  • Satellite M70 - after HARD drive partitioned, the OS does not start

    Hello

Good then this is a real doozy, and I hope that someone will help.

I started to fix my satellite m70 girlfriends using the disc of recovery etc, everything went fantastic, the HARD disk has been erased and Windows + all software has been reinstalled.

Then I thought it would be a good idea to use partition magic to partition the hard drive, so I chose the main hard drive and cut 10GB of it to put in place a new partition.

I rebooted, and then after Windows restarted again completed.

NOW, it does not charge, it says no operating system, so I tried to start with the recovery disk and all over again...

If I click on continue (to start the recovery process), however it is said now that the "Error #1828", free space is too small.

I'm really angry that this has happened and I just want to start over again.

Can someone help me with this?
I can't access the Bios either (not sure if that might help), because I don't know the password (must be a fault im not aware of).

    Help, please.

    Thank you

I think that this is the reason why you used a tool to change the size of the partition. At best, this should be done before you install Windows and 10 GB is a little too small for Windows. You must use at least 15-20 GB for the first partition where the BONE is placed.

To resolve this problem, you must delete all existing partitions before using the recovery disk. Therefore, you can use a Windows XP disk or something else. Just boot from it and delete all partitions. Then the recovery disk should work.

  • Satellite M70 - no hidden restore partition

I noticed that many laptops Toshiba hidden partition and recovery DVDs either. I have no partiotion hidden, only the recovery DVDs. Is this normal?

Yes this is normal. For this former model for computer laptop Toshiba didn't create recovery partition. Satellite M70 comes with recovery DVDs.

New laptop models are supplied without recovery DVD media, but with recovery image saved on the second partition and each owner of the laptop can create CD/DVD recovery only.

    Hello

Have you tried to Flash the BIOS in the Windows operating system?

The BIOS is focused on victory and you can Flash the ROM module using the version of the BIOS based win.

This, to a Windows operating system installed.

Found a doc HowTo very interesting on the update of the BIOS.

  • Satellite M70 - black screen after the installation of recovery

So far, what I did is put in the Recovery DVD - ROM product. Then when my computer restarts I was invited to restore my computer failing and said. After that he went through this process, that he told me to remove the disc that I did. Now he only get a black screen after the Toshiba screen that gives me options f2 for Setup and f12 for options.

I don't know what to do now to make my laptop works again. Help, please.

    Hi Zach_1,

Have you tried to launch the installation of recovery again? Maybe that something was wrong during the first installation, it might have arrived
Then retry the recovery facility and see what happens.

If it doesn't work you should try a normal Microsoft disk so determine if the problem is related to hardware or recovery disk.

  • Satellite M70: How partition the HDD via the restore CD?

I'm going to format and reinstall XP on my Toshiba satellite M70 via the restore CD.
It has 40 GB of hard drive. I want to ask is an option in the recovery CD to partition my HD before you install the OS, just as we can do so through XP CD?

    Enemy thanks any help.

Of course, it of possible to create a partition with the recovery CD Toshiba delivered!
You must use the recovery expert mode.
So to change the size of the partition in the ghost window. For example, from 40 GB to 30 GB. In this case, 10 GB remains free.

After the installation of the OS, it must go into disk management in the computer management. (right-click on the icon my computer Manage)
Here, you only have to make the visible 10 GB partition.

Another possibility is to use a Partitions Magic 8. This tool allows you to create and manage partitions after installing Windows

  • Cannot install display driver for Vista on Satellite M70-159

I made an update to Windows Vista business and I downloaded the ATI Vista "8.31.100.3.2" display driver, but the driver failed to install.

The past even when I tried to update the windows driver by default through «properties--> update driver...» ».

    No idea why this happen?

    Hello

I have the Satellite M70-159 with ATI MOBILITY RADEON X 700. I know that it sounds stupid, but I didn't install any graphics driver. I installed Vista Ultimate to test and each hardware component is recognized correctly except sound and SD card reader. Audio driver found somewhere on the net, and SD card reader is not so important to me.

  • Satellite M70-151 - not possible to install new HDD

    Hello

I have a problem with my Satellite M70-151. bunch of old hard drive (100 GB Hitachi) reached the Windows XP screen then just ends with a blue screen a turn off laptop, immediately. I had to restore my data with an application file-rescue of another PC. It was not possible to start from old hard drive yet.

Then I bought a Western Digital SATA II 250 GB hard drive that put my Windows XP CD in DVD player installed and tried to start. The laptop turns off as soon as the laptop computer tried to access the HARD disk.
Thought, it was question of SATA II disk and tried a Samsung 160 GB Sata I - same result.

    BIOS recognizes the correct drives.

If I try to boot from old hard drive, it shows the issue I mentioned first, but as before it reaches the Windows XP Boot screen before moving on to the blue screen before turning off the laptop. So start goes further than the boot with new hard drives

The Windows XP CD I used is not the restore CD that came with the laptop, but a normal license.

The heat is not a problem, I cleaned the CPU fan there is enough space to breathe the cold air mobile, the temperature is ok.

    * My questions are: *.

Is there any special application running on laptops satellite, like special software of Toshiba, perhaps Backup, should I be aware of?
What I need to preformat the hard drive, Toshiba-Hardware will recognize the hard drive?

It would be great to get help on this issue, because I'm out of ideas. Thanks in advance!

