Satellite A75-S211 is very slow

I've been to a malware expert forum and posted Hijack this logs and this machine is more than likely own. Awhile back, we had to replace the modem due to problems of dispersal of heat (so they said) and I fear that the thing is about to fry itself now. There there, diagnostics that I can use? I've defragged and there about 79% free disk space and it is clean. Help.

Hi Larry

Different are many different booklets a series and it will be interesting to know than the one you have. For example I have Satellite A100 and it works fine.

If the slow functioning of mobile I think it's mainly because of the user himself and if you have enough PC experience I'm sure you know very well what you need to do to make it faster. ;)

    Hey Buddy,

Can you be a little more detailed, please? What do you mean with very slow?
How long it takes so that it starts Windows?
How long it takes to start an application?

I have to say that Windows XP 64-bit wasn t popular and there is no official support for Toshiba for this OS. If you use Windows XP, I recommend to install the 32-bit version.

Did you test your laptop with the factory settings? It works properly with a preinstalled OS from Toshiba?

I m also owner of the Satellite L300 and I use the preinstalled Windows XP 32 bit of Toshiba. I m very satisfied with this laptop, it s fast enough and need very little energy. :)

  • Satellite C50D-A-134 - very slow internet connection

    Hello
    In may, I bought a Saturday C50D-A-134.

From the very beginning. The internet speed is very slow - Wifi or cable.

    That's what I did:

Installed the latest drivers (LAN and Wifi)
    Installed latest Bios Update

Contact internet provider: everything is checked - no problem of provider. (my other laptop on the same network speed gets speeds up to 10 times faster. So it really isn't a provider problem.

There is no adware installed - it is not a problem of viruses (checked with several programs avast - malwarebytes etc.)

    Can someone help me

The laptop seems to be equipped with 10/100 (10 Mbits / 100Mbit) Base-TX Ethernet LAN module. T
It modulates Atheros WB335 WLan supports standards 802.11 b/g/n and supports 150Mbps.

So for me the hardware configuration seems good and to be honest I don't think that there is a hardware / driver problem

As you have pointed out the similar problem with both modules (WLAN and LAN) I recommend you to reset the router even if other devices are not affected.

By the way: what do you exactly mean by slow?
Can you give us a few values?

  • Satellite C660-1ZM is very slow

I recently fixed my laptop to its original state, so, nothing had been installed to this topic, it seems very slow, because it crashes or stuggles to load on several basic programs, sometimes it loads fine other times it just hangs, I installed several drivers in the list of Toshiba, but always remains the same.

    Any advice?
    Thank you

    Aaron

What are the core programs for you?
    What exactly happens?

I think you which is your laptop quite slow. Preinstalled operating system must be configured correctly.
You must remove all the unnecessary stuff system, configure the startup option to avoid the long start-up and have better performance of the laptop.

  • Satellite A40-151 is very slow

    Hello

My friend has a laptop A40-151, which happened to be very slow with blue sceens of death, noisey and unit system returning to pio mode rather than ultra dma. We spread an infection by the virus and adware. I've had problems like this with all my last pc and it has always been the hard drive dying, or near death and it smells the same (saving). So yesterday, the laptop become very noisey which I suspected that the hard drive was probably to jam! However, xp blue screen referred to as core and memory dump. Could the CPU and memory also die? Maybe a fan is declining?

I got a processor celeron with video shared in the past and they were not fast in the best of cases.

    Kind regards

    Ashley

    Hello

It is best to check the computer step by step:

1 you said yesterday - the laptop became very noisy it may be because of the clogged cooling module that keeps the fan running hard. You need a jet of compressed air to blow the dust from the cooling fans. If you clean it well, but the noise persists, may be that the fan blades are broken (need to be replaced). The HARD disk can also made noise as it is old getting (replace) or need to be defragmented. You can download software Raxco Perfect disk to defragment, it's shareware but free for 1 month.
2 on blue screen Xp, you must reinstall Windows Xp and see what happens.
3 it can also be from material, if something serious, should contact ASP (SAV)

    welcome them

  • Satellite M45-S169 is very slow

    Hello

I really hope that someone can give me a notice here...
Recently, my laptop started to work very slowly. I was using Windows Movie Maker to create projects and she began to hang and not save the project... The use of the CP was 100% and the system ran out of memory quickly... Files with avi, wma, jpg files did not open at all and windows Explorer hanging just whenever I tried to open a. He had more than 20 GB of free space on system C drive and about 8 GB of local disk D... In addition, the copy process has just stopped working properly... It took a long time to copy even small files from one place to another... I am not connected to the network, so this isn't the issue...

I have reinstalled the operating system (Windows XP SP2)... Files with extensions of different media now open... Although not very quickly. But the copy process takes much longer to finish... It is also very slow browsing photos with Windows picture and Fax Viewer.

If sth wrong with the material from the laptop or the absence of some drivers could cause problems? What and how can I check this? I've had this laptop for 2 years now...
I'm not very good with PC equipment and do not know what might not work... I greatly appreciate your help... Really need help here...

  • Satellite A40-151 started very slow and have hours to transfer a single file

    Hello.

I've had my A40-151 more than two years now, and up to last month, I got no problems at all. However, last month, it began to be very slow and took hours to initialize. I'm worried that I would lose all the data that I didn't back up, and so I bought an external drive to transfer data.

As I was doing this, my laptop started making grinding noises, and it took up to 12 hours to transfer a single file. I got to the place, I bought it, and they said it had crashed and that it was not something they could do other than get it back - and so I lost all my data.

When I came back, it was OK for a few hours and then started grinding again! And I think it might be something to do with the CD/DVD drive. I uninstalled the drive, and the squeaking seems to have stopped as long as the "drawer" player is open! Help, please!

