Satellite A500 overheating on 64-bit

Hey,.

I just upgraded to 64-bit and my GPU temperature was very high, around 60 degrees Celsius.
He goes up to 107 when I start a game and died.

When I had 32-bit running that I never had this problem, I could play a game without the laptop computer overheating.
I thought at first it was a problem with the drivers, or that im missing something.

I've updated the bios, every other driver that I could find for my laptop computer and repeatable reinstalled the drivers for video card without change.

Now, I tried to find how to change the fan settings, I noticed the fan starts to run fast enough to hear at 55ish degrees and I want to decrease the aswells parameter to increase the speed of the fan.
I tried Speedfan, and like 5 other programs where none of them worked.

I'm also afraid if I just reinstall 32 bits that I'm having the same problem, because there might be some kind of driver or utility, that I lost in the format.

Is there a way I can fix this? Is there a Toshiba utility or something that I might have missed?
The A500 is not compatible with 64 bit? The settings of the fan can be changed?

Thanks in advance

Hi dude

What graphics card drivers did you use?

As far as I know the use of the original 3rd party drivers (nVidia, ATI) might cause this issue because the drivers don t is supported on an overheat protection.

The point is that these drivers are not changed. Driver Toshiba of the own GPU a bit modified, updated laptop performance GPU usage would be pointed down to reduce the dissipation of the heat that helps reduce the temperature

If the use of drivers Toshiba GPU really is essential to ensure that the GPU overheats not

Also, please check if your cooling modules are free of dust could affect the movement of air and this could lead to a higher temperature

    Hello

I think that it is solely based on the RAM you have: how much RAM is installed on your Satellite A500?

Normally, 64-bit is important if you have 4 GB of RAM installed, because a 32-bit OS can handle up to 3.2 GB of RAM. So, with 4 GB or more RAM, I would choose the 64-bit version. ;)

  • Satellite A500 - overheating after BIOS update to 1.50

Hi, I hope someone can help me.

I updated the Bios to version 1.50 a few days ago and now the laptop overheats and stops after a few minutes, when I play a game (Day of Defeat Source btw, it is not the newest and shouldn't be a problem). This problem occurred for the first time after the update. There was no problem with the temperature with V1.20 before.

Is it possible to downgrade the bios V1.20? Where can I download the necessary file? I can just download the latest version on Toshibas website.
I have already asked the support of aid, but they did not send me a response up to now...

    Thanks for your replies! :)

    Hi Flex Barker,

Are you sure that this problem is really caused due to update BIOS? Normally, these overheating problems are caused by the old thermal grease or dust often due to the radiator. In my opinion, you should try to clean your laptop using a jet of compressed air. This could blow out the dust from the cooling fans.
    Check this box!

Downgrade of BIOS is normally not possible. Older versions of BIOS, you can get your local authorized service provider. :)

and in the last 20 minutes, I had 4 bluescreens

  • Problem with Windows7 upgrade - Satellite A500

I bought a portable Satellite A500 with Vista 32 bit Home Premium.
It came with an upgrade to Windows 7, which I completed the process of installation/uninstallation of upgrade Vista Home Premium 32 bit for Windows 7 32 bit on the Toshiba site, before the beginning of the DVD of windows 7 installation process.

After restarting my computer in step 6, I have a message "new hardware found - base system device" I tried to search c: and I tried the Windows 7 DVD for the specific file searching and can't locate it.

The installation/uninstallation deleted the drivers to connect to the internet.

Can't seem to start installing Windows 7 from the DVD.

    Help, please.

    Hello

    Windows 7 ask the driver!
It s not installed on the C or the DVD of Win 7.

I assume that you have improved the Vista to Win 7 and installed not cleaning.
I recommend a clean installation, because Windows 7 would reinstall and will not use the applications that were pre-installed on Vista.
In many cases these apps are not entirely compatible with Win 7.

After the clean install of Windows 7, you could install Windows 7 drivers you will find on the pages of Toshiba.

But Win 7 drivers are not published on Toshiba page European right now
If you could use a Toshiba page us to get drivers or should check the European page later

  • Satellite A500-1GL: what are the essential drivers for Win7 64 bit

    Hello

First of all, sorry for my English, I'm french :)

Second, I'm going to buy this PC next month and I have the opportunity to buy it without a Windows license (I'm already a Windows license).
So I'm lost to find the drivers on the download page, because there are several versions of drivers (for example drivers: Nvidia or Realtek Semiconductor Corporation)

(Important drivers) drivers I need to download once to install Windows Seven 64-bit.

Thirdly, I would like to know if it is possible to install display drivers downloaded from the Web of Nvidia site and not that of Toshiba?

    Thanks for your help :)

    Berillions

    Hello

    > So I'm lost to find the drivers on the download page, because there are several versions of drivers
Satellite A500-1GL is a part of the PSAR9E series. If you need drivers then you must choose Satellite A500 PSAR9E

    > What (important drivers) drivers I need to download once to install Windows Seven 64-bit.
Almost all of the drivers are important... the essential drivers are sound, lan, wlan, graphic card driver, touchpad, etc.
VAP (value added package) and utility support memory card Flash are required for keys FN and buttons of media control

    > Thirdly, I would like to know if it is possible to install display drivers downloaded from the Web of Nvidia site and not that of Toshiba?
Usually it s not recommended to use the drivers from nVidia or an ATI page because these drivers don't support drivers Toshiba overheating protection
But if you want to use the nVidia drivers so that at you own risk

Installation can be a bit harder running the exe file will not work because you will get a message that this driver is not allowed, but you can install all the drivers in Device Manager you can point to the driver files, stored on the HARD drive and this will allow to choose the nVidia Driver

  • Can satellite A500 - I install Windows 7 64 bit?

