Satellite A60: Switch wireless on the side is taken on

Hi I have a laptop Satellite A60, I want to turn on my wireless LAN but the switch on the side is covered on as it is just for show. I to believe I can turn it on, the symbol to the fron and the on / off on the side, but as I said is covered more and not a switch like showld be. Theis means I can't get a wireless connection or is it a fault in Notepad? Help, please.
Thank you very much

I don't have an answer, I just want to share your frustration. Recently I got a wireless home hub, but I can't go to this topic with my A60.
I also have the light at the front and the switch sheets on the right and a manual that talks about wireless LANs in bright tones.
I was led to believe it was active wireless, but it isn't!
Sometimes even with a graphic 'research Wireless' but it is useless if it doesn't have what it takes to work [when it is in. the wireless Hub].

  • Satellite A75 - switch wireless works only with the Intel wireless network adapter

The Atheros card that came with my Satellite A75 had questions, so I installed an Intel 2200.
According to Device Manager, everything works and is properly installed and should work, but the message I get is the wi - fi switch.

It is placed at the position, but the indicator light lights up and the Intel card does not connect without it. The light comes on with the Atheros, but this card hangs the system.

A few months ago, I borrowed an Intel 2200 on an IBM and put it in the A75 temporarily and it worked fine, that's why I bought the Intel.

I tried the FN + the button with the antenna, but no effect, even if it also works with the Atheros.
Y at - it another way to activate the wi - fi in addition to the switch and the FN, or is there a way to disable the switch function if the computer doesn't even know it's there?

    Maybe it works.

    Thank you.

  • Satellite A60 do not mount the drive UJDA760

My Satellite A60 CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drive has stopped working properly. He is more able to read DVD - ROM, a serious problem because the recovery disc is a DVD-ROM.

I recently bought a replacement drive, the same model as the old disk number. But when I installed it, the computer does not recognize the drive. The drive has power and running disks. The computer does not know it is there.

Someone has an idea of what can be done to encourage the player from the computer? I updated the BIOS to the latest version, but that did not help.

    I appreciate any suggestions.
    Phil premium

    Hi Phil premium,

The old drive is recognized correctly in the BIOS?

I'm not sure but some readers have a rider on the back where the connector is. There you can switch between Master, Slave and Cable Select. Please put the jumper on Master and if it s does not, try the slave mode.

In the worst cases, the new drive is defective and you must return it to the store and ask for a replacement.

    Hello

I think you should get in touch with an authorized ;) services provider

Here he s a user forum and I think that an ASP can answer this question better. In addition, you can also order new parts.

  • How to format Satellite A60 302 without using the CD/DVD drive

    Hello

I have a laptop SATELLITE A60-302, and I had a problem with cd player. I want to format the computer (WIN XP) and I wanned to ask if I can format the computer not by the cd player but another way as disk on key or something...

    Thanks :)

    Hello
Your best bet might be trying to use an external CD/DVD drive to install Windows XP (must confirm that your laptop can boot from USB CD/DVD). I would not recommend it otherwise because they are pretty complicated and you will encounter other issues.

    Hello

Your device can handle with max 1280MB. The compatible modules are:

    PC2700 256 MB (PA3311U - 1 M 25)
    PC2700 512 MB (PA3312U - 1 M 51)
    1024MO PC2700 (PA3313U-1M1G)

  • Satellite A60 crashes and restart the cycle - missing or damaged system32\DRIVERS\Ntfs

I have a Toshiba Satellite A60, who has recently developed a serious problem and is currently blocked in a crash restart cycle. He started with the message "missing or damaged system32\DRIVERS\Ntfs", I've read about this problem on discussion forums, but am still unable to find a solution.

Currently on start error messages appear indicating a driver is missing or damaged, the Toshiba start page has vertical lines of missing data and on a few occasions it will fully start after a short period of time vertical lines appear on the screen and it crashes.

I tried a number of bugs:
    * Re installed windows XP pro (formatting the hard drive and renew the partitions)
    * Update the bios on the site of toshiba in version 1.90 (I think that the update also flashes the bios, but would need this confirmation?)
Swapping the hard drive with a portable, yet no longer starts and HD works fine in another laptop, dismissing the possibility of missing or corrupt files.

