Satellite P100-202 - screen freezes

Hi, first I would like to say that I think that it is a recurring problem of Toshiba, because I have a friend who has exactly the same thing happens to the Toshiba PC. Here's how it goes:

While working on the laptop / PC, all of a sudden the screen will freeze, although everything that happens again and first if I wavered the screen a bit it would start working again. Sometimes, it was necessary to apply pressure to the center of the screen for this suddenly. Now he's got one so bad that I have to constantly put pressure on the upper left of the screen so that it can continue to operate (exactly the same on my friend's PC).

I feel that soon even that won't work. If I leave the screen when it freezes, it fog slowly and finally grey with some colored vertical lines. Yet once, it snaps back immediately when I press top left corner of the screen (I have to continue to support on in the contrary case, it freezes again). No one knows what causes this common malfunction of Toshiba and how to fix it?

I would be grateful responses until my laptop works most completely! '~'

Hi trrttrry,

This question really strange s but I never read this topic on Satellite P100 here in the forum so I think that s an individual case.

Regarding your description, it could be loose cable connection or display malfunction itself. You tried an external monitor?

In my opinion you should ask a technician for laptop help. They can check the cable connection and order a new one if it of really necessary.

  • Satellite P100-202: problems with screen again

Hi all! I write about a problem with the screen of my Toshiba P100-202. I recently posted in the thread "Satellite P100-202: screen will freeze" and my current problem is actually quite similar to what is explained in the thread "Satellite P100-119: display no longer works. Here is my story, hoping someone can help me avoid having to send the computer to a technician:
I decided after my previous problem, get my screen replaced. Everything seemed fine, except on the occaisonal instances, especially when I was using the "Internet Explorer" program, in which the screen sort of will re-start, IE. everything went black for a few seconds (music, etc. However would continue) then (boom) everything should reappear, sometimes in ultra - zoom for a second or two. The computer (OS = Windows 7) would report "problem with NVIDIA graphics driver", and then the operations would continue normally. This happened several times, but not often, and I was not too worried about it. Then, a few days before, I was using the latest release candidate of Internet Explorer 9 and the screen is blacked out and my music has continued and I thought 'OK, no problem' and then after a few seconds, and then the music stopped (and I thought ' uh - oh ') and then the blue screen of death.
OK, don't panic, reboot, but of course there is no word of welcome, no nothing, just a blank screen, with the backlight still works created a worrisome greyish tint. And then suddenly the mouse appears, followed by the entire screen, so I unwisely rejected the incident. Ten minutes later, same thing and this time, not even the blue screen of death as consolement, just gray nothingness.
A few days of rest, a dusting of battery, but no, even if I think the operating system works very well (caps lock light work and little purrs and snoring occur as usual), he has no doubt about the fact that the screen is not working.
PS Sorry if my message is too long, and no, I don't have access to an external display!

While I'm at it, someone is able to explain why a battery lasting 25 minutes can take several hours or even days to recharge?

Unfortunately I can not offer a final solution or diagnosis, but I think you should test the functionality with the original recovery image (recovery DVD) you have with your laptop.

Install the OS using this disc and test functionality. If the same thing happen over and over again there must be a hardware problem.
If you need to bring the laptop to the service ask first how much cost repair. Maybe it will be too expensive and you can buy the new laptop instead of paying lots of money to repair this old model of laptop.

  • Satellite M70 164 - screen freezes and goes black, overheating

    Hello world! :)

Recently my Satellite m70-164 started to freeze after only a few minutes of work. The picture on the screen freezes, and a few seconds later, it becomes completely black.
The computer doesn't even have time to warm up, and it's not stop... It's just the screen that freezes and becomes so black. I have to reset the computer by pressing the power button. (I write from another computer).

I noticed that working time reduced whenever I have reset the computer and after some time it freezes even though I am in the BIOS settings, so I don't think it's an OS problem.
Even if the computer does not have time to warm up, this suggests it might be a heat problem.
So I tried pointing a fan this is low (a big, like the ones we use in the summer), and it works without problem!

With the fan facing these, I reinstalled Windows - so no Virus.
Laptop fan * not * continue to operate as it is overheating.
The fan runs and it is not clogged as I've cleaned.

So if anyone has the same problem, or ideas, please respond!
    (And sorry for my English)
    Thanks in advance! : D

    Hey Buddy,

I agree with you. In this case, even in the BIOS, that it has nothing to do with Windows or a Virus. In this case, it seems to be a hardware malfunction

But before contacting an authorized service provider to diagnose what part is the cause, clean your laptop using a jet of compressed air. This should be done from time to time (every 4 months) and, therefore, it of not necessary to disassemble the laptop.

