Satellite L40 - 14F-> bios flash in DOS

Hi all

yesterday, I bought this new NB and have a problem with installing OS WXP (Sata HDD drivers). I wanted to Flash my BIOS to the latest version, but in the Vista operating system, there is no (through some ACPI drivers) so my question-> there is an alternative to Flash, for example in the BIOS?

THX and sorry for my ENG fan :)

The BIOS version BACK doesn t exist. If you want to update the BIOS to the Windows OS because it is a version of win!

However, the BISO update is not necessary if you want to install the XP.
You must install the Intel Storage Manager driver. This package contains the SATA drivers that are needed to recognize the HARD drive.

Good luck

  • Word and Office don't work on Satellite L40 - 14F

    Hello?

I am Irina of Kiew (Ukraine).
I just bought a Satellite L40 - 14F and can t use Word and Office (Vista). I have no internet at home, so I can't pass the RECORD for Word and Office...
    What should I do?
    Please, answer me!

It seems that you are unable to activate Office and therefore you cannot use the software.
Don t be angry with me, but I don't really understand why you ask for the solution.
The solution is simply. You must activate the Microsoft software ;)

Generally, the serial key is always placed on the cover of the CD. There must be a label with a compatible serial key.

If the software was already preinstalled on this laptop, then you need the internet connection to activate this software product.
Maybe you can take the phone to your friend or a public place with Internet and could enable desktop.

XP drivers for this series don t exist on the Toshiba page at the moment!

I have found that the package of XP driver for PSL48, PSL49, PSL4C and PSL4B model number!

So, it seems that you simply try to install incompatible drivers!

one question: which driver you tried to install? Intel or the Atheros driver. I mean, if you have an atheros card and that you have installed a driver package intel then it s possible that it won´t install.

Please, try the other available driver and then come back and give a short answer about this.

  • Satellite L40 - 12K - BIOS update failure

    Hi people,

It is the second Toshiba laptop, I've managed to screw up. I don't know why, but it seems that Toshiba is especially prone to spectacular failure of BIOS.

This laptop (Satellite L40 - 12K, short model PSL40E) has a bios made by FRIEND and Toshiba has an update on its Web site for windows that uses the tool of WinFlash.exe made by ASUS.

The tool only works for 32-bit operating systems, and I had installed a 64-bit version of Windows, I could not pass the laptop.

Then I thought: we will try to update the bios from MS-DOS, using a bootable flash drive!

I went to the ASUS ftp site and downloaded the latest AFUDOS (2.41). This is a special version of the afudos FRIEND tool, specially designed for ASUS.

I ran the tool under MS-DOS, and it will make sure the BIOS automatically confirmed that the binary file was compatible with the laptop model and automatically starts the process of flashing.

But it crash in the phase of "flash erase". He was stuck there for HOURS, so I turned off the computer and tried to turn it back on.

Not at all, the laptop won't turn. It does not even ANY SOUND. NO LIGHTS, NO NOISE, NO FAN, NOTHING.

    ABSOLUTELY AND COMPLETELY DEAD.

So, there you have it. I have flashed dozens of computers (servers, laptops, workstations, etc.) in my life, and I've only had TWO failures.

TWO of them were with Toshiba laptops. Geez, Toshiba is really the King of the failures of BIOS flashing!

    Hello

I would never try update the Toshiba BIOS with a BIOS from other support pages for computer laptop manufacturer
What to say; I found one from Toshiba victory of the BIOS and traditional BIOS Toshiba U.S. driver page:

    http://www.CSD.Toshiba.com

Maybe you could try to Flash the BIOS using this version of BIOS
If this is not possible, then only a service provider authorized Toshiba would be able to help you.

By the way: I've had three different Toshiba notebooks: A210, U400, and now Tecra A11.
The BIOS update has worked perfect for all series...

  • Satellite L40 - 13G: Bios update is not on Vista SP1

I have a Satellite L40 13 G and the latest Bios update refuse to update.

I'm trying to update my BIOS because the laptop freezes randomly in time and I have problems of "graphic design" where the lag games where there is no form of explosion such as gunshots or a bomb.

There are no instructions, not in the exe and certainly not on the screen. If I didn't know how Flash a BIOS I would certainly not choose the .bin BIOS file in the directory between all DLL files.

    Thank you
    Yahweh.

    Hello Jako

Can you please tell me what your problem is now? What questions are you writing about?
If I understand you well you have correctly updated the BIOS. Am I right about that?

