Satellite L500 - won't stop

L500 suddenly started to hang at shutdown forcing manual power off of the order the next day. "Shutting Down" message visible. Power connection process fails sometimes. I resorted to start in safe mode and stop before you "start the day" generally to be on the safe side. Nothing installed, but Adobe Air improved.

Another similar symptoms?

Hi niixsy,

I'm pretty sure that a certain program blocks the closing process in your case I would look in the Windows Event Viewer. There you can find all the logs on your laptop and maybe you'll see a notification which program blocks this process.

  • Satellite L500-19th - Microphone stops working after a few words

    Hello

About 2 weeks I have a new 19th L500 with Windows 7 and it worked fine. But since a few days I have trouble with my microphone, no matter if I use the internal or an external headset/mic. The question is it seems to work for a few seconds only, for example try a call via Skype, teamspeak etc. but people don't hear my Hello and a few more words, then they only hear me very well. The parameters of all them seem to be good and I already downloaded/installed the latest drivers realtek, but nothing is.

Anyone have an idea what can be the problem and how to fix it?

    Thank you
    stammann

    Hello

Really strange, stammann. Have you also tried to update the driver for the webcam? I ask this question because the microphone is a part of the webcam, then you also need to update this driver. Just check the Toshiba page for an update:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > download drivers

You also enabled amp Microphone? You can check it in the audio settings of Windows.

  • Satellite L500 becomes too hot - fan starts at boot only!

My Satellite L500 overheats and stops without warning. I first thought that the fan is defect because it won't start unter SP2 of Vista, but when I reboot it works then on BIOS level.

But as soon as Vista takes over during initialization the fan stops. I tried Speedfan but it is somehow not able to start the fan. he reads only the different temperatures, the fan speed.

I don't know, but maybe this problem occurred after I've upgraded to Vista SP 2 two months ago who was not released by Toshiba. It seems that this will happen by Toshiba more but that's another question.

The laptop is almost 2 years and come with Vista SP1.
The only thing on the side of software is always upgrading the BIOS, there seems to be a newer version of May 2011.

I cleaned the intake with a vacuum cleaner, but the main problem is probably not dust, but the fan does not start. Someone an idea how I can start? Can be a software or a setting somewhere in Windows?

    > I don't know but maybe this problem occurred after I've upgraded to Vista SP 2 two months ago who was not released by Toshiba. It seems that this will happen by Toshiba more but that's another question.

Are you talking about Vista Service Pack 2?
Service Packs for Windows operating systems are released by Microsoft and not the laptop manufacturers. ;) Release of the laptop manufacturers only the drivers own for portable devices unique ;)

    > The only thing on the side of software is always upgrading the BIOS, there seems to be a newer version of May 2011.
So you would update of the BIOS?
    If not try this

What the installation of Win 7? Have you checked if the fans would be running using Win 7 on this laptop? I think it's a test

  • Satellite L500 - stop and a fan problem

    Hello.

A few months my Toshiba Satellite L500-1 stops frequently due to overheating, which occurs when the intensive use of the laptop (for games, photomanipulation etc..). However, I don't know what I can do about it. I won't open my laptop, unless I am told to open my laptop computer to perform a specific task.

Today, my cell phone off again. However, when I turn back I noticed that something happened with my fan. At this point, my laptop doesn't overheat not quickly as usual. Instead of 90 + % fanspeed there around 58-60% (depending on the Toshiba PC Health Monitor). However, I noticed that something happened with my fan. After that I noticed that the fan will sometimes be a trigger, that sounds once every 10 minutes when the laptop is under heavy use.

What should I do now? It worries me, I'd be worried about it? Perhaps another user from Toshiba with a similar problem can give me support. I'd be happy.

    Thank you.

    Hello

On this virtual path, it is not easy to say what may be the problem.
When you use your laptop do you use desktop space?
Do you use it with power supply?

What power profile do you use when laptop stops?
Have you tried changing the settings of food or something else?

Before you start using it intensively have you tried to terminate background processes, disconnect the devices, just to see if that will help?

  • Satellite L500 - missed strikes & touchpad to stop intermittently.

    Hi all

    I recently purchased a Toshiba Satellite L500.

I noticed that when you type, I missed here and there strikes.

