Satellite P100 - v4.70 update BIOS stuttering in games

Hello

I had a problem with the Bios v4.70. Since I flashed my BIOS I had regular stops in my games. Looks like the game crashes every 3 seconds for a short time. I got the BIOS v4.50 before without problem. I would use v4.70 because since the new version of my graphics cooling fan card responses to temperature again.

With recent versions, that I had the problem the fan worked only when I pressed the temperature of the gfx over 104 ° C. seems there is an emergency program that starts the fan and keep running at a constant average level. When I turn on my pc, I have to repeat this procedure. It's pretty boring, so I was very happy to see that the new BIOS has solved my problem. Maybe someone knows a solution.
I know there are already discussions with stuttering in the game, but the solutions won t fit for me.

I use a pilot updated the gfx, because Toshiba release new ones.
My system is a Toshiba Satellite P100-354
Processor: 2 GHz dual core
gfx: geforce go 7900gs 512 MB with forceware v185.20
OS: Win Vista 32 bit Ultimate

> I use a pilot updated the gfx because Toshiba release new ones.
I think that's the reason. No Toshiba drivers don t have overheating protection and therefore the graphics card may be damaged. It s recommended to use the drivers from the site of Toshiba, because with these drivers, you are on the safe side.

Check the Toshiba website for the latest drivers and I think that the problem will be solved:

    Hello

Hmmm what to say. Sounds not good and in my opinion, looks like you have successfully updated the laptop computer with a bad BIOS or something went wrong during the BIOS update process
Are you sure you used the right BIOS of 110%?

It seems that you will not be able to fix this problem yourself, without any additional help from the laptop technician.
In most cases, the BIOS has to be flashed again on the particular way

For me it s clear, you will need to contact the ASP to get rid of this problem

Now, my fan always runs at maximum, it never ideals.
It's always the same, even when I choose its configuration. I use the same drivers as before, just only update the bios.

I tested with the latest divers chipset intel and Nvidia alsow driver and it's always the same.
So my concludes is the BIOS, is Toshiba knows something about this problem and work on a newer bios?

    Sincere friendships Ishmael

Everything indicates that the BIOS 4.10 is the problem common to the always high speed of the graphic fan even when the PC is in sleep mode.

I want to see action as a new revision of the BIOS 4.10!

  • Satellite L30 - 11 d: update Bios to boot from USB

    I have a Satellite L30 11(d) bought Sept 07.

I'm interested in trying to boot from USB, at the present time, my bios does not.
I am looking to update my bios. There is a updated bios updated for me to download (3.10WIN).

    I have 3 questions:

    (1) 3.10WIN allows to boot from USB?

    (2) is 3.10WIN related to the use of MS Vista? (Looking at this article , it seems that the new phoenix / toshiba bios only allows panoramas...?)

    (3) how to settle?

(with ubuntu 7.10 works well... aside from the sound)

    As to the question;

    (1) No, it is not possible to boot from a memory stick USB HDD or USM

    (2) each BIOS for each series of Toshiba notebook is different! Please don t no matter what other laptop computer BIOS or fixed PCs. Satellite L30 - 10 d belongs to the series of the 3,10 and PSL33E BIOS is OS independent. If your laptop comes with XP then the BIOS supports XP completely. Of course, you can try to install Vista but it is possible that some features of the laptop as FN keys will be does not work

    (3) the BIOS should always be done in the Windows operating system. As you can see on the page of the Toshiba driver the BIOS version is called 3.10Win - version

  • Satellite P100: BSOD nv4_disp infinite loop playing a game

    Hello

I hope you can see my details of my profiling system, but in case you can't, here are the basic details:

    Satellite P100-113; 2x2.0GHz; 2 GB of memory; XP Pro SP3. Go 7600 256 MB - factory core/mem speed 350 / 400 MHz - no overclocking.
Out of warranty: purchased as a plant-reclamation in 2006. No problem at all until this - great machine!

I tried for 2 weeks to resolve the formidable 'in nv4_disp infinite loop' blue screen of the problem of death, which occurs when playing company of Heroes Opposing Fronts (COHOF). Original COH has always run without any problem.

I think I tracked down what is happening. Using RivaTuner, I took a log of data GPU, both in the general use of Windows and by practicing a COHOF game. I had just downloaded a "fix" claimed this infinite loop problem; referenced in the nvidia forum.
I think it was the only reason that the game did not plant this time, so that I could look at the newspaper. But this has not yet resolved the problem.

