Satellite C650D - system installation / recovery outcome

Hello

I posted a few days my relocation has been blocked.
After two days of trying, I dropped. I still don't know what the problem was, but it seems I can't do nothing with it. I have 32 bit and 64 bit recovery disc done thought I would try it... silly me.

I have Windows 7 on the disck, but obviously I can't do Windows SE currently.

So, it starts the disk, but I am really bad afterwards.
I tried a lot of different options and nowhere.

The last error message is "to use system restore, you must specify which windows installation to restore. Restart the computer, select the operating system and the system restore, then select"... I did several times and always return to the screen.

I don't know if the partitioned drive is always there with the back up or not, or even if it is always interesting to try to work out which. Previously, I couldn't get him, but it wasn't an option to restart completely because he couldn't find a still running (who has been blocked).

Basically, the set of recovery disks that I created, I can get an option that gives me:

Startup Repair +(Startup Repair cannot repair this computer automatically-Problem event name was StartupRepair Offline) +.
System Restore + (to use system restore, you must specify which windows installation to restore. Restart the computer, select the operating system and then select the system restore).
System recovery Image +(It can not find anything-I am given the option to Install A Driver but I have no idea which, or if it will help as there are loads on the back up disc) +.
Windows Memory Diagnostic
Command prompt
Microsoft Diagnostics and Recovery Toolset.

I tried several times without success.

Finally, although I can't access from most areas, an option above I can see Hard Drive 1 - Boot X (29 MB of free space of 31.4 MB), devices of removable storage (2) Removabale drive c and D drive CD, which seems to have all the files on it. I can access them from Windows Explorer which is visible in the Otion advanced on one of the screens crash.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello

Here you can find information about the installation procedure using the HARD drive recovery option:
http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/HTD1303440001R01.htm
The installation by using the recovery disk is not really different.

By the way: How did you create the recovery discs? Have you created using the Toshiba Recovery Disk Creator utility?

    Hello

I ve checked specification for your laptop and it says that your laptop has been delivered with the 64-bit version only.
    > For some reason, she came back to 32-bit.
Something like this is NOT possible. You can have the 32-bit version only if a 32-bit version using Microsoft OS installation (clean OS install). Best evidence missing original 64-bit recovery image.

Hi everyone, I bought a laptop Satellite C650D/006 yesterday from the original owner and he is 5 months old, but I don't like the installation of Windows 7 Home premium 32 bit OEM toshiba so I deleted from the hard drive and installed a complete installation customized windows 7 Edition home premium 32-bit and active with the OEM - COA key on the laptop.

After installation, I noticed that the LAN controller has not been installed in Device Manager so I couldn't of internet connection to run automatic updates of microsoft for win 7,

I went to the toshiba website and download the driver of network for this laptop and I installed it manually, and after that the laptop has been connected to the internet via an ethernet cable.

can someone tell me why the LAN Controller software is not installed on this laptop with a custom installation of Windows 7.

even my new dell and HP laptops install this driver when I do a custom installation of Windows 7, so why not this laptop.

    see you soon

    > can someone tell me why the LAN Controller software is not installed on this laptop with a custom installation of Windows 7.

If I understand your message, you have deleted the preinstalled Toshiba OS and installed a clean Win 7 OS in this notebook. Right?
This means that all drivers must be installed after the installation of Windows.
In some cases the Win 7 use standard Microsoft drivers that are part of the operating system and some devices may be recognized automatically, but in most cases you will need to install the correct drivers.

    > even my new dell and HP laptops install this driver when I do a custom installation of Windows 7, so why not this laptop.
Than other cell phones use the same chip as C650 LAN card? I doubt not all laptops use the same LAN chip, which means that different driver must be installed.

HI - have had problems with the Satellite C650D model for a few months - very slow, a lot of viruses, constantly crashing, updates constant, constant "cannot connect windows" and "windows try to repair your system" problems. I have reinstalled factory for the laptop several times, but the problems keep occurring - should I buy a recovery disc - is - it different for recovery system installed? Thank you

    > I have reinstalled factory for the laptop several times, but the problems keep occurring - should I buy a recovery disk > - is - it different for recovery system installed?
Recovery DVDs contains the same recovery image as image stored on the HARD drive, so there is no difference.

To be honest I don t understand what may be the problem.
Can you please tell us what you did exactly (reinstalled factory settings)? I mean how did you do that?

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Satellite C650D-12J which has recently been ravaged by a virus and now refuses to start. Whenever he tries to boot into Windows, it restarts and blue screens.

I ordered the Toshiba recovery media as the most simple solution is to recover the laptop and restore the default settings.

However, when I insert the recovery DVD and choose to boot from the CD/DVD get them all is a loading bar that turns to a black screen with the white cursor. It's her!

    Can anyone suggest a solution?

    Hi MrChris,

You have the same problem if you try to reinstall Microsoft Windows or just Toshiba Recovery disk?

