  • Satellite L300D 242 how to restore factory settings

My sister has a Toshiba Satellite L300D 242, and she is very unhappy with her because she seems to have more than enough problems.

The problems, that she told me about all seem more like general maintenance would have prevented them, but I offered to files his laptop to its original specifications and she's happy with it.

I'm a bit irritating to play with things for the first time, however, and that's because I've never reformatted a before Toshiba and I worry in case there might be an unexpected stumbling block that I'd better know.

I have restored my Acer several times and it's been no problem, no problem at all. Is a Toshiba Satellite L300D 242 restoration as simple?

Can someone tell me the procedure I should follow to restore L300D 242 sister, please? I don't know if she restore disks, in case anyone asks, I have him asked and I'm waiting for a response.

    Thank you very much.

    Hi waynum,

If the original OS from Toshiba is installed you can restore the factory settings as described HARD drive recovery option here and in * user manual *:
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/HTD9102IR0000R01.htm

    > I don't know if she has any restore disks
Normally the laptop come without recovery disks, but you can create them yourself using preinstalled Toshiba Recovery Media Creator. Just start this preinstalled Toshiba tool and follow the instructions on the screen to create the recovery disks.

  • Satellite Pro S500 - Freezed at Toshiba leading innovation frontpage

    Hello

My new Satellite Pro S500, age: 2 hours have just made the 'start-up' and installed all the drivers. My first step was to spend + updated windows + and update various security patches, etc. Windows identified 74 updates - and let the laptop do the download. He installed about 15% and restarted automatically. The laptop started upwards, installed about 30% and restarted.

Now, the laptop has * freezed * on the first page of "Toshiba - Leading Innovation". If I try to power off the laptop computer he turns to fashion - watch and go back to the page of "Toshiba" once again.

Any ideas of how out of this loop?

    Thanks in advance
    B

    Hey,.

And have you ever tried to remove the battery and the AC/DC adapter? Try this and leave both disconnected for at least an hour.

Then install the battery and plug in the AC adapter and try restarting your laptop. T he past the BIOS Toshiba screen now?

  • Satellite Pro P300 - 23L: can't get screen Toshiba Leading Innovation

This is a cut and paste from a previous post, but the one I'm having a problem with today (save me typing again!):

When I start my laptop, it stops on the first screen of the Toshiba innovation and only gives the opportunity to do two things. That's what he said to prevent the page * "Press F2 to enter Setup, F12 to access the selection of Multiboot Menu" * I tried both. I pressed F2, I press F12 and no one bothers me pst screen

-When I press on either after the Toshiba screen is visible, they do nothing
-If I press "F2" at the start, upward, the instructions at the bottom of the page says "Please Wait". However, I waited for hours and nothing ever happened. The "Please wait" message just sitting there.
-If I press F12 during startup, upwards, the instructions at the bottom of the page says "press F2 SETUP, Entering boot device selection menu... "Then he is there and does anything just
The screen Toshiba Leading Innovation remains all the time.

I have tried removeing the battery and draining flea power - this does not solve the problem.

When I restart the laptop, I get the situation according to the line 1 above. No amount of tap F8 does nothing... I'm still back to the page of the main Innovation of Toshiba.

The fan works, but the HARD disk led never sparkles.

    Any suggestions please? Thank you

    Hello

If the laptop is unable to pass the home screen Toshiba (POST-puissance on self test) then this behavior of the laptop is mainly related to a serious hardware problem.

The defective HARD drive would not cause such a problem, because even if the HARD drive is faulty, the laptop must be able to pass such screen...

So I guess there is something wrong with the RAM or the motherboard.
Here you can check how to remove the RAM modules and insert the new memory:
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/CRU9902O80001R01.htm

If the problem is not related to defective RAM, then other parts like the motherboard (maybe module BIOS EPROM) must be verified... but such verification requires additional special tools and that's why I think it would be a job for a laptop technicians...

  • Satellite A100-906 - gel @ Toshiba Leading Innovation

    Hi all

All the world is facing a problem where the laptop freezes on Toshiba Leading Innovation. The weird part is that, when you connect the laptop to an external monitor, everything works well.
I tried to replace the LCD, Inverter, cable LCD and VGA (its Nvidia 256) and still the same problem.
Updated the bios to version 6.0 always the same. Read in some forum that downgrading to version 5.90 will solve so made but still the same thing.

I don't know if it has nothing to do with the error of TPM secure that I get. When I turn on the laptop and you press ESC before it freezes, after memory check it says that "no TPM or TPM has problem" (note that this error even when you plug in an external monitor but on external everything works fine. and after loading windows if you switch the monitor to the portable computer LCD laptop works very well without any problem)

I check in the Bios, TPM option is greyed out then you cannot activate or disable it from BIOS.

    Hello

I think it s a hardware problem seriously looks like the motherboard could be assigned to all ports (VGA port as well) are part of the motherboard.
It s very strange that the laptop could start only if the external monitor is connected, but in my opinion, this can be only a related problem of the motherboard
    I have no other explanation

Sorry mate for this General info, but that's all I can suggest to the present case

  • How to remove the DVD ROM on the Satellite L300D 242?

    Hello

my laptop (* Toshiba L300D 242 *) DVD ROM has been damaged and I have acquired a new and now I can not figure out how to remove my old DVD ROM and replace it with a new one... Please help me understand how to remove the old and replace it with a new one...
    Thank you...
    E-mail: [[email protected]]

Agree with Feliks the ODD is secured by a screw hidden in the HARD drive Bay.
So the HARD drive Bay cover must be removed to access this screw procedure is not really difficult, so you should be able to remove it easily.