What is clear, according to the journal of Riva, it's the GPU speeds are usually 0/0 on Windows. Then, every few minutes, he crawls up to something like 198/135, for only 10-20 seconds and then again. This, in my opinion, has always happened, because it is accompanied by a rapid acceleration of the fan and a "sigh" to air for a few seconds. The machine has always done since I bought it, and it is not a problem in normal conditions (i.e. not game) use.

But here'w what happened in the game. After playing about 30 minutes (I noted earlier), the game suddenly stuttered horribly, so I thought it might be breaking. FPS increased from typical of 30-40 something like 0.5 to 2 FPS. And this continued for another 15 minutes (I went to play, with gritted teeth, in order to obtain good log data).

Looking at the newspaper of Riva, what happened at that time was one of these speed GPU rampdowns: down 351/398 expected 198/198 - just for about 15 seconds, then go back to the top to 351/398. Given that the "infinite loop" error includes a description "device driver entered an infinite loop waiting for the material to answer", I am fairly certain that it is the cause of the infinite loop BSOD: If the GPU suddenly decides to run at reduced speed in half, under heavy load (COHOF has often been described as the ultimate stress-test system) , you expect this kind of error occurs. I suspect that this is the point to which I would have had a crash "infinite loop" - but perhaps the 'fix', I downloaded caught the ball and prevented the usual total crash.

Temperature: absolutely perfect. I use a Zalman cooler under the machine. Riva reports temperatures GPU 51 c (idle), maxing out at a constant C 66-68 without crampons (load, COHOF). So, my driver unless (I tried 84.4 - later, Toshiba or 91.33, 156.13, 164 something laptopvideo2go.com) is a misinterpretation of the temperature data and imagine that the card needs to be rested (because the driver thinks, it's hitting the ceiling of 115 HP.), is not an overheating problem.

The fact that go up and down this rise has always happen, even with the original drivers installed at the factory from Toshiba (the regular intermittent fan 'sighs') makes me think that this is part of Toshiba design for integration of the Go 7600 in this machine. Perhaps something of the power management, or to extend the life of the chip. (I have all the settings of power-mgmt software I can find the value "grass of the battery, give me performance", since I usually use the machine plugged).

Now, it of very well under Windows, does not cause problems. But he won't. The GPU is ramping down, without apparent reason, while COHOF is throwing a huge workload on it.

    Issues related to the:
    1. How can I disable this behavior ramp - at least temporarily to play COHOF? I've never heard of a GPU accelerates its speed goes up and down depending on the load, so I doubt it's problem of nVidia.
    2. can I get an updated driver for this machine? The most recent is 84.4.0. Of course, it is possible to download drivers from laptopvideo2go.com modded-, but I suspect that these pilots to leave out some specific Toshiba 'magical' that manages the specific details of this card in this machine. (p. ex. or SpeedFan and Riva can detect any fans in my system, which suggests that Toshiba took control of the fan "under the hood" somehow).
    3. where can I get an update BIOS/firmware for the Go 7600? You can find anything on the net, apart from that!

Looks like I need to take this with a hardcore of Toshiba tech (I don't know if Toshiba supports log on this forum); But if someone reads this and has a time "click - I know that this", please post some ideas as to what I can do.

    Hey Buddy

It seems that this Toshiba forum is only a user forum, and it seems there are only Toshiba users here and not technicians.

In any case if I understand you problem described in your long ad, the graphic issue appears only this specific game (company of Heroes Opposing Fronts).

In my opinion, the graphics driver is not fully compatible with this game or your game does not support the nVidia Driver
So it s not a problem with the laptops hardware, but compatibility issues between the two parties game<->graphics driver software

I think a graphics driver update (if available) might help.

Here are my responses regarding the points:

    (1) as I said above, I think that the graphics driver update might help to
    (2) according to my experience, all the latest drivers graphics (and other drivers) are published on the Toshiba driver website
    (3) you can find only a Toshiba BIOS on the Toshiba driver page. BIOS or firmware update graphic card is unknown to me and to be honest I don t think it would exist.

    See you soon

    Hello

The Intel graphics card is simply not powerful enough to handle the latest PC games.
You think so, why all the hardcore gamer don t buy computers laptops, but during the CPU clock and buy new graphics for PC s Office cards?

The laptop is not comparable with the desktop PC. It's just different technology according to the limitations of hardware upgrade on your laptop, you can spend only the HARD drive and RAM.
You cannot add also all other ports for laptop. It is not possible :(

  • Satellite P100-437 - the update of the BIOS under Linux?

    Hello

How can I update my BIOS when I only installed Linux? Your BIOS updates require windows.

    Thanks for the reply

    Hello

First of all what laptop you have exactly?

