Satellite P200 - disabling Internet special button Close button walk / stop

I have a Satellite P200. Recently, the problem that my Internet push button itself so multiple Firefox Windows begin to appear at random intervals. Sometimes 2, sometimes it's 30. Needless to say, it's pretty boring.

I found where I can customize the buttons and make the Internet button open a different program, but it doesn't seem to be an option to turn it off completely. If I "Unregister" the Internet button, then it goes back to the default function of opening a Web browser when it is pushed.

Is it possible to completely disable these keys?

Thank you!
Jason

Hello

I have the same model of laptop and disabling option is not known to me. What you can try is to remove the utility of technical support of added value package button.

In Control Panel, you will find option programs and features. Click to remove the VAP. Generally, it should ask you to change the installation and you can choose which part of this package can be deleted, if it is not completely remove the VAP.

Download the last option in the download page of Toshiba, but when the facility starts choose custom installation and uncheck the box in front of the technical support of button utility.

So for now I see it as the only possible solution.

  • Satellite P200 PSPB6: Collapsed control buttons working after Vista update

I have the Satellite P-200 model PSPB6 with Vista Home Premium for more than 1 year.
So far, there is no problem of material with him.

Although there are software problems, the most important of which is that the laptop sometimes fails to wake from Hibernate mode and the continuation of this failure. I need to reinstall the driver LAN at any time.

But a few days ago after a massive Vista (approximately 40 patches at the same time) update all the hardware buttons (for internet, Media Player, etc.) suddenly stopped working.
In fact, the only button I used actively was button, launch Internet Explorer, whereas, instead of opening the media player and by launching a media file in the menu much more ergonomic correspondent is just double click on the name of the file in a like Total Commander file manager.

Well, my first thought was that the drivers for these buttons have been destroyed following this update messy (I managed to install all updates,
except for Office 2003, after 5 attempts only partially successful, in the 6th!).
There is no sign of incorrect or missing drivers in Device Manager.

I've located the corresponding devices in the Device Manager under system devices---> button to launch the direct Application.
There are 3 devices with that name in Device Manager (although my laptop has 6 buttons). All of them are declared as "working properly", although none of the 6 buttons actually work.

The second idea was to use the tools of Toshiba. I found that there is a "Toshiba button Support" field in Toshiba Assist--> optimization, which opens a window
which I guessed (there is no description of the functions of this window or even simple mentioning of it in the user's guide) is used to reassign functions of the any of the buttons to launch applications defined by the user instead of browser by default, Media Player, etc..
But the strange thing is that there are only 2 fields instead of 6 in the drop-down list of the button names: 'Internet' and ' CD/DVD.

Well, I wrote 'C:\Program may Explorer\iexplore.exe' as the target path for the 'Internet' button and saved the button.
The button did not work so far :(

The third thing I did: I reinstalled the package with added value for the model 6 buttons. Without success :(((

If anyone knows how we can restore the function of the buttons - please help me.

And if someone can explain why the app for the model 6 button ignores these buttons 4
(and why the devices for 3 buttons appear in the Device Manager)-
This information would be useful as well.

Sorry! (P. 4-14 of the operating manual), I found the info on how to change the functions of the top 2 buttons - and it seems that the functions of
Only these 2 buttons are configurable, 4 others are fixed. And these fixed buttons actually work if Windows media player is launched.
So my question boils down to this: How can restore the function of the first two buttons (definable by the user)?

Hi, I read your post because I have the sam problem.
I have a new P300d - good machine - showing a lot of problems, although
So I installed vista business in v2.1 bios and the buttons works great.
After the updates, then the functions keys were different, so I downloaded and installed the package of value added. The only difference was that collapsed buttons not all working.
So I uninstalled the VAP and they worked as at the start.
Something else - find the ButtonSetting.ini file and try to change the functions of the keys here.
So I hope that it can give you another idea and help you in any way.

  • Satellite P200-1BA - Internet browser activity stops

    Hello
I have a big problem with internet activity on a WLAN connection.

