Satellite A500 - slow startup

Hello

I have a Satellite A500.
During the two days when I turn on my laptop it takes 20 minutes before entering the Enter password box and then another half an hour before the load upward.
It is stuck on the Welcome screen.

I also have problems stopping.
I tried f8 and then recovering from an early date.
But I got "no restore point is available", or something like that.
It looks like now that with each attempt to restart the laptop runs things more and more bizarre.

Should I restore it to factory setting? Should I reinstall windows 7?

I'm actually missing on sea for work so I don't even have the CD recovery with me.
What is the best thing to do?

And if I need to restore to the default origin can I do it without the CD?
Have yet another month overseas so any help will be great.

Thank you
UVA

> Should I restore it to factory setting? Should I reinstall windows 7?
Yes, in my opinion, you should try this, but in case this problem is hardware related, the recovery would not help a lot.

> I'm actually missing on sea for work so I don't even have the CD recovery with me.
> And if I need to restore to the default origin can I do it without the CD?

Try HARD drive recovery:
[How to recover a Toshiba notebook with the HDD recovery procedure | http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD1303440001R01.htm]

If the HARD drive recovery is possible, the recovery discs are not necessary.

But I'm afraid; m HARD drive can be a troublemaker. It probably needs to be replaced.

  • Satellite A500 - slower with videos on Windows 7

Hi, I desperately need advice, I am 78 years old and going into the wall.

My Satellite A500 / 03P was bought with preinstalled Vista and worked fine. My particular interest is the functioning and the creation of video clips from training for other seniors, like video purchased has worked, stutter free. I took the offer to upgrade to Windows 7 and bought the upgrade, things went quickly downhill since. Installing Windows 7 became crazy during the installation, I have to take the computer to a maintenance shop. He was returned with Windows 7 installed, but has been considerably slower with videos run from the hard drive stuttering, worse still, my connection Internet ADSL2 running about 1.25 m bits per second.

After a while I got to service man and $ 200 later was provided with a dual boot hard drive, Windows 7 32-bit and 64-bit Windows 7. The system is practically unusable for video. I downloaded and installed all the 32 and 64-bit drivers provided by Toshiba but had to give up the 64-bit completely as unusable. I tried to install another copy of Vista Ultimate, bought for my old desktop PC, but could not get Internet to work, either directly or via the WIFI on the laptop.

I tried to run the Toshiba on the 32-bit Windows 7, but the laptop is too slow, that even my email creeps to e-mail readere. Any advice would be most appreciated that my pension will not bear the costs of local peoples. Should I buy the Toshiba original disks and return to 'ex factory Vistor State' or what.

    Hi Leslie,.

I m really wondering why your A500 has so many problems with Windows 7. From my own experience I can say it s really great and better than Vista OS. I use 1.5 years now and everything is working a lot on it.

In any case, did you check if all devices are properly installed in Device Manager and if there is no yellow exclamation?
When you watch videos, have you selected the power profile high performance in Windows?

    > Should I buy the Toshiba original disks and return to 'ex factory Vistor State' or what.
That would be an option, Yes.
You don t have the Toshiba Recovery disk? If this isn't the case, you can get it from a provider of service authorized in your country.

  • Satellite A500 Win7 startup slow x 64/Vista x 64

Now, I have currently Win 7 HP x 64, but the boot takes me 1 min 29 seconds, it is normal?
Only Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 and ATI catalyst begin with the system, the win7 drivers are installed.

    Hello

I agree with the user above. In my opinion 1 min and 29seconds are normal to start up on Windows 7 if it s all ok with your laptop!

But as written Al - eX you can optimize it a little, but it brings may be only a few seconds. Simply follow the instructions posted by Al - eX.

By the way: you can also remove Toshiba TEMPRO. Who should also help you a little.

  • Re: Satellite A500 slow even after a clean install of Windows7

My laptop has suddenly slowed a lot about 4 weeks and seemed to have a virus problem causing a BSOD. Any attempt to solve this problem have failed, while we just do a clean install of Windows7, in the hope of resolving the issue of speed.

