Satellite C660D keeps freezing

This laptop is only two months and continues to freeze on a daily basis, the only thing I can do is to turn off and then restart. Help, please

Reinstall the OS using HARD drive recovery option and start using the laptop with the "settings" again.
Use a few days without installation of additional software to see if everything will be OK.

    Hello

I recently bought a L450D refurbished: Win 7 64 bit, 4 GB ram, 2.1 Ghz AMD dual core, it works much faster than my Toshiba 1 year anyway.

The problem is, it keeps freezing randomly. When this happens the screen looks like the picture in the link, mouse and keyboard are completely insensitive, but I left it and the battery is flat it beep?

So far I've only updated windows, it is the partition of Toshiba hard disk but f8 during the startup does not seem to do anything and when I tried to write the recovery disc it burned but said unable to end of file during the verification step.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

    Hello

Mobile on the photo looks like a problem with a graphics chip.

Maybe the laptop freezes because of the high temperature of the GPU. What do you think that?

Have you noticed a higher temperature?

If Yes, try to clean the cooling fans using a jet of compressed air you should also try an update of the display.

    Hello

Maybe it's a problem of overheating of s. have you checked the cooling fans?
If there is a dust or debris so the cooling vents don't work properly and can't cool the inside of the laptop.
You can use a vacuum cleaner to clean the fans. Maybe it helps.

Please let me know if it works.

  • Satellite A100 keeps freezing after a short period

Hi, I wonder if anyone can help.

I have a Satellite A100 laptop. The laptop starts without any problem. However, after a short period of time the system crashes and I have to reboot the machine.

I am running Windows XP Home Edition. I tried to reinstall a new copy of windows XP Edition family. However, the laptop continues to freeze when I try to do something.

Although the real time, it takes before it freezes changes each time.

I have two 512 MB RAM chips, and I thought it was a fault memory. So I took each chip out, leaving the other chip in. It makes no difference, the machine hangs with either chip.

Help, please. I would like to hear from anyone who might suggest what's not here.

    Thanks in advance

Maybe the temperature inside the laptop could be the reason of this gel.
I had once similar there is question. My frizzy 6 specifications because the temperature affected the memory modules.
So I cleaned the cooling fans using a jet of compressed air and I replaced the thermal grease which is a space between the cooling module and CPU. This helped...

You can try to clean the cooling also fans. But be careful and if you have no experience, then a mobile technician should help you.

    Good luck

  • Satellite A100 - keeps freezing and crashing

    Hello
I've got a 2.5 years old Satellite A100. He was going well until recently, when I found that the pc freezes completely - this looks only happen when I move the cursor on the screen. The only thing I can do, it's a hard re-boot.
The problem has become more common, and I had to reinstall the operating system (using the disc that came with the laptop). After you have reinstalled everything worked well. But all of a sudden the same problem reappeared. I thought maybe it was different software clash between them and so I once again re-formatted the hard drive and reinstalled the operating system.
This time it froze once more as I move the mouse around the screen. But it's happened before that I had installed anything on the PC. It is an entirely new installation.

I also want to mention that this problem occurred first a year ago. At that time I had to wipe the hard drive and reinstall the OS and it worked fine until about 2 weeks ago, when I've updated my "spybot search & destroy ' software." It was after this the problem started again. The rest of the story is as above.

Just to mention that, after that the problem started 2 weeks ago, I reinstall the mouse driver using the touchpad driver that is available on the Web from Toshiba site.

Please help - I have been re - install the OS on / off power for 2 weeks now and I still have the problem. I am close to giong out and buy a new PC!

    Hello

It's strange, and I think it looks like a hardware issue because you used the disk recovery Toshiba and after that, the same problem occurs.

But it's not easy to say what causes this problem. You can check the RAM and HARD drive using Drive Fitness Test and Memtest86. Use Google to find the two programs. You can download an image bootable in these two programs. You must burn it to a CD and boot from it.
If the peut t-tests is a mistake your laptop should be checked by a technician for laptop.

Maybe you can find the problem yourself, and to swap the RAM or HARD drive, it's pretty easy.

