Satellite P55W-C - FN switched in BIOS special to standard & nothing has changed

have a new satellite P-55W-C, 10 House windows.

went into the bios or UEFI, probably bad letters, but I arrived and passed under the special function keys to the standard, which should be when I press the f11 key, it should mute or reactivate the sound without using the FN key with the function key. That's how it worked when I started using it.
Changed, doesn't not work, rebooted, went into bios, made sure it was always the same (it was) and saved, rebooted and still has to push FN to get the function the button to work. Initially, it worked out of the box with just pressing the f1 to f12 keys WITHOUT pushing the FN key to get the function to work. very frustrating. any ideas? Thank you.

Hi ronalddonald,
Try this, on my L50 - C Satellite that it works:

Win 10:
Start > all Apps > Toshiba > system Config
Keyboard > function keys

Here, you have the same options of FN keys as in the BIOS.
Store, restart your system and it should work.

Best regards,
Diba

  • PDF attributes - special characters - Microsoft word has changed

I create multiple PDFs (with Acrobat 9 Pro) every day from Microsoft Word 2003. When I do a lot of changes to the MS Word document, I compare the new PDF from the old PDF. The menu of Acrobat 9, I use the Document / compare and select "reports, spreadsheets, presentations magazine.

I have a lot of special characters in my Word document, such as chips, and symbol characters such as ' less than or equal to ' and ' greater than or equal to ". Even if none of the pages with these symbols have changed, the special characters are marked as changes.

It's really annoying. I have to watch many false "changed pages" and decide to ignore them. Today, I've recreated a 62 page PDF file. There is only two pages I had edited in Word format. When I compared the files PDF, he marked 30 pages with modifications.

Each page with a point of the bullet has been marked as a change. When I pass the mouse on this point in the Acrobat summary compare, it shows a different size ball and indicates that the police has changed. But actually, nothing has changed.

I'm curious to know if anyone knows how to keep these elements of flag changes Acrobat. In earlier versions of Acrobat, there was a way to say to ignore the changes of fonts. Maybe someone could tell me how to do this in Acrobat 9...

One possibility could be that the fonts are not included.

  • Satellite L855 - 14K - random switching between power settings

My Satellite L855 - 14K is used when it is plugged. The screen changes every seconds bright for dim - at the same time the logo in the taskbar switches to [plugged, load] to [xx % remaining] and the plug is removed from the logo. I changed the setting to [high-power] power and changed the setting to never reduce or turn off the screen and the brightness of the screen has been set to the maximum. There is always an obvious difference and it makes me crazy.

The computer running Windows 7 Ultimate and has a 750 GB SSD, 16 GB of RAM, and software and BIOS are up-to-date. Battery and power have been exchanged with good known and the power supply is interrupted.

    Fred

According to the specifications of the laptop your machine was delivered with Win8 64 bit. Have you noticed the same behavior with preinstalled OS original?
Since when did you notice this strange "switching" between the power supply and the battery?

To be honest, it's not easy to say with certainty what the problem is here, but I think that it cannot be software related issue. I can hardly imagine that software gets a sort of 'signal' of electronic power supply.

  • Auto detection of the guarantee can not find Satellite P55W-C5200

I bought a new Toshiba Satellite P55W-C5200 Poland and checked the status of internet security and produces automatic detection and did not find my product.

Serial number of the box and the laptop are the same, but in the warranty card, it's different.
Laptop works well, but the box is suspicious looking. I'm uploading photos of the box.

What do you think about this?
    Is it wrong product?

This box is not original. I doubt that the laptop is brand new. It can be refurbished or 2nd hand.

Toshiba never write 'Portable better' on the box.

  • Satellite A500-17 x - recovery of Bios without a floppy drive

    Hello

    I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite A500-TX.

My BIOS has been updated via the windows application, but the laptop has hung up and restarted (duh!). Now quite understandable, the laptop starts and doesn't show yet anything on the screen when powered on (I guess that the bios is damaged).

I found several ways to reflash the bios by using a floppy drive, but the problem is that the laptop is not equipped with a floppy drive.

Can anyone recommend sort reflash the bios with the floppy drive? Maybe by putting in the shape of the USB as a floppy drive and start? I tried to use the usb reflash via the method of phoenix

    .. .but does not.

    any help would be appreciated!

S is a shame and in my opinion, there is no real alternative for you about contact Toshiba service agent.
If you're lucky, just the ROM module could be reflashed, but in the worst cases, the motherboard may be dead.

Anyone know where I can download this?

The BIOS download page gives you only the Winflash & I need to Flash this laptop backpack... are installed Safeboot in NHS policy & I'm now stuck on the keyboard & touchpad, have you tried a USB keyboard without success.

SafeBoot is a disk encryption package which initializes windows to start so I am unable to use Winflash.
May need to find an operating system on a bootable CD if this based BACK Flash BIOS is not found...

    Hello

Unfortunately the BIOS from the base of BACK is not available on the European driver Toshiba page and so you will not be able to download it.