However it takes a few seconds to respond to each click of the mouse at a point where only Bullguard antivirus and Windows 7 are installed on the laptop.

I checked that the latest BIOS is installed v1.90.

I checked that all device drivers are up-to-date.
I checked the hard drive for the flaws and bad segments.

Please can anyone offer help or advice?

    Thank you very much.

    Hey Buddy,

Have you tried it with the Toshiba Recovery disk recovery facility?

  • Satellite M40 - slow startup

    Hello

my laptop m40 have xp home operating system. RAM is 768 MB

My problem is that it takes 4 minutes to arrive on the windows desktop. I tested other laptops Toshiba, they take 1 min.

I reinstall the os 3 times, but found the same problem.

    any body can help me.

    Hello

It's not easy to say why you unit takes so long. I can only suggest.
Sometimes, the startup procedure takes a long time because the Anti Virus program is activated and is trying to verify the operating system for some viruses. In addition many background processes that are loaded on the first could be a problem. I recommend that you check the background process, defragment the HARD drive and it controls the settings of the firewall and antivirus program.

  • Satellite A500 - 17 X - Games slows down if I play on battery mode

    Hello
When my laptop (Satellite A500 - 17 X) is connected, the game I play (Call Of Duty 4) works very nice, but if I try to play the game while my laptop is on battery, the game slows down. If you know what I mean.

Is this supposed to happen because the graphics card does not work well when the notebook is on battery or something wrong with my laptop?

    Hello

That's is a bit strange, I've never had such a problem and I don t often play on battery mode, only on AC/DC adapter.

The only idea I have for the moment, is that you should check the power Windows settings. Maybe in the power profile that you use is something different for battery operation, e. g. CPU maximum performance set to 50% for battery operation.
    Check it!

Here is a good article on these parameters:

  • My Satellite A500 is extremely slow

    Hi guys,.

First of all my apologies if I'm not in the right sub-forum here.

For about two weeks, my laptop (Satellite A500) is e-x-t-r-e-m-e-l-y s-l-o-w. Very often (not always) I get an error message after commissioning (which takes about 15 minutes) on a "JIT debugger" and click ok if you want to cancel the request or Cancel if I want to debug.

What does all this mean? Where did it come from?

    More information:
(-) I have not installed any new programs or anything for at least 6 months now.
(-) Recently, it takes about 15 minutes for the laptop at the start and another 15 minutes to log on to the net (via a usb wireless modem)
(-) I have one run a virus check (just in case ;)) and nothing was found.)
(-) I did a "gentle formula" that I found preinstalled on the computer. Apparently, this type of format gets rid of all your mistakes without having to reinstall all your programs. This 'soft' formula has not improved the performance.
(-) I brought up in the Task Manager to see which application causes the problem of JIT-debugger, but Task Manager area is empty. Nothing of what is running in there.

Could someone plllllllllllllllleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaas sssssssssssssseeeeeeeeeeeeeee informed me what could happen and how I could possibly fix this problem? Your knowledge and your help would be greatly appreciated!

    Good luck everybody!

I don't know if this will help. It should be.

Regarding the PROBLEM REAL being separated for a hardware issue...

Mine did the same (ran only run stutteringly slow s...l...w.freezes trouble... a lot of time and frustration (battery in and out) caused 3 hard disks lost (shaken baby syndrome).) Lost thousands of precious family memories and important documents.

    So... instead...

    (1) download MALWAREBYTES free version (from a trusted as Cnet site or web page of MW).

    (2) install and run.

    (3) allow to find Trojan horses that slow down your laptop (mine was 300 [and I have Norton 360 installed 2013]). Automatic adjustment.

    (4) re - start normally. Try Windows again. May or may not still be issues. Qoy TO BE SURE a certain...

    (5) start in Safe Mode (pull on the plug and the battery if you are unsure how to do this).

    (6) run Malwarebytes. Get rid of all the Trojans.

    (7) re-boot... It MAY take five or six minutes to start.