    Check this box!

  • Satellite P100-160 - screen Vertical burst

Satellite P100-160 my son has developed a fault on the screen that no one seems able to identify the cause of.

If you imagine that the screen is divided into six equal vertical columns about 3 inches wide, the third vibrates from top down so that the image is blurry. Sometimes it stops after an hour - but recently it just keeps going. The other "columns" are very good. What is the screen itself (easily replaceable), or the video card (on the motherboard) or another component such as the inverter?
For now I'm not sure if scrap it and buy a new one or replace the screen.

    Any ideas?

    Hey,.

I think that the best way to address this issue must connect to an external monitor to your laptop. If you notice the same problem on external monitor the problem is related to the graphics card itself. If the display is faulty and must be replaced.

Then connect an external monitor and check what's happening!

  • Satellite P100 - the screen goes black

    Hello

I have a Satellite P100 and randomly, the screen goes black but the system continues to operate. I downloaded the latest drivers from toshiba, all power options the maximum support, run ccleaner and driver Sweeper to remove the old entries driver, re-installed the login screen of the mobo and nothing seems to work.

The screen goes black sometimes when using windows but STILL turns black as soon as the ramps of gpu for example of playing a video or comparative analysis of the graphics card.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Model: Toshiba Satellite P100-PSPA6A-02NO21
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo T7200@2GHz
GPU: Nvidia Quadro nvs 510 m
    Chipset: Intel i945PM
    HARD drive: Fujitsu 148GB
    RAM 2 GB
Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 operating system

    Hey,.

    > ALWAYS goes black as soon as the ramps of gpu for example of playing a video or comparative analysis of the graphics card.
This means that the graphics card is defective

Theoretically, it could be an overheating problem too. Higher time can also cause a black screen. You should try everything that is possible to clean your laptop using the jet of compressed air to blow the dust from the cooling fans.

If it doesn t help it seems to be a hardware malfunction but seriously a point would be interesting: have you noticed the same thing with preinstalled OS (Vista) Toshiba?

  • Satellite M70-169: screen freezes and meshes + mouse freezes

    Hello
Hope you can help. So far, I'm impressed by my toshiba satellite m70-169.

He has recently developed an intermittent fault: when the tilt of the screen the effect of light mesh on it and the screen freezes. The mouse also hangs at this point.

If I tilt the screen one way or the other I can get it to work properly. A slighy inclination of the screen can cause the screen to freeze again. The problem is getting worse, however.

The machine has never been dropped or struck, but was taken by one of the screen when it is open.

I disassembled the strainer and push gently on various points and cables but nothing in this area suggests a loose connection or a weak point. So I believe the problem is in the essence. I tried to open this up but it fails because I didn't force anything.

Question 1: any suggestions on the problem and possible solutions?
Question 2: advice like how to open the main part, so I can check any loose cables, connectors or broken bones?
    Question 3: patterns for disassembly?

Even once - I hope you can help - thanks in advance...

    John

    Hi John

The above user is right. It s too risky to disassemble the laptop without having any experience with laptops.
It is why I always recommend taking to a technician.

But if you want, you can have a look here:
    http://www.irisvista.com/tech/laptops/ToshibaM55/laptop_LCD_screen_removal.htm

It s a site on satellite M55 and withdrawal screen.
But once again; You can do everything BUT only at your own risk! ;)

  • Play NFS on the Satellite X 200 screen freezes shortly every 2-3 seconds

    I recently bought a Satellite X 200 with 2 x GeForce 8600 M GT in SLI.
Due to the power of 2 graphics cards, I thought about playing games would be no problem.
    But it's not...

I just bought Need For Speed - Pro Street and installed on my computer. I can't play the game, without the screen freezes shortly every 2-3 seconds.
It seems that there is not enough power visually, but with 2 x 8600M GT in SLI? Will not take the game run smooth without delay?
I have all the settings at low temperature and/or offshore, trying to see if that would solve the problem - but no.

The menus and the intro works very well, but when driving cars in the game, it starts to lag.
I've updated to latest drivers, but which did not help either.
My OS is Windows Vista Home Premium, and my memory is 2 GB.

    A problem like this?

Hmm I think that it of because of Vista.
I read a lot of articles on issues such games on Vista OS.

I found some Vista patches and patches but I really not 100% sure if this QFE have reason.

    Hello

Remove the battery and unplug the AC adapter.
Wait a few minutes (40 - 60 min) and reconnect the two parts.
Then try to restart the computer and press F2 for the BIOS.

  • Satellite P100: Black screen but I can hear the sound of Windows OS

    Hello

I have a problem on my Satellite p100.
I broke the screen or something!

