Satellite P50-B-110 - activity, DVD - RW without inserted media

Hi it's me again.

I wonder why my DVD at 5 minute intervals about turn on the Green led and starts trying to play media which, incidentally, is not there at all.

Is this a normal behavior?

I found some information about similar problems and in many cases called software preinstalled Toshiba * Toshiba PC Health Monitor * was the reason for this.

You can access the Services
(Control Panel-> computer management-> services and applications-> services)
Search TPCH Service here. It's Toshiba PC Health Monitor
Disable this service and reboot the laptop

Your comments would be greatly appreciated.

It s not normal phone behavior if the laptop overheats and crashes.
But it s not unusual if the temperature goes up while playing or watching videos from all parts like CPU and GPU have to run more fast offering more performance and producing more heat.

Therefore, it is very important to follow some important rules.

You must use the graphics drivers Toshiba because these drivers are designed and modified for mobile use.

  • Devices Satellite Pro L300D-110 - downgrading to XP Pro - HARD drive missing?

Hello to everyone in the Toshibe Satellite Pro - my first post forum.

I was one proud owner of other portable Tosh without any problem, but this time, I'm miserable: (o)

For professional use a few days ago, we bought a laptop Satellite Pro L300D 110 (AMD Athlon Dual Core). We bought it with the understanding that it could be brought back to XP Pro - mainly because some of the software that we use on a daily basis does not work reliably on Vista, but also because all other laptops to desktop computers in our network (including a WLAN) all running XP Pro, adding another machine that it should have been easy.

The need to do so has been confirmed by the fact, nevertheless, I tried, we could just not get the new Toshiba L300D connection through our routers so that under Vista. At the same time, we also bought a new Dell with no o/s. I installed a new copy of XP Pro SP2 OEM - and it runs under the sweet as a nut! Sorry, I digress:

I reduced the L300D to XP Pro very well using the XP Pro provided - Toshiba Recovery disk no problem at all. I had the computer connected to the network too, but then I realized that the DVD (Pioneer DVD - RW DVRTD08A ATA) is not found by Windows.

Logged in the BIOS setup - Yes, he was listed there OK, but tried some tongs and tricks I have learned over the years, I still couldn't XP Pro to the discovery of the device.

I have now reinstalled Vista on the machine and he found the DVD burner.

If it's a PC, I shut down the computer, open the case, disconnect the writer, start, stop, reconnect the device, close case and bingo. But not with perhaps a laptop...

Someone has ideas how (reliable!) downgrade to XP Pro without devices being endangered? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have two copies again more XP Pro SP2 at my disposal, if that's any use.

    Kind regards

    David

    (> I'm happy again now: o)
    Great to hear that!

    Just for info:
The most recent series of portable supports the newer SATA HDD controllers and so the operating system can be installed if the SATA drivers are not included and preinstalled.

So if you want to use the SATA features you must first install the SATA driver.
But you can also activate SATA mode to compatibility mode (in BIOS) and this would install the Win XP without the necessary SATA drivers.

    Good bye

  • Satellite P50 - B - 11 M - Ubuntu Linux usage

    Hello.

I'm about to buy a Satellite P50 - B - 11 M, but I do not know if Ubuntu/Mint (that I use for work) works perfectly on this machine, since the Ubuntu Certified Desktop page does not list any machine of your brand.

Can you help me? Someone test the machine on these operating systems? Toshiba after drivers on the Ubuntu repositories?

    Thank you.

    Hello

Pending a response from the community, why not try?
Ubuntu comes as a direct medium that allows you to run as a complete desktop experience without touching anything that is installed on your PC.
You can then check that the devices work.

    Associated with Toshiba-drivers.
Linux does not work on Windows in this sense. The drivers are rarely (Yes it happens, but very rare) provided as a separate download.
They are normally included in the kernel packages which mean that they are available at the same time.

    Good luck and have fun!

  • Access to Boot to install Satellite M50-A-110 problem

    Hello

I just bought a Satellite M50-A-110 and wanted to install Win 7.

Problem is that I have difficulties to access the bios press F2, esc, or DELETE...

It worked (twice) if I could change boot USB (with a bootable USB key that I used on other computers to install win 7), still does not begin to earn 8...