And what now? What do you mean?

  • Satellite L40 - 14Y Bios Update with HARD drive empty

    I need to update the Bios of my Satellite L40 - 14Y / PSL48E-01F01UGR of Version 1.60 to 5.50 (for Windows XP). The HARD drive is _ * authorized/empty * _.

My problem: the 'solution' as given

    [Http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/faq.jsp?z=234&service=EU&from=faq_selection&CFID=B IOS & FID = TRO0000000b07]

is unreasonable/erraneous. The instructions provided in this site for the "traditional update: BIOS is updated using a floppy ' lead 'procedure 7" for a Satellite L40.

7 procedure is however simply: copy the 5 files, such as listed in the respective "bios - 20080617131457.zip" zip file on the disk ("+ extracted the zip file containing the upgrade of the BIOS to a formatted floppy + '). This disk is - of course - _ * bootable * _ and its usage with the error message "NTLDR" not found as shall be provided.

We know a solution to this problen other than the installation of an operating system for the current object of updating the Bios from an operating system?

Additional note: the attempt to install the 5.50 Bios by running winflash.exe (which is the single executable in "bios - 20080617131457.zip") failed because it "does not in DOS mode. But he could start with a few other disk started micro operating system, such as, for example, Caldera back. We know something about that? The statement: "run the *.exe extracted to the temporary folder. .... . A BIOS update diskette will be generated"as given for other than blackness L40 laptops means that a * _bootable_ disk is"generated ". Other laptops with the same Bios 5.50 as the L40?

    Hi jetztkommich,

Don t do so complicated: anything that can be downloaded from the Toshiba site, you will find. If there is that only a basic Windows Update the BIOS, you can run the update of the BIOS under Windows. I think that s easy to understand.

As Al - Ex worte, you can try the update on a Windows disc packed with bart PE.
    Check this box!

  • Satellite L40 - 14F turn on automatically

    Hello

I have a laptop PSL4CE L40 - 14F. When I use it with the AC adapter / CC, he makes a strange mistake. When I turn off the laptop, it stops normally, but after 4-5 seconds it turns on automatically. When I use it without adapter it not dΘmarre automatically. I swith off when it is in the BIOS, but it puts one more time.

And if my laptop is in sleep mode, it does not wake up again I have to swith it.

I reinstall the entire system. I tried Xp, Vista, and Win7 and I've updated the BIOS also.

I use my laptop with original Toshiba AC adapter and tried with my car charger too.

    Thank you
    Herendi

    > When I use it with the AC adapter / CC, he makes a strange mistake. When I turn off the laptop, it stops normally, but after 4-5 seconds it turns on automatically. When I use it without adapter it does not start automatically

I'm not quite what could be wrong but I could make some assumptions m

I think that might have something to do with the motherboard failure
For me, it's only a plausible explanation maybe some problems with electronic or similar food. I think that the laptop should be checked by a technician of ASP.
Guys could test different adapters and batteries and could finally run a diagnostic test that could help diagnose the failure.

  • LED light for Wi - Fi on Satellite L40 - 14F does not illuminate

Is he someone correct the problem with LED light for Wi - Fi on L40 - 14F?

What do you think average is by any fix for the WLan light

Are sure you that you have enabled the WLan switch on the side of the laptop?
Only this switch controls the WLan light!

If the WLAN led does not illuminate after that you have activated the WLan switch there is something wrong with the hardware.

then if there is something wrong with the hardware of notebooks is needed the help of ASP.

  • English need driver SATA XP for Satellite L40 - 14F

Can someone tell me who exactly is the driver for the SATA controller for my laptop.
I downloaded the package for windows xp drivers for my model L40 - 14F & have try to install the driver file SATA Chipset (from packaging) but still does not work, this is the package - drvpack-en - 20071119132412.zip

What can I do? Where is the SATA driver? Please someone help me.
Yesterday, I bought my pc and I'm still not functioning normally.

Initially, I have no cd with drivers.
    I need to download some.

    Hello

Don t know how you tried to install the SATA drivers, but this must be done without a doubt before, you are going to install the XP operating system.
During the installation process you must press the F6 key to include the drivers of external USB FDD.
I you don t have an external USB FDD drive and then use the 3rd party software called nLite to create a new XP CD and include the SATA drivers.

Driver SATA can be found in the Intel Matrix Storage Manager which can also be downloaded from the Intel page.
Notes; Chose the right iMSM for your chipset
