Satellite L300-171 - defective memory slot

Hello, Toshiba users!

I am the proud owner of a laptop Toshiba Satellite L300-171, purchased last year.
one of my memory locations stoped work 4 weeks ago.

This model comes with 3 GB of DDR2 667 MHz RAM. Now it shows me only 2 GB.
I swapped the modules between them (I thought that maybe the 1 GB module not working not) and I have 1 GB of memory. Thus, the two RAM modules work. It's the slot.

You know any reason why this could happen during the night? (perhaps a CMOS setting or something).

And is it true that memory slot can access 2 GB of memory?

To see the specifications of this model to access to this

I have the same operating system as it came with: Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit

Thank you very much for any answer

> Do you know of any reason why this could happen during the night? (perhaps a CMOS setting or something).
Each issue goes unexpectedly

I have an old... my laptop is about 8 years old... The RAM slot died after 5 years of use I think the higher internal temperature might be one of the reasons why this slot could damage

In my case, the laptop crashed. I removed a faulty slot RAM module and everything worked properly.
The old RAM modules were 512 MB now I ve got a 1 GB of RAM in a housing and the second is empty

  • Satellite Pro L300 - second defective memory Slot?

Hi, I'm trying to install 4 GB of memory in a laptop Satellite Pro L300. This kind of thing, I did a thousand times before.

However, every time I install a module of memory in the second memory slot, the laptop will be a blue screen when windows is loaded. Even running memtest (via bootable cd) will result in a block, so it is not for lack of Windows.

I have the latest version of the BIOS installed (1.50)

Each module of memory works perfectly in the main location on its own.

With the help of a single module of memory in the memory secondary slot (even the original 1 GB module) translates the laptop does not even start.

Is this a known issue? Or is it just a second faulty slot?

    Thank you very much!

Maybe it's a non compatible memory module.

What model of laptop you have exactly (L300-xxx)?
    What extra RAM you bought?
    Have you checked the compatibility?

To be honest on this forum you will find many forums where people have described the same problem after upgrade. Most of these problems described was linked to the use of markets and not compatible good RAM modules.

I have a problem with my L300-1BW. Recently, I replaced my memory and upgrated to RAM 2x2gb.
As I replace my Celeron T1600 1.6 Core 2 Duo T7500 2.2 my Toshi proc get so much that I consider myself as RAM upgrade even more.

And it says: "maximum extension: 4 096 MB.

I was wondering if it means limiting 4-GB PER SLOT? OR TOTAL?

I'm stuck, cause I typed "dmidecode t memory" on my OS of mint and stated as follows:

    Hey Buddy,

I agree with Timox. The best place for spare parts here an authorized service provider because they can order all the parts of Toshiba and make you a good offer.

In your case, I recommend you guys and ask for assistance and how much it would cost, etc. Here is their list:

  • Satellite L300 - problem reading memory in the slot/Bank 2

    Hello.
I have a Sattelite L300 with 2 * 1 GB memory which had strange problems of som.
Among a large number of tests, I tested the memory inside.
When there is a module of memory installed in slot/Bank 2 (the one closest to the bottom of the pc)
I get an error. Bought a new module, but I still have an error, so the error must be with the Bank/slot.

Tried cleaning the connectors of slot with a brush-glass, without a bit of luck.

The pc works perfectly (but slow), with 1 GB installed in the slot/River.

Can someone help me with this problem?

    Concerning

    I agree with Akuma.
If two modules don t work in the second slot but in the first place, then the second slot is defective and that means this motherboard must be replaced.

    Hello

My laptop is Satellite L300-255. I have improved it's ram to 4 GB. I want to increase the graphics card 1 340 MB. In the specifications of the laptop, he said that the graphics card can increase if the Ram has increased to 3 GB

    Hello

Shared graphics memory is controlled by GPU driver. You cannot add or edit it manually.

More depends on the Windows OS you use, because the 32-bit system can manage max 3.2 GB of system memory.

    For example:

    * (32 bit OS) *.
    System memory: 2GB | 4 GB
Dedicated video memory: 128 MB | 128 MB
    Shared system memory: 702MB | 1214 MB
TOTAL available graphics memory: 830MB | 1342 MB

    * (64 bit OS) *.
    System memory: 2GB | 4 GB
Dedicated video memory: 128 MB | 128 MB
    Shared system memory: 702MB | 1631 MB
TOTAL available graphics memory: 830MB | 1759 MB

    Hope I could help you

    Hello

I bought this system as my first laptop from Toshiba.