    Welcome them

  • Satellite L300 keeps freezing

My laptop freezing guard... it does not always happen, but it began to occur regularly in recent weeks, where all programs stop responding and I can't open the Task Manager, so the only thing to do is to turn the power off.

I tried to reboot in safe mode and restored a system that seemed to work temporarily, but it began to happen again, and even do another restore did not resolve the issue. My laptop is only 8 months old and is updated Norton antivirus running. I did full virus scans but have not picked up anything. The gel does not seem to be caused by any particular software - they just happen randomly, sometimes after an hour or two, sometimes not at all, and sometimes very shortly after I start the computer.

I also run the Toshiba PC tool help diagnosis that came with the computer, and that captures all the problems with the hardware. It seems to be a software rather than a hardware problem, but I can't think of anything that I recently installed which would cause problems, and also the fact that no program is especially on the gel makes it difficult to determine what the problem is.
Other than the tool of diagnosis, System Restore and Norton running, I don't know what to do!

My system is a satellite of toshiba L300, running Vista Home Premium SP1, the processor core 2 duo 2.00GHz, with 2 GB of RAM.

    Any suggestions?

    Thank you!

    Hello

I would recommend first to remove Norton Antivirus because this tool needs a lot of material resources and downs slow down the system.
Instead of Norton, you can use the Avira Antivir.
This software is free and can be downloaded from different pages. I also use it and I m really satisfied.

In addition, you should check if this gel are not related to the high temperature.
You could clean the fans using a jet of compressed air. It will help you to remove the dust from the fans and cooling grids.

    Check it!

  • Satellite L500 keeps freezing

    Hello

CTRL Alt Del dosent even the only way to remedy the situation we work shut it off and restart. I brought the computer because I do a degree United Online and it's not really helping.

    Hello

Have you noticed a higher temperature while the laptop freezes?
In most cases, a more high internal temperature might be the reason of these similar symptoms of laptop.

    What about new OS install?
    Have you tried that?

Otherwise, I recommend that you run the recovery of HARD drive that allows you to reset the device to factory settings

You should also check the RAM using a tool of memtest...

  • Satellite C660D freezes & blue sceen

    Hello

OK, so to start id like to say that I am not very computer illiterate. For spending a few days my Toshiba laptop keeps freezing randomly (I have to turn the power off using the power button / stop to resume using it) more I got this blue screen pop up 2 or 3 times. I also noticed that when I run the scan, or disk cleanup function on my Norton Anti Virus it freezes also. I've had the laptop for about 2 years now. More details on my laptop below:

Name of the template - Satellite C660D
Version of the OS - Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1 6.17601
    BIOS Verson - 1.30
Processor: processor Dual-Core AMD Athlon (TM) II P340
Physical memory - 3072 MB RAM
    64-bit operating system

If anyone with knowledge on this subject could offer me some tips on what to do I would really appreciate it. IM debating whether or not to return laptop to factory settings - which I never tried before.

    Thank you

    Hello

On this virtual path, it is not easy to say what the problem is. We put t know exact setup for laptop and way how you use it, but if you use it for 2 years with original maybe the best factory settings way to have good work and stabile new OS is to install image recovery even once.

After doing this with the fact that you have perfectly clean OS configured operating system. After doing this, you just install Windows updates and everything will be OK again.

To be honest original recovery image can also be optimized, but if you don t have many experiences with him don t do some experiments only. If a friend you have good pc knowledge he can help you with this.

How to install the recovery image, which you can read on http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD1303440001R01.htm

  • Satellite A500 Pro keeps freezing

    Help...

I have a Satellite A500. It keeps freezing.

Sometimes it will boot when turned on, but then as soon as I select a program to open, it freezes.
I can't do anything. I can't control alt delete to open the Task Manager. The only thing I can do is to turn off the power.
So when I turn it back on, it asks me to start in safe mode, I say yes, but the same thing happens.

Sometimes it starts and you can go in outlook and check a few emails and I think it works fine, then it stops and says not responding do not. Then I go to Explorer and the same thing happens.
I have try the Task Manager, but it will not come to the top.

So I have to stop again. It's very frustrating.
I have installed Norton and nothing comes to say there's a virus problem.
I have no error message, it stops just to work.

    Help, please!

The same happens when you start in safe mode? Test it please. Play around a bit with a few options or applications.

