Satellite L850 - AMD driver stopped responding message

I received this question now for a few months, and I don't know what to do about this.
I'm working away and all of a sudden the screen goes black for a few seconds then comes back and receive a message "display driver amd not responding and has successfully recovered" - what happened twice that night within minutes of each other.

I have installed the version of the driver is that the same as driver of Toshiba download page. I tried to move to the AMD Web site for a pilot, but they offer a tool to find the right driver but the tool is not compatible with Toshiba and said: to do ' Toshiba Web site, how dumb.

I have a few days ago, I have a facotry "Reinstall" the system to see if that helps, but obviously he didn't. I even tried uninstalling the driver and always put back in place, has not helped.

So I do not know where to go from here.

I thought it was a problem with windows 8, the problem started after the upgrade, so I went back to factory default windows 7. But the problem persists.

Hello

I think that the problem is related to your driver.
An update should fix this
But as you say, you tried to download and install the driver from AMD, but it did not work.

The point is that you must download and install the drivers manually:
http://support.AMD.com/us/gpudownload/pages/index.aspx

There you have to go through step 1 step 5 for the compatible driver package
The package contains:
Display driver
OpenCLDriver
Catalyst Control Center

You only need the display driver.
Now you need to update the driver through the Device Manager:
Here you must use the advanced option allowing you to take the form of driver files the file that you downloaded.

  • Satellite A500 - display driver stopped responding

    Hello

    3 weeks ago, I bought a brand new Toshiba A500. I post here because I found no useful solution.
    Here are the specs:

    Processor: intel core i3 M330 2.13 GHz
    Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M (1024 MB)
    Hard drive: MJA2320BH G2 (320 GB, 5400 RPM, SATA-II)
    RAM: 2 X 2 GB DDR3 - 1066 DDR3 SDRAM (7-7-7-20 @ 533 MHz) (6-6-6-18 @ 457 MHz)
    Audio: Realtek ALC272 @ Intel Ibex Peak PCH
    System: Windows 7 64-bit, made at Toshiba

    The question is: random situations, the screen is in turn black for a few seconds, then the message is pop up saying "display driver stopped responding and has recovered - display driver NVIDIA Kernel Mode Driver, Version 187.98 stopped responding and has successfully recovered" It happens several times a day.

    Display driver sometimes can not be recovered and the system hangs and must be reset. Problem occur on the first day after five minutes of use (when it was not install anything without OS).

    Problem always occurs during normal operation with applications (MS office, firefox, etc.). It's completely random - there are no two the same situations - so when I look at youtube on full screen hd movies it crashes several times, but when I restart the OS and to play the same movie, it works properly.

    Causes of demand, this problem is called TDR (timeout detection and recovery).
    This application GPU reset when get failed for 2 sec. But in a register of Windows7 have entered controlled this application.

    Since I tried following solutions:
    -Updated BIOS.
    -System of resettlement;
    -Display driver update to version 197.16;
    -Check the temperature on the graphics card (when the problem occurs on the graphics card temperature does not exceed 47deg and 36deg processor);
    -Java Update (old version of can of Java causes some device problems);
    -Updated adobe (even Java);
    -Disable aero;
    -Updates of Windows 7;
    -Disable audio (realtek card);

    None of them works.

    The problem occurs during the games (i.ex. The Witcher). I can play 8 hours and nothing weird happens.
    I noticed that this problem occurs also during opening some applications or enter new tasks (when demand for energy is growing rapidly).

    I'm asking this is a driver problem or should I return the laptop to the service.
    I suspect that the problem may be large difference of voltage on the graphics card but I can not verified that.

    If anyone has experience this problem, I'd appreciate any help.

    In my opinion everything you tried has nothing to do with the recovery image installation, especially last two steps. I never heard that the recovery CD can be downloaded.

    Have you created a Toshiba recovery media s advice? If Yes, use please this media and try reinstalling the recovery image. On this forum, you can find several threads with similar problem and check what other people write about it.

  • Satellite A350 - display driver stopped responding and has recovered

    Hi guys

    I'm new to the forum

    My Satellite A350 recovered above this message 3 times and every time I've seen the blue screen.