  • Satellite L300D-01N - need of the keyboard shortcuts for Windows XP

I have a client who really wanted XP loaded on this Satellite L300D-01N (PSLC8C-01N019), and I have all the drivers are working on it... the only thing that does not work are the shortcut keyboard/function keys. Of course, there is no XP drivers for this particular unit on the Toshiba site.

Anyone out there had any chance to get the keyboard shortcuts to work for this model?

    Hello

The European driver Toshiba page provides for Satellite L300D PSLC8E series XP drivers.

Check if the drivers for this series runs on your laptop.

  • Satellite L300D begins only after the battery has been drained and recharged

I have a satellite L300D that has a problem at startup. Last week, it closed but got stuck on the "Disconnect" screen for a long time. Finally I manually turn it off by holding down the power button. Don't think no more of him it happened sometimes with my computers. However, when I went to turn it back on - it was nothing. Power lights came to the front of the computer, but not to screen at all. Could not even access the BIOS. Nothing. It was like that for several days.

Tried all the common solutions - removed battery, disconnect the power supply and press the power button - still nothing. Tried w/o - just AC, just the battery. Even stripped down to the motherboard to see if I could remove the CMOS battery and reset the CMOS but it is soldered on the motherboard. Put all back together, still nothing.

Finally, I had to recharge my cell phone using a USB adapter and given that the computer had power I tried the usb port and it worked (for example, I could charge the phone - still no screen on the computer). The computer's battery is dead and I plugged it in. That evening, after the battery was full, I tried the computer and it has perfectly worked. Started correctly, shut it down, restarted and it was fine. Unplugged this night there and reconnected again in the morning and... nothing. Just a black screen. No BIOS.

Killed the battery again then reloaded and now my computer is working again.

Any ideas on what could cause this problem?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hey Buddy,

In my opinion her only the only one you can is update the BIOS like Akuma suggested. This problem is not related software so that s the only option you have I think. You can download the latest version of the BIOS here:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > download drivers

If this is not the case, contact an authorized service provider please. Guys can fix all this hardware related problems can diagnose this problem. Maybe the motherboard or something else must be exchanged.

    Good luck! :)

  • Satellite L300D - need help with the installation of the display driver

    Hello

For 1 month, I need to update my display on my Satellite L300D driver (PSLC8C - 06NO19) with an ATI RADEON 3100.

I tried to download the drivers on the Ati site, but when the installation has finished, nothing has changed. My driver is still the old man.

I tried to download the driver from the Toshiba site, but for my model, I found the same old driver.

Is there a way I can install the driver manually, like a normal computer? Or I'm stuck with this driver, given that Toshiba does not seem to take care of my old L300D :(

    Thanks in advance,

    DanPabst

PS: Sorry for my English but I'm French from the Canada game

    Hello

    > I tried to download the drivers on the Ati site, but when the installation has finished, nothing has changed. My driver is still the old man.

did you remove the old driver before installing a new one? The old driver must be removed and laptop rebooted and installed the new driver, then. Note, I read many threads on an installation driver from the vendor's site in this forum, as not recommended due to overheating which provided with the toshiba drivers updated

    I sell Toshiba.
I always do recovery dics for my clients. I do it on Philips DVD.
Now, I tried Windows 7 on a positive and trying to get back to vista again before selling the laptop.

The problem is that when I try to recover, the system hangs at "waiting for ODD lends itself.

    I've tried several things,
    -formatting the hard drive
    -remove the partition
-windows vista oem CD (installs fine, fact 7) etc.

I have another laptop in stock, so I used that one recovery disks, consequently it hangs at the same point.
Now, I tried to restore the other laptop (same model) and one recovery dvd freezes at the same point.

I think that there is a programming error in the program of recovery DVDs.

Have you tried to reset the BIOS to default settings?

Update the BIOS and the dust of the ODD lens/Laser.

  • Satellite P500 - 01 G-install the Toshiba software after clean install

    Hi all

I have a Toshiba P500 - 01 G (http://www.mytoshiba.com.au/products/computers/satellite/p500/pspgsa-01g003/overview) running the grouped Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. I bought an upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate, but can not use it, he just tells me to use Windows Anytime Upgrade.

However, I can use it for a clean install and I intend, but I don't know what to do on the Toshiba Software (http://www.mytoshiba.com.au/support/computers/satellite/p500/pspgsa-01g003/download?os=25).
I read on another thread that the software must be installed in a certain order and frankly I have no idea! I don't want to break something! I'm not to ask for the list accurate for each of them (except if you have time) but just a general guide as to what I should install in the order.

Also, I guess that my recovery partition is erased in the process and I can't get it back. Is this true?

Thank you very much. I really appreciate it,
    Abraham.

    Hello, Abraham

I m the Satellite P500 owner too and it's really great machine, isn t it? I like it. My Toshiba best ever.
My machine is preinstalled original Toshiba recovery image and it works without any problems so I put t want to change anything.

Back to your question. I assume that you have a few reasons why you want to use the Ultimate version then you should try to clean OS install. Before you anything create recovery DVDs. Make two copies.
After that make what you can do with your laptop all you used to because if you want to have the factory settings, again you can use created the recovery disc and install original recovery image.
After recovery of registered OS image will help and you will not be able to start the installation of HARD drive recovery then please create restore DVD.

Installing Win7? I have the European model, and I will send exact installation order list. There may be small differences compared to the model of the AU, but the principle remains the same.

Yes, it certainly comes with DVD disc is not compatible.
You should try different children of the DVD from different manufacturers.
