Satellite P10 and so-DIMM DDR400 problem

(First, hi to all and sorry for my BAD English: o)

Given that I have install my new memory DDR400 (Corsair Value Select VS512DS400 x 2) in My P10, problems occur: error in windows, Crc in files compressed, etc... I try with my old DDR333: no problem.

Give it a try with a friend of mine who have the same P10:
exactly the same error

I do some research, and I found a possibility:
I see in the technical data sheet for DDR400 (and all the DDR400 SO-DIMMs are like that) the required voltage is 2.6 volts.
And for the DDR333 needs only 2.5 Volts.

I want to know (or confirm) if DAL00 motherboard which is inserted into the series P10 (I use 1.90v bios) can proceed to 2, 6V?

It was very strange because I use CPU - Z to determine how fast is used for DDR400, bios seems to determine the correct speed for DDR400 (200 Mhz) and pass the FSB ratio to 1:1, Arf! good for this point! : o).

The first time I saw the DDR333 memory in the Toshiba
with a 3.0HT processor (which use bus 800 Mhz Quadpumped)
I was very surprised! : o).
Eheh, Toshiba engineers maybe had same problems when
they used the DDR400 on it?

Can you help me for this technical problem?

Best regards, Ray

Hi Ray

In your case is problem BIOS don't recognize new RAM module. It's very nice that you are interesting about this problem, but this kind of question can be answered simply by an engineer or expert, and it will not solve your problem.
Always is it that you need RAM DDR SODIMM (333 MHZ). The best solution for your unit is to buy one of these three modules:

256 MB (PA3311U - 1 M 25)
512 MB (PA3312U - 1 M 51)
1024MB (PA3313U-1M1G).

Good luck!

  • Satellite P10-304 - update Windows 7 problem

I have a Satellite P10 304 to 2003 which has Windows XP, but I need to update for obvious reasons. I bought a copy of Windows 7 (32 bit) and installed without any installation problem, however I can't update Windows.

I reinstalled, deleted the hard drive and reinstalled again. Tried the stop and start the Windows Update utility.
    Downloaded the stand-alone Windows Update.

Updated the BIOS to V2.0 and downloaded the Toshiba Service Station application (who says no update is necessary).
    All this without success.

My hopes were raised when I saw that the Station Service for Windows 7 32 bit software was available for the P10 304 but I am now at a loss.

Anyone know if this laptop can be upgraded to Windows 7 and how to get updates of work?

    Help is welcome.

    Peter

I'm sure that installation of Windows 7 update problems are not specific to Toshiba problems even if you use the Toshiba laptop.

From my point of few, you should check the Microsoft support pages to find the solution.
    For example this:
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/w...#1TC=Windows-7

Just a tip: I had some problems in the past to install updates because of the antirust software. He locked the installation of some essential updates and after you disable temporal, updates could be installed...
Missing Service Packs might concern the single installation of patches.

  • Satellite P10 and the graphics card driver updates

    Hello

I'm a newbie on this forum, but let's get to the point. I have Toshiba Satellite PSP10E (PIV 2.8HT 800 Mhz, 1 GB of system memory bus speed and UNFORTUNATELY a GF 5600go...).
My (not only) problem is that Toshiba use engineering video BIOS version and it does not have the latest drivers for the geforce series. The most up-to-date driver that really works is the last of the series 5xxx... so you can see that none of the newer games can be run with a performance on this map... because older drivers don't use really not (available at directx9.0) 2.0 pixel shader. It would not be a problem if Toshiba would give an update not only BIOS system, but also the bios video (new system BIOS contains the same old video bios.

I really had to settle for playing games that are 2 years old? First of all pay a lot of money for a witch of the computer has enough power to run some new but don't care support Toshiba for this...

I was the proud owner of a Toshiba laptop, but I'm not! If I had to choose again, I decide to buy computer Toshiba...
My Question: is that Toshiba will do something with this problem? Someone knows how to help? Thanks for any help (I have not found such a problem in this forum, sorry if it has been the front sign) and sorry for my English (hope that's understandable)
    My video Bios is: v4.31.20.56.A6

    Hello

We know that you can not install the drivers downloaded from the download page of GF because of the restriction of material. It's not only the Toshiba models, but also on other producers of portable and if you visit the download page of graphics cards, it is always recommended to download drivers designed by the manufacturers of portable.

I think that nobody can explain why it's because I'm sure you know the reason. The performance of the graphics card will always be a topic of discussion and you will always want to have maximum performance for games with laptop, although performance may not be the same as on the desktop where you have the possibility to change the graphics card and install the latest drivers.

Because of this, I think that it is really unnecessary to some turbulence here. Believe me, you can buy what you want, but after two or three years you will be always satisfied with something.

In any case, good luck and enjoy life!

  • Satellite A100 and USB audio device problem

I bought "toneport ux2 line6" and it does not work with my computer laptop (dual core 1, 73GHz, 1 GB ram, Windows Vista).

The problem is when I listen to music through this device, it looks I would look scratched CD, from time to time that there is a short interruption. The same thing happens when I'm with gearbox (software that allow you to play the electric guitar using audio device). I checked everything, including change Windows XP OS.

I have the latest drivers for the port of your (compatible vista), I downloaded 3.5 mechanism, only toneport is connected to my computer, I have disabled all installations flashing in vista, power management is scheduled for high performance. I disable the sound card. I checked my cell phone with line6 monkey and it says everything is ok. I checked the audio device on my friend's Office, and it works well.

    I desperately need help.

    Hello Marcin

In my opinion, you must be sure your laptop running fine and according to your assignment I do not here no problem.