    (8) If you have Norton Antivirus or McAfee run it to check that it is nothing... you CAN get a message saying there is a conflict between her and MALWAREBYTES... He told me to uninstall Malwarebytes. So, I did. BUUUUUUUUUUT, on restart computer has had a black screen... (I couldn't even at BIOS)...

Normally I would give 'going bonkers' a little... but I expected as well... and waited and waited... and waited...

    (9) repeat PC programs. It should be much better.

    (10) re-boot... IT CAN TAKE FIVE MINUTES... don't worry... next time it should be good if you had the same questions that this laptop had too many times.

ALWAYS check if you download Flash ADOBE or a MS C++ Update update, or an update module of any site, make sure that you click Yes to anything... BUT instead, GO to the REAL SITE for these programs.

  • Re: Satellite A500-1 - slow after blue screen

    Hi all

I've owned a Satellite A500-1 in a year with no problems at all until a few days ago. When it tuning on it gave me a blue screen of death, and after 10 seconds, it turned blue, so I couldn't read error.

I noticed reduced performance since it happened. Especially when you play games or movies HD, the picture and sound will freeze every few seconds. This happens in Windows 7 and Ubuntu. I did a new install of both, but the problem persists.

I scanned the hard drive and memory errors, but it wasn't everything. Cant someone give me some advice, please?

    Thank you

    Hello

    > This happens in Windows 7 and Ubuntu. I did a new install of both, but the problem persists.
This would mean that the problem is hardware-related and operating system installation seems to be ok, but it could be anything and it s is not easy to say what part is affected.

Some parts, you can check yourself like RAM and HARD drive.

    http://www.HitachiGST.com/HDD/support/download.htm#DFT
With the Drive Fitness Test, you can test your HARD drive. Download the CD image, burn it to a CD and boot from it. Then you can test the HARD drive.
On the same site is a user's guide if you want to know more.

    http://Memtest86.com/
Memtest86 is a diagnostic tool to check the RAM. Here, you can also download a CD image.
It s easy to use. Run the test of 3-4 hours and then you will see if the RAM has some errors.

If both tests cannot find an error, it must be another problem as the motherboard or the CPU. For such a diagnosis, you must contact an authorized service provider. They can help you get rid of this problem. You can find a complete list of the guys here:

  • Satellite A500 - 01 X takes to always at startup and does not

I got my Satellite A500 - 01 X for about 2 weeks. It was working fine and then suddenly it takes forever to start and then almost all the programs when opening start "not responding". Here's what I've tried so far.

It took nearly an hour and has not made a difference.
I disabled the virus checking and firewall individually and collectively and no help.

As far as I know, Toshiba offers a few changes of BIOS options and is not also a part of the BIOS updates.

What kind of problems you have with dual boot?

  • Satellite A500 - 03P: unable to connect to the WLan using Win 7 + event message

    Hi all

I recently bought the Satellite A500 with the offer included Windows7 while he was available late October 09.

So I had the Toshibe DVD for the upgrade and followed the steps and Visa home premium upgrade to Windows 7. Now I have two questions.

    (1) I get a system event Notification after start, talk to me about the system event log. The full message is below.

Unable to connect to a windows service
Windows could not connect to the System Event Notification service. This problem prevents limited users to logon to the system. As an administrator, you can view the system event log to see why the service failed

    (2) I was able to use this laptop for the internet before the upgrade, both via a USB wireless drive as well to the office via a DSL modem.
Now I can't access the internet after the upgarde of Windows 7!

For example the Optus dial-up box pop up appears commandeLorsque I click on 'connect', it does not connect.

    Can anyone help please?

    Thank you
    C I

    Hey Buddy,

    (1) did you check the Configuration of the Service for this service? The Boot System Event Notification Service type must always be set to automatic. This service is absolutely necessary for Windows and shouldn't t be disabled or set to manual startup type.
    Check it!

    (2) to be honest I never heard on the internet BEFORE, but normally, it should also be possible to access the Internet with Windows 7.
Make sure that the WLAN or LAN card is installed properly and check the TCP/IP settings. If you are missing some driver you can get on the page of Toshiba.
