Satellite L305-S5883 spontaneously restarts

Aloha all,.

OK, very strange problem with my Satellite L305-S5883.

This laptop will reboot itself every 10-15 minutes like clockwork when connected to two an a/c adapter AND battery. Yes, that's true.

It runs on a battery with no problems until the battery is discharged AND it will work for always on an a/c adapter provided that there is no battery installed.

But if I put a battery AND connect an a/c adapter, it will definitely restart in 15 minutes, over and over again.

I looked around in there and found with batteries bad people to have this problem, so I bought a new online, but the behavior is exactly the same with the old battery that lasts in fact much longer than the other because it is a high capacity version.

I also tried a 2nd Toshiba a/c adapter I had to hang out.
The original supplied with this laptop is a 19V / 3. 95A. I had to hang around is a 19V / 4. 74A.

Exactly the same result with all 4 combinations of 2 batteries and 2 power adapters.

I saw the thread on the wrong OE907 of NEC TOKIN capacitor and it seems not related but my deal is a bit different and I would like to avoid dislodging hot this chip so it is possible.

Anyone know any more details about this defect?

TIA

To be honest, it's hard to say a few words on these questions... it looks like a card mother related issue.
But if the problem is related to a part of the motherboard (defective capacitor, etc.), this means that the whole motherboard will be replaced generally, and in most of the cases.

To be honest, I don't think that a replacement of the condenser (if possible) would be so easy usually that such alternative procedure requires experience is weld and electronic components.

You can install Vista using Microsoft DVD facilities. All the necessary drivers, tools and utilities, you should find on Toshiba support site.
I'm not sure, but I assume you have a model of cell phone US. If I'm right on this subject please visit Toshiba US page under assistance

  • Cannot install Windows XP as a second OS on the Satellite L305-S5926

Just got a Satellite L305-S5926 (a series SATA drive), I want to add a Windows XP partition (first choice) or convert them into a single Windows XP system (second choice).

First of all, I did shrink a partition using Disk Manager in Vista to release about 73 GB of disk space for use by the Win XP partition. Then with the BIOS setting for the Sata Interface AHCI (default) value, I rebooted for Win XP installation CD and had a blue screen of death (BSD) with a Stop error after you load all the drivers and tried to start XP.

I then created a floppy disk with the drivers of Toshiba Sata Raid/AHCI and restarted the installation of Win XP CD using F6 to install Sata drivers. Always had the BSD. Restarted and went into the BIOS and changed the setting of the Interface Sata to compatibility and then restarted in the Win XP installation CD.

Use both the F6 option or not the F6 option, the progresses installation more than before in the start-up phase to the place where you get to choose the partition where you want to install XP.

At this point the only partition is to see the partition C: Vista living in. It is not the 73 GB of free space I created by reducing the Vista partition at the beginning. The results are the same, they are, under Vista, I leave the space as free space or if I format it, it does not appear as a place to install XP

At this time I have not yet tried the cleaning disc entirely and install XP first then by installing Vista only because I'm still waiting for a Toshiba Recovery disk before proceeding with this approach.

Any idea what I can do to create the second partition with XP? Anyone tried install XP on this model as the primary OS and if so how did you do?

    Thank you
    Joe

  • Satellite L305-S5917 cannot create recovery disk

    I have a Satellite L305-S5917.

Yesterday I tried to create the recovery disk with the recovery disc creator, and then when I put a DVD + R, it says 'another application is using that drive or no recordable discs are recognized on your PC. Please check the status of the drive. (Error code: 0D00E4-F0-00000000). »
I also try with DVD - R, but I wasn't too. Someone tell me what is the problem with my laptop and how do I create a recovery disc.

    Thank you

    Hello

This error message does not for me.
You have installed an application like Nero CD/DVD burning?

Maybe an enforcement agent runs in the background and optical disc drive is permanent in the surveillance state. Restart your laptop, check the substantive activities and make sure that nothing can be responsible for this drive blocking.
The STRANGE is properly recognized in Device Manager?

One last thing: for creation of recovery media I would recommend to use high quality DVD-R virgins.
I had the best experience with TDK and Verbatim.

I have recently upgraded to Windows 7 and now the webcam is not working and I get the error "Webcam driver open fail." Please restart camera or computer. "I tried to find a Windows 7 driver on the support page, but I couldn't find one so I just used both Vista/XP those instead. One is the driver and another the Camera Assistant Software. Here's what I've tried so far:

  • Satellite L305-S5919 - slow modem speed

Hello people. Right now I have this modem driver - * Toshiba Software Modem for Windows Vista (Agere). * But I'm not all that nice to her performance, so I thought to try another.

I'm looking at that - is * Motorola Modem Driver for Windows Vista (32/64-bit) *. The information about this said, it is compatible with my model, but I didn't know if it would work as the one I have is Agere (Agere, it's what it came with nine).

I have a Satellite L305-S5919, Vista 32 bit and Toshiba Software Modem Agere Driver 2.1.77.

    Thank you!

    Hey,.

I think that the problem is not the driver, it s technology modem itself. You know that the speed of the modem is 56,000 Kbps?

The point is that most of the websites are already designed for broadband connections, because they have a lot of high-resolution graphics and other multimedia stuff.

In your case, I would choose another Internet connection ;)

  • Satellite L305-S5939 - Dual boot with Linux

I recently bought the notebook title mentioned for my studies in computer programming that will require me to dual boot with Linux.
I decided to use Ubuntu and their instructions for upward the dual boot parameters are simple.

However, I heard from people having problems with the settings of the BIOS on other brands when said is finished.
Before I embark on this journey, I want to just make sure that everything is set to avoid problems.

