Satellite L455 - plug-and - battery LEDs power LED and it flashes orange

I have a Satellite L455, which worked perfectly for more than six months now, but two weeks ago he began to behave strangely.

I turned off the machine normally in the evening I was going to sleep. In the morning when I turned on it it turned on, HARD drive and on power LED blinked blue for a few seconds then they are gone. Machine does not start. I tried to turn it on again and it does the same thing. Then I saw the "power plug on" and "battery on" LED flashes orange at the same time. I unplugged the power adapter. Both lights were continuous blinking but machine will not feed. I removed the battery for a piece of 5 minutes, then reinserted it and the machine has worked all day.

I went he deleted off the power plug and the morning again it wouldn't start until the when I removed the battery for a few minutes then it works again. The battery recharges very well that when I remove and reinsert it even without connecting the power cable still lights up and works perfectly.

Then, I removed the battery and the power supply Plug and you press the power button for 30 seconds to unload the machine and then return power and battery and it worked until I turned off again and shutting off the power and then it didn't once again.

If I stop just of machine and do not turn off the power cord, then I can turn it back on to and work with the machine without hassle even for three days without interruption.

What could be wrong? Any help will be really appreciated.

Yusuf

Hi chidzungo,

It must certainly be a hardware malfunction but he s strange why it pops up every day after you have closed the laptop. Do you use batteries and AC/DC to original Toshiba adapter? Have you connected external devices to your laptop? If so delete them before you turn on your laptop.

What version of BIOS is installed at the moment? You should look on the Web from Toshiba website for an update. Update of the BIOS might also help and it s worth a try.

Before you start reading the BIOS BIOS update instructions update [HERE: http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/ann.jspa?annID=60]

Satellite L455 seems to be an American model, so the BIOS update can be downloaded from the Toshiba U.S. page but first check the exact part number:

  • Satellite L40 don't stop with power connected and is not in sleep mode

Hello world. I hope someone can help me. Basically, there are two problems: one with judgment of the laptop (Satellite L40 - 17U (Vista 32 bit Home Premium SP1)) down when power is connected and the other with closing the lid and put it to sleep.

    1. in recent weeks, it all of a sudden won't stop, whenever power is connected. When it's on battery, it will stop. When the power is connected, and I try to stop, it seems that it closed down (all activity stops and the led goes off) for about 1 or 2 seconds, then it goes back.

    2. when I close the lid (all settings in Vista are set to put the laptop in a State of 'sleep' when the lid is closed), the laptop enters a State where it cannot be recovered by stopping by pressing the power button for 10 seconds to close completely. When closing the cover, only the battery LED continues to Flash orange (the way it should be), but apparently the laptop keeps consuming power, because when I restart later (first having to close as described above) tends to be quite an empty battery as it was before the next redΘmarrage it (like go from 100% to 65% in 30 minutes as "standby mode"). Also, when I open the cover, the other LEDS will on new (green), but nothing happens.
After the restart first by pressing the power button for 10 seconds to close, I often get the message that Windows cannot be started and run the system repair.

I just do a completely clean install with the product recovery CD (has not installed SP1 yet), updated to v1.90 BIOS, but the problem remains.

I'm afraid that my only option will be to bring him away for a warranty repair, but knowing that these repairs can take weeks, I'd rather try a solution here could someone recommend me first. If you have any ideas, please let me know.

    Thank you

    Hi guys

Never had this problem on my laptop, but with regard to an other users here in the forum the BIOS might help solve such strange behavior for laptop
To be honest the closed question is unclear for me I noticed a problem before on my laptop but the update of the BIOS helped.

This is why I recommend update BIOS first.
If the problem still appears, the ASP should take a look in the notebook.

    Good luck

    Hello

I never heard of something like that it s really strange that you must remove the battery before you start the computer
Do you use the of original AC/DC adapter and battery?

What you might try is updated the BIOS. You can find it on the Web from Toshiba website.