    I checked my BIOS driver is updated by a check from Microsoft of the driver.

    The thing I did differently is recently I joined a second monitor for the purposes of the study as a form of additional reading... and I wonder if this has caused the pilot to fail and that I shouldn't use it more (or for a short time only?)

    Thanks for the help :)

    Use of the external monitor is not critical, and it is not the reason why this happens. In my opinion, there are some unwanted software.
    Using certain applications requiring a real graphic performance?
    Are you using the original recovery image Toshiba (supplied with the notebook OS)?

    It is not easy to fix this.
    You are using the original display preinstalled by Toshiba driver.

    You can download the latest version here:

  • Please help to choose the order of drivers when I get the "Display Driver Stopped Responding and has recovered" message

    Running: Win7 - XPS 8100 8 GB - 64 bit OS

    Graphics card: ATI Radeon HD 5450

    Serial number ADMIN NOTE: maintain the label removed by privacy policy >

    Hello

    Recently I get this message as the computer freezes momentarily and then recovers.

    "Display driver AMD driver stopped responding and has successfully recovered."

    I checked the support for Dell drivers and received conflicting results.

    When I checked with the help of system analysis, it gave me a list of the 54 system-wide updates. How could it be possible?

    When you use the label of my service, I got the following result:

    ADMIN NOTE: maintain the label removed by privacy policy >

    Don't you think that's what I use, and if yes, can you tell me who I should first put to date? Finally, what I have to uninstall the old drivers and update via the Device Manager?

    Thanks in advance for your help,

    Jane

    54 updates is not necessary. You should only update a driver to correct a specific problem. You don't need to remove the video card driver before installing a newer version.

    * Go here
    * Click on download
    * The file should save on your windows desktop
    * Double-click the file
    Follow the instructions

  • Re: Satellite U500-PSU9ME - display driver stopped responding

    Since I bought the laptop, I had a problem with the display driver.
    The screen maintains the blackout and comes back once a second with the massage of display driver stopped responding and has recovered, I wish that I can attach a screenshot. The laptop has nVidia on her card.

    The dealer replaced it for me, but even with the new, he comes every day once or twice

    It's my 1st Toshiba, I've always heard they are good, but now I'm kind of confused!

    Someone had this problem and could solve it? Help, please.

    Note: I've updated all the drivers.

    Hello

    This error message may appear due to the graphics card driver failure.
    I read on a question also on different Web pages and to be honest, it s not question for laptop

    This may happen due to some problems of compatibility between the driver and software that runs on the laptop. Usually a driver update would help, but if the question seems always so you should check whether a BIOS update and a new OS installation would improve the functionality of the laptop.

    I read also some guys tried the 3-page third-party graphics card drivers and this could help what to say you can try to install a driver from nVidia but this can be done only at your peril because as much as I know non-Toshiba drivers are not supported by Toshiba.

    Hello

    Looks like the graphics card driver crashed for no apparent reason.
    Have you tried to reinstall the graphics driver?

    To do this.
    Visit the page of European Toshiba driver and download the driver for this model of laptop. Update the driver and restart the device.

    It would be interesting to know if it would help.

    I have OS windows 7 and my computer model compaq laptop presario CQ60... can you tell me the link from where I get this update drivers?

    Hello

    What you see is called the TDR (time display and recovery) process in action.

    This component is designed to prevent damage to the computer when the video device is nearby to crash the system. In earlier versions of windows when the display device ran out of resources throughout the system would stop responding, requiring a hard reboot to recover.

    In Windows 7, if the display device is not responding, the system will try to stop and restart the device to recover.

    More information on this feature can be found here (Advanced): http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/hardware/gg487368.aspx (written for Vista, but also applies to Windows 7)

    The most common reason for this problem is that the display device is overloaded or used beyond its capabilities.

    When this situation occurs, windows tries to recover by restarting the display device. If she can't get it back, you will see the blue screen.

    This happens more often when you play graphics intensive, but can occur with any process that uses a large amount of graphic resources, for example, when editing or creating videos.

    What you can do to avoid these problems:

    Make sure that you use the latest graphics device driver.

    Manage your work time with programs that are graphic-intensive, quit other programs that might also use a large amount of resources.