So I formatted the hard drive to get rid of all the partitions and win 8.

Replaced the hard drive, insert the USB and now I have this message:

"Reboot and select proper boot device."
or Insert boot media in selected boot and press device any key..."

    So my questions are:

-Are known issues with the m50-a-110, in the start menu? and what is the key / key combination, that I push?
-This would be installing win 7 can only be achieved with a USB 3.0? (2 slots USB 3.0 and USB 2.0)

Thank you for your help in advance and good luck,

Hello and thanks for the comments. On a site I m happy to know that you have solved your problem, but on the other hand, it is not the best solution.

Have you really taken apart your laptop to access the CMOS battery? I mean, after this action, your warranty is no longer valid.

On this forum you can find numerous threads about the same question, where is explained what needs to be done about it and what steps are required to install Win7 on new models of laptops with preinstalled Win8 / Win8.1.

What needs to be done first is the full stop - http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB2B03EY0002R01.htm
After doing this, it is possible to enter the BIOS settings and change the secure boot settings.

I just hope that you have created a recovery (DVD or USB) media until you have formatted your HARD drive.

In any case, good luck with your machine.

    Does not work too.
I just need to put my .efi running in the starup
    Thank you all

    Hello
Can you tell us what your problem is? I have seen a lot of technical stuff, but do not clearly understand your problem.
If you are having problems to start Ubuntu in an Efi / UEFI environment I suggest you try copying the file to start the live-media / installation in your startup folder media.
Please note that the suggestion is not detailed must apply little reason.

    Hello

cannot find answers to my problem, so start a new topic.
    Having Satellite A100-011 with Vista preinstalled and Mat * a DVD - RAM UJ-850 s (firmware 1.10).

Recently installed Nero 7.5.9 and you want to burn DVD (6, 5 GB) media dual layer (Immation - Ritek).

First time Nero stopped with information: could not perform start of Disc At Once (without damaging the media).
After that, run Nero as Windows XP - SP2 program and burn half the disc (first layer), but when to start to burn the second layer (I guess), stop once again with the same error information (could not perform start of DAO).

Simple disc burning layer without problem.

Anyone any idea how to solve this problem?

    Hello

tried to record double-layer of a different brand? Maybe you should try it, because sometimes certain brands are not really taken in charge or not very well. And check the toshiba (or google) pilot site for new drivers or firmware for this drive, sometimes that it really helps.

I think that the media are not really compatible, I ve read some similar problems in the roxio forum and they solved by using another brand.

Would be nice if you give some information on this case... :)

    Welcome them

    Hello!

I had a problem. I noticed that the graphics card is not listed anywhere.

Not in the material or any other program of reference Manager.
I don't see the graphics chip HD processor (Intel HD graphics 4600).

I tried to install a driver experience and/or nvidia geforce, but both programms gave me the message that there is no Nvidia gpu
When I was with Windows 8/8.1 everything was ok, but now (Windows7) I have a problem

    I use:
    Toshiba Satellite P50 - A - 11 L PSPMHE
    video card: GeForce GT745M

    Could someone help me?

    Hello

    > Not in hardware or any other program of reference Manager.
I think you first need to access the BIOS and put its default value
Also make sure that the BIOS is up to date (currently v1.70)

After this go to the Device Manager, and then click Show. Make sure that the disabled or hidden devices will be activated and listed in the list of devices.

Then the GeForce GT745M must be visible.

With regard to the nVidia Driver:
You should use the one on the page of the Toshiba UE driver (currently v9.18.13.1141)

  • Webcam has stopped working on my Satellite P50-B-103

    Hello everyone.
I bought a brand new toshiba satellite P50-B-103 in the begginning, the webcam worked fine, a few weeks ago, but after some time, he said that "no webcam device were found" and suchs.

Theres no information on a webcam in Device Manager and I cannot find the drivers for this laptop, I wanted to solve this problem without making a complete pc restore, this is why im asking here.
    * edit *.
I used Windows 8 'back to factory settings' and the problem persists.

    Can someone help me?

In various cases, the webcam can be turned on and off in the BIOS:
Access the BIOS by pressing the F2 key and check if the webcam option is available in BIOS and if it is enabled or disabled.

Usually this option would appear under: Advanced-> System Configuration