I first bought a Satellite A500 with 4 GB of RAM there are a little over 3 months with Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium installed. Initially, I got the original dramas with finding drivers 64-bit etc., then it ran OK for a while. After about 2 & a half months I started having BSOD with error message related to a nvidia .sys file. After a few weeks of this, update the latest drivers etc and a number of unsuccessful attempts to diagnose the problem, it's that occur whenever I used the laptop and up he took the touchpad died as well. The company I bought at gave me a laptop replacement.

The new system is also a Satellite A500, and although it has a different model number and a CPU faster it is also virtually identical to the one I had already with 4 GB of RAM and graphics card from nvidia at the same address. However, for some reason Windows 7 32 bit has been pre-installed. I don't know why the company has not installed the 64-bit. A call to the dept tech with the issue gave rise to the answer "better for you", which means that 32-bit is better for me.

My laptop is capable of 64-bit. I know that when you run the 32-bit version, it uses only up to 3.2 GB of installed RAM (my system says 2.99 GB is usable - assume the rest is allocated to graphics?) but I read a post where the poster says it is running 32 bit Win 7 was actually faster than the 64-bit version though even he was not using all the RAM.

    * Can someone tell me if I'm running the 32-bit version of Windows 7 rather than the 64-bit version better? *

    * If I'm better with 64-bit, can I switch to 64-bit or what I need to do a complete reinstall? * No installation disk provided. Assume that the installation files are on the hidden partition.

Although I have not had a BSOD with this new laptop, I had a couple of instances where the system froze temporarily with the messge "your display driver has stopped working" followed by a recovery. Is this a thing Toshiba, nvidia or Windows 7? I have read quite a few other posts of people with laptops similar to mine who have had the same mistakes of Toshiba/nvidia but no resolution. * If it's going to be a problem with the graphics card, I'm better off the coast with 32-bit or 64-bit Windows 7? *

Any advice would be appreciated muchly.

    Hello

I a500 and run Windows Ultimate 64-bit, it's best to run 64-bit to 32-bit windows. You must copy of 64-bit Windows to install, it is not big problem to get it. All the drivers you can find on the Toshiba driver page:

    Hello

As far as I know the laptop came with VISTA 32/64 Bit HOME PREMIUM system (DOUBLE).
So, you can use Vista 32 bit or 64 bit

Just to clarify this: you used Vista 32 bit in the past and updated the Vista 32 bit to Win 7 32 bit. Right?

Well, if you want to use Win 7 64 bit, you can upgrade to Vista 64-bit for Win 7 64 bit, or you must be a new install of Win 7 64 bit using a floppy Microsoft Win 7 64 bit.

    Hi mate

As I see you are using the Windows 7 64-bit operating system.
In my opinion, you cannot install or create a Win XP 32 bit mode because Windows 7 is 64 bit OS!

In my opinion, you would need a Win 7 32 bit OS in order to create a Win XP 32 bit mode!

  • Satellite A500: When will be released Windows 7 64 bit drivers

    Hello

as the new owner of toshiba A500-132 immediately, I installed Windows 7 64 bit and I only just now realize there is still no driver for it.
This is when they come out because I can't wait! and I refuse using vista!

I installed most of the 64 bit vista drivers, and most of them seem to work with exceptions that seriously annoy me. the first is the toshiba ECO utility doesn't work at all, and also the Fn keys do not work. the strange thing about the Fn driver, is that the buttons work when I manually turn the process of Flashcards TCrdMain.exe

I created the register, which automatically turns on the SLIM process but his ineffective as the process should be opened twice...

Someone at - it iny idea how to solve this problem, or when will be released Windows 7 readers?:

    Hi mfucek,

I also don t know when Toshiba released drivers for Windows 7, but you could contact Toshiba directly by phone or e-mail. Do you have already?

But I think that they will be released in time net because each day more and more drivers will be present on the page of Toshiba. It takes some time because not all drivers can be programmed and tested on one day only, I think.
In order to check the Toshiba page from time to time. ;)

Alternative you try the Eco utility and other other Toshiba laptops. Maybe they also work on your Satellite A500.

Already, the first problem appeared immediately after the purchase.
After a telephone conversation with the service and install some problem driver disappeared but unfortunately it was another, computer laptop start overheating especially on games but evan on movies more make strange noise.
I ve already used about 7 different cooling pads but none of them helped, I change the fan settings, cleaning by compressed air did not help at all.

Is there a way I can fix this?

Should I send it to Toshiba as it is still under warranty?

Can you please tell us what is the first problem?
To be honest, you should let Toshiba service to check this and give you 100% of mobile working.

What you want to do? If the same symptoms are there even if laptop with factory settings, I think it is certainly the issue of guarantee.

    Welcome!

I have the Satellite A500-1EE with the 64 bit version of Windows 7 and I need to install the 32-bit version of this system. Is this possible?

Because I can not find the drivers for 32 bit.

    Hi tosipaw,

Of course, it is possible and you can install what you want on your laptop, but I put t understand why you want to change to 64-bit to 32-bit OS.
What are the reasons for that?

Normally everything can be downloaded here:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > download drivers

Your model belongs to the series of PSAR9E and so only drivers 64-bit available.

If you are looking for all models A500 (without PSAR9E), you will find a large number of drivers Vista 32 bit. Maybe they work and it s worth a try! :)