    Configuration:
    Model: Satellite P200-1BA.
System: Vista Home Premium OEM with SP1 and the latest updates.
    Browsers: Mozilla Firefox, IE, Safari.
    Router: FRITZ Box 7050.
    Communicators: Skype, Gadu-gadu

    Description of the problem:

After starting system - access WIRELESS Internet start automatically to the next step commumicators start.
When I opened one of my internet browsers - I can work with this browser only 5 to 20 minutes. After this time, my browser activity stops.

I can't use any other browser - web pages load. But - commmunicator Gadu-Gadu - still work correctly.
I can start & stop communicator activity several times - and communicator is still OK.

But not the browser - browser is hung up.
I have to reboot the system,-c' is the only way I can reuse my browser and see all www pages.
    I know that:

-J tested dns - writtening IP adres field in browser - does nt work
-There are various ports 80-browsers, 8080 (?) communicator - maybe vista is blocking all ports?
-in command mode - ping adres - without problems
-in command mode ipconfig / renew - without effects
-different toshiba - with windows XP - working properly and correctly
-the e-mail program (outlook) does not work correctly
-reinstallation of vista - problem is back

    Help, please.

    Hello

You use the WiFi network, but have you noticed the same thing using the LAN?

According to your assignment, applications such as e-mail and Skype chat automatically load in the bottom of the BONE.
In your case I would test if IE and other browsers would hang without usig and loading gadu gadu and Skype.

Also if this problem appears only using the WiFi network then you need to update the WLan driver and should also check if the BIOS is updated.

Sorry for this frugal proposal but as you probably know, it's not really easy to tell what causes this strange problem

    Welcome them

  • NB 300 button walk / stop

    Hey
Does anyone know how to disable the power button? It's too light!

    See you soon

Take a look in the BIOS for a setting of 'enlightenment '. If there is no parameter, then I guess that you could place a sticker on the power button.

  • OfficeJet Pro 8620: HP OfficeJet Pro 8620 button walk / stop keep flashing

    Condition:

My Officejet Pro 8620 is about 1 1/2 years and all of a sudden it does not. (FYI: it worked again yesterday). My printer has been connected to 3 PCs in my house wireless, there is another printer (HP LaserJet Pro M401dw) in the same room connected to wifi even. Printer is plugged directly into the outlet. No attempt to replace the cartridge or install the new firmware recently.

    Location:

This morning, I saw the power button flashes, in an unusual way, it flickered at a rapid pace, about 3 - 4 times per second. When I try to print something, the printer has not been to see the in my list of printers, so I try to touch the screen of the printer, but nothing happened. When I pressed the power button, it stopped blinking, and the HP logo was shown on the screen with a blue bar underneath. Then it was stuck there for hours. Tried the hard reset, use the tools of the firmware, connect my printer to my pc using cable, but my printer is not displayed on my pc (it is not detected by the pc, no new feature and nothing appear in "Printers and devices" when the cable is connected to my PC).

So I unplugged the printer from the power source and wait a few hours, then reconnect the printer to the socket. The printer has started again with the power button / stop light up and the screen showing the logo of HP with a blue bar below the logo. But this time, after a few minutes, the screen is off, all buttons blink (home, help, back, wireless & power button) at a rate (about 3 - 4 times per second) fast, and after a minute or two, home, help, "back" button and stop brighter wireless (only flashing light up), but the power button keeps blinking. All the buttons and the display do not respond, press the power button / stop is unable to turn off the printer.

I tried all possible troubleshooting methods suggested on this forum, but nothing to solve it, I hope someone in this forum can help me with this, thanks in advance.

    Hi @DenieceNg,

It seems that the problems are on the increase, and maybe this could be related to a hardware problem with the printer.

Here is the document of support for the power problems - printer does not turn on.

