Satellite L30 - BSOD with 2 GB of RAM

Hi all

I have some problems, I can not explain on my * PSL33E L30 *. I bought 2 GB of RAM to put in it, but it makes Windows crashes (BSOD). I already tested memories, they all work alone. Of course they have all the right tip.
Is there something to change in the BIOS or something?

Thank you.

Hey Buddy,

If you get a BSOD with 2 GB of RAM, it seems that the modules are not compatible to your laptop in dual channel mode.

I m not a technician but I mean that's the only possible reason because you wrote that they all work opportunity so they are not defective.

I put t know which modules you bought, but you should test the other modules. I have good experiences with the Kingston memory modules.

    Hi mate,

What new RAM modules that you have bought exactly? For the moment, I think that they are not compatible together and so the BSOD appears. I think you have to use other RAM modules if want 4 GB of RAM.

Also if you run a memory diagnostic tool like Memtest86 doesn't it displays an error if you use the new modules?

    Hello

According to the specifications of the laptop your L30 has ATI RC410MD graphics card. I m not 100% sure, but I assume that it is the shared memory card which means that certain amount of RAM will be used for graphics operations. Due to this RAM more low value appears in cell s system information.

  • Satellite L30-105 with Vista: WinDVD & WMPlayer don't play DVD

I have a new Satellite L30. When I try to play the DVD, I get the following error messages:

WINDVD says "your display environment does not support protected content.

Windows Media Player says "Windows Media Player cannot play this DVD because there is a problem with the digital copy between your DVD drive decoder and video card protection. Try to install a driver available for your video card.

I'm new on Vista so struggling a little to find a way to address this issue. Surely I don't need to download the new decoders/drivers on a new machine - literally right out of the box? Any suggestions?

Can I ask you what kind of DVD did you play?
The L30 doesn't support HD-DVD or Blue ray!

    Use the common original DVD

AFAIK this chipset provides only the 2 GB support

32 bit Vista will recognize only about 3.2 GB.

  • Satellite L35 - crashes with 2 GB of ram installed.

A back of months I posted with [problems about upgrading ram | http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=33029]. Eldorado was great with helping me, I appreciate it.

I couldn't find another 1 GB which was exactly the same as the 1 GB that had been installed a few months back. So I just got 2 new sound. I installed one about 3 weeks ago, the computer works great since (1 GB OCZ + 512 MB Stock). I installed the 1 GB 2nd Sunday and I'm back to having problems. (just to clarify, they are the same exact brand, speed, model, I bought them a week and a half hand because of the discount that was on them).

After installation of the memory so that I got 2 x 1 GB in the computer, it starts fine, but then we try to play a game and it crashes, one of the highlights being BSODS, that time it was a black screen. We tried with 2 different games, counter-strike source, and an old not very intensive game called painkiller.
I don't know where to go from here, the memory is this - 1 GB 667 MHz DDR2 PC2-5400 200 PINS OCZ - CL 5-5-5-15
I try to research as much as I can before you post, and the only conclusion I can come to is that it is because she is at 667 MHz.
The two sticks were the previous 1 gb 667, but they both installed at the same time, stock stick either, if I remember correctly, 533 MHz.

    Thank you guys

I had a similar problem of memory on my laptop to 7 years.
I've updated with modules of 2 x 512 MB of RAM, and after a short period a BSOD appeared.

I thought that it s a faulty RAM or a compatibility issue and so I bought a second modules. It was exactly the same. But the BSOD appeared again.
Finally, I tested the two memory slots using the modules unique and found out that the BSOD appears only with a second location of memory in connection to high temperature.

Simply said the high internal temperature hit my second memory slot, and this led to a BSOD. Now I can use only one memory slot.

I don t think that your second slot memory may be defective due to the fact that you have already used the module 512 MB in the second block memory. in my opinion, the question must be linked to the new module installed memory either TI s really a compatibility issue or the second module is malfunctioning.

    Good bye

  • Satellite L300 - 16L - BSOD with new modules of RAM

    Hello

I have a Satellite L300 - 16L and make me the same problem.

Has got 2 x 1 GB DIMMS standard and ordered 2 new 2 GB DIMMS. If I put the 2 new 2 GB DIMMS in I get the BSOD, Memtest also crashes as soon as it starts to test. If I place a 1 GB Dimm in the lower slot and a 2 GB in another windows starts fine, if I try to put the 2 in the lower slot and 1 GB in the higher the BSOD that he.

But if I put either of 2 GB on the lower slot his own windows boots fine, mem test has also allows to test the two GBs 2 individually and said no problem.

Any ideas anyone? My laptop is supposed to support 4 GB, I'm sure of it.

    Thank you
    JJ

    Hi Jack_Jumpin,

    > My laptop is supposed to support 4 GB, I'm sure of it.
Why you are sure that your laptop supports 4 GB of RAM?

I checked the specification of your laptop on the Toshiba page and this L300 - 16L supports only 2 GB. This means that you can only use two modules including 1 GB of capacity.

Sorry, mate, but you can use t 4 GB. The chipset supports only 2 GB.

  • BIOS wouldn't boot on the Satellite L30 - 101 with 2 x 1 GB RAM

I bought the machine with a module of 512 MB RAM of PC World. Everything worked OK, but Vista performance was not so good.

I decided to increase the RAM memory and bought two 1 GB modules. After you install both modules, the BIOS seems to hang.
Sometimes the screen stays black with a cursor flashing on the left, sometimes top that the Welcome screen appears
but when I hit F2 to enter setup that has nothing happened.

I removed one of the memory modules and rebooted the machine - everything beautiful, Vista has started.

I've interchanged the modules (still 1 GB installed) and restarted - everything beautiful, Vista has started.

Then, I added the original 500 MB in slot 2 (1.5 GB installed) and restarted - everything beautiful, Vista has started.

The next step was to check for an update of the firmware. V2.3 on machine v2.6 upgrade BIOS.
Has gone through the same tests to get the same results.

An error message is displayed intermittently - it reads:

The file is possibly corrupted. The file header checksum does not match the checksum calculated.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you in advance.

    Hello

seems to be a strange problem. It might be that the modules of memory are incompatible, but for that you have to post what brand these modules are, and where you bought them.

Please report anything that is written on the modules, maybe they are really incompatible that probably a recent problem on mobile platforms, not just with computers laptop toshiba. Other brands have the same problem.

I would appreciate any comments from you.

    Welcome them

    Hello!

Maybe the modules are not compatible to your laptop.

Have you also tested a RAM?

He would check the modules with a special tool called Memtest86.
With this program you can test if RAM is faulty or not
