Satellite A500 - 1 Win7 64 bit - BSOD appears - jmcr.sys crashes

Probably, you will think:
Once again someone with the jmcr.sys thing and probably you are already typing, telling me that I should update my drivers

All my drivers are updated (according to toshiba service station)
* I have updated my bios and driver of jmcr repeatedly *.
the last time yesterday

and in the last 20 minutes, I had 4 bluescreens
I am happy that I can write these lines at the present time without getting a blue screen
I already receive the bluescreens months... sometimes a few weeks without any problems and then it crashes several times a day again

accidents happen randomly, for example while I browse on the internet, or even just after the restart
with power supply and without

ATM, I can't find the card reader in the hardware Manager more (yesterday it was there, after you have reinstalled the driver)

I hope someone can give me a helpful answer and I don't think that it would be useful to reinstall the drivers for the 5th time

the other problem:
* from time to time my sound starts to jitter * (is that the correct English term?)
as if there are a few milliseconds of silence or lag every few seconds
This is the case in different music (wmp, vlc) players and different titles (legally downloaded and often played without any problems)... I tried the same thing with the songs of youtube or all sounds
occurs by using the speakers of my laptop, as well as external speakers

If you need more information ask: P

I hope that this expensive notebook will be reliable again in the future

  • Satellite A500 - 18 X - blue screen with error jmcr.sys

    Hi all

I have the Toshiba Satellite A500 - 18 X. I get several errors with a blue screen that is associated with a file called jmcr.sys, I used the recovery process, but the problem persists.

Can someone tell me what could be the problem? Is it a virus, a hardware malfunction or some drivers not up-to-date?

    Thank you

    Hello

If you have already used the recovery disk Toshiba it appears to be a malfunction of the equipment. I don't see a reason for a software problem, because the Toshiba Recovery disk restore factory settings and these settings are pre-tested by Toshiba

So most blue screens are related to defective RAM modules. You can test them using Memtest86. It is a diagnostic tool where you can download an iso image for creating a startup disk.

    Check this box!

  • Satellite A500 - 18Q - screen freezes and BSOD appears the screen

I bought my computer 3 weeks ago and I have a problem.
My computer froze or displays the blue screen. It happens randomly, without having to open any program.

Sometimes half an hour or an hour later as I start my computer or nothing happens.
    I have windows 7 home.

    I need help

Hmm BSODS can happen thanks to a software or hardware problem and therefore it is difficult to say what could cause this.
The A500 seems to be a new model of laptop and I doubt that the dust could be the reason for the temperature more high which could cause the BSOD.
However, you should check if the cooling modules are free of dust and it might be useful to clean using the can of compressed air.

In addition, you should check if your BIOS is up to date.
If this isn't the case,-> to update this!

  • Satellite C660 - Windows 7 64 bit BSOD after upgrade RAM

    Hi guys

    my laptop Specs: Satellite C660-1JG
    -Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium 64-bit (pre-installed, Toshiba-HDD recovery)
    -Intel® Celeron® Processor T3500
    -2048 MB of RAM DDR3 (800 MHz).

recently I increase my RAM to 4 GB (2 + 2 GB), since its installation, as soon windows7 64 bit beginning of loading, finished with BSOD. load BSOD Windows sometimes very well, but in a minute or two appears. I can confirm that it does not read the total RAM of 4 GB, I checked while the laptop was about 2 to 3 minutes ON. then I go out 1 RAM stick laptop is fine, no BSOD!

so question raises if the RAM is at fault, incompatibility etc, but I have the dual boot OS and other OS is Ubuntu 11. who reads the 3.84 GB RAM and without crashing or BSOD or any question.

Then I installed Windos 7 32 bit to see if that still has problems with 4 GB of RAM, but NO, 32 bit reads RAM 4 GB (usable 2.8 GB). without crashing or BSOD with 32, only problem with windows 64-bit version!
I checked the specification it says Max RAM 4 GB Ram and yes it supports 4 GB RAM with Linux and win7 32-bit.

I tried to update BIOS version 1.20 (currently on 1.40), but still got error: Firmware has no support of Flash (AFUWINGUI).
I was wondering if any of you can guide me to the right direction.
    Thanks in advance
    Concerning

I can't say for sure, but perhaps BSOD due to a compatibility issue.
What RAM you bought as add-on (brand and specification)?

  • Satellite A500 - Windows 7 32-bit or 64-bit?

I just crossed on Satellite A500 first installation, I got a question asking if I wanted to load 32-bit or 64-bit, didn't know that one to choose so I went for 32 bit, all thoughts of one who is suitable for load and the reasons why.

    Hello

I think that it is solely based on the RAM you have: how much RAM is installed on your Satellite A500?

Normally, 64-bit is important if you have 4 GB of RAM installed, because a 32-bit OS can handle up to 3.2 GB of RAM. So, with 4 GB or more RAM, I would choose the 64-bit version. ;)

I ve checked the Toshiba download page, and as I can see, your laptop model is not supported for Win7 64 bit. It is supported for 32-bit only. So please can you us the drivers you are using for 64 bit OS?

  • Satellite A500-19 x - blue screen suddenly appears in Windows 7

    I have the satellite a500-19 x,
There is a problem in every time and every day when I'm working.
All of a sudden the windows stopped a few moments and then blue screen and restart windows.

    Hello

It would be interesting to know, you have the code BSOD
I've read many threads on BSOD and in most cases, it s about the graphics card driver or other drivers who seems to be some trouble with Win 7.

