Satellite A50: Disappeared from Modem

Hello

I have a Toshiba Satellite A50, which worked fine for about 8 months now. Last week when I tried to connect internally by the internal modem, I suddenly had no answer.

Since then, the modem does not appear in Windows XP hardware Manager any more (not even in the?- as 'not recongnised material' category.) In the Configuration of remote access that I've used so far shows that "(deleted)".

I tried reinstalling the driver several times - that I received on the CD-ROM of the tools, but also a new on the Toshiba site. I also did a full restore of Windows via the two CD I received with the laptop. The modem still does not come back.

To me this clearly seems to be a hardware problem, but in case someone here has another suggestion, I would be very happy to hear it until I have to give my computer for repairs.

Thank you very much in advance.

Hello

I think you're right. If you did a cover of the entire system, it is not possible that this is a software problem. I think that your only chance is to take it to the service.

Good bye

  • Satellite A50 boot from the CD

    Hello people,

I have a blank hard drive and a WXP Pro CD in the optical drive
I want to install the new operating system, but it does not work at the start of the CD.

When I open the BIOS via the ESC key, I can only change the date; time and I can set a BIOS password. There are more options. ACPI Bios version 1.20

Even when I try it via by pressing C on startup: "insert the disk in the drive system. Press any key when ready"no boot from CD or by pressing F12 or F3 key... nothing...

Can someone help me please? :/

    Hello!

Have you tested different bootable disk? Maybe your Windows XP CD is noisy and the reader peut t read it.

Normally, you can change the boot order in the BIOS. Check the BIOS again maybe you have not seen the boot sequence.

  • Satellite A50 - message from system disk insert after replacing HARD drive

    Hello

I have an old A50 and the HARD drive comes with it's very slow and cracking now, so I'm trying to replace it with a new HDD - Hitachi travelstar 7200 RPM of 60 GB, with ATA interface.

I took the old HDD and put the new, then on A50 and press F12, and then insert the CD recovery and restored (installation) everything on the new HARD drive. Once it's done, I rebooted A50, but what I got is then a black screen with the message "Insert system disk..." Does anyone know what I did wrong? I got tired of it several times, but I got the same results...

    Thank you.

I think that Akuma is right.

On FAT32 and Windows 98 should define the active partition, and then it should work.
Then download a MS-DOS boot disk and burn it to a CD as Akuma has suggested. I tried it and it works :)
It is quite easy with Nero.

    Good luck!

  • Satellite A660 - Bluetooth problem - disappeared from the bar of the State etc.

    Dear all,

    frustrated newbie.

Bluetooth has disappeared from the system on my Satellite A660 tray and I can't work out how to get it back.
It worked a few months ago, but since I don't use it everyday,
I did not notice when he disappeared.

I tried the fsquirt.exe thing, but the icon opens a window that does nothing (it seems to me that bluetooth is off but I can't find where to turn it on and Fn + F8 does not work).

I have downloaded the driver atheros, which is extracted to a temporary folder and then does nothing.
I think I need to uninstall - reinstall but do not know how to proceed.

    Any ideas appreciated.

    arghh

All this is a bit complicated on your laptop. I assume that stick Toshiba BT (BT software) is always pre-installed on your machine. Can you please check?

Using the FN key combination you can toggle WIFI and BT. When you say that it does not work how to understand this? Can you turn on WLAN on/off? BT option IS missing? You can use the WLAN button placed between the keyboard and display (function keys)?

Please check such fundamental things in first and post more details. Later we continue to discuss reinstalling drivers.

Have you also tried removing the upper and lower registry filters? All the CD/DVD drive associated programs such as Nero, installation of filters in the registry and can cause such problems.

  • AirPort Extreme can disappear from the network

I have an airport Time Capsule 802.11ac 3 TB, implemented as my router, connected to a cable modem Comcast.  I also three units AirPort Extreme 802.11ac connected via an Ethernet cable and configure in Bridge mode.  The settings were all made with Apple AirPort Utility, using the default settings.  All devices are new, and have the latest version of the (7.7.7) package.