When I press and hold a key that the letter runs as normal then stops then runs again. It occurs intermittently and a pain.

I also realized that the touchpad is having the same problem - intermittently, he stops for a split second then works.

Has anyone else had the same problem?

    See you soon

    Hello

    > I have noticed that when you type, I ran out of strikes here and there.
Have you noticed even when the touchpad is disabled?
You can disable the touchpad through FN + F9

Generally, it is difficult to say what might cause this strange thing is that this problem does not appear when the USB mouse is connected.
Have you installed the USB mouse driver? If so, then a 3rd party driver can cause this

Also check if your BIOS is up to date
I read about similar behavior in the past and some people might solve this new BIOS update Setup

Oh I forgot to say, I use Windows Vista 32 bit

    Hello

    > I already looked in this forum and other sites, but none of the solutions have solved my problem.
Does that mean exactly? What have you already tried exactly?
You should post this very important information what you exactly did.

Furthermore, I can't find any more information about your operating system. You are using Vista 32-bit, but is this preinstalled Toshiba or have you installed yourself?

    Good bye

    Hey Buddy,

You use the factory settings or you have installed your own version of Windows? Normally with factory settings (preinstalled Windows from Toshiba) everything should work correctly because this image is pre-tested by Toshiba. Otherwise, it might be a hardware problem.
If you need to reinstall your laptop using the Toshiba recovery disc.

Which driver you use display? You may use Toshiba drivers.

In addition, it could be an overheating problem. You should try to clean your laptop using a jet of compressed air. This could blow out the dust from the cooling fans.

  • Toshiba Service Station has stopped working - Satellite L500 PSLS0A

I have a Toshiba Satellite L500 PSLS0A-019002 with Windows 7 Home Premium pre-installed that I received as a gift from two months ago.

Apart from some do not like the weird and useless (to me) Windows Vista / 7 functions, the Office I get the error message "Toshiba Service Station has stopped working" who proceeds to find a solution, but apparently never find one because this situation repeats itself whenever I start.

On another thread in the forums of Toshiba, someone suggested to download the independent utility called Toshiba Service Station and put it back. I see no such utility listed on the page of downloads for my Toshiba model. Because I don't know what the Toshiba Service Station did (unless it goes by another name - Toshiba Bulletin Board perhaps?), I don't know what causes the error or how to fix.

Does anyone have a more accurate solution?

As the user above has said, you can remove it. It is not important utility and does not have a big problem in your system.

    Please help me

    Hey Buddy,

I m a bit confused now... Do you have Windows 7 or Windows XP?

If you miss some drivers after installing XP, why you update the BIOS?

As far as I know Satellite L500 is supported by Windows XP if you can download all the missing drivers and tools of Toshiba's official website:

  • Portable satellite L500-1XD stops

    Hello

I have Toshiba Satellite L500-1XD. last week, a laptop stops completely when charging the battery turns off. I can see battery appears as 100% charged however laptop are not left on without recharge the battery.

I suspect I need to change the battery but would be good to know if anyone else had this experience with L500-1XD.

    Thank you
    K * ij

I think that this model of laptop is not new. Purchased laptop already used?

It is possible that the battery must be exchanged. When you remove it, you will see the Toshiba label with part number. You can use this part number and order a new one.

  • Re: Satellite L500 - stop all the time

I have a Satellite L500 and I did a re image at the factory on the parameters of the box. When the image is complete and it starts to set up drivers, it stops, the screen was still the backlight but nothing else, I try to wake up and nothing happens. I held down the power button to stop and when I turn it back on the screen stays black and nothing happens.

Once when I got it to work, I started windows normally and there was a message saying that the pilot had a problem. If someone has experienced this problem and if so how is it fixed?

Sometimes if I remove the battery and then replace it, it will come down normally, but stops shortly after. I do not think that it is an overheating problem because it will stay there and work well, everything in the re image is done.

Any ideas short of flush down the toilet.

    See you soon

    Hey Buddy,

This happens in the BIOS too? I mean you should access the BIOS and leave it for a while. What is going on?

It could also be a problem due to a higher internal temperature. If you must clean your laptop using the jet of compressed air to blow the dust from the cooling fans.

In the worst case there s a hardware malfunction, and you need assistance to professional people. They can diagnose the problem and repair it under warranty.