Unfortunately, I have not found much information about Dual boot with Linux and Toshiba L305s.
Other than the basic principles of what I need to do before installing?

I think that a dual boot on the Satellite L305 should not be a problem because you can do it on every laptop or PC.

If you want Ubuntu you should take a look on Wubi
    http://wubi-Installer.org/
It of pretty easy to use and in my opinion the best way to install Ubuntu on a system dual boot.

  • Satellite L305-S5968: cannot select a resolution higher than 1280 x 800 px

    Last June, I bought a Satellite L305-S5968.

A month ago my hard drive crashed and luckily I was able to recover some data.
I sent again to make the drive replaced and reinstalled Vista.
When I came back I did all the usual driver updates and when I did everything I could get resolution 1280-800 but I had 1280-1024 prior to the crash.

I tried to go to Intel but their driver for my Chipset Mobile Intel 4 family was apparently not intended for this laptop and would not even install. After having talked to Toshiba about this, they said I had to do the recovery CD rather than the extended warranty which installed Vista has not installed the appropriate driver. I paid my males 25 for the pair of CD and proceeded to reinstall. After all this all over again once I've ALWAYS done could not get the resolution I wanted and always feel the same issues with not being able to install the drivers on the Intel site.

Is there someone who can help me out here please? If I did not provide enough detail please let me know.

    Thank you! :)

    Hello

Have you tried the driver from the Toshiba page we?
This seems to be a laptop out on the U.S. market and that's why I recommend the driver from US page:
    http://www.CSD.Toshiba.com/cgi-bin/TAIS/support/JSP/home.jsp

In addition, you might install a driver from Intel page, but you will have to do it in the Device Manager.
Here, you point to the driver manually files using the Advanced installation procedure.
This would allow to choose Intel page files.

PS: If your display supports the native resolution of 1280x800px max then you will not be able to choose a higher resolution, even if you have used another graphic driver

Before you exchange the cooling fan you have to disassemble everything laptop. How this is described in the manual, but the problem is that this document is not a public document, so you won't be able to find it for download.

I guess that's portable US model, so you can ask for help on the Toshiba U.S. forum.

  • Problem of storage space satellite L305-S5962 HARD drive when installing XP

    Hello

Last week, I ordered two TOSHIBA Satellite L305-S5962 for my children and finally happened yesterday.
I was so glad that I found all drivers XP needed for it on Toshiba USA website, however something weird happened when I went to install XP over there.

It came with preloaded Vista and while under Vista, I checked the HARD drive space it is said about 250 GB (240 - ish), but during the installation blue screen boot XP it read C 131 GB only partition.
So, if you round up to about 130 GB, where the other 90 GB's?

This problem has happened to these two Toshibas, and read the two HDD substantially the same.
In Vista, it reads close to 250 GB, but when installing XP blue screen (once I turn off the AHCI setting in BIOS) it reads at 131 GB. Is this some kind of driver issue? or to issue OS with AHCI?

On the Toshiba site there are two HARD drive drivers, are a .exe and the other a .zip file.
I tried both in the XP installation CD of nLite, but it does not help.
It still reads GB 131, so now I have no idea what to do, or maybe I have something wrong during the splicing of nLite?

In any case, if anyone has some insight on this problem, please let me know.

    Thank you!

    -G.P.

P.S. Here is the link to site from USA, for XP SP2/SP3 drivers, HARD disk drivers.

    http://www.CSD.Toshiba.com/cgi-bin/TAIS/support/JSP/modelContent.jsp?CT=DL&OS=&category=&MOID=2350214& rpn = PSLB8U & modelFilter = TOSHIBA + Satellite + L305-S5962 & SelCategorie = 3 & selFamily = 1073768663

Even once, if someone has seen, thank YOU!

    > I checked disk space HARD it is said about 250 GB (240 - ish), but during the installation blue screen boot XP it read the partition C 131 GB only.

The HARD disk is partitioned into 3 partitions.
The first partition contains OS preinstalled; Vista
The second partition contains the image of Toshiba HDD and the last third partition is hidden. It s a small partition created by Vista and it contains the backup files. These files can be used if something goes wrong with Vista OS or if Vista needs to be repaired.

So I guess you've seen only the first partition that contains the operating system Vista

  • FN key doesn't work is not Windows XP - Satellite L305-S5885

Hello, I recently downgraded my Toshiba Satellite L305 S5885 from Vista to Windows XP. Everything works well except the function (Fn) keys to control the screen brightness, volume. Some function as mute but most do nothing when I try to use them. All the installed drivers although Device Manager shows errors or lack nothing.

I tried to install all the drivers for the keyboard, the Fn keys, keyboard shortcuts, and still I can't work at all. Someone was able to get these keys to run after the installation of WinXP or you know what drivers/software I'm missing? These keys can be used in XP or they work only in Vista?

    Thank you.

This feature has nothing to do with the operating system or Device Manager. FN keys feature Toshiba use for years and in my opinion, it will be used in the future also.

As I see you probably have US laptop model. I put t know how he works in the United States, but here in Europe Toshiba offered special WXP BIOS update. After installing this BIOS the FN keys work correctly.

In order to check it please US Toshiba support site under http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/su/su_sc_modSel.jsp to see what is available for Windows XP Home edition. I also recommend you check the section ask Iris. Maybe you can find useful newsletters.

One last thing: under http://community.compuserve.com/n/pfx/forum.aspx?webtag=ws-laptop&redirCnt=1 you will find the forum we Toshiba. There, I hope that you will find answer to your question.

Good luck and please let us know if you set up Windows XP Home edition successfully.
