Satellite M40-CD/DVD drive disappeared

My CD/DVD drive has disappeared from my COMPUTER and won't read any CD the CD alone, it will read is the recovery CD. It must be a software problem, but I don't know how to sort. Anyone have any ideas? It's out of warranty so back to toshiba will cost me a fortune!

Can anyone help?

Hello

If the ODD is not shown in Windows Explorer, but listed in the Manager for devices with yellow symbol (!) Please do this http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;320553 (method 1).

Please let me know what happens after that.

    Hello

I would like to ask for help about this problem:

Today one of the programs from TOSHIBA, that came with my laptop (L650-11F), warned me about an update of the BIOS (v1.80) after download and install my DVD drive disappeared from Win7 and it has a continuous yellow light on it. It does not even open when I press the eject button.

I have however maybe install the old version 1.60 back would help, but TOSHIBA does not keep older drivers version apparently.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Restart your computer. During the startup, at the beginning, press the F2 key to enter the BIOS Setup. In the configuration, press F10 to restore all the default BIOS settings. Save the changes and exit.

    Hello

To be honest, I don't understand. You are talking about the Cd/Dvd drive missing or Dvd Toshiba player?

    Anyway, try this:

    1. access to the registry and delete the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters completely from the following registry key values:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

Reboot the laptop and wait for the CD/DVD drive would appear once again

    or

2 go to the page of the Toshiba driver and download dvd player

  • Re: Satellite A100-1VG - DVD drive disappearing

    Hello

I have problems with the CD/DVD-RW drive on my Satellite A100-1VG. In fact, from time to time he disappears. It will not work to CDs or DVDs and it does not appear on my computer. The only mention of "Hard disks" in bed Device Manager "FUJITSU MHY2120BH ATA Device", which I think is my DVD player.

I tried downloading new drivers without result. Unfortunately, my warranty expired, so I can't just kick the Toshiba laptop to be fixed. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thank you very much in advance.

  • Cd\dvd drive disappeared on Equium A60

    Hi all

Can someone help me? I have an Equium A60. It's 18 months, outside the usual on heating problems and closing, now it starts but my DVD drive disappeared. I have a rug * a DVD-RAM UJ - 830 s. Win XP just didn't load it.

He is no longer in 'my computer '. I'm in Control Panel of configuration and the 'systems' then 'system properties' and watched on 'Device Manager '. The drive is there, but with a big yellow exclamation point. So I checked the 'properties' it has the following message: "Windows successfully loaded the device driver for this hardware, but does not the hardware device. (Code 41) "and troubleshooting has no use.

More than heating cooked my drive? I've updated the drivers for it, but this has no effect.

Any ideas... ?? Thanks in advance...

  • Satellite M40-185: DVD super multi drive does not read the CD

    I own a Toshiba Satellite M40-185. It is mounted with a carpet * a DVD-RAM UJ - 831S.
When I put the CD - R, which are supposed to work on this drive however it read as a CD - R [i.e. the icon changes from DVD - RAM drive in my computer to a CD - R]

However, when you double-click the drive it says D:\ accicble not. But it works fine with DVD.
Recently, I found that it stops between buring DVD as well. I got the replaced disk from Toshiba, but it was not to last long either.
I wonder if his software level problem.

I tried to update the firmware but it does not work because it's another drive for this what is mentioned on the website for drivers...

Maybe it s only a registry error?
I read different statements here in the forum and especially the deletion of in the upper and lower registry filters helps to address these issues.

For more information, see this page of Microsoft Knowledge:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/270008/en-us

Completely remove the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters from the following registry key values:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

    and then restart the laptop

    Good luck

  • Satellite - DVD drive disappeared

Installed new software, the other day to 'catch' a video of my VCR - filled my Vista disk so I uninstalled after you put the video on my hard drive. Now my DVD drive does not appear on my computer.

I tried microsoft automated troubleshooting - it installs the driver for the device and the ram, but it disappears again each time I turn off my pc - and the dvd drive still does not work. I don't know what I'm doing here so if anyone has any simple information how to fix this, I would be very grateful.

    Thank you

    Hi writerchic,

I put t know what Microsoft troubleshooting you have tried or what it does exactly, but in your case, I would like to delete the server - and lowerfilteres in the registry. Therefore, follow these steps:

    (1) run regedit (start-> Run-> regedit)
    2) go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
    (3) in the right pane, delete the "UpperFilters" key and delete the key "LowerFilters".
    (4) restart your laptop.