I m not very good if it would be possible, but perhaps a local ASP may be able to provide this version of BIOS Just contact the guy and just ask

But in my opinion it s advisable to Flash the BIOS using a Win version because it s much safer.

  • The Bios password has changed on my Satellite A100-797?

An hour ago my bios on my satellite A100-797 does not accept my password more, so I can't start my laptop more.
Is started the laptop views both today, and suddenly my password doesn't work anymore.

-Im am 100% sure I type the password.
-Never change the password always used this password on this laptop, for the time of year I have now.
-I'm the only person who has never known the password.
    -No recent bios update

It should not be possible that changed the password.
Is it possible the mapping of the keys or something like that has changed?

I recommend you contact the ASP in your country too.
It turns out that only the ASP can remove the BIOS password.

Maybe they could update the BIOS to make sure that this is not a BIOS problem.

  • Satellite A100-787: OS switch from Vista to Xp

    Dear,

This is Siva here, I recently bought a laptop Toshiba Satellite A100-787, with windows vista home. I would like to change the operating system to Windows XP will be compatible with Xp notebook? If so, where can I download the drivers for Xp.

Please advice me for the same thing.

    Hello

    I now propose the following:

Go to the website of toshiba driver
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=EU
and download all THE drivers, including the update of the bios and put it on CD or USB key.

Before installing XP, do a biosupdate and so feel free to install Windows XP. Be careful AND READ THE installation INSTRUCTIONS that can be downloaded on the site driver before installing the drivers. IT IS REALLY IMPORTANT.

Otherwise, have fun with XP on your machine, it s absolutely fast on an A100. :)

  • Satellite A500 - the update of the BIOS?

    Hello

I wanted to update my laptop to the new version of the bios 1.30. I started the update based on windows. the update failed in the middle (6 package or something on the left) the installation process and the system froze. After I rebooted, I wanted to start the update of the bios for the second time, but the installer says, that I have already installed the version 1.30 of the bios.

How can I change my laptop completely, because my fan always runs on a high level.

    Best regards

  • Satellite C660D boot - update of the BIOS has not

    Hello

In recent days, I get a blue screen of death with the error 'whea_uncorrectable_error', I read something about the BIOS update, because the error is probably caused by the previous version of the BIOS. I gave the updated correctly, but as soon as restarting my laptop, nothing has been started.

The fan and the keyboard work but nothing else. I tried to remove the RAM, remove the CMOS battery, pulling on the battery and holding the power button, but nothing seems to work.

Can you please help me and tell me how to recover my BIOS?

because the error is probably caused by the previous version of the BIOS.

Older version of BIOS does not BSOD... cause the BSOD appeared during the last day, but I guess the laptop worked correctly in the past under the old version of BIOS... the BIOS could not the problem here...

However, the fact is that the laptop is dead now... probably because the update process was interrupted due to the BSOD...

From my point of few the EPROM has to be re-flashed again using BIOS crisis disk...

Some people tried to solve this similar problem using the 3rd party crisis disk (use forum search the crisis disk to find similar topics), but it still does not...

That's why I think that in most cases only the Toshiba ASP may be able to reflash the EMPRO using the original disk of crisis

  • Satellite A100-920 - after updating the BIOS, it does not start

    Hi all

I've updated the BIOS of my laptop to V6.0 (excerpt from the Toshiba site) then Windows XP and it went well, then Setup wanted to restart the PC.
But restarts, he won't have in the startup process. I can not access the start menu, or anything else by clicking F2 or F12. But could go the detailed process by clicking on escape. And there I see the following messages:

    Phoenix TrustedCore (TM)
    V6.0
    Version.Mak - r1.53
detects the dual core [email protected]

No TPM or TPM has problem.
    1023 M system RAM passed

    And that's all.
I can not get older versions of BIOS, and I couldn't find the version of the version 6.0 update that I could put on a CD for an another BIOS update.

Anyone has an idea on what is wrong? And if you find that it's to do with version 6.0 and I need a previous version, please could you send me the installation files that are necessary to do the update via a CDROM.

    Thanks for your help.

It is unclear to me that you can do the BIOS update using CDROM. The BIOS updates are designed to be done under operating systems. Old traditional updates have been a little different.

In any case, it seems that the BIOS chip is damaged. I can imagine this downgrade can help but where to find the old version. I know you can get it from the authorized service provider. they have access to the database of Toshiba and they can download the old version of the BIOS.

The download page is just the latest version available.
Contact the nearest service and ask for help.

  • Satellite 1905-S301: laptop model name Virus has changed?

I think that my Satellite 1905-S301 has been exposed to a virus. This is the worst I've ever seen: he has removed my firewall (Zonealarm), antivirus (AVG free) and Spybot. disabled Center Windows XP security, firewall and automatic update; I am unable to go to safemode (blue screen on startup); and I can not yet use the recovery CD because it has changed my machine to a 1900-801. This virus seems like it has intelligence.

Anyone know how I can force the recovery CD to restore my system?

What about first formatting the entire HARD disk, then use the Toshiba Recovery CD.
    This should help.
I don t think that the virus has changed something in the DMI and changed the model number of the laptop.
