Satellite A50: What CD/DVD readers are compatible?

Hello

Since I had my A50 from 2 1/2 years I had intermittent problems with this DVD player. It has finally packed in and I need to replace the drive, so I can use the product recovery CD

I tried to find my computer's master/slave settings while I'm able to find a correct drive to replace it with.

Anyone know what the parameters are, or what kind of car I could use to replace it with
Thank you
Ollie

Check the page for the user 6 and 7

    Hello.

The combi CD / DVD writer on my laptop decided to give up the ghost.
In my view, there is a good choice of burners 'slimline' designed for portable computers out there, but I was warned that not all burners are compatible with all PC.

Apart from one obvious Mat * like one already installed, someone could you please recommend or advise the slimline burners will be compatible with Toshiba laptops, or better yet my model in general or at least advise what brands are known to be incompatible with computers laptop toshiba.

I would be extremely grateful for any help you could give. :)

    Thank you very much
    Steve.

You are right. Not all CD/DVD drive are compatible due to different master/slave/c-salt settings.

But I ve discovered DVD Super Multi Pinan could be compatible:

    -MATSU * A (UJ-841BTQ-A)
    -HLDS (GSA-4082N. ATAKN0)
    -Pioneer (DVR-K16TBA)
    -TEAC (DV-W28EA)

You can also order the compatible CD/DVD player with ASP in your country.
Guys might provide details which readers are correct.

  • What DVD players are compatible with Equium A60 PSA67E?

my question; What dvd players are compatible for an equium a60 (psa67e-001001en)?

background; I did a very stupid thing! while I was at the Japan and about 18 months after buying my a60 in the United Kingdom, the packaged dvd player. I replaced it with a teac dvd player and it worked like a dream! I threw the old disk (I think it was a matsu * has, but can't remember the exact model). in any case, I came home and had a little time on my hands, so I decided to set my machine and corrupted the windows xp registry.

Now, windows xp runs in the loop, I can't access and I need to wipe the hard drive and start again essentially. I put the recovery disk in, but the computer doesn't read him and desperately wants his wacky way to windows. I believe that it is not recognizing the teac drive that I used to replace the old. I think that if I put an original return type, the firmware can recognize the drive and I'll be back in business... or so I hope!

of course, all the other tips would be welcome too! Thank you.

work around? PS a work around, I thought so... copy the contents of the diskette of recovery on a hard drive (using my old computer) can change the current hard drive in my a60 with it... theory; When the computer detects the content during the start-up, it will install xp on another part of this drive and I have a working machine once again. could - this something like this work? any thoughts?

    Hello

Did you look in the manual of the user who is usually preinstalled on your laptop?

What external optical drives are compatible with the Acer Aspire One 722 with Windows 7 Home Premium OS.  I need to make the backup disks and install the CD software.

    Thank you.

More external ODD will work just make sure it's an external power source. This allows not to take a lot of power to the unit.

  • Satellite A50: What disk are supported

    Hello

my hard drive seems to be broken and I would change it.
Which hard drive I can use for my Toshiba Satellite series A 50?
The former was about 60 GB.

Is it difficult to change the hard disk laptop? I have experience with
    PC, but not with laptops.

The one who (HDD) should I buy?

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hello

I m an owner of the Satellite A50. It s unit a bit old but I used only as a portable backup and second.
In any case, I updated the notebook with 100 GB HARD drive! It works!
So I guess you can also use a 100 GB HARD drive, but please take a look at the HARD drive interface.
It is important that the HARD disk supports the good interface. To my knowledge, the HARD must drive supports improved interface IDE (ATA-6)!

  • Satellite A50: Engraver of DVD & CPU upgrade questions

Hi how far can upgrade my A 50 1.5 ghz centrino and Motherboard can't cos 1.5 dual-core is really not enough for me any more. I know there are a lot of problem on cpu upgrade but I need just to answer far?

I also change my DVD burner to +/-dvd burner, and how I can do it. I also heard that toshiba recalls batery and I saw my model of laptop also on this list.

    Hello

Unfortunately, but I don t think that the motherboard will support the new Dual Core CPU.
It is a technology simply different and you should also know that the CPU upgrade on laptops is not very easy as on the desktop PC.
AFAIK the A50 was delivered with different processors and must be compatible with the bus of 400 Mhz Intel Pentium M 1.5/1.6/1.7Ghz and bus of 400 Mhz Intel Celeron M 1.2/1.3/1.4Ghz.

Anyway, as far as I know Toshiba doesn't support updates and you will not find any official information about updates and upgrade problems.
I think that the biggest problem could be the highest temperature, BIOS and chipset compatibility. Furthermore it possible to some Toshiba tools such as energy saving does not work and the product overheats.

If you want to upgrade or replace the CD/DVD drive, so I recommend that you first contact the service partner Toshiba for devices compatible and taken in charge.
This is important because not all readers are supported by the BIOS.
Portable players are set to master/slave or C - salt that is why it is very important that you will buy a drive to right. Drive with bad settings is not recognized by the BIOS, and there is no chance to change the master/slave or c - salt settings!

    Now something of the battery:
Well, I read on the page Toshiba that only some laptops which were manufactured between March and May 2006 are affected.
I recommend to check this site Web from Toshiba of the FAQ for more details:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/generic_content.jsp?service=EU&ID=FAQ_BATTERY_EN

    I hope I could help

    Hello

I'm not sure but I think that the Toshiba DVD r /-RW / RAM (number P000399450) drive must be compatible with the Satellite A50.
It is also called DVD Super Multi drive, UJ-820BTJ6-A (G8CC0001S210)

I found it on this page:
    http://www.impactcomputers.com/p000399450.html

But generally the best way to control the compatible parts and devices is to contact Toshiba service partner in your country.
Here, you will get all Hamade on the right parts.

