Satellite M60-135 warranty

Hi guys,.

I bought the m60-135, including an offer for a free warranty extension. I registered my laptop, but after checking my warranty status, I realized that I have only 365 days. so, what should I do to get the guarantee of 2 x 365?
Thanks in advance,
Chris

  • Satellite M60-135: no function Sound Mixer level controls to "CD player".

    Hallo,

On my Satellite M60-135 (Toshiba original Setup) Windows XP Sound Mixer shows a slider of level setting for the drive but it doesn t work.
I can drag the level control or may mark the mute control for CD player, but it has no effect.

I tried to disable digital playback in the device driver for the DVD-RAM device but it doesn't change anything on the level control.

Is this a general problem of the Satellite M60, is a specific defect of my M60 or can it be fixed by updating all the drivers?

    Thank you for any suspicion.

    Wolfgang Nohl

    Hello, Wolfgang

Believe me that this is not a problem or any kind of fault. As you know CD players used on desktop computers have audio out port. This level control Configurator will be used just for them. Portable CD or DVD player has this audio separated on the port and that this option cannot be used. The same situation is on my Tecra M1.

In addition, it is a tool of Microsoft and Toshiba has no influence on it. As you know there is no OS designed only for laptops and this option is that it can not be used.

Good luck and have lots of fun with your M60. It's a great unit!

  • Re: Question about RAM on Satellite M60-135

    Good evening

SRY for my English in advance ;)

I intend to increase the RAM of my M60-135 Satellite. On the home page, I found two corresponding modules.
One is PA3411U-2M1G and the other is PA3411S-2M1G. The descriptions for the two modules are exactly the same (1024 MB (1 GB) memory PC2-) 4300 DDR2 (533 MHz).

Can someone tell what is the difference between them?

Thank you very much for your answers. :)

    Always it is that you should be able to use all modules of memory manufacturers of different modules that supports the specifications on the right;
The Satellite M60-135 supports the DDR2 533 MHz (PC2-4200) 200-PIN SODIMM memory modules.

    Hello

I have the same opinion as Pappl. As far as I know, this unit comes with two different graphics cards. Look for information on this subject and buy the best. The display is great.

I think it's the first Toshiba laptop with digital block. The speakers are very good and you will enjoy watching the DVD.

Just one thing: this unit is shipped without Tools & Utilities CD and before you do something, it is recommended to make a. Please go to Toshiba Assist and under protection & Fix, you will find an option that allows you to create this CD which can be very useful if a problem occurs.

    Good luck!

  • Satellite M60-135 with 4 GB of RAM, is it possible?

I have a M60-135 with installation of 2 * 512MB RAM on it. I had bought 2 * 2GB 800 MHz RAM, but when I install them, the laptop recognize the 2 GB.
I have XP installed on the machine. Is there a way to make the device to recognize the 4 GB?

In advance, thanks for your comments

Satellite M60 can be upgraded to 2 GB of RAM only. Sorry, but you cannot increase the amount of RAM.

The BIOS of my M60-135 (Phoenix) clearly provides no possibility to view or modify properties attached readers DMA.

  • Satellite M60-135 does support C - salt?

    Hello

TEAC DVD player no longer works.
So I would like to replace it.
Think I fell on the drive Pioneer DVR-K16L of alternatives.

But it is obviously set to "cable select".
My M60-135 does support this, or do I have to choose another drive?

    Any suggestions welcome!

    THX!

    Hello

These information are not known to me, and especially if you want to buy a car for you laptop, you must first call the Toshiba authorized service provider for more information on compatible players.

There is also another possibility to find out what the laptop supports parameters.
I use Nero burning rom and this application supports a diagnosis function. He entered the information about the installed CD/DVD drive.
After this diagnostic procedure, you need to know more details about the installed drive and you must buy the player that supports the same specifications

  • Satellite M60-135: How can I change the language of the OS?

    Hello!

I have purchase an M60-135. But it's in Germany! So as you understand everithink it is written in the German language :) but
I understand English! What can I do about it? {windows and all programs}!

    Thanks to recommend it!

    Hello

Well, it seems that you need an English restore CD.
As far as I know it of not possible to install only one language pack or something like that.
If you want to have an English operating system, you need to reinstall the entire system.
In this case, you try to install the original engl. Windows operating system and then all Toshiba drivers or you contact the service partner Toshiba for a restoration CD.

  • Debian Linux suggestions for Satellite M60-135

    Hello

I would like to have a Linux Debian functional system as a main OS on my M60-135.

So far, I have tried several Live CD and DVD:
    -4 debian itself
    -Knoppix to 5.2
    -Kanotix 2006
    -Sidux Chaos
-Ubuntu and Kubuntu (the two 6.10)
    -Linux Mint 2.2

    Also:
    -Fedora Core 6
    -Free Mandriva 2007

None of them work due to problems with the X server.
Obviously, the ATI graphics chip does not.
Setup continues correctly - even up to the sounds of the operating system startup - but the screen remains black.
So no way to enter the console, do not change the files or whatever.

