  The point is that the product key from the underside of the laptop can t be used with another drive in Windows. It s just for the preinstalled OEM version and doesn t work with other versions.

  Normally you n t have to enter a product key if you are using the Toshiba recovery disc because it contains a picture of the factory settings and is different from a disc of Microsoft Vista.

  Anyway, as said Akuma you can order a new drive Toshiba Recovery directly.
  The another model of laptop recovery disk will not work because the hardware is different.

  Start > all programs > Toshiba > utilities > restart Flash cards.
  After doing this press FN button several times.

  Recently, I installed Windows7 ultimate 32 bit for my pc, but the function FN key does not work. I installed the VAD latest version 1.4 (for windows 7) as also the utility of the memory flash card (for vista than windows 7 does not have) as suggested in other threads, but the button still refuses to cooperate with me. The flash memory card are current running ok but only with the mouse. to all my startup programs are running ok and I also try Msconfig restart the map flash several times.

  Step 1:

  You can open the administrator and verify if you can open Windows Easy Transfer correctly.

  You can even check if you face the same question in the user account different or new user account.  You can create a new user account on your computer, and then check.

  An analysis of the SFC and audit-

  A message appears indicating that "the system scan will start. Be patient because the scan can take some time.

  I put t know if you have the original Tools & Utilities CD for this camera. If so there must be advice that the common modules (V.5.03.00) must be installed as a first step, before you install any other tool or utility. This order of the facilities is very important because the common modules is a kind of module which is very important for the other features of the tools.

  Also check out this CD if there is some sort of html file with installation instructions. If you can't find anything please post again. Maybe we can find something to help you.

  Depending on your other threads you have not installed the common Modules on this laptop and I assume that this is the reason why don t FN keys work properly.

  I hope someone can help,
  The function key does not work in windows (I mean here the keys Fn + F6/7 change the brightness during the windows loading screen). There also seem to be buttons along the top of the keyboard (commodity the power button), but these also does not work and never have (and if they are sposed to light up they don't do that either). To let you know where I am, I received my upgrade to windows 7 and installed as the instructions in the package yesterday, (although I had the lappi for a week, I waited for the upgrade before installing anything) but once it was installed, I found he had installed the 32-bit version After trying to re - install vista 64-bit of the unsuccsesfully partition, I finally have reistalled Windows 7 64-bit DVD upgrade, (I think I should add that when it has finished installing any additional software IE.)   PS. I have a Tosh A500-15N and I forgot to say that I tried to do a new installation to see if that would solve the problem, but the ability to recover from the hidden partition is not available on the list, you get to by pressing F8 as windows starts (although the partiotion still exists)

  Hey man, you made it so complicated but in fact all it is so easy and it s pitty, that you have not written of this before you start the upgrade procedure.

  I did update Win7 on friends Satellite A500 month last successfully. This means, he had the factory settings (Vista 32-bit) and we have installed Win7 upgrade using the Toshiba upgrade kit. Laptop works perfectly.

  Back to your question:
  HARD drive recovery option (F8 and repair my computer) is available with the factory only settings.
  If I understand you right, you did a fresh install of Win7. This option won't be available more, and the image recorded on the second partition is useless now and can no longer be cast.

  You can get it if you reinstall Toshiba recovery image. Have you created any such recovery disc recommended by Toshiba?

  I checked Toshiba support and download page and Win7 64 bit is supported on your laptop model and you can do clean install Win7 and install all missing things also. You will be the factory settings but works fine Win7.

  I own a Satellite Pro A200-PSAE7E and a license to retail for Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit Edition (with SP1) is installed.

  Before installing Vista, I have updated the BIOS to the latest version available on the Toshiba site ([http://it.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/vista_drivers.jsp?service=IT]).
  BIOS version is now 2.20 - WIN32 contained in this file: [http://support.toshiba-tro.de/tedd-files2/0/bios-20080404121735.zip]

  After the installation of the operating system, I installed "Value package" ([http://support1.toshiba-tro.de/tedd-files2/0/vap-20080109135106.zip]) that contains the "utility Flash Cards". In my understanding, the installation of the "value added package" should allow the use of Fn keys.
  This doesn't seem to be true or not true.

  Here's what's happening.

  -Prior to installation of the 'value-added' package, all Fn keys did not work.
  -After installation of the "value added package", if the process of TCrdMain.exe is running, all Fn keys do not work.
  -If I remove the startup TCrdMain.exe and I restart the PC, only a few keys Fn function (Fn + ESC, Fn + F1).

  There is no way (or I have not found a way) for all keys Fn works.

  Someone knows how to fix this?

  I am not sure, but it may be because of the SP1. I installed Vista Ultimate on A200 and stuff all listed (drivers, tools and utilities) from Toshiba support page.

  Contains your Vista DVD facilities SP1 or you install on your own? If you install Vista Ultimate Edition (without SP1) and all the stuff on the Toshiba support site order Instructions of facilities.