When I start the computer I press the Start button and the laptop start normal. But the fact is that the computer starts but not the screen.

The screen is not from, but the computer does!
The screen is black, but I've heard say that im in windows beacause of the sound beginning...
    I didn't break the screen,

Can Some1 help me? Please, I beg you!

Maybe you accidentally switched the display on an external monitor?  :|
Have you tried to use the FN + F5 key combination to return the display on the laptop?

In addition, I would recommend linking the external monitor to the laptop to check if something appears on a second external display.

If this does not help with this strange problem I would recommend contacting the ASP in your country. Maybe, display works really bad and a very small part or whole LCD screen needs to be replaced

    Good luck

  • Satellite P100 - white screen on startup: No. BIOS!

    Hello

I have a Satellite P100-286 (PSPAGE) I bought last year, and due to an unsuccessful attempt to update of the BIOS under Windows Vista, the laptop has more a BIOS. Is there anyway to Flash without sending the laptop somewhere?

    See you soon,.
    Andreas

I doubt it. Once a BIOS is damaged, its cant boot or anything like that, so you can't reflash the BIOS. I guess that the motherboard would need replacement.

  • Satellite M55-S135 screen freezes and becomes white.

Recently, my computer screen freezes until I have the touch. I touch the screen I use the computer or the screen turns white and everything I type does not register on the screen. I see not the entrance until I get the screen and hold it pressed. Sometimes even if I hold the screen I can not imput to register, it will just white. Anyone know why this happens.

This happens when the displaycable is not correctly connected to the control that is located at the top of the LCD screen. I highly recommend to send your machine to a service partner in your country and let check this problem. It could also be a malfunction of the material of the screen, but not for sure.

If you want to contact the nearest service partner in your country, click here--> "http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/" then then just go to-> Support downloads & -> support-> repairs maintenance home page &-> find the nearest authorized Service provider

    Hi guy,

I think that it of difficult to say exactly why the screen / the game freezes for a few seconds during the game. There are too many different factors that can affect the game, laptop performance.

For example the GPU performance can be clocked down due to a higher temperature or memory might be full and the data has be moved to the HARD disk using the paging file.
Maybe the CPU's load a few seconds due to various processes that run in the background (anti-virus, etc.)
Maybe its GPU driver problem. Who knows

I think first of all you must disable all security and antivirus software that could run while you play a game. But do this only while game.
You can also try to reduce the graphic details in the game settings.

  • Re: Satellite A660-149 screen freezes

    Hello world

I just bought a new A660-149 Satellite with i5, 4 GB, and 500 GB HDD last week that does not work properly. Is when I'm on the internet or listening to music, the screen and the sound crashes completely. I need to turn off the PC all the time. I don't know why this is happening because I've not yet installed all the programs, I do not have games and I did a scan with antivirus on a case where. He said: no virus found so I wonder if anyone had similar problems before.

    Any advice would be great.

    Thank you very much.
    Michael

    Hello

Maybe it s only a software problem try to retrieve the device (install the OS by using HARD disk recovery) and again test the functionality of the laptop

If the laptop freezes again even by using a new OS installed, then you should try to update the display driver.

PS: Problem of memory could lead to these symptoms of portable, so if anything would help, the RAM (memory) should be checked.

    Good luck

  • Satellite A60 - white screen Freeze on Boot up

    Hello

My laptop Satellite A60-106 has developed a problem starting up upward. It just hangs on a white to the startup screen until I see all the graphics. It seems that it can access the CD/DVD drive, but any attempt to start with a recovery disk fails in the same white screen and it freezes. I tried the advice from manufacturers that power with the F12 key and another suggestion on the
CD hold down the C key while powering brings the same result.

Nothing other than the white screen. I tried F8 to see if I can get into safe mode but it will not exceed the original deaf of readers and then silence. I can't imagine a way to get it to allow me to pass. I'm sure you can however? I'd be happy to format and reload but if I can't access the drive so how can I do this?

I wanted to increase the RAM, but all the suggestions in the book of the hand do not relate to the layout of my laptop. The small Access window on the bottom of the laptop will not provide sufficient access to the RAM? Poking around the RAM could have induced this white screen lock?

    Thank you
    Charlie

    Hello, Charlie

To be honest you have serious problem and I really don't believe that you can solve alone. It is not easy to say with certainty why white screen occurs at startup to the top. In my opinion there are several reasons responsible for this.
    -Display (electronic LCD screen, cable)
-as far as I know white screen occurs if FL dimmer makes background light but there is no signal display can be defects on the motherboard and there is no video signal

The best thing you can do is to contact the authorized service provider. They check your laptop. They have special tools and there is no problem to know why this happen.

    Good bye
