Satellite L300 - clean install Win 7 SP1 64 bit

I just did a clean install of Windows 7 64-bit, replacing the normal 32-bit Vista that comes with the laptop.

The facility has been good, but I have a few questions about the following:

I adjusted the automatic run settings to ask every time for all selections. The problem is that when the game DVD in WMP or VLC disk reads but is noisy. It is very good for the s CD without excessive noise. The acoustic silencer on the download site is for 32-bit, but can be used in this laptop. In the original Vista there is no noise at all, so I wonder if there is other parameters that can sort this point, otherwise I'll have to keep changing things manually with the acoustic silencer.

I noticed a very low noise coming from laptop (like a lighter version of a business when you're boarding Jet it). I ran a video memory Stress Test CE and he showed a few errors. If I reduce the brightness of the screen there is less noise so I wonder if it's something to do with the Panel of inverter of screen I'm sure that's not the HARD drive or the cooling fan, but it could be something on the motherboard.

On the backup plan Acronis will slow down my system or are Win 7 OK backup options?

Thanks a lot for all the possible solutions to these problems.

A long time ago I've installed Win7 32 bit on friends Satellite L300. It worked perfectly. Much better than original Vista.
> I still don't know what is the best test for the screen.
I put t understand what kind of test do you mean. I hope that you have installed the right display driver and LCD works perfectly with a native resolution.

Win7 recovery with Acronis image creation is, generally, the right decision. With this disc, you can install Win7 again and again very rapidly and you should not install every single driver separately.

If you want to keep this laptop any longer I think it is worth to buy it. One last thing: you will buy it once and you can use it in the future too if you decide to buy the new laptop or PC.

    Hello

When I tried to launch the Win 7 Service pack 1 update, it 'impossible' and now I can't start my computer, even in safe mode. When I turn it on, no matter what I do (including let it run or by pressing F8) results in the message:

"For Atheros PCIE Ethernet Controller v2.0.1.0 (15/12/09)
Check the connection of the cable!

i.e., I can't go to the start menu.

The only thing I can access is the utility Boot screen by pressing F12. Experience with Service packs, I'm trying to access the system restore to undo the update, but I can't get there.

Win 7 came preinstalled on my computer and my computer was working fine before I tried to install SP1, so all the solutions / advice would be much appreciated!

    Hello Thomas_Si,

Thank you for your message.  Please, try the following steps:

Since you have already downloaded and run the system update tool, you can move on to step 2.

    1. According to your architecture of Windows 7, download / install and run the tool update system - CheckSur you can download the tool from the links below depending on your system type.

Download the tool update system (64-bit)

Download (32-bit) system update readiness tool

    2. click Start type cmd (you should see the command prompt fill up) right click and select run as administrator

Inside the command prompt, type sfc/scannow

For more information regarding the file system checker.

    * If corruption is found, see How to use the System File Checker tool to fix the system files missing or corrupted on Windows Vista or Windows 7

    3. once the SFC is finished, check your hard drive for errors.

4 restart the system update readiness tool. If errors have been eliminated, try to reinstall Service Pack 1. If this is not the case, go to step 5.

    5. perform a Startup Repair, when starting, try to install the Service Pack.

Please let us know the details of each scan or utility. We can't wait to hear back on your part.

  • Clean install Win XP

    Location:
I have a Sony VGC - 830G provided with Windows XP3 OEM preinstalled. (IOW about 6 years). I have 2 hard drives (150 GB each) set up in RAID 0 with four other partition D (media), E (images created by Paragon), F (games), G (various programs). There is a hidden partition somewhere containing system restore stuff. I have the cd of Win XP with integrated SP3 I want to clean install instead of use the restore cd that I created when I bought the pc.

    Issues related to the:
    1. If I clean install Win XP, this will affect only the drive when I installed it in C?
    2. I still can access other partitions if I reinstall partition magic and paragon drive backup programs?
3 will be I could reuse the restore cd original return to the bloated OEM system that came with the pc?

  • Intel Centrino Advanced - N 6205 WLAN causing blue screen (BSOD) on Elitebook 8570w Win 7 SP1 64 bit

    Hello world

In recent months, I use a 8570w Elitebook.

I can't tell you when the problem started, but as soon as I unplug the notebook from the power supply and WLAN is enabled, I get a blue screen after a while. Sometimes, but not this oftehn, I encounter this problem even when the laptop is connected to the power and WLAN is enabled.

I could not determine when exactly this blue screen, but it's certainly the WLAN (Bluetooth is disabled in the BIOS for the moment). It happens most of the time when I'm under two or more virtual machines with VMWare Workstation (version 9.0.2).

The WIFI card is an Intel Centrino Advanced - N 6205. I tried several drivers (mid-2012 at the latest in April 2013) with a complete uninstall of the previous drivers. Without success. Operating system is Win 7 SP1 64 bit.