    It work?

  • Satellite P100-188-CD/DVD drive disappear when install iTunes

    I have a P100-188 and when I install itunes (ver 7.7.11 I think) my D drive disappeared.
If I check in the device manager that there is an error in there against the disc.

The only way I can get back the player must do a system restore.
Does anyone know the version of iTunes that I have to install to bypass this or the correct driver for the reader?
The device has a drive HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GMA-4082N installed.

    Thank you very much

    James

    > "iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close." The error signature shows that: AppName: itunes.exe Appver:8.0.0.35 Modname: unknown Modver:0.0.0.0 Offset: 00008200.

I remember one of my friends had a similar question. The error always appears after the new installation of iTunes.
He called me and I tried different things, I reinstalled the application, clean the OS, etc, but anything :( I was really desperate

Finally, I decided to reinstall the OS to see if there could be something wrong with the Windows installed. And that was the key of the OS has been confused don t I know why, but after the new OS installation (it was a hard way) worked the iTunes

If you can first try reinstalling iTunes, then clean the operating system using CCLeaner and then try again.
If this can't help, then a new install of the OS may be necessary!

    Hello

What model of laptop you have exactly?
Have you checked if the CD/DVD drive has been properly recognized in Device Manager?
    You see yellow exclamation points?

Sorry I don't have any other information.

    Jan

Well, usually if the CD/DVD drive doesn t appear in the BIOS or BIOS cannot recognize the ODD then chances are that the CD/DVD drive is malfunctioning.

But the best way to check this is a new installation of the OS. You should try to boot from a bootable XP CD.
If the laptop would be able to boot from the CD, then the material is ok.

  • Satellite L40 - CD/DVD drive does not end to close after burning

    Hello

My TOSHIBA SATELLITE L40 works correctly under VISTA HOME PREMIUM. This is the first time that I realize that the CD/DVD driver is unable to complete a session of engraving using NERO8, NERO9, ASHAMPO TSHIBA DISC CREATOR or in Windows mode. The burn starts fine from 0% to 100% where it remains for a long time. Where can be the problem come from? Is the driver broken only for burning?

It correctly reads all CDs and DVDs once loaded.

    Thank you!

    Hello

I think that this problem can be caused by using fully compatible diskettes
I had many problems with different CD or DVD from different manufacturers.
I tested several brands and finally I had a good experience with TDK discs Verbatim R my disk manages this disc better than others

Perhaps, you should also test different drives from different manufacturers.

  • Satellite C660 - 11K DVD drive does not

I was just become acquainted with my new laptop Satellite C660 - 11K that I bought for Christmas and came to try playing a DVD for the first time tonight.

The first one I tried was a business produced in format DVD RW DVD. When I inserted in the DVD player, I got a "Windows Media Player has encountered a problem during playback of the file" error message. Following the troubleshooting guide to check my sound, video settings and game controllers do not solve the problem.

I then tried a purchased movie DVD (DVD-video format) and received the same error message.

Finally, I have inserted an audio CD purchased and tried to play it through Windows Media Player and iTunes, but could not play all titles. The Gracenote software did, however, identify the CD and track names.

By Device Manager, I found that my DVD drive is a TSSTcorp CDDVDW TS-L633C and that it is enabled, the value of region 2 DVD and it has drivers up to date.

Am I missing something stupid that prevents me to get my DVD player to work, or do I have a defective DVD player?

Any help or ideas greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.

    Hi mate

Perhaps you need a firmware update for the CD/DVD drive.
    I found this Toshiba document:

+ ODD Firmware Update to fix problems with audio sound distortion on playback of the CD in Windows 7 +.
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/TSB0502VV0000R01.htm

Please check and if necessary, update the firmware!

  • Satellite Pro A210 DVD Drive not working no-error code 39

    Hi all

My Satellite Pro A210 dvd player does not load.
When I looked inside, he showed an error code 39.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling but it still doesn't work.

    Any ideas?

    Hello

To my knowledge, the 39 error message appears if the CD/DVD drive is not visible in my computer.
    You can try this workaround:
Go to Device Manager and remove the drive CD/DVD from the list of devices.
Then go to the registry (regedit) and remove upper and lower key filters:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\ Control\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

Then restart the device and test again
    I think this should help!
