Satellite L30-149, only works with external monitor and VGA mode

Satellite L30-149, Windows XP Home Edition

Yesterday I did face the following problem:

I swithched on my laptop but I have nothing on the screen. I tried to reboot several times, but it did not help. If I look very carefully, I see the logo of Intel (black text on white on the screen) but nothing else. The logo shows very low.

I plugged on the external monitor. With that he gives a little more. The Intel logo with the instruction how to reach configuration etc. Then Windows logo but when it should ask the user, the external monitor going to sleep mode and nothing happens after that.

And an external monitor, I managed to connect to Windows in safe mode and also in VGA mode. In VGA mode, I tried to change the resolution, after that I got black screen again and I had to start.

Now I wonder if I could do something (update of drivers, etc.) or should I go to the store where I bought the laptop and ask them to fix it. This look like a problem covered by the warranty?

Upgrade to this message (what happened after that I wrote the above text).

I turned on the laptop again. I thing the lightning from the room is now better because I noticed that the laptop seems to work (almost) correctly. Windows starts normally, I can faintly see the desktop. This seems to be a problem in the background ligthning. FnF7 does not change the situation.

This sentence is very interesting.
Sounds like a question of FL-ups!

It is a small part behind the screen and control the backlight of the screens.
Usually, this part is not very expensive and the replacement is not complicated to a technician for laptop.

If your warranty is valid, then everything should be done for free.
Try to contact the ASP in your country and ask for later handling.

Greetings and good luck

  • Toshiba DVD Player & Aero (with external monitor in Extended Mode)

I didn't know a lot about the forum on this subject, but if you Google 'Can not customize Aero' or another similar question you will see that it is a fumble from Toshiba/Vista to overcome, in some cases, as described below.

    * {color: #0000ff} SCENARIO *.
    * {color} * 1 Qosmio G50 - 10H.
2 I had configured a DynaDock in the system and attached to an external monitor to try in "Extended" mode
3 I disconnected everything and then tried to play a DVD by Toshiba Media Player.
4 at this point, I had not looked at combinations of colors Windows or themes.
5 Toshiba DVD Player wouldn't indicating that the Windows Aero scheme should be used.
6 when I implemented the function customize, there is no option in the section 'Color & appearance' Aero.

    * {color: #0000ff} SOLUTION *.
    * {color} * after an unreasonable amount of googling and a multitude of suggestions and solutions, WE work that I present below.

The eccentric solution was to go into settings/customize the display and click on the external monitor (which is gray). Remembering that this monitor is not currently attached, I unchecked "extend the desktop to this monitor". Immediately the Windows Aero was offered in 'color and appearance '. After selecting this regime, with its defaults, the Toshiba DVD movie player worked.

    * {color: #0000ff} GOTCHA EXTRA *.
    * {color} * when I reconnect the Dynadock and you want to use the external monitor in dual mode (extended), I'll have it becomes 'Extended '. What a pain.

In any case, I hope this will help some other poor bastard who gets into this difficulty.

    Thanks for this interesting announcement.

  • Close the laptop and continue to work with external monitor

Hi, I just bought a laptop HP15 and I want to work with an external monitor, keyboard, and mouse, but I have no space in my office for monitor and notebook open.

The point is that when I close the laptop being the PC on, it shuts down suddenly and I can't continue to work.

I can't find the way to establish that the laptop turns off when I close the screen.

  • Satellite M300: speech recognition only works with external usb hub

    Hi all

I have the Satellite M300 I could run the speech recognition program before you have the motherboard replaced due to failure of the usb.

I found using the headset, I can not reach high enough quality to operate it.
The only way I can use the Word program, use an external usb hub with its own power supply.

The problem concerns the audio card, or simply not enough voltage?
    And na fix?

    See you soon

    Hello

The notebooks of USB ports provide a standard power of 500 my.
As I said that it is a standard, but in USB devices different part 3 external cases need more power.

For example, one of my external USB 2.5 HDD s must be connected with two USB ports at the same time to ensure that the HARD disk would get enough power to function properly.

Your external card is unknown to me but maybe it needs more power as usual.

  • Problems with external monitor and the Satellite U200 - 10 d

I have a Satellite U200 - 10 d running Vista Business Edition. When I attach an external display screen flickers (horizontal lines on the screen)... It's worse when you move the mouse on the screen. The monitor on the laptop is fine I just have problems with the external display.

