Satellite P200D-139 suddenly goes to blank screen and must be restarted

Hallo,
Have a Toshiba Notebook: Satellite P200D-139. Just reinstalled vista (because the phone was slow and glitch) and the computer has just only started going to a white screen at random, no error reports... nothing.

Works fine, once it has been rebooted, restored in safemode, updates not installed... but ran ideas.

Would be grateful for the help, thanks.

Hmmm. my laptop s screen was empty, sometimes after the activation of the standby mode.
But after restarting again, everything was OK.

I searched a bit in the forum and found people who recommended a BIOS and update the display driver.
I did this and could solve my problem

I'm, not sure if this would be useful but try this too
It s worth a try

  • Satellite P200D-139 - blank screen suddenly and now empty start

Therefore, given a laptop to take a look at, now the problem she has is that she played Sims one night and left the phone on during 10 minutes while she went downstairs, now when she returned the laptop screen was blank. She turned it off and back on again and the screen would just light up.

I had a look myself and I can confirm that something is wrong, I asked if she had accidentally pressed any key on the keyboard is to say FN + screen off and she said that she had not.

I plugged it up to my TV via the VGA port at startup and after leaving the laptop 10 mins and nothing, the laptop is booting, you can hear the fans and hard drive and the lights in the front are all to give a positive response but as above the custom of the screen lights up.

    Anyone able to help?

    Model name: Satellite P200D-139

    Thank you

    Hmmmmm... strange.
Try to start Notepad with AC adapter only, or only to the batteries.
Unplug the two and leave it for a while and check if the same thing will happen again.
You can try to remove the HARD drive and see if the laptop will start correctly (BIOS and Toshiba welcome screen).

Do these small tests and post the result.

  • Matte screen on Satellite P200D-139

My father has a laptop Toshiba Satellite P200D-139 and today a shot then screen is just gone dark.

When the power is off and you start the laptop, the screen is very bright as it should, but after about 30 seconds, the screen becomes dull, as if the brightness has been lowered.

Now when I close the lid and put it to sleep then open it again and then get out of standby, the monitor remains dull. The only way he'll light is by cutting off the power completely and turn it on again but it goes back dull after about 30 seconds.

The laptop is still running from the charger the battery was totally turned off and does not charge for a year now.

I tried to update the drivers and allsorts but can t fix it.

Anyone know what could be the problem?

If I understand you right so that you see Toshiba welcome screen everything is OK, but when Windows loading problem, right?
Have you noticed the same thing if you start the laptop in safe mode?
Have you tried to reinstall the display driver?

Either way, what operating system is preinstalled on this machine?

  • Satellite P200D-139 screen with horizontal lines

I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite P200D-139 and the screen no longer works.
It turns on but the screen is made up of vertical lines, which slowly fade into a black screen.

I tried on an external monitor and it worked fine, (so probably cannot be a defective/motherboard graphics card). So, I thought that it was likely to be the inverter or the screen itself.
After trying a new inverter without success, I bought another second hand screen.

However, the new screen is exactly the same problem with horizontal lines display.
Sometimes, I catch a partial glimpse of a Vista screensaver for a fraction of a second, but then back to black. I m not a technophobe, so any info would be much appreciated.

Please help, as he leads me into the wall!

    > I tried on an external monitor and it worked fine, (so probably cannot be a defective/motherboard graphics card). So, I thought that it was likely to be the inverter or the screen itself.

Right. I think that the problem is related to the display

    > However, the new screen has exactly the same problem with horizontal lines display.
Well, it might be possible that the second screen is faulty, too that if you bought this as part of the second hand then it might be possible that you bought a screen that is not working properly.

What to say; It of difficult to say what you should do next. Buy a new screen and check it again? Well, I think that I would visit the next computer repair store and ask for verification of the display.
I think it's the best solution in your case

  • Cannot access Windows on my Satellite P200D-139

    Evening,

I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite P200D-139. I am trying to format the hard drive and whenever I turn it on, it just goes right to a box of password directly after showing the Toshiba logo. The box says press F2 or F12 as normal, as I do, the password box comes in next. This isn't a password of windows, as windows does not load.