So in your case you have problem with some additional equipment or third party software. Am I wrong? If there is a problem I see no reason to seek the solution with Toshiba. You should contact the manufacturers of all the devices and software that you use. They should have enough experience with own products and they should offer good support in troubleshooting.

  • Satellite P10 and Netgear USB dongle use

    Hello

NETGEAR insist it is a Toshiba system problem...

  • Satellite A205 and 4 GB RAM problem

Well today I got a new stick of Ram DDR2 2 GB, bringing my total Ram to 4 GB. However, my computer recognizes 3 (3070 MB) to be exact. I am running Windows 7 64 bit. I'm guessing that the issue has to do with * remapping memory in the Bios is enabled * however I do not have this option. I tried to download the latest version of the Bios off toshiba.com, version 5.20, well, it won't work, I tried to do it through Windows, as well as on a CD, I get the error messages.

So I was wondering should I get the BIOS also? If yes where? My Bios is Phoenix TrustedCore.

    > However my computer does recognize that the 3 (3070 MB) to be exact.
In the BIOS settings or directed by operating system preinstalled?
    > I am running Windows 7 64 bit. I'm guessing
Can you please check this and remember what version of the OS is preinstalled on your system?
    > I should get the BIOS also? If yes where?
Do not play with such things. Use BIOS Toshiba support only page.

  • Satellite P10: Discharge battery problem

Hi all. I just bought a P10 and I have a problem with the battery discharges while remaining on the current after being fully charged.

Basically when the battery discharge the machine stops and cannot be restarted successfully until about 1/2 hour of charging.

Surely if the machine is on the battery supply should be go to the opereation of the machine? Virtually all other laptops are not disturbed by the battery then on the sector.

Is there a utility that disables this problem because there is nothing in the bios that is available to select. (BTW, I HAVE ISNTALLED LATEST VERSION OF THE BIOS).
I also blew the hole thing with compressed air just in case there was a problem of overheating.

    Am Running XP Pro 512 MB DDR333Mhz 30Gig HDD 2.6 GHz P4

All this makes me very frustrated and am really starting to regret to have bought the laptop.
I've been a professional for 10 years now and have never experienced such a problem.

Any help, advice, links or the fixes would be greatly appreciated so thank you very much in advance.

    Hello

    It s very strange.
As far as I know the Toshiba power saver control power and cooling procedures.
If the AC adapter is plugged in, the energy saver uses a profile of full power.
If the laptop works with battery energy saver must use another profile with different parameters. You should check what profile is used and the settings for this profile.
Check the CPU and cooling module parameters.

But if this doesn't help then it could be something wrong with the hardware. But it's not easy to say what the problem is. In this case, you must contact the after-sales Service of Toshiba partner. It can start diagnostic tests.

  • Satellite P10 - after installing XP, the SD card reader does not exist

I formatted my Satellite P10 and complete nine with XP SP1 installed. Since that time the integrated SD card reader no longer exists in the system (when I insert an SD card it doesn't work). Is this a problem with a driver or what can be the problem?

Before formatting, it's normal. Pleas explain easily. I'm not a professional user.

    Hello

What drive did you use to reinstall Windows XP? If you use the Toshiba recovery disc are all drivers and pre-installed tools because the disc contains a picture of the factory settings.

In your case, I would try to install the latest driver for the European driver of Toshiba download page card reader. Maybe it's just a driver problem you s wrote:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > download drivers

I m wondering that you only use the SP1 for XP. SP2 or SP3 new contains a lot of important security updates. I recommend you to update your XP version.

    Welcome them

  • Satellite P10: The drive will not burn DVD

    Hope someone can help me,

I have a Toshiba Satellite P10 and have just received some photos software, burning
But my drive will not burn DVD, I try with discs DVD - RW which must work my laptop.
What is happening is when it comes of the burn on the part of the disk of the process he starts, but it fails.

I tried to burn it with Nero, but even if I burn OK on any CD discs with this software it will not work on DVD discs. It's really annoying because when the burning process it fails so that it makes the DVD - RW disc seem curupt and then my drive has problems mounting the disc to try a deletion once more.

I have the Nero log file failed
Done if it's any help to anyone.

    A big thank you Michael.

    Hello

What about different DVD media? Have you tested the media DVD-R or DVD + R common?
Have you tried different brands of DVD?
I can't give you a properly answer why the drive can't burn your DVD - RW, but to my knowledge not every media is supported by the player.
So I think you should check different DVDs.

  • Satellite P10 554: what does "removable devices" on average of start menu?

    Hello

My DVD burner does not work, so I have no chance to install Windows XP from the recovery disks. I tried to boot from external DVD writer, but the device is not recognized. Similarly a bootable USB key.

That means Toshiba with "removable devices"? Or I made a mistake?

    Thanks for your replies.

    Best regards
    Frank

As far as I know Satellite P10 and P20 have removable optical drive. You can remove the CD/DVD drive and put it inside the floppy drive and use it as first boot device.

I checked the 'advanced system info-error log' and the report there is 'the device, \Device\CdRom0, has a bad block'; I don't know what that means.

    Cheers.

    Hello

In my opinion, it's probably caused by software. In my opinion, you should remove all burning software and verify all burning functions with windows option. After deleting some software, it can happen that, in the registry editor it is a lot of waste that will not be removed completely.

In any case, delete all the burning software, and you can also try to remove the device from Device Manager DVD. Restart the laptop and DVD should be detected and installed correctly. Try using the option of engraving of Windows and if there is still problem writing once again please.