The screen that I is a model VG1930WM viewsonic (widescreen) here is the specs of res for this screen...

    PC VGA up to 1440 x 900 non-interlaced
    Analog analog/digital RGB (75 Ohm, 0.7 Vc - c) / DVI - D

Anyone have any ideas? I checked the graphics driver for vista and this is the latest version...

HM, it's a nice solution, I have a friend with a similar problem.

  • My Satellite R830 does not work with external speakers

Since the restoration of my laptop to factory settings (to solve another problem) it no longer recognizes my speakers when I plug them in, and I can't not all sounds out of them.

I checked and the speakers work fine with other devices.

    Hello

You get a sound using headphones or internal speakers?
Did you check if mute is not activated?

  • Satellite P100-240 only works with ACPI disabled

    Hello

    I recently bought a second hand P100-240.
For a day, it worked very well, and I tested it with sisoft sandra, 3dmark, many games etc.
All played well, and it was not overheating and really powerful.

Then a day later, he just got started while I was using it. On reboot, it will reach point just sign into windows XP Media Center edition and then cut. Even in safe mode, exaclty the same thing would happen.
I left it for a few hours, in which case it was overheated, but the same thing happened when I retested.

I tried the live cd Knoppix, and initially it would turn off at halfway by starting.
Then I tried to run the Knoppix with a "acpi = off" option and it starts very well!.

Also, I have tried many BACK start-up based utils and these well everything worked.
I tested the disk, the cpu (stress and burn in tests), memory (memtest). All tools ran fine and all tested ok (and the machine does not idle)

I tried to install a copy of windows XP alongside XP MCE, but that on the installation screen lists the existing partitions, and the machine would just power off.

So try the Knoppix ACPI thing, I tried to install Windows XP without ACPI (i.e. a STANDARD pc), and he got through the fine installation. Now, I have a fully functional laptop again and can play all the games etc like before. Everything I have disappeared are ACPI some associates of power options.

Now, what I want to know, is this ACPI issue a collateral or the related issue of the BIOS?

Im running 4.40 BIOS, which is the latest BIOS for the p100-240 (PSPA3E).

Is there a previous BIOS, which is perhaps more stable and will work around this ACPI problem? But the confusion is how all it worked well for a day and a half at the start?

    Any thoughts would be helpful.

    Hello

In my opinion, the laptop is closed due to a higher internal temperature!
The point is that the laptop supports protection against overheating and sensors (ACPI Advanced Configuration and Power Management Interface) who would yell at the bottom of the unit automatically to prevent damage.

You said that this happens all by playing a few games. This heavy application leads to higher heat dissipation and therefore the temperature rises.
I think that you should first check your cooling modules if they are not clogged with dust and debris. A compressed air jet pourrait helps get rid of the dust.

Second, you must use the graphics drivers from Toshiba because such driver was designed for the use of the laptop and controls the heat dissipation the GPU too.

  • Satellite M10: CPU only works with 599 Mhz

    Hi all

Just managed to change the motherboard in my after former M10 it had a power failure.
He tells me now that my processor is clocked at 599 Mhz instead of 1.4 Mhz.

Is the processor had it as well?
    Any ideas, thank you.

    Hello

It of simply the case; the firmware must be updated!
After replacing the motherboard ASP always update the firmware on the motherboard. If it has not been done, the CPU is only 598 Mhz.

You must contact the ASP for a update

We have several series of 1110 (Z14 and Z20) laptops and one of them fails to start correctly. Everything works perfectly for 12 seconds, and then it turns off. Each time at exactly 12 seconds.

Does anyone have any suggestions where I should start looking?

I've already replaced everything stands (up to the CPU), but without result. There seems to be something inside the motherboard BTK20.

    Thank you

    > There seems to be something inside the motherboard BTK20.

Seems so if you replaced the common areas like RAM, HARD drive and the processor then the last part would be the motherboard

But what do you think an overheating problem?
I mean that the laptop could close because of the higher temperature
I recommend to check this maybe the thermal grease should be renewed, clean the fans and check again

  • Streaming HTTP only works with F4M?

I'm building a video player and would like to be able to search any part of my videos (flv and mp4).

    Here is my code:

    var video: VideoElement = new VideoElement (new StreamingURLResource (url, StreamType.RECORDED, startTime), new HTTPStreamingNetLoader());

but my mediaPlayer.canSeekTo (time) returns false if it is not downloaded yet, so I can't get to any part of my videos.