So I went ahead and it opens from the bottom and I see only two slots (2x2gb).

Is there some more hidden across what locations they mob or is it information crucial false?

I can't find a proper documentation on the toshiba Web site.

I want to share some memory to improve the proceedings of VGA card.
I know that I need to do from the CONFIGURATION of the BACK but I can't and I need to improve my VGA card because the default is so so small... I want to give him some PART of MEMORY (RAM) SYSTEM

    PLEASE I NEED HELP

    THANK YOU GUYS;

    Hey Buddy

Unfortunately, I doubt that you can allocate a portion of system memory to video memory manually. AFAIK this sharing process is controlled by the driver for graphics card and all run automatically.

On the other hand the graphics card driver could assign more memory for video card if the system memory could be upgraded.
In other words the higher system RAM superior video RAM.

Satellite L300-229 - I just installed an extension of memory of 1 GB to add to the existing 1 GB.

I used a 1 GB Crucial 200pin DDR2 SODIMM PC2 6400 CL6. For some reason, it will not recognize it and shows again that the 1 GB. I closed and installed in start mode according to manual and tried to reinstall.

    Hello

What happens if you only install the new module 1 GB RAM? Don't start the computer and if so how much RAM does show?

Normally, the specifications of the new RAM module should work. I have a Satellite L300 too and I've updated it with the same RAM but Kingston. It works without any problem. :)

  • Satellite 3000 - x 4: this model has how many memory slots?

    Hello

I have a question on this model of Toshiba Satellite 3000 - x 4 PS301E - 000 K 8 - EN I took the chassis on this model today to do a repair for someone in my family work. When I took the VGA card, I discovered what looked like an another memory location.
So my question is how many slots memory model there?

I read online and I checked the profile page and they all point to this model with two memory locations.
If this is the case then what is this thing that resembled a memory slot under the vga card?
I had to buy another piece of RAM for this model today make three, but I decided on a little hand to check it out first.

There are already two sticks of laptop memory already, 512 MB, and 128 MB. This model can take up to 1 GB.
So, what do you think is there memory locations two or three on this model?

I have the right part number to install memory for my Satellite phone but don't know how to do it. all the tips and tricks on how/where to open up the laptop and insert the memory card?

    Thank you!

    Chris

Memory locations are generally accessible from the Base of the laptop.

Find a door with a screw, remove the screw and lift the door. You should see two memory slots (with a free location according to the model).

But you must make sure that your laptop can take 2 GB modules. I think that if you have a Celeron processor, the system cannot take more than 1 + 1 GB

  • Satellite L300D-10 q: I can find only one memory slot

I want to increase the memory from 1 GB to 4 GB.
However when I remove the cover I see 1 location with the current in module.
The literature indicates there are 2 slots and it is expandable to 4 GB.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hello

The Satellite L300D supports two memory for sure locations.
The slots are placed at the bottom of the unit. You can find it in the middle. The slots are secured with a screw. Under the plastic cover, you should find two memory locations.

Sometimes the second slot can be hidden under the first memory module

  • G7-2235dx - memory Slot defective/made not climb in memory Slot

Recently I bought a package of 4 GB of DDR3 1600 PC3 12800 for my laptop. I received it today and progressed to install after the direcitons given to the user of my laptop manual. But never well switched memory. It seems that the retention clips are not long enough, or there is something blocking the module to go fully into the slot of memory. I found that odd. After finding out that memory does not fit in the slot, I removed the HP factory memory module, it is the crack and tried to put it in the slot of the replacement part or defective. Also, there is no good. Just for clarification, I tested the memory purchased in the slot of the workign and memory works perfectly. I wonder what could be the problem with my memory slot.

I called HP support and they said it would cost me $290 for the slot to be repaired. I find it a lot since I paid $300 for the laptop itself.

    Any help is apprechiated.

A motherboard itself is going to be at least $ 125. There is work. Of course, it does not. I put 4 gigs in it in the a good slot and just use it.