Google helped me a bit and I found an Intel forum where people are describing almost the same problem with these Intel WLAN modules.

Checked the Knowledge Base of HP and I am just find more messages do not deal with the new modules.

Should I consider replacing the WLAN (guarantee) card? Someone knows the same issue and was able to find a solution/workaround?

    All opinions are appreciated.

    Thank you
    Jerry

    Hello world

Finally, I have launched the Intel WLAN module and replaced by a Broadcom module (HP spare part number: 669832-001, Broadcom model: BCM943228HM4L) with the driver version: 6.30.223.228 (05.02.2014).

This solved my problem of blue screen. Intel (same as last) drivers do not work with the configuration I have on my Elitebook 8570w and I gave up to find an another software/driver associated solution. In recent weeks, I can run multiple virtual machines in VMWare (9.0.4) without problems.

Hope this information is of help to anyone who is struggeling with the Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6205 WLAN module.

    Cheers, Jerry

  • Failure of KB974431 update with 8007000D on a clean install of Win7 Pro 64-bit

    Hi all

I just finished a clean install of Win7 pro 64 bit and everything looks on with the activated product key.  I'm applying 50 some important updated via update, but I have one that fails each time, KB974431.

According to this thread: http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistawu/thread/27737d55-9c10-44b5-b701-6ba147c78364, another person having this problem had luck manually download and install the update.  But it did not work for me (I created a new thread because his son was in the installation forum).

KB94431 was also causing problems for people who concoct a C004F050 error as in this thread:http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistawu/thread/ff57f326-0f1d-412c-a4d0-14de1eaf0836/ although I didn't have this error, I tried running sfc/SCANNOW and he did report that he "finds corrupted files but could not solve some of them."  I don't really know what I should look for in the CBS.  By suggestion of the thread, I installed 64-bit Windows Update Agent and Windows Update is represented nothing doesn't.

I think I have a corrupted file update is already downloaded that Windows is trying to use each time and it fails.   They seem to live in files Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download and Windows\Servicing\Packages.  Although I can change the permissions to delete the file in Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download (and I've tried it without change of failure), access is denied whenever I try to touch the Windows\Servicing\Packages or its content.

The only installed software were the latest EVGA nforce and drivers for video card, Norton Security Suite and the SoundBlaster last for my sound card driver.

    Any suggestions?

(64-bit capable) 32 bit Vista Home Premium... I can do a clean install of Windows 7 64-bit professional?... from a flash drive?... to change the boot order?... or at all?

    Hello

That's right; with Vista Home Premiun upgrade paths are for Windows 7 Home Premium or Ultimate.

It is one of the reasons why you should do a clean install.

The other reason is that you can NOT put 32-bit to 64-bit.

You need a clean install to do.

Follow these steps before you install or buy Windows 7:

Go to your computer / computer laptop manufacturer Web site and see if Windows 7 drivers are available for your make and model computer / laptop.

If this is not available, Windows 7 will not properly work for you.

Run the "Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor.

  • Can I install Win 7 Home 64 bit on Win 7 Pro 32 bit

Current running Win 7 Pro 32 bit, need to upgrade to 64 - bit and can not really afford to pay the Tagus almost $300 price for Win 7 Pro 64.  What I peux/how to install Win 7 Home 64 bit on my machine?  Do not really need the Win 7 pro feature.

You must perform a 'custom' / pure install the 64-bit version because there is no "Upgrade" path

This means that you must back up all your important data (Documents, music, photos, video, Etc.) to external media. In addition, you will have to reinstall your applications once installed the 64 bit version of Windows, so round up all the media application you and product keys before you start.

Also create an image backup of your version of 32-bit as a fallback option just in case there are questions.

Then, download the device drivers 64-bit on the web support site you PC from the manufacturer and burn them on a CD.

Now you are ready to start the 64-bit installation.

No need to buy the home Premuim

If you have a business retail or OEM of Windows 7 Pro version, you can download the. ISO file listed below, create a bootable DVD using Image Burn and then install the 64-bit version of Pro using your existing 32-bit product key located on the bottom of your laptop or on the side of the cover of a desktop PC to activate Windows by phone if necessary.

    =================================================

Download Windows 7 proper. ISO file (must match for your product key version)

    Windows 7 Professional 64-bit: http://msft.digitalrivercontent.net/win/X17-59186.iso

After you download the .iso file using ImgBurn or gear to create a DVD ISO bootable.

Burn the ISO Images with ImgBurn article: http://neosmart.net/wiki/display/G/Burning+ISO+Images+with+ImgBurn
(The steps are the same, except that you do not create a repair disk but complete an installation DVD)

Note: Always use DVD + R media and slower burning (4 x or 6 x) speed is offered a choice.

