  I have Satellite M30x and Mat * one year dvd - ram uj-8205. On the beginning everythinks worked very well, but in the last months of 2-3 that it cannot reads some CD and have problems with CD burning
  I restarted the laptop with the recovery cd, but still the same problems. Before robooting, I used nero 6, thougth perhaps, this is the problem in nero, now using just Sonic record now accompanies the DVD.

  How to help you if you don't mention what CD cannot be burned (original music CD, homes burned CDs, just specific producers, only some files are not readable). Give us more info on this issue.

  Check a little better, and if there is no success is perhaps the defective drive. It is well known that some CD (a cheaper) cannot be burned properly.

  It's weird, music CD's fine, game DVD and data DVDs no problem but if I want to watch a recent movie, my dvd drive is disabled. What a weird copy protection? I bought this partially to watch movies when the main TV set wasn't available and I feel ripped off the coast. Old DVDs are fine (the monster inc etc). Work on this late nights trying to see what is wrong. The DVD even work on my friends mac so I don't understand. He believes that it is a windows thing done on purpose.

  My laptop is still big, and I don't want to get a new one.
  The DVD combo 'Mat * a DVD - RAM UJ-820 s' is now defective! The nearest Toshiba Servicecenter said that there will be EIGHT HUNDRED DOLLARS and gave no other details or suggestions, but if I find cheaper that they will install it.

  Now Ive has been unable to find the UJ-820 's' but some stores online request for similar models (UJ-846 and UJ - 850 among others) replace it without complications and are like 10 times cheaper.
  If anyone knows exactly what we can replace the UJ-820 s (same characteristics)
  Please let me now, it will be highly appreciated.

  You can use almost all mast * one car because readers have some major differences. Maybe we can do DVD-R and another can do more media, but if you just need a reader to write cd/dvd then you can catch a UJ-846 or something similar from the connectors and electronics are almost the same.

  I have a Satellite M55-S325 with MAT * A DVD - RAM UJ-years 840 Firmware Version 1.52 I bought States 5 months ago, everything seemed fine until a few weeks ago when I tried to write some data DVD, I had unrecoverable errors while writing the DVD using NERO 7 ULTRA EDITION, but now I get this messege all the time and I'm not able to write any DVD the disc seems to be well in CD writing. I tried to use recording SOUND now that comes with the laptop, no luck. I tried to reduce the size of the files, and try with lower write speeds but still no luck. I disabled burning CD of the Windows XP SP2 IMAPI burning service COM as well. I use a good quality DVD-R that worked fine before. I would appreciate your help because my HDD is almost full (but still 10 GB of free space) and I need to get a backup of my data.

  Windows uses the internal Microsoft driver that controls the ODD.

  In any case, the European driver Toshiba page contains a DVD - RAM driver. This driver gives you more support for your DVD RAM drive.

  I have a Satellite M45-S355 laptop and never tried to burn DVDs so far. I know it's a rug * a pilot/burner UJ - 831 s.
  I am not able to find any DVD x 16 for their speed. How can I burn on these types of DVDs?

  When I try to format a disk, etc., the computer says that the CD/DVD-R are not supported by this version of DLA.

  If you want to burn data to DVD then I would recommend using a 3rd party software like Nero burning ROM
  I use Nero and I got m.

  Also I recommend you to check the registry and to remove the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters values completely from the following registry key:
  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

  Finally and most importantly you can use DVDs that can be engraved with a higher speed, but I recommend the DVD with the lower speed burning I do with 1 x speed.

  Hi, I have a Toshiba P30-145 with a carpet * a DVD-RAM UJ - 831S Cd/DVD drive. I installed the version of Nero in my possession from my old computer, v.5.5.9.22, which seems to date back to 2002 c. Nero is not recognizing the carpet * one as a valid drive.

  Is it because my version of Nero is too old? I visited the Nero Web site and find a list of compatible drives, but unfortunately, while much of Mat * one disks appear, my version is not. Any ideas?

  I think you are already on the right track. Is there any availble upgrades for your Nero? Sometimes there are packages of fixes that also contains some data-burner.

  Hmm, sounds like a laser lens malfunctioning drives.

  There may be a chance; You can try to clean the lens of the laser drive s carefully using a set of cleaning.

  I have goggled and found a few sets that seem to be designed for such a procedure:
  Google for MAXELL CD345 CD Laser Lens Cleaner or Allsop - the lens CD Laser cleaner.

  Maybe that will help you make the drive works again.
  But if the reader will manage not CDs or DVDs even if the goal of s drive has been cleaned then I don't think that the replacement of readers might help you.

  Then perhaps you could post a right cell phone model.

  Secondly I recommend to follow this short statement to solve this;
  -go to Device Manager and remove the ODD (optical disc) of the list of devices
  -Then go to the registry and remove the
  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
  -then restart the device and check how it works

  I have a Satellite M70-165 equipped of a DVD unit MAST * a DVD-RAM UJ - 841S (5.1.2535.0 driver version).
  After years of 1 and a half with no problems, a few days ago, I restore the operating system (Windows XP Home) through the Toshiba restart DVD.

  Then the CD/DVD unit can read the DVD-audio, CD, or movie, but when I open a DVD (DVD software) data it is said that "it is not possible to access the D:\". ». and some time "poblem whith I/O device. and the same problem that I have with some new cd (which were not burn)

  You can do the following: go to download drivers of Toshiba Europe site and check if there is an update of firmware for this specific player. If so, I strongly recommend you apply and check if it works.

  If the didn t of the firmware update worked later you assumed that the reader is defective and must be replaced.