My problem is that one of the SSA keeps disappearing from the network.  The AP utility shows all devices, but unity of the 'room' is still "missing in your network.  When I restart the device by unplugging the, the unit seems to work fine for a little while.

Because the problem occurs on a unit, I think not that it is a question of ISP or OS.

Has anyone else had a problem like this, and understand you?

    It is not uncommon.

There is a real problem with apple DNS...

    What modem do you use?

Actual spending brand and model please... It is probably not related, but it is useful to know the complete network configuration.

Question I would like to change.

    1. your names are too long and contain spaces.

Use any short names, without spaces and pure alphanumeric characters. Names must be less than 10 characters... all names... both network name.

See Pondini for questions that arise with more long names... and that was before Apple changed network SMB.

    http://pondini.org/TM/C9.html

    2. the WAN port on the AC model TC and AE are not reliable.

In bridge, what do you do better move the connection to one of the LAN ports...!

    3. you have an unreliable ethernet cord or if it is installed in the wall a bad Jack which is down to... This happens especially in that self installed ethernet... and even the ordinary electrician has problems... sometimes wrongly wired a pair of broken. You should test all ethernet correctly and make sure have full gigabit connections.

    4. use static IP via both a dhcp on the TC and AE reservation jumpered on the internet tab. Least IP moves the less work THAT DNS must do to stay.

If you have still questions after.

  • Satellite A50-522 Powermanagement problem

    Hello

I am an owner of the Satellite A50 - 522 Centrino. A few days ago I reinstalled my laptop with an original Windows XP Professional, I do not use recovery CD. After that, I reinstalled all the drivers 'tools and Utilities CD-ROM.

Now, I have a problems with power management. When I put portable mij on MS (= battery) the speed of the CPU must get variable, which is work Centrino. If you do nothing, CPU speed must go down (around 800 Mhz), when you need the speed of the CPU (e.g. photoediting) the speed of the CPU must mount (1.5 ghz). But now, the speed of the CPU is continuous high (1.5 ghz, my battery is now empty without delay. The Toshiba Power Saver has the right setting. A reinstall of the drivers-chipset is not the solution, I tried.

Yesterday, I reinstalled my laptop once again, but now with the product recovery CD. Power management works very well. But I don't want to use the restore with Windows XP Edition family CD, I want to install my Windows XP Professional original with the right powersettings.

    What is the problem?

    Hello

You will need to install the Toshiba Power Saver utility. It can be obtained from the following web page:

  • Satellite a50: Quick Fix Engineering and Windows Update

I was wandering why some of the quick Fix Engineering published by Toshiba refer to problems in October 2003? for example, the most recent for my satellite a50 is http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_driver_details.jsp?ID=29405&OSID=10&drive rLanguage = 13 & selectedLanguage = 13 & driverCountry = 41 & selectedCountry = 0
that refers to a problem of October 2003 (http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/MS03-044.mspx)

I asked a similar question on this forum (http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=3131&messageID=9527#9527), but now I'm not so sure of the answer I received... Again, if I still have my Windows XP to update (from windowsupdate.microsoft.com) must I apply the miracle solution?

    Thank you. Hpop

    Hello

I put t know exactly how old is your device, but I know that at this moment, there is no SP2 and your device comes with SP1. Image designed for the contents of your device in a large number of QFES. As Tom says if you want to install Windows XP Home edition, you will probably use SP2. In this case, it is not necessary to install all QFE Toshiba site because they are already included in SP2. As you know, after installation of SP2, your device will be updated automatically.

  • How to configure the BIOS to boot USB on Satellite A50-110?

    Hello.
I own a Toshiba Satellite A50-110 and I have a USB bootable Flash drive, but I don't know how to boot from the USB key.
I guess I need to access and configure the BIOS. How can I do? Where can I get information on this subject? What are the steps to perform this task?

    TIA

    Hello

As far as I know in the BIOS cannot be configured anything. As much as I now on this old notebook you can use just USB floppy for boot drive (U key at startup), but not the USB flash drive.

Enter BIOS settings with the ESC key at first upward and check that all listed bootable devices.