    ====================== Keyless Install ================================

How to make a 'Keyless Install"of Windows:

Boot from the Windows 7 DVD disc, you create and launch the installation.

After entering the username and password you will be asked to: "Enter your Windows product key", do not enter a key.
Also located right underneath the box where you must enter the key is a box with a check box 'Automatically activate Windows when I'm online', remove the checkbox and click "next".

You now have a 30-day grace period to activate Windows.

During this 30-day grace period you can try to solve your problems.
After you are satisfied with all the problems have been resovled then activate Windows.

    ====================== Device Drivers =================================

Go to your computer manufacturer's support web site and search for Windows 7 drivers for your specific model number.

If there are Windows 7 drivers, then to download to a folder on your hard drive and install all of them, starting with the card drivers mother/chipset, SATA, LAN, Audio, USB, graphics, Webcam, Etc., and so on.

  • Satellite L300 - cannot install Microsoft updates after replacing HARD drive

I am repairing a Satellite L300, which had a dead HARD drive. I replaced death 160 GB of HDD with a 500 GB WD, then used the recovery disks to install Windows Vista SP1 at the exit of the State of the box.

Now, Windows update does not work, won't install autonomous not of Vista SP2 I downloaded, MS Security Essentials moved there also.
Then I borrowed a 160 GB of work and went through the same process and everything works fine.

To make it work with a 160 GB HARD drive, but not a 500 GB HARD drive. Why?

    > ... Standalone Vista SP2 I downloaded will not be installed
Usually after installing recovery image, you have just to connect laptop to internet and after a short period of time, you will get messages about available Windows updates. Just install the offered updates process automatic Waterer and install important updates only.

Let the system to install all the updates and don t force the installation of some own downloaded stuff.
Last month I've updated HARD drive (320 GB I think) and installed Win7 on friends L300 and I didn't noticed any problem here.

  • Satellite L300 - after installing XP it does not find the WiFi router

After insatlling XP SP1 and insatlling a lot of everything except drivers WLAN works. I installed the drivers and I install Atheros to manage my connections, but it seems not yet to find the wifi router.

I use toshiba satellite l300 pslbce.
PS! I had the laptop that works on Ubuntu berfore, worked well.

    Hello

Have you updated XP SP2 or SP3? I m wondering that you only use the SP1 and you need to update. SP2 or later is required for some pilot applications and software.

And where did you downloaded the Atheros driver? You must use the driver from the Web from Toshiba site. The portal of WLAN, you can find the latest drivers:

    Welcome them

  • Re: Satellite L300-254 - need Win XP driver for WLan and FN keys

I have laptop satellite L300-254 pslbge and have problems with drivers. This computer was emty (no recovery disk or drivers) then I bought it.

I installed Win XP SP 2 disabling AHCI. Instaled the common Modules, Chip Set Utility, and when I try to install the drivers of controls (for the Fn keys). It is said that I did not install common Modules.

Tried to install the WiFi drivers (realtek, but I do not know if the wlan hardware is realtek), but it is not recognized in Device Manager, (? ethernet controller), Lan works well.

So please help me with wlan and the Fn keys problems

    Hey Buddy!

I m using a Satellite L300 too with XP and I t notice any problem. It works correctly and the Web from Toshiba site displays all the drivers and tools for this.

However, firstly everything that you should make sure that you have installed all the drivers for your laptop. The site Web of Toshiba shows only Realtek driver for WIFI then I guess you have Realtek WLAN card. You can run setup.exe to install drivers or if you get an error message?
If you are not sure, you can also check what WLAN card you have on this site:
    http://www.PCIDatabase.com/
The vendor and device ID, you can see in-online WLAN card properties Device Manager.

Toshiba tools for FN keys, I can only say that you must install applications first Toshiba and then all the other common Modules. Common modules are required for all Toshiba applications works. Then remove the tools installed Toshiba and use this installation order that I used successfully on my Satellite L300:
    Toshiba Common modules
    TOSHIBA Hotkey utility
    Toshiba Touchpad POWER utility
    Toshiba Utilities
    Toshiba controls
TOSHIBA Power Saver (not necessary, but very nice tool).

    I hope I could help a bit.

    Good bye

  • Satellite L300 - need to Win Vista product key

I have a Satellite L300. OS recently broke down and recovery CD does not work.
I got another CD of instalation windows vista but windows at the back of the laptop dispelled the label, and I can't read the code.

I can provide the invoice product or information of the laptop required for security reasons.

How can I return the product key?

    Thank you

Product key placed in the lower corner of your laptop is useless for you. Why?
This product key is for the original version of recovery that you have with your machine and cannot be used for activation if you install Windows by using the original Microsoft facilities.
