  I own a Satellite Pro A200-PSAE7E and a license to retail for Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit Edition (with SP1) is installed.

  After the installation of the operating system, I installed "Value package" ([http://support1.toshiba-tro.de/tedd-files2/0/vap-20080109135106.zip]) that contains the "utility Flash Cards". In my understanding, the installation of the "value added package" should allow the use of Fn keys.
  This doesn't seem to be true or not true.

  Here's what's happening.

  -Prior to installation of the 'value-added' package, all Fn keys did not work.
  -After installation of the "value added package", if the process of TCrdMain.exe is running, all Fn keys do not work.
  -If I remove the startup TCrdMain.exe and I restart the PC, only a few keys Fn function (Fn + ESC, Fn + F1).

  There is no way (or I have not found a way) for all keys Fn works.

  Someone knows how to fix this?

  I am not sure, but it may be because of the SP1. I installed Vista Ultimate on A200 and stuff all listed (drivers, tools and utilities) from Toshiba support page.

  Contains your Vista DVD facilities SP1 or you install on your own? If you install Vista Ultimate Edition (without SP1) and all the stuff on the Toshiba support site order Instructions of facilities.

  Hi the indoorwthrman, since your Windows determines itself as a "Windows NT 4.10" (Windows 98), instead of Windows XP, you could check something. Right click on your program of Firefox shortcut, click Properties, then the Compatibility tab. If something is selected here, deselect, you don't want Firefox to run without all the features of Windows XP. If you make changes, try to exit Firefox and restart to see if it makes a difference.

  I put t know if you have the original Tools & Utilities CD for this camera. If so there must be advice that the common modules (V.5.03.00) must be installed as a first step, before you install any other tool or utility. This order of the facilities is very important because the common modules is a kind of module which is very important for the other features of the tools.

  Also check out this CD if there is some sort of html file with installation instructions. If you can't find anything please post again. Maybe we can find something to help you.

  The function key does not work in windows (I mean here the keys Fn + F6/7 change the brightness during the windows loading screen). There also seem to be buttons along the top of the keyboard (commodity the power button), but these also does not work and never have (and if they are sposed to light up they don't do that either).   PS. I have a Tosh A500-15N and I forgot to say that I tried to do a new installation to see if that would solve the problem, but the ability to recover from the hidden partition is not available on the list, you get to by pressing F8 as windows starts (although the partiotion still exists)

  Hey man, you made it so complicated but in fact all it is so easy and it s pitty, that you have not written of this before you start the upgrade procedure.

  I did update Win7 on friends Satellite A500 month last successfully. This means, he had the factory settings (Vista 32-bit) and we have installed Win7 upgrade using the Toshiba upgrade kit. Laptop works perfectly.

  Back to your question:
  HARD drive recovery option (F8 and repair my computer) is available with the factory only settings.
  If I understand you right, you did a fresh install of Win7. This option won't be available more, and the image recorded on the second partition is useless now and can no longer be cast.

  You can get it if you reinstall Toshiba recovery image. Have you created any such recovery disc recommended by Toshiba?

  I checked Toshiba support and download page and Win7 64 bit is supported on your laptop model and you can do clean install Win7 and install all missing things also. You will be the factory settings but works fine Win7.

  Tried to restore my Satellite A200 to 'out of the box settings', but it did not work.

  It comes up with the message to put in the windows installation disc, so I put in the recovery disc, but nothing is happening outside the laptop suddenly turn off!

  Description of your problem is a little confusing.
  When you want to install the recovery using recovery DVD image, you must boot from this DVD and not wait for some message that tells you to insert the recovery disk.

  Follow these steps:
  # Turn on your laptop, press F12 to get into the boot menu
  # When the start menu is displayed on the screen put the recovery DVD in the optical disc drive
  # In the start menu, choose the CD/DVD drive and press ENTER. This will force ODD to run as first boot device.
  # Follow the menu on the screen.

  When you see option for recovery just language confirm with NEXT and continue the installation of recovery.

  To me that sounds more like a keyboard failure, I can't imagine that it could be linked to the question of the windows operating system do you have tested an external USB keyboard.

  Please test this. In this case, you can check if it s really a software problem.
  If the USB keyboard works correctly, it means that your internal keyboard is malfunctioning.

  Value added contains TOSHIBA Flash Cards, which provides the Hotkey function.
  That means THAT VAP is required for a particular function like the FN keys.

  Start > all programs > Toshiba > utilities > restart Flash cards.
  After doing this press FN button several times.