First you need to update the BIOS and Windows 7, then you should try updating the graphics card driver.

    Good luck

  • Satellite A500 - 17 X - Webcam does not appear in Device Manager

    Hello

I'm looking for more assistance with a recently purchased A500 - 17 X running on Windows 7 64 bit. The Webcam worked when buying, but has suddenly stopped working. Web camera software is up-to-date with the latest download from the Toshiba site, but returns the message at the launch:

"Web Camera initialization failed" Please, you check the camera device & restart the application or computer.

I checked the Device Manager under Imaging for webcam devices & is not listed (it's my own laptop; I also have a Toshiba laptop provided by employer & when the webcam is listed on that one, so I presume that it must appear in the same place!

Does anyone have any suggestions? Would it be a bad connection to the webcam itself, i.e. a warranty issue, or is there a software solution to check if the webcam is actually present? I scan for new hardware & nothing new is detected.

    Thanks in anticipation!

    Jon

In my opinion, you should try to reinstall the driver for the webcam. Remove preinstalled software, restart your computer and reinstall the latest version available.

Best test you can do is to reinstall the recovery image. with factory cam settings should work fine again.

  • Satellite A350 and Win7 64 bit installation

My Satellite A350 (PSAL6A) after only 6 months has crashed with a fatal hard drive.

I ve decided to drive that can reach up to the hard to something a bit faster (5400 RPM) and finally get rid of the dreaded Vista.
I m upgrade to Win 7 (64) but I m somewhat suspicious of some of the web sites offering Toshiba drivers
Y at - there a site where I can download all the drivers I need just to Win 7 and not need to sort the hundreds of others who seem to be available.

    Your question confused me completely.
I'm using the Toshiba years download page and find the right drivers is pretty easy. Choose the right portable model and operating system you want and you will have the complete list of all available drivers.
Why is it so hard for you.

Have you tried the serial number or the automatic detection on http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/generic/SUPPORT_PORTAL/?

I installed all the drivers to Toshiba support, but I have 2 problems.
the first is that sometimes my screan does not open while the laptop is open and functioning. I know that his work because when I plug another screen his everything is ok.
the other problem is that I have an unknown device (ACPI\TOS6205)

    Can someone help me?

    Thank you

    > the first is that sometimes my screan does not open while the laptop is open and functioning properly
It is still problematic to discuss problems that sometimes occur. When this happens you can see Toshiba welcome screen or hear sounds of windows?
    > another DIF, is that I have an unknown device (ACPI\TOS6205)
I think that you need to install the bluetooth drivers.

  • Re: Several problems on all new Satellite L750-EZ1 (Win7 64 bit)

    Hi all

I bought a L750-EZ1 last week and it does not work very well.

Sometimes when starting, already at the stage of loading the bios, the screen is white/transparent gray with a black stripe in the middle. If I wait, Windows loads but the screen remains like that. Cannot do anything but force shutdown by pressing the power button for more than 3 seconds. Sometimes, it charges the same way other charging very well, but then...

ALWAYS, the laptop is already loaded and running under Win7 Home Edition 64-bit (OEM OS to come with the laptop already installed), the screen goes black, the computer crashes completely (no response to anything else > 3 seconds on the power button to close) and the fan starts to run at high speed.
It happens always, sometimes before 1 minute after the start, others after several minutes. No rule. The basis of the computer is NOT hot when this happens.
I have updated drivers through the Toshiba support website and no change.

If would be nice to have help.

    Thanks in advance

On this virtual path, it is not easy to say what the problem is here.
What I can say is follow: set the BIOS to default settings and reinstall the OS using HARD drive recovery facility. Check the functionality with the settings without changing anything. If the same will happen again and again, that I recommend to bring the laptop to your dealer and ask for replacement.

How much time do you have this laptop now?

  • Satellite A500 overheating on 64-bit

    Hey,.

I just upgraded to 64-bit and my GPU temperature was very high, around 60 degrees Celsius.
He goes up to 107 when I start a game and died.

When I had 32-bit running that I never had this problem, I could play a game without the laptop computer overheating.
I thought at first it was a problem with the drivers, or that im missing something.

I've updated the bios, every other driver that I could find for my laptop computer and repeatable reinstalled the drivers for video card without change.

Now, I tried to find how to change the fan settings, I noticed the fan starts to run fast enough to hear at 55ish degrees and I want to decrease the aswells parameter to increase the speed of the fan.
I tried Speedfan, and like 5 other programs where none of them worked.

I'm also afraid if I just reinstall 32 bits that I'm having the same problem, because there might be some kind of driver or utility, that I lost in the format.

Is there a way I can fix this? Is there a Toshiba utility or something that I might have missed?
The A500 is not compatible with 64 bit? The settings of the fan can be changed?

    Thanks in advance

    Hi dude

What graphics card drivers did you use?

As far as I know the use of the original 3rd party drivers (nVidia, ATI) might cause this issue because the drivers don t is supported on an overheat protection.

The point is that these drivers are not changed. Driver Toshiba of the own GPU a bit modified, updated laptop performance GPU usage would be pointed down to reduce the dissipation of the heat that helps reduce the temperature

If the use of drivers Toshiba GPU really is essential to ensure that the GPU overheats not

Also, please check if your cooling modules are free of dust could affect the movement of air and this could lead to a higher temperature
