Satellite M40X-230: Unstable Wireless 2200BG Network connection

Received a computer laptop satellite Toshiba M40X-230 and I have problems with the wireless network card. Speed drops to 54 Mbit/s to 1 Mbit/s.

Can anyone help.

Hello

You have installed a newer version of the driver wireless 2200 BG?
I read some comments here in the forum, and it seems that the update of the driver will solve this problem.

  • Satellite M40X-230 turns off randomly

    Hello

My satellite m40x-230 is about 2 years old. Recently, power has been cut out completely Mid-use - for example I watch a movie and suddenly everything power to cancel - it is connected through the ESA and the battery is connected when this happens. If I unplug the AC and the battery and wait a while, then ac and battery back, I can to come back on and it works very well for a while.

Can anyone suggest what the problem please?

    Thanks in advance.

Not easy to say with certainty what the problem may be but let us start with an innocuous explanation: I think that this happens due to overheating. Obviously the material temperature has reached the critical level and the laptop turns off simply without any warning.

It is because of the material. Because of this, the first step, you can do is to clean your laptop. I guess that after two years, there is a lot of dust on the inside and the air flow is blocked.

  • Satellite M40x-230 - YouTube videos is not continuous

Since the purchase of the satellite M40x-230 in 2005, he was never able to play online or off connection permanently in the video, the video stops to load a few seconds to a minute, about 10 to 20 seconds. In this case you were using itunes, windows media player or winamp.

I downloaded the latest version of Adobe flash, but I'm not sure that there is an error with the laptop itself. The operating system has been reinstalled several times but the problem remains. I don't have this problem on a new netbook from toshiba.

    The information system are:
    Windows XP SP3 operating system,
Intel (R) Pentium (R) M processor clocked at 1.86 GHz,
    512 MB of RAM.
    Graphics - unknown

I would appreciate any information that might lead to a solution for this.

    Kind regards

    Hello

I put t know which videos you look, but perhaps that you have to install a new codec pack. Just use Google to find these codec packs.

In addition, I recommend VLC media player. It s a freeware player that can play most audio and video files. It s freeware! :)

    Hello

The screen must be replaced on my Toshiba Satellite M40X-230, and that I was looking for an online version (pdf) of the manual for it (as it's second hand so I do not have the documents to toshiba) I need basically mainly for an overview of how the screen of the laptop computer is equipped, I was wondering if anyone can link me to it if they know where abouts it is because I checked the site Web of Toshiba and my model is not listed when I just try to get it.

  • Satellite M40x-230 - display driver lost

    Hi, I'm new here.

I've had this laptop model Toshiba Satellite M40x-230 for about 4-5 years now. The hard drive is full so I thought I would like to remove some unwanted files. I did 2 things

    (1) uninstall some programs that I don't use anymore
    (2) use Disk Cleanup to delete unused files.
I thought I knew exactly what I was remove, but when I did, I found that the display went bizarre.
When I checked, I found that it was showing only a default driver. Worse still, when I went in the trash to try to undo what I had done, he has no files inside.
I tried to do a system restore, but it does not work.

I went on the site of Toshiba and sought the drivers for my laptop. There are 2 options. I downloaded all of them and tried to install. The first one (Intel) said my system did not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software. The other is (ATI) said the length of the specified directory path and the name of the installation folder exceeds 88 characters and to shorten it?

Please can someone help me get my display back to how it was. It of usable but looks terrible and base.

I know I'm a model so please be gentle with me.

    Hello

    Try this one:

    ATI

    http://Support1.toshiba-tro.de/Tedd-files2/0/display-20080416165814.zip

    or
    Intel

    http://Support1.toshiba-tro.de/Tedd-files2/0/display-20080416165832.zip

I don't know if your laptop is equipped with Ati or Intel, that's why I posted 2 drivers.

  • Satellite M40X-230 memory upgrade

    Upgrade memory

I have a satellite M40X-230, most of the documents indicate that it is expandable up to 2 GB of RAM.
On the underside there a memory expansion slot which will have a 1 GB SODIMM, giving me a total of 1.5 G bytes of RAM.

Is it possible to add the other 500 MB. (I'm experimenting with Virtual Machines and data bases)

    In case anyone is interested!

There is a module in memory of 500MByte located on top of the motherboard. Unfortunately this is mounted internally in the case.
It is located below and slightly to the right of the center of the keyboard.
However, the casting of the cover of the laptop cover electronics and so it is not accessible by simply removing the keyboard. the top cover should be thrown which also consists of removing the screen.

Otherwise, the module is mounted in exactly the same type of socket than under the machine.

  • Satellite M40X-230: the display will not stay in position

Can someone help me, when I opened my laptop the movements of the screen on the hinges back about an inch freely instead of being closed, is anyway it can be tightened?

Is the case please let me know.

    See you soon

    Hello

I suppose that the left or right hinge becomes tense and so the lid doesn't it stay the right position.
Unfortunately, I n t think you can resolve it the other side.
I think that the hinges need to be replaced. Try to contact Toshiba service partner in your country.

  • Satellite M40x-105 - PCMCIA wireless LAN card

    Hi guys. One question.