But my personal opinion: it s a hardware malfunction and that means you need professional help from an ASP :(

  • Satellite Pro 6100 - problem starting (light flashing Orange)

On my laptop Satellite Pro 6100, seeing DC IN (first on the left) flashes orange and the laptop does nothing else (no display or sound). The light flashes for 8 times, has a long pause and then starts all over again.

I tried a different adapter with no joy. It does the same thing if you use only the battery and if you run from the adapter without the battery.

The only time wherever it shows a different light is when you take the battery out, put back in and hold the power button. Led Slim Select Bay (second right) briefly turns green, but it turns off and the led DC IN resumption of the orange blink.

It seems likely that it is an internal hardware problem (power supply, motherboard, etc.). Does anyone have any ideas? And as anyone knows anywhere which lists all the different orange light codes for Toshiba laptops?

    Hi André,.

You are right in thinking that there is a hardware failure (most likely your motherboard). Flashing codes are used by service technicians to indicate the nature of the fault and I have yet to find anywhere who publishes the real meaning of these codes.

I think it looks like a trip to the nearest Service Agent. :-(

  • Satellite L755 - suddenly then turn off blinking of power and the battery LEDs

In recent weeks, when using the laptop (Satellite L755 psk2ye) he died suddenly and the power and the battery leds start flashing simultaneously.

It also takes place when charging the battery when the unit is off... then l must cut off the power and he'll be back... Although the problem sometimes occurs again after a few minutes hours or does not...

Remove the battery and check if the same problem occur when you use laptops with power running.

Tried several times with the battery inside and out with the same results.

    > Everything was going well until I went to a place of friends with her and plugged to the power
Did you use the right adapter?

To be honest, it looks like a malfunction of the power supply motherboard maybe electronic issue of power.
the power indicator would start flashing amber if the AC adapter voltage is abnormal or failure of computer power supply.

Laptop didn't work when it's plugged in and the battery says "plugged in, not charging." Battery LED also flashes a few times from time to time, so I don't know if it's a circuit board problem or the battery itself.

I tried updated driver battery without success.

You can try to unplug the power and remove the battery. Press and hold power for 30 seconds, Plug and see if it is supported.

    > I notice a problem on my PC, it does not indicate that the battery is low (without flashing) and lights out. What this indicator a software driven or it's a hardware problem on my laptop?
    > Another small problem that was Watch not remember brightness for battery mode.

Please don't be angry with me, but first I would not talk about problems if you use Linux on the Toshiba laptop. Is that Linux is not supported and that's why some features of laptops may not work properly.

    About the light battery;
The LEDs are controlled by the BIOS. As you know the laptop was running Vista and so the BIOS support for Vista.
As I said above, if you use another OS like XP or possibly Linux so some features may not work properly.

  • Satellite L645 - power & battery led keep flashing

I have toshiba L645 that you just bought as a year.
Since a few weeks I have had this power & led battery give me yellow flashing.

My L645 can be on using the battery alone & does ' t give no flashing led it but if I connect to the seizure of power give me power & battery flashes like 1 second by blink and if I unplug the battery and trying on the use of AC power only my laptop suddenly turn off when this blinking occur.

What happens with my L645 Any suggestion?
Thanks in advance... (by the way my L645 Windows 7 Home Premium)

    Hello

The power led blinks means there is a problem with the power supply.
I m not very well, but maybe your power adapter is not OK.
I think that the laptop should be checked using the new adapter.

But of course if could also be a problem of electronic power supply on the motherboard. In this case the new AC adapter not help, but in this case to replace the motherboard.

  • Satellite L670 question load - pink battery led

    Hey,.

My laptop (Satellite L 670) often has a charging problem.

First, the laptop runs normally, the power cord is connected and the battery correctly.
That, however, the adapter is still plugged, all of a sudden the loading stops.