    André

    Hello Andrew

This behavior is very strange. I have some old Satellite M70-159 with 100 GB HARD drive. I also tested how it will work with a 250 GB HARD drive and all is well.
On two drives, I have installed WXP using the Toshiba recovery image.

I answer your two questions No. to install Windows XP Home edition on this model of laptop you don't need some special Toshiba application or a piece of software.
HDD should be recognized correctly by the BIOS and the Windows XP Home edition installation procedure should work well.
What you can try is to set the BIOS to the default settings and try again.

The strange thing for me is that judgment. The blue screen tells me that there may be some serious hardware problem, the HARD drive controller might be. It's really not easy to say with certainty what can be the problem.

  • Satellite M70 - CLI - cannot install display or SM Bus controller driver

    Hello

I have a Satellite M70 - cli PSM73C-CL100E and I got a new hard drive and loaded Windows xp. I went on the Toshiba site and downloaded and installed all the drivers. I have no problem with the wifi atheros, the sound, modem or chipset drivers. I also updated the bios v2.10 all successfully.

The problem is with the video card. I used huntersoft program and know that the chipset is an ATI. He also says it's an ATIradeon xpress 200 m with 128 MB DDR shared video. When I try and install the ATI driver it says Setup could not complete the installation. Try to configure your graphics card with the standard vga driver.

I spent hours on the net. I tried the ATI L30 XP driver and it does the same thing. I tried the driver ATI radeon xpress 200 m and it says not found material. I don't have the original CD I know he works as the old drive worked fine. Unfortunately, I wiped as well to put in a laptop more old. I should have gotten the drivers out of it. :(

Does anyone have an idea? It drives me crazy! Thanks for any help. Marilyn

    Hi mjmx4,

How have you tried to install the display driver?

Normally, you can install the driver (screen) If you run the setup.exe file that comes with the driver package. Follow the instructions on the screen thanks to the installation of the driver, the driver will be installed.

Alternative you can install the driver if you go to Device Manager and right click on the graphics card. Choose update driver and use advanced installation where you can choose the directory and the driver yourself.

By the way: before starting with the installation of the driver, you must install Service Pack 3 for XP.

I recently managed to move from Xp Home Xp pro Ed. Since then, I'm trying to re - install my Symantec Norton AntiVirus 2003 but I get the following message is displayed:
"The wizzard was interrupted until the Symantec Antivirus client could be completely installed. Your system has not changed. To complete installation at another time, please run the Setup again. »

It's been two days now that I run the installation program again, I get the same message.
    Can anyone help?

All I can add is that the laptop came with a norton antivirus 2005 valid for 3 months. After 3 months, under Xp home Ed, I have successfully installed my Norton 2003. Now, after having changed the OS to Xp pro, I am unable to complete the installation of Norton 2003.

    Help please.

    Hello

I studied in the internet and found information that Symantec Norton 2003 version does not support the SP2 of Windows XP Pro.
If you want you can also try to contact Symantec support to confirm this information.

PS: Try to install the Norton System works before installing SP2. Maybe it works.

  • Touch and the launch cannot be installed on the Satellite M70 - 192

    (Sorry for the bad English)
I had uninstalled Touch and launch program because it did not work properly. When I tried to install another time readings that it can be installed only on Toshiba computer.

    How to fix that?

    Hello

It will be interesting to know what version you are trying to install. Perhaps, you try to install the version for another model of Satellite. As far as I know there are two models of Satellite M70. The difference is the number of sub.model (PSM70E and PSM71E). Make sure you use the right side of a PSM71E.

  • How to install the new HDD on Satellite M70?

Hi, I have a Satellite M70 PSM75E, I want to move a hard drive of 250 GB, can give me instructions how to install and what type of disk HARD inface do I go?
    Your help is appreciated

    Hello

It is difficult to say if the 500 GB will work in this good old classic... I think that 250GB should be sufficient for all applications you want to install.

However, you could try the 500 GB. If it doesn t work you can bring back to your computer store or you can test it directly in the shop. Then you'll know if it of an option for you or not. Be creative! ;)

  • How to install Sata on Satellite M70-340?

My version of WinXP Pro does not see the HARD drive in sata mode. I read on the chipset and supports sata and my HARD drive. How can I install I do windows see my HARD drive in SATA mode. thanx

    Hello

I'm a little confused about your ad.
As far as I know the Satellite M70-340 has a SATA HDD and it should works with this mode. If you use the Toshiba Recovery CD so the AHCI (Intel SATA AHCI Controller) V5.1.0.1022 should pre-installed with the operating system.
You must also install the Chipset (Intel ICH6M) V7.1.0.1014 first.

    Hello

I m not a Satellite M70 owner but as far as I know this laptop comes with SATA drives. But you can check yourself if you remove the HARD drive and then you can see which interface it is.
If you have a SATA interface, you can buy each HARD drive you want. On interface SATA there is no capacity limit.

Normally you can install Windows 7 but it s not released yet. Theoretically, it should work but I'll wait until it's official market.

With a new HARD disk, you use the Toshiba recovery disc too. Why not? It s not dependent on the HARD drive you have so just boot make up and follow the instructions on the screen.

If you have any other questions, please let us know. :)

    Hello!

    > an express card slot.
Do you know what is an express card slot?
    I think you mix something

The express card slot is designed for express cards. It s similar to PCMCIA cards.
You won't find a graphics card that is designed for the express card slot. For those sites you can buy for example USB expansion cards.

    Check your user manual!
You will find more details on this machine slot.