I realize that this could be a problem with the RAM and think that the laptop has 512 fixed to the motherboard, accessable without stripping down, but do not know how to determine if the RAM is the problem. While trying these fixes, I get problems with the start of the player and can only get the disk to launch and recognize the CD about 1 to 10 times.

Could someone suggest a remedy or a fix I can try? or suggest how they fixed a similar problem. Thank you very much

You ssounds not very good ;(description
The hardware malfunction appears to be responsible for the vertical lines on the screen
If vertical lines appear also an external display, the jury may be wrong.

You re right, I Googled, and it seems that Sat A60 supports an internal memory.
As far as I know, this memory cannot be removed and only an electronics could solve this internal memory.
But are you sure that the internal memory is impaired. The device supports only 256 MB internal memory and other modules are removable
If you can try to replace

  • Satellite A60-142: Tips for the new laptop

    Hi all

I think to buy a new laptop.
I currently have a Satellite A60-142 and I only am not too thrilled about this model since the fan makes me crazy... It is constantly running and compared to my old laptop (Satellite 1410-304), it makes a lot of noise...

So, I want to get a new laptop which is quieter...
I need basically for email/surfing/Online games/digital still camera.

    Thanks for the tips!
    Ellen

    Hi Ellen

Well, it is a known issue that, often, the fan works. If you play games or use other applications, the laptop works at high performance and the parts of the device as the processor or graphics card produce a lot of heat. In this case, aeration run also at high speed. It is a simple fact.
As far as I know, you can try to change the settings of cooling in the power utility.
In addition it is not easy to say which model of laptop runs more quiet. In the notebooks of high performance fans are bigger and louder by contrast office books are ineffective but easier to cool.

It's not easy to make a choice

    Good bye

    Hello

Your device is not ready WLAN and you can use some external hardware such as PCMCIA card or even wireless USB key. They are not expensive and installation is very simple.

  • Satellite A500 - switch WLAN and the FN keys does not turn the wireless

I have currently problems try to activate the connection Wireless on my laptop. My laptop model is a satellite A500 PSAR9A O2J001. My laptop's physical wireless switch does not work and neither my Fn keys don't work (none of my function keys work not at all). It was awhile I saw an orange light next to my mobile switch indicating it was on, but one day, it's just off. Since then, I was not able to reactivate it after a lot of searching on Google, and this place is my last resort after doing so many things.

Any help or comments would be appreciated, I am very desperate to solve this problem for studies.

Your description is OK but rather general isn't easy to say with certainty what the problem is here.
Is the card properly installed wireless (Device Manager)?
FN keys work in general? You can use other keys FN + Fx? You see flash cards when you press the FN key? If so what options you see when you use FN + F8 (WLAN I think)?

When you move position WLAN communication works and use the FN + F8 to what exactly happens?

  • Satellite A60-173 disorder during the installation of the new bios

I have a laptop A60-173 and it does not work well. I tried to update my bios to the latest version (which I downloaded from the Toshiba home site). But it took too long to write a new bios (1 hour), then I thought that the program is not responding and I did a stupid thing I turned off the power. Now, the dead laptop, no light, no thing happends on my computer when I turn it on. What should I do? I wonder if PCservice (of the store I bought my laptop) can help me to fix it.

    IM worried so fight it

    Hello

Can you please tell me what was the reason for the update of the BIOS? Have you had problems with your laptop? Have you read update BIOS Toshiba Description before continuing?

Like you said it was very stupid that you stopped the update of the BIOS. It is possible that you damaged the chip for the BIOS on the main map. Sorry, but the best solution is to contact the authorized Service partner and let them check it.

  • My Satellite A60 does not detect the WLAN

    Hello

I just bought a SA 60 128 used laptop. I checked in many ways, if this system has a built-in Wi - Fi connection. I tried to look for this model on the internet to get the setup but I couldn't. Now I use a USB adapter to connect to the wireless network.
    Please help me with this.

    @razan
Why get you on the net for information if the phone card WLan or not. Simply check the Device Manager and see if the wireless network adapter appears or not.
In any case, the WLAN USB key is not a bad solution.