At the same time two of the first three LEDs indicating the change:
    * Mode: adapter = white LED, power LED = white, battery LED = red-orange
    * Mode problem: adapter = white LED, power LED = no light, battery LED = Rose & flashing

    A few additional notes:

-Sometimes when I go out to reconnect en loading adapter starts again, but sometimes it has no effect.
-When the laptop is in sleep mode or stop charging happens without any problem.
-If I remove the battery and the laptop works only on the adapter, there is no problem.
-J' get the feeling that the workload problem often takes place when the fan starts or stops turning.

No idea what my cause the problem?
A broken battery or an adapter?
    A trainee problem?

    Thank you

On the virtual path that is not easy to say with certainty what the problem may be, and we can only speculate what is the problem. In my opinion there is a problem with electronic power supply, so it must be checked by the Toshiba service provider.

I have a similar problem with the old Satellite P200D. I ve tested with two adapters CA / CC and two batteries. The problem is always the same, so it must be a question of power.

Is the warranty for your laptop still valid?

  • Satellite A100-847 battery led blinks 11 times, absence of motherboard?

    Hello

14 months (only 12 months warranty), I have a Satellite A100-847 was a laptop perfect, but 2 weeks ago the ac-adaptar falls down and since then that if I push the power button the battery orange led blinks 11 times with the same length, but nothing happens.

ASP did not now what this flashing means but think I have a motherboard problem.
Now I found on ebay a Satellite A100-153 and my question is, is this the same motherboard, because it's also 945 PM.
    (Sorry for my bad English)

    [Satellite A100-847: http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/jsp/SUPPORTSECTION/discontinuedProductPage.do?PRODUCT_ID=120570&DISC _ MODEL = 1 & service = EU]

    THX.

It seems that two laptop computers support the same motherboard as the Satellite A100-847 and Satellite A100-153 belong to the same series of PSAA9E.
This series uses the same drivers and the same BIOS so I think that the mobo must also be the same.

PS; I think that it is a motherboard problem too. Such a code is displayed only if a hardware failure has been detected on the motherboard.

  • Satellite L40 - strange problem with battery LED indicator

    Hello

I have Satellite L40 - 18w and I have a problem. When the battery is low or that he is in charge of the led is orange, but when it is fully charged there is no led indicator. Even if I turn it on, there is no light and if I check the power connection options AC adapter is recognized. Operating system is Windows XP PRO SP2. I tried to find the Toshiba Power Saver, but it seems that he can't stand L40.

Would it be a hardware or a software problem?
Thank you in advance for your help!

    I had the same problem.
Remove and install back the battery.

  • Satellite A10: Battery-LED flashes with AC

Not too long ago I bought a new battery for my laptop. About a year and a half he worked well. But one day I just couldn't start Notepad without AC. I thought, just dead battery. If I set up the adapter sector, but the next time, the laptop didn't start either. With AC, no problem.
So I charged the battery, and when Windows says, full battery, and the Green LED, I unplugged the AC. But then the computer laptop completely stopped, as if there is no battery.

Now, it's this way: it is not serious what know Windows. The laptop does not start without AC. After a disconnect from the AC, the battery led flashes orange fastly. When windows is running, it only slowly blinks orange.

Where is the problem? Anyone know a solution?

    Hello

In my opinion, there are two possibilities.
Either the battery is dead and needs to be replaced or to power portable electronic malfunctions.

The first possibility is not serious because the battery change should help solve this problem, but if the power of electronic books is not working properly, the entire motherboard must be replaced.

I think that it s advisable to contact the ASP in your country, because the guy has found the fault very quickly and could provide the best solution.

    Good luck buddy

  • Satellite A105-S2031 battery LED blinks 11 times.

Everyone has been able to diagnose this problem until the fault? A few days ago, this very laptop just turned power off and since then the battery led just blinks 11 times and nothing more. I disassembled the laptop and everything looks fine on the card (not the type to be skittish around electronics. Worked on cell phones for the last five years). Anyone have any ideas?

Have you tried to boot up your laptop with AC only (removed battery) power?
I really can't believe that you can find the reason why this happen if you take apart your laptop. I assume that there must be a problem with electronic control gear.