Since when did you notice this behavior?
On this virtual path, it is not easy to say why this is happening. It will be interesting to know how your work laptop with factory so if possible to save all your data and install the new OS by using the original installation disc of recovery.

  • Satellite 1100: Excel keeps freezing - too low virtual memory

I have a satellite 1100. My Microsort Excel program keeps freezing (mainly when I print or you are trying to save) and then tells me to stop.

So, I also have a message icon telling me that I am low on virtual memory. Microsoft stop related to memory being low?

How can I increase the memory? Or do I just need a new laptop! Help, please.

    Hello

Satellite 1100 is really an old classic, but he should be able to use common desktop applications such as Word or Excel with no problems
Virtual memory also known under the name a paging file is a file on your disk (default C:\pagefile.sys) than Windows applications and use more physical memory (RAM) according to your needs. The default and the recommended of pagefile.sys size is 1.5 times the amount of physical memory. Virtual memory is the amount of physical memory and the pagefile. So, if your computer has 512 MB of RAM, there is a page file 768 MB by default, for a total of 1.25 GB of physical + virtual memory.

So what to do in your case? Generally, the RAM upgrade should solve this problem. You can also try to increase the size of the pagefile.sys.
This can be done in system-> tab advanced properties-> Performance settings-> advanced-> virtual memory change tab.

After the change of virtual memory, you have to restart the laptop again.
If this will not help then an upgrade of RAM would be required or a new laptop effective ;)

    Hello

    > he told me that the laptop is pretty hot.
No doubt, in this case due to a higher internal temperature
Your friend is already cleaned the laptop?

There is an interesting article in the forum on the Toshiba laptops cooling system cleaning:

  • Satellite A100-225 keeps freezing and crashing with the new HARD drive

    Hi all

I have a Satellite A100-225 with a 100 GB SATA Hitachi drive I int it that recently started showing bad sectors. Then I bought a Hitachi 320 GB SATA II drive to replace it. I tried the drive and it was recognized right away, so I didn't need to change the SATA speed. I ran the restore a disk installed newest. The problem I have is that the computer keeps freezing and crashing with the new drive. It takes a lot of time to load up when turned on and there is a noticeable to untermittant delay when you drag the cards around solo.

I tried to run the Hitachi drive test and it comes back fine. I also tried to turn the SATA speed of the drive down from 300 to 150 via the firmware, and although I saw a slight improvement, it is still not right.

I talked to Hitachi and they say that he could not be 100% compatible, so the problems. Someone at - it else sucessfully set up a replacement for this notebook drive and if so what make and model. Has anyone else had simular problems?

    Thank you

Years ago, I've updated yet more former Satellite M70 with SATA HDD (270 GB if I m remembering well) and everything was fine.
In my view upgrade with SATA HDD normal shouldn't be a problem. Do not SATA II because it will not work faster.

I can't say for sure, but there must be a compatibility problem.

Let's see if someone else had better luck with the upgrade of the disk on the Satellite A100.

Have you checked this forum with advanced search option? Maybe you can find some old NET on upgrade the HDD on A100.

  • Satellite A660-07 s keeps freezing

Last January, I bought a Toshiba portable computer satellite 07 s and it keeps freezing. Mainly, it freezes when commissioning, the awakening of the sleeping and, recently, it started freezing when I unplugged the headset jack.

I took the laptop in the service desk at the store that I bought it to and they told me to do a system restore, but it has not been working for a long time. I recently took in a second time and he sent me to a Toshiba service center they couldn t find anything wrong with her and sent again and after all that, it was another system restore still didn't solve the problem.

    Now what should I do?

    Hello

Maybe the Toshiba service agents could not fix it because they could not replicate that gel. The laptop freezes only occasionally and not always. Right?
Well, that makes it harder and harder.

Have you checked the HARD drive?
Check if using a free tool called Drive Fitness Test. This can be downloaded from different pages.
You can also check the RAM. Of course, I would recommend using new test modules.
    But what to say; This problem may be related to any part of the laptop; It could be a problem software or hardware;
You said that the setting of the laptop back to factory settings helped for a short time; Well maybe, there is a process or a software that affect the functionality of the laptop