Normally the BIOS can only be updated on Windows so you need to install Windows to update the BIOS. The point is that the BIOS update is possible on OS preinstalled and that s not Linux. ;)

Alternative, you can contact an authorized service provider. Maybe they can update the BIOS in DOS mode via disk or floppy disk. It s worth a try

I downloaded the latest BIOS for my Satellite L300 PSLB8E. The previous BIOS was 1.90 but I was facing some nework of error so I thought to upgrade the BIOS can help solve. I have download a new BIOS which is the exe 2.10, its installed successfully, and then shut down, but never started again. I tried to start it several times. I tried all the keys. I don't see a power led and two battery light.

I don't know what to do now. I have a recovery disk but it also does not work. I'm stuck. II had built a bunch of emails to answer that I am lost now.

    Please help me someone.

    Hi dhaval2000in,

Unfortunately, I think the case is clear: something was wrong because the BIOS update and now your laptop can start t more :(

The Toshiba Recovery disk will not help you because it doesn't contain any BIOS programs it contains only an image of recovery of Windows with all the drivers and flashing tools.

In my opinion, please contact an authorized service provider in your country to get rid of it because the guys do reflash ROM. module
I m that you can clarify this issue with the technicians and then you can use your laptop again :)

  • Satellite L350D - crash after update BIOS?

    Hey all.

Put windows XP on my Satellite L350D, worked well, has all the drivers etc. and works perfectly. Now it will not boot up what so ever. The power light turns on but nothing else works.

Im guessing that he wiped or corrupted BIOS, is there any fix for this, I can refer to toshiba or am I out of luck?

  • Satellite X 205-S9800 - update Bios failure of process

Hello guys, I have a very big problem

I have or at least I got a TOSHIBA Satellite X 205 - S9800 laptop with 4 GB 667 ddr2 sdram installed, fsb and I downloaded the new v2.5 update of the bios from the Web from Toshiba website.

I started the process of update in windows vista using the phoenix Toshiba bios update utility and while the utility has reached line 2 of 18, there was a vista blue screen of course followed by a system crash. I should mention that I had problems with before blue screens because of the ram I think.

In any case, I had no choice but to disconnect the power cord and remove the battery, because the power wouldn't button? t is longer, and now when I try to turn on my laptop, it powers just up to the graphics card and cpu coolers and power led light.
Of course, the screen remains black, the second I take my finger on the power button it turns off. When I plug in the power cord, it does the same thing, but without pressing me the power button.

I wonder what should I do, because obviously the bios has failed, and now I have to reschedule, my question is, where he is on the motherboard, or if someone knows the part number. I have some skills in electronics.
I can replace it, because I have find a new somewhere, or is it possible to remove the chip, connect it to an Eprom special peripheral reprogramming and actually write the image of the bios again. Or is there any life in the chip?

I mean it would help if I find a USB floppy and try to reprogram this way.
For any help or suggestion would be gladly appreciated, because obviously this is a terrible situation, and I made a terrible mistake, which can actually be deadly.

Thank you in advance, I hope I have this issue

OK guys, I found the eeprom part number (CSI) W (I) 16-16 k CMOS EEPROM 24 c series with 128 pages with 16 bytes each, ca? s 2048 KB, packed in a box of 8-Lead SOIC, so I should be able to remove the motherboard, attach it to a serial interface and reprogram (still doing some research on it).

By all means if you have any suggestions, they are gladly appreciated.

  • Satellite Pro 4270: after update BIOS CPU speed at 250 MHz

    Welcome.

I have upgraded the BIOS to version 2.7 (downloaded on toshiba website) in Satellite Pro 4270 and after her, my bus speed decrease to 250 MHz, so now I have Celeron 250 MHz instead of 500 MHz. You have some suggestions? Where can I find the old version of the BIOS in v2.7?
    Thank you

    HI Artur,

Unfortunately, it is not possible to download an older version of BIOS on yout laptop since the BIOS update procedure is written to test later versions pre-installed and not too write.

You will need to take your laptop to a Service partner certified to have a previous version of the BIOS re-installed.

    Hello

I see that there is an update of the BIOS for my Satellite L505-13 X. However, it is a .exe and he would go on the wine? Is it necessary to update? I have a serious overheating problem. #

An update would I read on some forums?

    Hi pieredel,

Probably this update will run on wine, but all BIOS updates are tested only on Windows because Toshiba doesn't support Linux. In my opinion it s too risky to do on wine and, therefore, you must install Windows.

In general the BIOS updates are unnecessary if everything is ok, because this update is a bit risky. So, don t do this update just for fun.

Do you have the same problems of overheating in Windows? If not it s a question of bases Linux and the BIOS will not help you