  • Satellite L670 - System recovery media Options

You can use an external hard drive to copy the image of system recovery? The manual, in the States of the system - creating recovery media recovery:

"A recovery of the software on your computer image is stored on the hard drive and can be copied onto DVD or USB Flash Memory using the following steps:"
    1. Select Virgin DVD or USB Flash Memory.
The application will allow you to choose from a variety of different media on which the recovery image can be copied, including DVD-R, DVD-R DL, DVD - RW, DVD + R, DVD + R DL, DVD + RW and USB Flash Memory. »

There is no mention of being able to copy on an external hard drive.

    Hello

This copy of the word is bad. What you create is bootable image stored on DVD or USB. Copy of data simply isn't possible, because later you will not be able to access and start the recovery image installation.

    Best option for you is:
Create DVDs of recovery using preinstalled Toshiba Recovery disk creator tool. This disc, that you can use for installing the OS, whenever you want. I recommend you use DVD-R media.

If you have any other questions you are welcome.

    Hello

If you are not able to recover the laptop using the recovery of HARD drive, then you will need to retrieve the laptop using the recovery disk.
It seems that you didn't create the disc in the just past? Well, it was not a good idea

However, the Satellite C650 is European notebook series. Right?
In this case, you will need the drive recovery for the series of Europeans, and this can be ordered here:

    Everything is fine but when he got to the F = u = \HDDRecovery\SWImg \ZZImg\11675XSP5_swm copy (5/8)

I pressed a button and the screen went white.

Now when I try to start, I get a message:
    BOOTMGR is missing
Press Ctrl + Alt + Delete to restart
whenever I do this, I get the same message.

Any thoughts on what to do next?

Check my answer to your first thread:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/message.jspa?MessageID=248800

BOOTMNG is missing error is displayed because the installation of the OS was not successful.

Try to boot from the recovery disc once more, perhaps you will be able to install the operating system.
If this isn't the case, you must check if the HARD drive is OK. For this, you can use a tool called Drive Fitness Test. This s free software which would test the HARD drive.

If the HARD drive is ok and you still can't install the OS by using the new recovery disc, then it means the recovery disk is defective. In this case, you will need to replace this drive.

  • No sound on Satellite C650D - no driver for Win XP

    HY,

I have a problem with the Satellite C650D, the pilot of
    Toshiba on: http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=EU

I installed windows XP sp2 and it seems the software that they is not good... He takes out... and then it opens and closed 0.5 s and that she, not install no nothing.

Pls help. It gives the message: * Driver Installation failed: could not find the MEDIA device for this driver.*

    Hello

First you need to install Win XP SP3!
SP3 contains significant fixes a MS solutions!
This SP3 must be installed before you install the audio driver.

If you have installed the sound driver then you need to remove it from the system.
In Device Manager, you need to remove the sound card.

PS: the sound chip is Conexant and the right driver is the v Conexant 3.80.0.0 driver that is placed on the page of Toshiba

  • Satellite C650D - the CPU usage is jumping around

I bought a Toshiba Satellite C650D 2 months ago and I used the Windows 7 that came with it, thinking that it was fine and dandy until a few days ago, he started having random lag spikes.

At first he just happen when you watch movies (tried 4 different programs, all reinstalled the driver, scanned for malware, defragmented, you name) and then she started to occur outside the viewing of film aswell. Who did it for me, and I installed Windows XP. I did 3 times now, clean install it Windows XP. Initially, it seemed fine. For a few hours, and then it started lagging really bad, not like in Windows 7, but the CPU usage is jumping all over the boundaries between 1% and 99% at random, but there is no process to take it!

He lags behind what I do, just open the Notepad can blow. I thought that it would work with a format clean, but no, of course the problem reoccured. It might be drivers, see problems in Windows 7 and XP are somewhat different. I'm in my intelligence ends here on what to do, whatever that is would be helpful.

    Hey Buddy,

Looks like on your laptop is a background passes process that is causing this different and high CPU usage.

What happens if you install Windows 7 Toshiba Recovery disk and look in the Manager of tasks? Directly after this installation, you should have a low CPU usage and stable because it s installation of Windows from Toshiba.

  • Satellite P70 - A - installation of Win Pro 8.1

We have acquired satellite computer p70 laptop with pre-installed windows 8.1.
On the other hand, we bought a license for Windows Pro 8.1

We install the original DVD delete old partitions, but when installing or just ask the license number and even if I have to install the drivers and another aparecion as follows version 8.1 no more.

We have looked in the BIOS, but do not see the option to turn off to do a clean install.

    Thank you.

The entire display is a little confusing for me, but try to take certain concrete steps of what needs to be done.

Each laptop comes with OS preinstalled recorded original image of recovery on the HARD drive, so before anything else, you need to create a recovery media with the original version of the OS. After having done that, you can change anything you want. Using the recovery disk you can preinstall original picture of recovery again and have laptop with factory again. If I understand you right didn't make this recovery disk is your mistake.

Anyway, if you want to install own OS you must change the UEFI BIOS settings and enable laptop to boot from ODD and install the new operating system. How to do that you can read on http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB2C03F80002R01.htm

After the operating system installation clean all drivers necessary, tools and utilities you can download from http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp

    Check it out.

I assume you are using original image recovery Toshiba for new OS install, right?
Use you the installation of HARD drive or a DVD recovery created?

On this path, it is not easy to say what the problem is here, but if you are not able to complete the installation of recovery image would do.