If these problems persist, I would contact HP Technical Support because they may have additional resources that could help lead to a solution. What you can do, is to use the following link to create yourself a file number, then call and it can help to expedite the appeal process:

Step 1. Open the link: www.hp.com/contacthp/

Step 2. Enter the product number or select Auto detection

Step 3. Scroll up to "still need help? Fill out the form to select your contact options.

Step 4. Scroll down and click on: contact HP options - click Get phone number

File number and phone number are displayed.

If this helps you find a solution please click the 'accept as Solution' and the 'thumbs up' buttons down below in this message.

  • HP Pavilion g7-1167dx button walk / stop does not

Hello. It's my first time using this Ant so sorry if I posted something wrong.

My HP Pavilion 1167dx g7 stopped working an hour after that I turned it off. It has been used for about 3 hours and I did nothing to the internal hardware and the computer is not overheating (just, I was playing a game I've played for 6 months and it does not put any strain on the system). When I turned it off is no hitches at the close. When I returned an hour later to turn on the I pressed the power button and nothing comes up. No fan, no clicking or lights. Only the light on the AC adapter is on. The laptop is 4 years old. I tried a hard reset, nothing helps.

Yes I wanted to exclude from a power supply dead because that is a solution easier and cheaper, but it seems power are the motherboard, but nothing happens on this subject. This means almost certainly of a motherboard failure.

  • X 200 ban button walk / stop does not

Recently the power button on the front of my ban can put is no longer the computer to hibernation.  It used to work and fact to wake a hibernation (or disable on a tour) to the machine that is just placed in the ban.  I think it stopped working for hibernation after that I installed a number of updates to the tool of Lenovo updates including a new BIOS and a Service Pack for Windows.  I don't want to go back and uninstall packages, and wa wondering if someone else sees this problem or if anyone knows a setting that got zero defect and must be changed. Thanks in advance.

Fixed it by going to "chosen what to do power buttons", changing both "on battery" and "Plugged" of 'Put to sleep' to the 'status quo', save the changes, then change the two back to 'standby '.

  • HP Pavilion dv7 button walk / stop does not

Hi, I recently had my Hp Pavilion dv7-1245dx Entertainment Notebook (to the best of my knowledge bc, I can't look it up in my product number) fixed some viruses and malware that caused random stops and freezes. My laptop worked fine after that the fix so I installed the latest updates to better protect my laptop but when I left and my laptop came into fashion 'sleep' it would not respond and the screen was black. I stopped using the power button and it turned back. The computer does not start and the flash caps lock button three times which means a problem of memory, according to HP support, that happened before I got my laptop fixed. Later, I unplugged the AC adapter and moved my laptop but when I tried to put it on the power button does not respond and I can't do anything with my laptop. Both recommended options for the issue of cap locks and the power button is to go inside my laptop and tinkering with the battery and the memory module. I'm very hesitant to do so for fear of further harm to my laptop. I am on Windows 7 and advice on what I should do would be greatly appreciated. (will give you more information if necessary)

    With respect,

    ACertainGuy

Your notebokdoes have removable covers for the module of memory in the bottom of the laptop. It's just as shown in the document I linked.

You will need to buy a Jewelers screwdriver set.  A jewellers Phillips scredriver is necessary.

Here is a link to a documentthat explains the flashing LED error codes and what they mean.

The only other option, if you do not have enough confidence to do it yourself, is to take your laptop in a shop that will do it for you.

    Best regards

I have problem with my NB205-325 bl, if I press on the power button then it will load the TOSHIBA logo and after, coming to screen empty and it does not start at startup. Everything was fine, if I used it the last time.
    OS: Windows 7 Ultimate

    What did I try?
I gathered some information on this issue, and I found it helps sometimes if I remove the battery and remove the RAM. And if I was kidnapped ram, then I'll give you a few electritvy on this subject, but this did not help. (maybe I missed a part)? Also, I checked in my BIOS primary boot is my hard drive.

Usually if laptop doesn't start and you get only a black screen, it seems to be a hardware malfunction

  • How to configure X 220 to ignore button walk / stop and only start fingerprint reader?

