Hi, 2 of my friends and myself have bought this laptop. We will add 8 GB of RAM and an SSD to speed it up.

It comes with win 8.1 x 64, but we all prefer Win 7. Can we get the license codes to an official Win 7 downgrade?

I've seen the installation hints concerning the deactivation of the UEFI BIOS (carrier MSC mode) mode then that should be OK.

So, is a license for Windows 7 available for this purpose?

When you buy the new laptop with OS preinstalled, you will get this operating system with the valid license code that belongs to this preinstalled only version. Price for your laptop includes a single license for pre-installed OS.

If you want to install the version of the OS, you must buy license code valid for this version of the OS.
Laptop computer manufacturer generally has nothing to do with your OS downgrade.

Before you do anything, create a recovery as backup media. It is very important. One day, if you want to have the original version of the new OS, you can use this recovery media (USB or DVD) for recovery image installation.

Also check if Win7 is supported for this model of laptop. Visit the Toshiba download page and check if you can download all necessary drivers, tools and utilities for your machine.

  • Satellite L355-S7907 - how downgrade from Vista to XP?

    Hello

I recently bought the Satellite L355-S7907 and do not like Vista I want to run Windows XP Service Pack 2 on it. Now I tried several methods, first start XP from CD, it loads for a few minutes then I get the blue screen of death, by saying that I should run ' CHKDISK F.
I ran check disk and my my hard drive is fine.

The other method I've tried is partition my hard drive then when Vista is on trying to install XP on the new partition. Vista allows me to install on a partition, because "Windows on your computer is newer than the version on CD.

What should I do here? I don't like Vista and I'd love to have XP working on this laptop.

    Any help much appreciated

    Hello

Downgrade from Vista to XP isn t possible. Therefore, you must make a clean and new Windows XP installation. You wrote that you get a BSOD if you start from XP disc, what code BSOD is it exactly?

I guess you only need drivers SATA to install XP. Have you installed them?
In addition I recommend read the discussions here in the forum about it. You'll have hundreds of them! ;)

I had Satellite Pro A200GE with Windows Vista Business Edition preinstalled in it.

Am not really satisfied with Windows Vista and I would like to downgrade to Windows XP Professional.

I don't have a CD to install Windows XP Professional, but don't know how to install it on a Vista machine.

I tried to boot my Vista laptop on this XP disc but no joy...

Is there another way to install XP on the computer before installing vista?

or I have to buy any disc retailer downgrade?

    Any help appreciated

    Thank you
    Vishal

You can install XP on this laptop. As you say you have to boot from the XP CD to install it on the HARD drive.

But maybe your OS doesn't see the HARD internal disk? In this case, you need to install the SATA driver first. The Manager of the Intel Matrix Storage Manager includes the SATA driver. Intel Matrix Storage manager can be downloaded from the Intel Web site.

During the installation of Win XP, it must use the F5 key to include the SATA driver from an external FDD drive (floppy).

If you don t have an external USB FDD then you can use the program called nLite.
For more information, I recommend goggling for nLite software.

    Check it out ;)

    Hi serge_1,

As much as I know Windows XP 64-bit is not supported on Toshiba laptops. I've never seen these drivers for XP 64 bit was not as good because a lot of missing drivers. If Toshiba drivers are designed for XP 32 bit only, so I would choose this version if you really want Windows XP

  • Satellite U400-10 has: Downgrade from Windows XP Home edition

I got my laptop U400-10 for XP. Few things left pending:

    1. How can I get the LED on the top of the screen (and Satellite/power LED) to decrease intensity again by pressing the LED light on the top of the screen? Worked under vista. Cannot run Windows XP Home edition. Probably a Toshiba driver... but the Witch one?

    2. I get a Device Manager question mark in front of audio storage devices and mass HD. I checked the internet and it seems related to the HDMI port. But how to fix it? I can't identify the right Toshiba drivers on the page/download driver Toshiba.

    3. How can I get Bluetooth (with the standard windows drivers)? Bluetooth Monitor driver Toshiba form doesn't seem to work.