I think it's a set up / BIOS password. Any help around this would be appreciated. I have a thought of the Mike pattern to remove battery CMOS, ideas, please keep in mind that I can't enter the BIOS / or implement the page thanks a lot YES - YES.

    Please respond to my email

    Hello

Yes it must be the BIOS password. In this story, it's a bit strange to me that you have on this subject.
Is your laptop or you got someone?

Is that you will not be able to have access to pre-installed Windows or option to install new windows if you don't have good BIOS password. Removal of password is not information on a public forum, so if you need assistance, you should contact Toshiba service in your country. They can remove for you.

I know removing the CMOS battery won't help you to remove the BIOS password.

  • Satellite P200D-139 - battery appears to be dead

I have a Toshiba Satellite P200D-139 and for the last year or so the battery seems to be dead (so I think).

the laptop will be work with the charger connected and if the charger is removed then the laptop turns off.

under windows it says sound plugged in but no charge current and charge level is zero percent.
the ac power led is to say I have it plugged in, but the battery light does not illuminate.

If I pull the battery and reinsert it with the laptop is plugged in, the battery light stays on for about 2 seconds, then goes back new.

is this just a battery flat, because before all this happened to the use of the battery if flow from 100% to 0% in 2 minutes.

Yes, that sounds like the battery needs to be replaced.
My 6-year battery is dead too.
It loads and indicates that its full load but after about 1 min of use the battery is completely empty

    That s nothing unusual

  • Satellite P200D-139 - recover F8 does not work

    Hello world

I need to restore my (Satellite P200D-139) mother's cell phone to factory settings.
I press F8 at startup, but when I select the recover, it starts just windows normally rather than taking me to the recovery page... Why past/what should is I do?

    Thanks in advance,

    MBL

    Hello

I m not sure why this product maybe something was wrong with the HARD drive partition or files on the HARD disk partition.
Did you choose; F8-> fix my computer-> drive HARD recovery?

If this does not work, you will need to use the Toshiba Recovery disk which you + if all goes well + created using the Toshiba Recovery Disk Creator.

  • Satellite P200D-139 - Question about recovery disk

My father has a Toshiba Satellite P200D-139 and we lost the recovery for laptop disk and the recovery HARD drive image also disappeared.

So I ordered a new pack of Toshiba and I was just wondering if I had to put a new HARD drive in the laptop (a bigger HARD drive) the recovery pack contains Windows Vista to put it back on the hard drive?

I once had an old Windows XP on Toshiba Satellite 1900 and packed on that hard drive if I bought a new disc and ran the recovery disk and it put Windows back on so I hope that this pack for this laptop does the same.

    Hey,.

Is that the Toshiba recovery disc can restore the factory settings every time and on each HARD drive. If you replace a new s than what it still possible to restore the factory settings on the same HARD drive, nothing is installed on the HARD drive. HARD drive recovery files are not necessary for the recovery disk because the recovery itself contains these files.

So replace with a bigger HARD drive and boot from the recovery disc. You come out of the box settings and the computer will be ready to use after this :)

    Hello

I don't know much Equium series, but I guess that's the sata (sata interface) controller. SATA interface, there is no limit of ability so up to 500 GB (even more) should be recognized correctly. The only thing is that BIOS should also support it.

  • Satellite P200D-139 - I want to improve memory

    Hello

Last year, I bought a portable Satellite P200D-139. This came with 2 GB of memory installed and now I turn to 4 GB
I can't find this model anywhere on the Toshiba site, with the exception of the driver updates.

I checked the site of Kingston memory for upgrades, but it lists only P200D-137 and 138. Even on the Toshiba site
I can not yet know if this model is able to pass to 4 GB

    If anyone can help me?

In any case the Toshiba XP drivers are published on the European driver Toshiba page.