In a Toshiba Satellite M40X-105 that has a pcmcia Type II card slot, will be this LAN card wireless ZYXEL G-170 s card 802.11 wireless g CardBus, work? Card CardBus is only compatible with pitches type II 32-bit card right?

Is the laptop has a map of 32 or 16 bits? Thank you

    Hey,.

In general I put t see a reason why it should not work = PC card slot PCMCIA slot.
Only cards express don t work because express card is the successor of PCMCIA.

An alternative you can buy a USB key with the WLAN functionality if you prefer this way. ;)

  • Scrambled screen & colors is not consistent on satellite M40X-230

Hi, I have a M40X-230, a few weeks ago, I started to see a garbled screen where colours were not consistent and the screen looked as if she was chopped vertically in 3 and all three parts were in and out of the other mixture.

It lasted about 10-15 minutes and he persisted through reboot. However, this would not happen whenever the machine has been used. After another week or so when the machine is started, even the Toshiba splash screen is cut as described above, this continues when the config in the BIOS (press F12 at startup).

The machine is able to boot in safe mode, but the same problem occurs and when an external monitor is attached the problem is visible on the attached screen as well.

Anyone seen this before? All the tips, I think it's my graphics card or perhaps the LCD, but really not sure.

  • Frequent disconnections of WLan on satellite M40X-230

My laptop undergoes frequent disconnects on the internet and it becomes very annoying. Situation is that the laptop connects wireless to the Internet via a Belkin router. The router works well, and I use Aol for the ISP.
Our second laptop, also a Toshiba but a satellite A30-203 does not suffer from problems despite using the same router.

Two laptops have SP2 and the M40 is centrino mobile while the satellite has a card (also Belkin) wireless adapter.

If I look at the connection speed, it varies between 54 Mbit/s and 1 MB/s and said that the signal strength is excellent regardless of speed. This means that the problem lies in the laptop or its parameters, or must he chipset drivers upgrade?

Any help would be appreciated as the slow performance especially when loading pages on the net makes me stupid.

    Hello

You should know that there are different standards of WLan that supports of different properties.
The standards are 802.11 A, B or G. Currently, the standard 802.11 G wireless supports the fastest connection.
The best combination is the using the router and wireless network adapter that supports the same standard.

You suggested that the A30 Satellite using the Belkin WLan adapter. I guess it has better compatibility between router Belkin and Belkin WLan card. As a result, you will get the best performance.

However, on your satellite, you must check the WLan card properties. There you should find a few options that could increase performance card and connectivity.
Important: Energy saving Option should be disabled in the properties of the map. Try also to set the WLan range at the highest level.

In addition it s advisable to check the WLan card driver updates. If you use a map control WLan Intel the Intel page for updates.

  • Is this a problem of graphics card on my satellite M40x-230?

I just turn on my laptop one morning and I get this screen:

    http://img10.imageshack.us/img10/4330/image0026d.jpg

Something related material is in place, I'm sure of it. Oddly enough, I can still use the laptop with an external display connected.

    Any suggestions?

    > Oddly enough I can still use the laptop with an external display connected.
If you use the external monitor then this problem cannot be bound to the graphics card.
If the graphics card would be affected then the external monitor wouldn't work!

What if you could start Notepad?
You see the Toshiba homepage at the beginning?
You are able to access the BIOS?

I use Latitude D430 Laptop & Windows XP. Initially, it is ok, but after some time I have a connection problem. I have run the diagnostics & "Radio Test" failed. Any idea about this problem? The problem is solved only when I restart my computer. I think the Win XP driver problem because I don't have this problem when I use Win Vista. Everyone knows it needs to solve this problem?

  • Satellite M40X-230: display fault - vertical lines

My laptop crashed last night and on itself reboot screen displayed (spaced on each 8mm) vertical dotted lines and then crashes with the following message (edited for the relevant points)

"Windows was arrested to avoid any damage to your computer.
The problem seems to be caused by the following file: ati2dvag...
The device driver got stuck in an infinite loop. This usually indicates problem with the device itself or with the device driver...
    "Technical information: * STOP: 0x000000EA (0x822185B0, 0xF8972CB4, 0 x 82133288, 0x00000001)".

The screen is damaged now wherever the phone is turned on.

However, if I have it start again, after the error, then mode message without failure, once Windows is used the display looks good (he is still defective prior to this, however). The same fault also occurs with an external monitor.

I tried to uninstall the driver for the graphics card, but that makes no difference.

Any ideas? I would like to reinstall windows, but that the fault if poster before the aircraft reach POST I really don't think that will make all the difference. That the screen is in Mode safe but not while it is booting up also does very much make sense to me either.

Thank you very much to get this far in my ramblings.

    Rich

    Hello

    According to the error message:
"... This usually indicates problem with the device itself or with the device driver... »

It may be a faulty graphics card because the same defect appears on the external display. But diagnostic tests are required to be 100% sure what s the fault could be.
The Toshiba service partner can start the test and then can give you some details about the failure. So, in my opinion, you should contact Toshiba service partner in your country.