    Thanks for the replies.

    Concerning

    Hello

(1.) I think you could turn on and off the LED of Illumination in the BIOS.
But maybe it s not supported under Win XP.

    (2) some features are not supported by XP. This unit is probably the module of Robson former Turbo Memory. This material will be supported only by Windows Vista so there is no driver Windows XP.

    (3) possibly you have ONLY installed the BT monitor. It is a diagnostic utility, and if you want to use BT you need a driver of BT.
The BT driver can be downloaded from the page of the portal of BT or driver Toshiba

  • Re: Satellite A300 PSAGCA-03C010 - downgrade from Vista to XP

    Hello

I'm really new to all this, so I hope that will not ask a question that has already been answered :)

I bought a laptop Toshiba Satellite A300 (model PSAGCA-03C010) in October 08. It came with a preinstalled version of Windows Vista Home Premium.

Initially, using Vista was not too bad, but it happened at a point now where his things slows down and is really frustrating. Want to downgrade (/ upgrade) go back to Windows XP and I want to know the "implications" of this and if the Toshiba Utilities are consistent and will work with XP.

First of all, can I use my ID current product that came with Vista and it enter the product ID when I install XP?

Also, I am concerned about the Wi - fi, bluetooth, finger scan and HDMI applications - will this work with XP?

Finally, when I created the "recovery disk", should everything go 'bad' when installing XP or if something does not work, can I use this recovery disc to return to the original "out of the box" installation?

Thanks in advance and again once, apologies if these qns have already answered in other posts (im not too technical).

    Tamara

    > I'm really new to all this, so I hope that will not ask a question that has already been answered
In many cases, these questions have been answered already and you might find useful views by using the Advanced ;) search option

    > Want to downgrade (/ upgrade) go back to Windows XP and I want to know the "implications" of this and if the Toshiba Utilities are consistent and will work with XP.
Tools and Vista drivers are not compatible with Win XP. If you want to install Win XP and want to use all the features of the laptop you must make sure that the Win XP drivers are available for this model of laptop.

Satellite A300 PSAGCA seems to be an Australian model. The drivers are placed here:
    http://www.ISD.Toshiba.com.au

I checked this and found a few tools and drivers for this device.

    > First of all, can I use my ID current product that came with Vista and it enter the product ID when I install XP?
No, you can not use it because it belongs to the Vista operating system preinstalled on your laptop.

    > Finally, when I created the "recovery disk", should everything go 'bad' when installing XP or if something does not work, can I use this recovery disc to return to the original "out of the box" installation?
Yes, the recovery disk allows to reverse the laptop back to factory settings.
You will get the same as on the first day of purchase

  • Spectrum 14-3200ea Downgrade from Win7 HP

    Hello

After spending a month of searching so portable / ultrabooks, im looking to buy a HP spectrum 14-3200ea machine (considered the spectrum 14-3000 model loaded with Win7, but prefer performance increased 4000 Intel i5-3317 Ivey specs on the chipset Intel 3000 and Sandy of i5-2476).  I'm not interested in touchscreen technology.

Like a few others I hate Windows 8, I also hate MS (IMO) establishing an operating system that is inappropriate for business use.

I have been in contact with HP and received the habit; 'HP recommends changing the operating system' of things, have you thought to...

Spectrum 14-3200ea offers you everything I want in a laptop / ultrabook.  After reading some of the threads on this forum, I am now worried.  I really want to not remove an SSD to re-partition (if indeed it would be possible) outside of the machine.

Disable UEFI, characteristic of secure boot, I agree with.  Win7 drivers for this machine are nonexistent.  I want to make sure that everything works after a downgrade, including 'Beats audio","keyboard backlit"(the latter being one of the main attractions of this machine, the keys are lit as opposed to the light under the keys).

So how much of a nightmare is what it will be?  Is this feasible?