  • What games graphics cards are compatible with a Tosiba c655d-s5332?

I had problems with games trolling on the minimum graphics in the past and have asked for help to solve these problems. I found that my laptop (Tosiba c655d-s5332) has a very bad graphics card in it. I know that laptops are not very good with games, but I just want to make games like Skyrim and Assassin Creed 2 playable on minimal graphics. I'm looking for a graphics card that is pretty good with games and video streaming via YouTube, but not over the top. My price range is under or around $150. I've been looking around for graphics cards which are or are not compatible with my computer, but found no results. Nobody quite capable of that graphics cards that are still in my price range and are compatible? Even those who are out there?

    Hi Ben,

You can try to contact the computer manufacturing and check if they update laptop graphic card or if they can provide any of the add-on graphics card.

I suggest you look for in your favorite for this particular graphics card search engine.

    Hello

You need a compatible because different master/slave/c-salt settings.
I m not very well what drives could be supported, but in my user manual which was preinstalled on my laptop (unfortunately not P200) I could find a list of compatible drives. Maybe your manual contains a similar list

But if you won't find details of compatible media in you manual user then you may contact the service provider allowed in your country and could order these ODD.

  • Satellite A80-131: what CD/DVD player is compatible

    Hello

I need to buy a new DVD - ROM drive because my old is bad!
    I have a toshiba Satellite A80-131 with mati dvd - rom * a UJ - 831S.
I would buy another drive: toshiba, samsung, pioneer the suport of mati because * a (panasonic) is not very good. But what model is compatible with the old drive UJ - 831S?
Support does not provide this information to me.

I have a toshiba HD MK4025-GAS and I want to do an upgrade, but the
    model PA3406U - 1 HA 0 (100 GB 5400 MHz) is very expensive.
    Model MK is cheap.
But that model MK I buy with 100 or 120 GB?

    HI Ronai,

Any optical drive slim form factor fits physically to your laptop, but you'll hjave to make sure that you get with the correct connectivity. It will be either master or slave (and sometimes C/salt). This setting is normally carried out by the manufactrer reader and it is not easy to change later unlike the larger disks used in PC where you can return some small switches to change the setting.

To be sure, you can ask your local authorized Toshiba Service partner which models are fully compatible.

In regards to your hard drive, you can choose any hard drive manufacturer (the MK designation indicates a Toshiba drive) but I don't know if 100 GB is greater that the BIOS will allow you. I know that 80 GB working fine (I use a Fujitsu 80 GB HDD in my SA30) but I've never tried a higher capacity drive.

You may also like to consider a faster rotation speed. GAS from Toshiba records with the suffix are usually 4200 RPM, while those with a GAX suffix are quicker to 5400 RPM. MK8025-GAX is a good option.

    Kind regards

  • What CD/DVD drive is compatible with Satellite 1400-103

    Hello

I've been looking for A replacement Dvd Rom for my Toshiba Satellite 1400-103 and I can't find one.
Because she was so old so I was wondering if there is some other Dvd Compatible disks that I can buy for my laptop?

    Thank you

I think this CD/DVD drive could be compatible:

    -Toshiba SD-R2102
    -Matsu * a UJDA720 *.
    -TEAC DW-28TH *.
    -Toshiba SD-C2502 *.
    -TEAC DV-28-B34
    -Hitachi GDR-8081N-ATAB *.

All readers of this I found in the manual for the Sat 1400-103

PS: Operating instructions can be downloaded from the Toshiba page too ;)

  • What CD/DVD drive is compatible with the Satellite A10 S103

I use the laptop Toshiba Satellite A10 S103 and I am about to replace the CD/DVD-ROM drive of origin by a new who can also write CDs and DVDs.

However, I got a notice, that after the installation of the new DVD to drive the "IDE #1 error" message may appear. According to my knowledge, this error can be avoided by replacing the old disk with a new one which requires the same Primary/Secondary Master/Slave/cable select settings like old.

Can you recommend a drive of DVD - RW which could replace the old DVD - ROM drive and would work without any additional adjustment of HW?
The new DVD - RW drive should be similar to know
    [http://www.sonynec-optiarc.de/en/exhibits/slim-line-drives/ad-7540a.html].

However, I was not able to decide that if this device will be or does not work in my computer that I don't know the parameters of the original DVD.

My original Toshiba DVD drive information as follows:
    ' 1. ' "model SD-C2612
    2 "ROM worm." 1315
    3 'serial No.' 394N002659
    ' 4. ' 302 ' version number.

The computer is already out of warranty

    Thank you.

You are right. FDI #1 error is displayed because the BIOS doesn't recognize the new internal CD/DVD drive because of the wrong master/slave/c-salt settings.
Usually, these settings are fixed and cannot be changed on the external sides with another position of the rider.
The firmware controls the notebooks internal parameters ODD.
The use of ratings taken in charge and compatible is so very important.

Sorry, but I didn t find details of compatible CD/DVD players.
Did you look in the user manual of your laptop series?

In my manual, I found some info on my laptop-compatible players.
So maybe you are a lucky man and your owner's manual will provide useful information.