Does HTTP Streaming OSMF classes only works with files f4m and stuffs of Adobe (file Packager and original Module) (http://www.adobe.com/products/httpdynamicstreaming/)?

If I want to use with any other HTTP Pseudo-Streaming as http://h264.code-shop.com/trac I would have to handle each request to look for myself (if its returns false to canSeekTo()) as a new video?

PS: I'm already targeting flash player 10.1 (CONFIG::FLASH_10_1, true)

    Thanks in advance,

    Hello

Yes, you must run the package on each file manager.

If you are working on a large video portal, in the long term, it should pay to use the Packager - since you'll be packing your video assets in a manner easily cached by routers, proxies, etc.

Check this beautiful presentation (recording) by Will Law (from Akamai) for some more context:

  • Problems with Satellite L30-149

I recently reinstalled Windows Xp with SP3 on my Toshiba Satellite L30-149. When looking for audio drivers, I found a via
Toshiba support. I was clear Notebook--> Equium L Series--> PSL35E (the only option)--> Windows XP.
I installed this driver without error and now I sound down in the right corner of the desktop.

If it must be installed correctly, but I get no sound from speakers or headphones. I looked at
further discussion and it seems that many people have similar problems. I tried to install the driver for Vista, but it
did not work (worked for somebody else, good...).

    Thanks for your help!

    Best regards

    Fredrik

    > So it must be installed correctly, but I get no sound from speakers or headphones
First of all, you must check whether the sound card is correct and if there is no yellow exclamation point in Device Manager

If the sound card will display correctly without any exclamation point means that the driver has been installed ok.

In the next step, you should check the volume control.
Go to control panel of-> sound-> playback and check volume control settings unique should be set at a higher level.
In addition, check if mute is not activated!

  • Satellite A210 - 10 c only works with the 800 Mhz instead of 1.6 Ghz

    Hello

I have a very big problem. One day, I look in Vista on my resource monitor and see that the max freuquence is only 50%.

So first of all I think that is no problem because the assets 'energy savings' energy recorded.
    I have a Satellite A210 - 10 c portable.

So I switch to maximum power and perform a test of prime95. But hell, the max freuquence has not changed. I also installed everest and cpu z, but all programs show the same to me:

My laptop only works with the 800 Mhz instead of 1.6 Ghz!

I'm looking for drivers for the AMD processor, but you need not for Vista. Update all the drivers of Toshiba and Programms and BIOS (in fact, it is the 1.9).

    Nothing helps.

As a last test, I reinstalled Vista, but also did not help.

And now I'm at a loss what to do.

I hope someone can help me.

    Good bye...

Have you installed the Vista using the recovery CD or the original CD of Microsoft Vista?

I ask because the restore CD contains all drivers for Toshiba and yellow exclamation marks should not be apparently in Device Manager.

If you used the original CD of Vista I think that you have not installed the Package of Intel Robson.

I found the package of Robson on the Toshiba driver-> Satellite P200 area page.

    Maybe you should check this.

    Your comments would be appreciated

  • T500 GMA DVI Boot - Advanced Mini Dock: works with a monitor, but not another

    Hello

I have a type of T500 2242 with GMA X4500MHD graphics in Advanced Mini Dock. BIOS 1.20, startup display set to the DVI connector. Cable DVI - D single-link of the dock-> DVI - D input on external TFT monitor. I get different results according to the attached monitor:

    (2) "Topaz" Soyo DYLM24D6 24 "native 1920 x 1200 S: external monitor stays off, the splash screen appears on the screen of T500.

Maybe there is something wrong with the Soyo is EDID? Or a bad interaction with the T500 BIOS?

I would be grateful for clues on how to get the start screen to display on the monitor 24 ".

    Thank you

    Frank

Good news! I sent my T500 in-service, and Lenovo replaced the motherboard. Now, the startup screen is correctly displayed via the dock to my monitor's DVI port external 24 ". After what Linux / X sees the external monitor and it puts in place and it displays correctly. So: problem solved! Thanks, Lenovo

Before the swap of the Board of Directors system, I was able to use a cable DVI DisplayPort / talk to the 24 "monitor. This requires an extra cable to plug/unplug, so it's nice to finally have the DVI dock work.

It seems that this problem only arises with some ThinkPad + external monitor combinations. My original system card worked fine with a 19 "monitor. And another Member pointed out that a single version of a 19 "works fine with its T500 Belinea monitor, even if a previous version does not. (See this thread for more details.)