Hey all, sorry if this has been answered. If she was I didn't know.

Is there a way to set the BIOS so that the bot via a shot successful fingerprint? This seems to be such a better way of doing things. I'm interested in safety, but only if interested i can drag a player instead of hitting a button; put a password every time and that's way too much effort for me. But when I slide a finger unregistered, the computer remains off. When I swipe a registered finger, it lights up. It's great. Now how can I do so I can ONLY turns on this way instead of simply by pressing the power button?

In fact, I think I found a better solution. I really dislike windows passwords, I simply don't want to load an operating system of the computer.

My problem, on set the 'Power On' password to the security in the BIOS and allows the reader of fingerprints be used instead, was that it does not work and I still need to type the password. It was because the Legacy mode has been set as the default boot priority. Change first UEFI mode allowed me to set a power password I could jump by turning on the machine by a swipe of the finger. Happen that I set. Even much more than "it's impossible".

  • HP Officejet 4500 G510n-z all-in-one series, button walk / stop

    HP Officejet 4500 G510n-z series all-in-one wireless.

When I press and release the power button, it does not start and no lights appear.

If I press and hold the power button for about a minute, the printer turns on and works fine.

To turn off the printer, I need to press the power button for about a minute.

    Hi @Tonyey20,

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support! I see the power button on your HP Officejet 4500 is inadmissible, if you press and hold the button for one minute, the printer will turn on and work normally.

I would like you to start troubleshooting here: The HP printer will not be running or to respond when the power button is pressed

Please let me know the results. I'll watch for your reply.

  • Compaq V6000 closing right after button walk / stop is pressed.

The laptop turns on and turns off 2 seconds after you press the power button. Any ideas what is wrong. It was working fine the day before and the next morning is then when this started.

Thank you very much for the information on this problem. It was really very useful.

  • No amber light in the button walk / stop during sleep, now no blue light when Windows is running.

The first took place several weeks after a mysterious ailment judgment then "standby mode". Last night, "closing Windows" hung for 10 minutes until that I forced the closure in holding the power button. Now, Windows loads and runs - but without the blue light in the power button.

I would like to know why, how to fix it and - especially - if it's dangerous. I count on my computer for all of my business account.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Now, Windows loads and runs - but without the blue light in the power button.

-> If Windows runs as it should then light is only an indicator of power. You're probably dealing with a faulty LED. Nothing to worry about.

I count on my computer for all of my business account.

-> It would be a case of all stored inside the computer records and no external backup? A big accident waiting to happen? If Yes, then this would be an ideal opportunity to review your backup strategy. How your business would suffer if you lost a value one day of data? Value of a week? The lot?

  • HP DV9700 not start. Farm in seconds after pressing the button walk / stop.

My HP Pavilion DV9700, who works under Vista, stopped working yesterday.  I never did at the Windows startup screen.  Messages on-screen messages which function key to press for configuration, see starting, etc...   then stops.

It started a day ago. I don't think that windows is the question.

I tried to hard reboot... blew compressed air into the power supply area... no change.

Don't know what to try next.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

    Steve

Had to take the machine a tech I know.  It was the motherboard.   Thermal paste had disappeared from the excessive heat of the CPU and GPU and the poor ventilation of the machine design.   Costly, preventable and unnecessary repairs... HP was worth investing in better design systemboard for their laptops and notebook computers.

HP response... your notebook $ 1200 of the scrap and buy another... and they will add the warranty one year.

They thought that 5-6 years I got my laptop has a long service life of the device.

I was actually insulted by this response and doubt my next laptop will be HP.

Thanks to those who have tried to help however.

    Hello

For these special buttons, you must install the tools of Toshiba. Did you check that?

On the Toshiba site I founded the document setup instructions for your laptop and XP. It is a list for recommended order of installation of drivers.
This means that you will also install Toshiba common Modules, Hotkey Utility, enabling/disabling Touchpad utility, utilities, etc.
