the Fn + ESC key combination
This enables and disabled the mute.
Also I recommend you to uninstall the audio driver.
It could be useful that the question would be related to a malfunction of its driver.

    Have you tried headphones?
