Satellite C850-1NU - update of Windows 8 is suspended

Hi all

I'm pretty useless with computers so would like some advice.

Yesterday, I bought a Toshiba C850-1NU.
Tonight I tried to run windows updates.

The laptop now reads as follows:
"Configuration of Windows features.
15% of full
Do not turn off your computer.

He read this message for 40 minutes. After that I turned off manually the laptop using the off button. To turn it on again, it began the process of updating at 0% and is now suspended at 15%.

What we could do about it?

Thank you very much

Theo

You have the Satellite C850-1NU with pre-installed Win 8?

Here is a nice document that helps you fix Windows 8 System.

  • Upgrade CPU on Satellite C850-1NU

So I did some research lately on what I can do to upgrade my Satellite C850-1NU.

I'm going to 16 GB of RAM and an SSD, but I thought if it is possible to make a CPUupgrade.
In this laptop motherboard is an Intel PLCSF8 according to CPU - Z, and decision-making is taken 988B rPGA.

Then I found one of these on ebay: http://ark.intel.com/products/71465/Intel-Core-i3-3120M-Processor-3M-Cache-2_50-GHz

Then I found a site with something to do with my motherboard: http://browser.primatelabs.com/geekbench3/230190

It is said that the processor is a core i3 3120 m, and it uses the same version of BIOS that I am, so I just want to know, could I buy a 3120 m i3 and put in my Satellite C850-1NU?

    I have a Celeron 1000 m at the moment.

    Hi Theo

Every time when I read the thread on CPU upgrade I m wondering what is the reason for this.
At first, because the CPU upgrade is not supported. There are many reasons why CPU shouldn't be improved. Some of them that you can read on http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB9401AX0001R01.htm

Second, there are some hardware upgrades supported as the RAM and SSD that can be done by the owner of the laptop without any type of risk. I don't know what kind of transactions you make on your laptop but the RAM and SSD upgrade should be sufficient to increase the performance of s for laptop.

A few years ago I ve changed CPU on my old P300 (without guarantee) just to see if there is some difference. To be honest no not at all.
In my opinion, you should increase the Ram with memory compatible modules and exchange the SSD HARD drive. After doing this, you will notice the difference. Perform these two steps first and post comments.

  • Satellite C850 - 1 9 8 Windows recovery disc language NH

    Hello

C850 my gran has a dead hard drive, and she did not Windows 8 recovery disks.
I am pleased to order them directly from Toshiba, but when I do the single lagnuage option is NH.

NH, what exactly? I need them in English.

    Any ideas?

    KeV

I don't very well what means NH but the laptop came out with the preinstalled version of English Win 8 and I guess that the recovery disc m would also contain the English system.

Have you tried the recovery disk? What is the language of the system?

  • Satellite C850 - 1 M 7 - Windows 8 suspended at startup (even on a CD)

    I have a C850 - 1 M 7 which has a curious problem.

Fortunately, he did run Windows 8 Pro for six months without any problem.
Now it does not start in Windows, beautifying the swirly points logo.
Among the courses of action to resolve them and diagnose are:

Windows 8 boot CD (or Windows 7): always hangs at the Windows logo
Format the HARD drive and reimage: reimagee player crashes
Starting in Windows PE: also blocks
Boot from another HARD drive: crashes
Boot in non-windows environment: works great!

We had more than 100 of these laptops which had BIOS published to CSM MBR/boot disk format of imagery of mass, so there is no recovery partition.

Any help to stop from going grey (er) or bald (as an Eagle) would be appreciated!

You have disabled startup secure in the BIOS?
Next to the CSM mode you must disable secure boot at startup from sources other than HDD

It is not free, but if it does what it claims, it might be useful. In my opinion, it gives a money back guarantee in any case.

  • Satellite C850-1NU - BSOD with Page fault in non paged area error

So basically I was looking through the web on my laptop, and then suddenly I got a blue screen of death.
It said Page fault in nonpaged area.

Some people say it means that the RAM could be faulty.
Is this true and if it is faulty should I take it back to PC world where I bought it?

    Thanks ;)

    Hello

The BSOD could be caused by system problems or malfunction of the equipment.

.. and Yes; the BSOD containing the paginated Page Fault in any area error could be related to memory problems, but it could also be a temporal problem that appeared one last time

But if this BSOD will appear in the future for the umpteenth time, I recommend you contact the service partner to verify the material.

  • Satellite C850-1NU - SSD upgrade

    I was wondering,
I want to put an SSD in my Tosh. Please could someone send me a link to one that adapts, and and how they are easy to set up?
    Thank you

In General, you can use almost all SSDS on the market and change the HARD drive isn't a big deal.
Toshiba offers various SSD and you can pick up some info on http://storage.toshiba.eu/cms/en/index.html
You can of course use SSDs from other manufacturers also. If you have time visit your local dealer and check that SSDS are available and to check prices.

After buying one, we can help you with exchange. Let us know if you have one at home. ;)

Is it easy to upgrade my celeron from Intel to something like a Core i7 processor, because I want to improve the performance of game or should I just by a desktop computer and level it?

Hardware upgrade on laptops is very limited and the CPU upgrade is not supported.

CPU upgrade in my opinion is not the solution for you.

  • Satellite C850 - slow fan speed after BIOS update

    Hello

So I have my bios Satellite C850-PSKCEV update version 6.80 (I bought my laptop in 2012), about 6 months ago and since then the fan turns at low speed and will never run full speed as before, and therefore, the laptop overheats prematurely and very quickly and even when the laptop is not in use but market it overheat also game isn't possible as any game that I run (even with the smaller settings) Gets a drop in fps every 5 seconds and lasts for 5-10 seconds that makes even the lightest unplayable games, also I have fear of the continuous overheating of components of the laptop.

I clean the fan and vents the dust and there is not even a particle inside of them and still the fan will not run fast and I can't feel but very slight air flow from the orifice as apposed to tough before this problem.

Laptop model Toshiba Satellite Ref. C850-A811 PSKCEV-00S00FAR
    Intel Core i5 2450 m - AMD Radeon Hd m 7670
    8.1 Windows 64-bit

After updating the BIOS, you should enter the BIOS and should load the default settings.

In addition, you can try to decrease the max CPU to 98-99% performance.

This can be done in the settings mentioned by Liam and to be honest, this change would not really affect the performance of the laptops.

  • Re: Satellite C850 and UEFI BIOS settings

    I have laptop Satellite C850 - 1 2 with Windows 8.1

When I boot, it shows a toshiba logo, not the original flag 8 Windows. It is not so much a problem, but I can't change because the parameter is blocked within the parameters of the UEFI. How can I change this?

I already tried to change through the windows in different ways, but each time it will change the UEFI!

    Help?

To be honest I don't know what to do, you mean with blocked settings, but it can be changed in the BIOS settings.
What you need is to make complete OS stop http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB2B03EY0002R01.htm and after having done that, you can restart the laptop and enter the BIOS (try F12) settings and then you can change all the settings of the BIOS.

    Hello

I checked the Toshiba download page - http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp - and, as I can see, your machine is supported for Win7 64 bit so you can install all the necessary drivers and tools and utilities.

Driver LAN you can download here
Driver WLAN, you can download it here (Realtek WLAN driver).

    Please test and send feedback.

  • Re: Satellite C850 - Windows Update error 800F081F

3-4 months ago, I bought the laptop. Since I have it, it is completely impossible to get an update of windows. It is said that a new program must be installed before getting updates, but once the system tries to install it, it produces the error code 800F081F.

Any idea what can be the problem? Windows is preloaded.
