  Recently my Satellite m70-164 started to freeze after only a few minutes of work. The picture on the screen freezes, and a few seconds later, it becomes completely black.
  The computer doesn't even have time to warm up, and it's not stop... It's just the screen that freezes and becomes so black. I have to reset the computer by pressing the power button. (I write from another computer).

  In my opinion it is not easy to offer any help. Depending on your display of work materials and the latest driver WLAN is installed. It is not easy to explain why this WLAN signal is unstable. For the right answer, you should see if the reason for this is router or WLAN hardware on your laptop.

• Satellite M70-164 don't seam to work at all

  I have an old M70-164 which was daily used (windows XP SP3 Home) as my work machine (not to mention the usual stuff of MSoffice and webbrowsing, I use molecular modeling software, Python interpreter and some software of image rendering, as well as be used to access a network of Linux machines).

  It has been used this way for the past four years or so! Battery of died you long ago, and I never use it.
  PS died too, and I use a newer version (with the same exact specifications).
  A week ago, the computer wouldn't start. I noticed that the hot water heat exchanger (he found to be turned off when the Windows logo has showed - about 5 to 10 seconds after pressing the power button) and who offered to throw a poor circulation of air heat exchanger.

  I backed up my data HD connect HARD drive in an external enclosure Sata USB HD and backup on my desk at home.

  I took the machine apart and clean all the components (there was actually a lot of debris restricting air flow). It was in pieces, I also replaced again had heat on CPU (without removing it from the socket) and on the GPU). Put everything together and it worked fine! Can it run much cooler it is used for :-).

  I decided to reinstall the OS using the cd Toshiba provided (including Windows XP and all hardware drivers), as I already had all of the saved data. No problems!

  By updating the operating system (to SP3) after being prompt to restart, it did not.
  I used the system restore cd, once again, and installed Windwos XP normally.
  I stopped the machine and planed to do the updates the next day!

  And it's my problem now!
  The machine is not sewing to work at all! The LCD screen is the lightup (completely black as if its judgment).

  I have to check it connected to an external monitor, but even if the LCD screen is faulty, I expect some HARD drive that is not present activities!

  Did someone faced a similar problem? any suggestions?
  I'm going to hook it up to an external monitor tonight and will display the result!

  Remove the battery and unplug the AC adapter.
  Then wait some time (1-2 hours)

  You know, with lots of color, but I don't understand anything in it! As you was whatching a coded TV channel, flicking and with no image defined.

  Anyone know what it can be? It started to happen when I installed windows Vista. I already did twice, but the problem is still present. I've used Vista drivers, the drivers from the ATI site, toshiba.ca drivers, drivers of other toshiba computers...

  I don't know what to do more. If you can help, I would like to say thank you.

  Your M70 seems to be a European model and this is why you must use the graphics drivers that are specifically designed for this model of laptop but unfortunately I checked on the European pilot site and found nothing :(

  As you know Toshiba doesn't support Linux on the laptop model, and you'll be really lucky if someone has the same model of laptop and the same problems of Linux.

  On Linux forums, you can chat with others about installing Linux on different laptops, but with a similar hardware configuration.

Apart from the difficulties to install linux due to raid configuratios (I've posted about this before, finally, I got on top of it) the computer works very well under the new OS and now I can run Win + linux. The only thing is that so far he does not my SD card reader when I'm working with my partition linux... and also he does not SD cards when it is plugged into a USB card reader, which makes me think it's not a problem on the (i.e. the missing driver) SD card reader but some inability to recognize what kind of devices without distinction of the port their plugged in. Any ideas on how to make this work?

  I'm having some problems on my laptop, whenever I play on it, or when I use a program that loads the cpu and the gpu at 100% of my laptop becomes extremely hot and sudeently turns off.
  Is not under my legs, but on a table, and it's happened before, but now it happens constantly.

  But it s unusual that the laptop stops and overheating.

  In my eyes, it happens because the cooling modules cannot run with maximum performance and don t cool parts like CPU

  Especially dust and debris to prevent the fans work properly check fans and try to clean it using the vacuum cleaner.
