Satellite C670D-10W - Task Manager shows 100% CPU usage

My new laptop with windows 7 factory-installed and all programs by Toshiba nothing addded present 100% of the CPU usage in the task Manager and works quite slow. The sum of 80 strange process in the Task Manager is never more than 30 to 50%, but the key is always 100%.

Process hacker I tried 2, shows the same process in Task Manager.
What can be the problem?

Hey Malki,

He run a background process and they need the CPU usage that of normal. Antivirus is running in the background like other tools as well. As far as I know after the installation of recovery the defragmentation tool runs also in the background.

Interesting to know is what problem you have. I mean usually the CPU usage is not important if you can do everything and computer works correctly.

You have problems?

  • SVCHost shows 100% CPU usage in Task Manager

    Original title: svchost

I have big problems with svchost grabbing all my resources when I turn on first. It seizes slowly up to 100% resources and my computer runsextremely for several minutes. I was told that it is an essential part of microsoft but what is doing?

You must determine which svchost.exe process is hogging the CPU and what service using this process is responsible. In this situation, it is also a good idea to check for malware.

I suggest you download Process Explorer. This freeware utility performs a similar function to the Windows Task Manager, but it goes much further.

For more information about Process Explorer, see here:

In Process Explorer when you have the particular svchost process that interests you right click on it and select properties and go to the Services tab.

  • When I used to hit ctrl, ALT, delete, Task Manager appears. Now, just the screen CPU usage. How can I get that back for the bigger task manager, which, the CPU usage was a tab to the breast? Thank you.

The Task Manager is now just 'CPU' because I must have hit something wrong.  I was hoping just to click on the tab use the CPU in the Task Manager, now somehow when I hit CTRL, remove alt. it shows only the CPU usage graph.

  • Updated 4 question? : the use of the graphics processor shows 60% CPU, but inside the VM Task Manager shows 3-10%

    Hey guys...

Hoping that someone else noticed this. I have a host that is running with a release of U4 freshly updated three virtual machines running. One of the three shows a CPU usage abnormal on customer VIM graphics, but when I'm sitting inside the virtual machine, the CPU usage is normal 3-10% with a bit high spikes every now and than. If anyone else has noticed something weird like that? I restarted the VM and the host and its always show this. VMware Tools are updated etc. His host W2K with 2vCPU and 3 GB of ram.

    Thank you!

Each unique Windows 2000 multi proc machine I P2V would had this problem.  No exception.  The strange thing is that Windows 2000 VM built from scratch are very good.  Change the HAL to single proc will correct the problem, but if you really need and processors multiple (as we do) then the only option I found is to play with the advanced VM option 'monitor.idleLoopSpinUS '.  A value of 2000 is a good compromise for us.

I think first we should know something on your system, then you should run some respectable malware removal tools and then only start troubleshooting of any problems (unless you just want to start guessing and try things).

Because the Microsoft Answers forum does not have any kind of information system request when a new question is asked, we know almost nothing about your system.  Not knowing the basic information a problem prolongs the frustration and the agony of these issues.

Thank you MS Answers, allowing the resolution of simple problems as frustrating and a lot of time as possible.

Provide information on your system, the better you can:

What is your system brand and model?

What is your Internet browser and version?

Your system's disks IDE or SATA drives?

Describe your current antivirus and software anti malware situation: McAfee, Symantec, Norton, Spybot, AVG, Avira!, MSE, Panda, Trend Micro, CA, Defender, ZoneAlarm, PC Tools, Comodo, etc..

The question was preceded by a loss of power, aborted reboot or abnormal termination?  (this includes the plug pulling, buttons power, remove the battery, etc.)

The afflicted system has a working CD/DVD (internal or external) drive?

You have a genuine XP installation CD bootable, which is the same Service as your installed Service Pack (this is not the same as any recovery CD provided with your system)?

If the system works, what do you think might have changed since the last time it did not work properly?

No matter what you use to antivirus/antimalware protection please follow these steps:

Download, install, update and do a full scan with these free malware detection programs at:
    Malwarebytes (MMFA): http://malwarebytes.org/
    SUPERAntiSpyware: (SAS): http://www.superantispyware.com/
They can be uninstalled later if you wish.

I took a quick glance to the use of the cpu and it increase to 100%, it never decreases. When I close the browser, the CPU usage drops to 15%, which is normal. I thought it might be a virus that internet connection and make things slower. That's why I format my laptop. I deleted all of my hard drive and reformatted. I installed Windows again, but he has not changed. I even installed ubuntu (I thought maybe virus can not work under ubuntu), but it's the same thing. I tried to solve it for days I could not sleep properly, I'm about to cry :(

    Please help me please.

    Hello

You have reinstalled Windows using the Toshiba Recovery disk? This drive will restore the settings from the factory with all the drivers and tools so everything should work fine after that.

In addition this happens with LAN or WLAN connection? You should try it with the other connection.
Also check your router and update the firmware. Try to disable the encryption, MAC address filtering, etc.

It's a little more complicated that you might have a few running services that you can do without.

Also some programs add services that might not really need to start automatically.

To see these compare these in Start - type in the search box-> find Services at top right click on RUN AS ADMIN as the default Vista as shown here by BlackViper. Ignore and who are disabled (which do not run) or manual (which work only on request) - for any automatic or automatic delayed start you can post them here if you need help to decide if you should run. Some of these can be assigned to the stop and
Manual if the program calling can run them as needed.

BlackViper made also some improvements to default windows services but I wouldn't do those unless you
really understand the full meaning of change a default service. Then use it as a tool to compare.