How can I get the drive replaced? My laptop is no longer under warranty. No I lost everything this that data for nothing?

    Anyone have any ideas?

    Hello

No, the squeaking is probably from the reader of CD/DVD being dry, while optical rides on squeak track passing. But the long loading is certainly a hard drive problem. Looks like a head crash. The head is more or less what locates and reads/writes data from the HARD drive. When this plant it is unable to read/write/or locate the data on the surface taking more and more to save the data, transfer data and load the operating system. Two problems independent of each other. If your ASP cannot repair the cd that squeaks, then they can replace it one that works normally. I hope this has helped you.

  • Satellite A30-514 is very slow and how to repair the cooling fan

My laptop is now very slow. Power on the need to use F1 at startup and it is also quite the slowness of the process. My machine has 512 MB of RAM, but shows only 480 MB on Control Panel. It is believed that it's a RAM failure that made the slow machine or something else. I tried maintenance but did not help.

Also any what has got the details how you can open the unit up to service the cooling fan as the machine heats up a lot and need a maintenance operation.

  • Heat and a very slow Satellite A75-S211

I read on a post above that the air vents on the laptops can become dusty, so I vacumed both on the computer of my girlfriend (who is the computer problem here).

Fans were executed at the top almost constantly for some time. I managed to remove three large dust balls (had to pick them across the screens). This does wonders for the fan speed that seem normal now, and I guess that heat is better, even if I haven't used the computer much more before.

I downloaded a utility that I learned on another forum and determined that the processor was working about 40 degrees C, 104 F. I think it's maximum recommended, but I'm not sure. My questions are this (assuming the heat problem is, essentially, cured):

is there a reduced efficiency as the computer takes to guard against overheating of the processor (I'm sure there is) and should be turned "off" once the temperature problem is solved (particularly if the question was for a long time)?

are there programs diagnosis out there that can tell me if the processor is damaged by heat or any other cause?

    Thank you

    L

    Hi Larry,

Assuming you are using the Toshiba Power Management utility rather than the version of Microsoft then your laptop will usually follow a behavioral feature if the CPU is too hot.

In general, as you have already discovered, fans will increase in speed and frequency until they work at top speed for most of the time (assuming that the power management utility is set for maximum performance). If the CPU is always too hot then the laptop is finally off himself in order to avoid any damage. However it is likely that the CPU you will get even hotter since turning off also stops the cooling fans.

The Toshiba power management utility can also be set to change this behavior by slowing down the CPU in order to keep more expenses and thus reduce the noise caused by the cooling fans.

After a reboot, the power management utility must return to its designated frame, which will be all you had set it initially.

The thermal switch that controls the auto standby except in case of overheating of the CPU should have quite a high cost to ensure that the processor is not damaged.

    Kind regards

  • Very low noise of satellite A75-S211

Just installed fresh Win XP Pro SP2 integrated. Support Web site of the downloaded drivers for this version of Toshiba laptop. All recognized devices, driver installed and no conflict. But...
... sound is very very very LOW! I can hear only if I put the the volume slider to the top and put my ear to the speaker. I downloaded from www.realtek.com.tw updated AC 97 driver version and the problem persists (no driver installation using setup.exe but pointing to the .inf file in the extracted folder of WDM of downloaded the driver file - I'm not fan of SW resident installed by setup.exe with driver).
I found a few posts here about problems with audio in XP SP2. It seems a common problem for Toshiba laptops in the case of XP SP2 :-(

    Hello

There are many different opinions on the installation of SP2. I have two units with SP2 and I there is no problems.

I did not try to install Windows XP Home SP2 integrated edition. I installed additional SP2 and it works very well.

AFAIK the A75 is American machine. Please visit this link

  • New Satellite L855 - 14K is very slow

Hi people - advice on this would be appreciated...

I bought a Satellite L855 - 14K about 2 weeks ago and I am very disappointed to see that sometimes it's extremely slow. For example, enter my password on the screen of welcome to the ZoneAlarm and Avast icons appear in the system tray takes 5 min 45 sec.

Launch of Chrome takes 1 min 15 sec.

It takes 40 seconds to launch task manager.

I did the following to see if I could find the problem...

Complete system with Avast scan - no threats found.

Scan on startup with Avast - no infected files.

Check drive C for errors - no errors detected.

    Optimization and defragmentation - finished.

Full scan of Malwarebytes - no malicious items.

SUPERAntiSpyware full scan - found 169 cookies, which I removed.

Looked at Toshiba PC Health Monitor and everything looked ok.

Run A tool of diagnosis of Toshiba and everything this past.

I manually checked the updates of Windows and found 5 optional updates are available, which I installed.

I disabled a number of items in the startup list - this is what is currently on...

I checked the Task Manager Services tab and I have 78 services running.

    Thank you

    Thanks for your final comments!

  • Satellite C850D - LAN is very slow

    I have a laptop C850D 12 months that I connect to a BT / Hub cable Cat 5 ethernet.
My download speed has always been slow, but I recently moved to BT infinite thinking that it the network speed was not the laptop.

Using their own laptop and my ethernet cable, the record of engineers BT download 35 to 40 Mbps while I record only 8-12 on my laptop.

Sometimes this can be as low as 2 or 3 Mbps. I can also record high speed using my Macbook wife and my ethernet cable. Wireless speeds are similar.

Is there any tuning that I can do for my laptop that could improve the speed?

    Thank you

As I m wrong not the laptop Satellite C850D does support 10/100 Base-TX Ethernet network card.
It supports ethernet 10-100 Mbps speed.

Usually, you can change the settings in the properties of the LAN card.
    Device Manager-> LAN card-> properties-> Advanced tab

There you will find all the options concerning the performance of LAN.
In addition, you can check the BIOS settings too.
