  Unfortunately I put t know exactly why this happens but try to check if the FN + F10 or F11 is enabled. On this way the small grey symbols are activated and usual symbols are disabled. Test it!

  To be honest, I have never experience this problem and I can't believe that a higher temperature of HARD drive could affect the functionality of keyboard

  However, maybe you should clean the grids and the cooling fans. The notebooks are clogged with dust and don t cooling modules work properly.
  Use a jet of compressed air which should help to remove dust, I think this should help to reduce the internal temperature.

  This means that you will not be able to disable the SATA feature!

  As Akuma, you need to install the SATA driver first.
  You can do this by using the USB external floppy drive or you will create the new CD of Win XP and will include the SATA driver using the free tool called nLite.