The bog-standard response is "don't go down that road", then just I hold off buying.  Consider other manufacturers such as Lenovo, Samsung, ASUS, or even continue to live with my HP Probook until Microsoft come to their senses and realize that some consumers are simply not interested in the bar silly charms, interfaces terrible desktops, application etc stores and HP realizes a significant number of consumers are not interested in Windows 8 and that they should consider seriously to restore and help potential buyers who want nothing to do with the disorder known as Windows 8.

My other solution would be to stick with Win8 and apply each internet tweak suggested, download all conceivable 3 advantage module do Win8 it look and feel like Windows 7.  A path already traveled, then realized, 'what's the point? "

    Thanks for reading...

    Hello:

HP and probably all other PC manufacturers do not support their use of the PC for any operating system, but the current in force when the PC is made (which today is W8).

You already know that the PC company provide support for earlier operating systems.

However, I believe that all of the W7 x 64 drivers of spectrum want 3100t work on the 3200 (except the BIOS files).

    http://h20000.www2.HP.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=5275317&prodTypeId=321957&prodSeriesId=5259187&swLang=13&TaskID=135&swEnvOID=4063#11360

As I don't have your laptop, this is the best info I have, or probably everybody will be able to do for you.

If you decide to pursue this option, please make your set of recovery discs before you continue with the switch of the operating system.

  • Satellite Pro S300-11Y - downgrade from Windows XP Home edition does not work

    Hello

I have a SAT PRO S300-11 since January 2009. It came with CD to downgrade to Windows XP, and I did several times over the years without any problem. But now I do and what finish to downgrade, when done last reset, windows starts to have problems and doesn t work.

But if I do not the last reset on arrival of the downgrade the machine works perfectly, but when I do reboot then when windows starts it works. I try 5 times and still the same. I come back to windows original vista (I did CD to do) and it happens the same problem.

    Any help greatly appreciated,
Thank you and sorry for my bad English.,.

    Jordi

  • Satellite C50D-A-138 backlight does not

Hi, I have a major problem with my laptop. The backlight of the display will not work. I can see only vaguely the image. I tried to adjust BRIGHTNESS, no joy. It displays very well to a monitor. I tried to replace the screen and Ribbon connection, but the question always arises. Does anyone have any ideas? I am at a loss.

    Paul

    Hello

Connect the external monitor if the same display problem appears on the external display and check.
Where everything seems properly on the external monitor, the problem must be the internal display panel.

The laptop display panel seems to use a backlight LED as the light source.
So probably the backlight of the screen does not work correctly. In this case, the display board must be replaced.

You must ensure that you use the Panel compatible because many laptop displays different support technology (TFT panels without backlight and display supporting the backlight as the construction of a C50D-a)

  • Satellite L300 - 03C - how downgrade from Vista to XP?

I get blue screen after Installation finished.

How do I get help please

    Hello

    What BSOD you get exactly?

Satellite L300, you need SATA drivers to install Windows on a drive of Microsoft because it s equipped to a SATA HDD. The driver you need you can find in the Intel Storage Manager package on the Toshiba site.

If you don t have an external floppy drive you can use nLIte to create your own with these drivers installation disk.

In addition, I can recommend hundreds of discussions on this question here in the forum.

  • Satellite A200 - BSOD after downgrading from Win Vista to XP Pro

    HII

    I bought a Satellite A200.
The windows vista family edition was the operating system that was installed.
Compatibility issue with a particular software that I use, I changed the vista by a XP Professional SP3.
But since then, the computer crashes and present a blue screen. I wish I had some ideas to solve this problem.

    Thank you

    Hello

The BSOD can be caused by the problem of hardware and software problem.
In your case it seems s due to software problem. Maybe a few compatibility problems between certain parts of the software

First you need to check if you are using the version of Win XP BIOS Yes this laptop needs a Win XP BIOS, which could be found on the European driver Toshiba page.

I m also interesting when the BSOD appears you installed Win XP successfully or it was not possible to install the XP because the BSOD?

If you were not able to install Win XP then I guess you don't have included SATA drivers participating in the crib on Intel Matrix Storage.

I recommend some threads here in the forum about this theme.