    Now my answer:
Anyone who manages to get a Debian system running on such a machine an if-HOW?
Please keep in mind that I am a newbie to Linux and I have for these reasons forward rather 'visible' explanations ;-)

    By the way:
OpenSUSE 10.2 recognizes the graphics card properly and boots up to a visible screen.
    What's different here?
However Suse is not my way of Linux...

    Thanks for all the ideas!
    Blues

    Hello

the thing is that linux is not perfectly executed on EACH system, so if you want first linux then use a distribution that works out of the box.

Thus, it doesn´t matter which distribution you use, if you are a beginner then start with suse. It s distribution perfect to start and after some time of practice, you'll have more experience and you would be able to configure your system if something goes down.

It s just a matter of time what distro you use, but don t overload with dists as fedora, gentoo, or something else.

Try it with suse and make your way. :)

    Welcome and good luck

  • Satellite M60-135 no longer works

    Hello

My problem is as simple as not good: I was playing a computer game, and suddenly the computer off. Now I can't start over mobile phones. If I press the power on button, _nothing_ happens.
The laptop is not working with the power supply or the battery. The power LED or DC LED are off all the time. Is there something I can do? Is damaged the motherboard?
I never had problems with my toshiba! Warranty end of August. Help, please!

    see you soon,

    Chris

    Hello Chris

It sounds wrong to me. Remove the battery, connect your portable computer to the AC adapter and try to turn it ON.
What happen if you try to do this? All led's? Flashing LED perhaps?

If nothing happens, that I fear, you must contact authorized service in your country.

  • Problem with games on M60 - 135

    Hello!
I have a Satellite M60-135. I had a problem with it. I can play with only 1024 x 768. But the display and the graphics chip is able to play with 1440 x 900. I already downloaded the driver to display on the toshiba site and installed it is new, but nothing has changed. Can you help me? Is there a newer driver anywhere? You have a solution?
    Sorry for my bad English.

    Thank you!

    Hello

As far as I know many games have an option to change the graphic properties.
    You should check this possibility.
The screen resolution of 1440 x 900, you can use if you are working with programs operating system such as office or IE.

  • M60 - 135: where can I get the Power Saver utility?

    Hello!

    Best regards
    Thomas

    Hello

Well, I n don't know why, but on the Toshiba Europe site I can t find the saver of energy for your device.
As far as I know your laptop comes with TOSHIBA Power Saver V1.32.0.3C.
But on the Toshiba USA page, I found this tool for any other machine (Satellite M60-S811ST)

    http://www.CSD.Toshiba.com/

I m not 100% sure, but you can try to install this version. Maybe it works.

  • Satellite M60-166: care of the defective AC adapter - I need to replace it?

I have a portable Satellite M60-166, which is powered by the PA1750-09 power adapter.
The end that plugs into the laptop is a bit faulty as it reload only in certain positions.
    I can't, unfortunately, accompanied.

Replaces the ENTIRE BLOCK the only possibility for the extraordinary charge of around £30?
    Thank you

Hmm, theoretically, you can replace the Witch of universal Charger AC adapter but this AC must support the same specifications as ampere, volt, watt values!

But believe me; You must use the adapter recommended by Toshiba due to the warranty policy. Maybe if you do NOT use the charger Toshiba and this 3rd sector adapter part may damage the motherboard specifications then the warranty does not cover the repair procedure.

Therefore, you are only on the safe using the specially designed original adapter side for your laptop!

    Best regards

  • Upgrading processors with Satellite M60

    Hello
    I own a toshiba satellite m60
Does anyone know if a processor upgrade is possible?
I think the core of centrolo solo could be upgraded to centrino duo (first generation of dual core laptop, before core 2 duo)

    Any help?
    Thank you.
    Ludovic

    Hello

A processor upgrade is not possible, due chipset limitations. I ve tried in my M50 and nothing happened. Machine or boot or anything.

And the other side is, you will lose your warranty if you´re exchange of database components, because you´re open your machine and with this action, actually void you your warranty.

  • Satellite L300D-135 - some keys stop working after a few minutes

Satellite L300D-135 (PSLC8E-02P013EN) portable model, boot cold keyboard is fine. As things warm up the keys R and there stop responding as do 7890 keys. May be heat related.

The keyboard has been replaced, old and new are doing the same thing, so it's more like a controller issue. Have flashed the latest BIOS as saw talk of the keyboard problems in one of the versions of the BIOS. The end user has been tolerated for a few months, but now, Dyslexic child needs to use the laptop and cannot deal with dead keys.

Any ideas? Laptop is 2 weeks out of warranty and user end just asked me to take a peek, problem has been around for the warranty period.

    Phil

    Hi Phil

Can you notice the question even if you connect an external keyboard or this only happens with an intern?

I can t imagine it has something to do with the heat, but if you want you can clean your laptop using a jet of compressed air. This could blow out the dust from the cooling fans.

If this isn't the case, you must replace the entire keyboard. Normally it of not so expensive so Don t you worry not about it. You can also ask your ASP if they can repair as a gesture of goodwill.
