    Please help me.

I bought a brand new toshiba Satellite A200 series laptop with vista home premimum inside.

For some reason, I'm not a fan of big vista.
So I lowered my XP OS and as I was looking for pilots and all this for XP I saw an update of the Bios for my laptop it's 5.20 which was for XP. Although for Vista its 2.40 as per mentioned on the Web site.

    Now where my problems began.
I downloaded this v5.20 bios and updated.
Soon the problems began as laptop is overheated, it freezes and sometimes refuse to give performance.

As I was unable to find all my drivers for XP I switched to Vista using my recovery DVDs. But the problem remains the same with Vista too, so finally, I took my laptop to a Toshiba Service Center.

They have said that it is a motherboard problem so they fixed, but they have not set the Bios.
I still v5.20 on my machine.

I tried to go down to v2.40 but it always shows an error.

Can someone help me pls... I am able to boot with a USB but I don't have a version of DOS of Bios v2.40.

Please if anyone can provide me with my version of the bios.
I'll be grateful to her for ever.

    Here are my system specs.

    Date 2009-01-26 03:04:19

    [Information on PC]
    Model name Satellite A200
    Part number PSAFCL-01M00P

Not even this when I buyed the laptop he showed me 749 something like a shared graphics memory now it shows only about 399.

I know that it is simply because of this update of the Bios.
Now I am not yet able to play good games.
This machine is almost useless for me now.

No help from you people will get.

I put t know why you want to downgrade the BIOS.
Have you read the information on the site of Toshiba for BIOS version 5.20? I created this:
    > Support Windows XP and Vista OS

So I think that you should not downgrade the BIOS. The most recent BIOS 5.20 is for Windows XP and Vista.
You can find this information on Toshiba Asia because you have the model of Asia (not Europe):
    http://www.PC.Toshiba-Asia.com =>
Update BIOS version 5.20 Satellite A200 (for the PSAF0-* & PSAFC *-* ONLY)

The Toshiba Service Center did a good job with the latest BIOS.

  • Satellite L300D - cannot downgrade from Vista to XP

Yes, I realize that Vista to XP is technically a downgrade but in my current situation, its nothing but an upgrade.

Right, I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite L300D-PSLC8A.

I ve only had it for 3 months now and I've experienced various problems with it, the DEP, on the one hand, is a real problem.

I ve had problems with my hard drive, began to really hurt at some point to the point she would have a continuous loop of repair and just wouldn t start correctly.
I had it sent back under warranty, thinking it was a hardware failure, but apparently not, blah blah, whatever.

My main problem right now is that I don't like Vista on this machine and have tried to format / install XP on it, several times, without success, using XP service pack 2, then one, then none

Each time I boot from the CD, it will start the initialization components needed to launch the formatting and installing XP, gets to the point where it says "starting windows" downstairs, and it blue screens on me, every time.

Now, I ve tried check disk, virus scans, I even got paranoid after this happening the first time and I have 3 firewall on this machine, but it's just will not work.

Any suggestions or anything like that would be very useful

    Hello!

BSOD code means you are using a wrong driver AHCI.

You integrate the AHCI driver? To the Satellite L300D, you must download the display driver package because there you can find the AHCI driver. Then, copy the drivers on an external floppy drive and load after you have started from the CD by pressing F6. Or allows you to create your own nLite installation disc and then you don't need the external floppy drive. Here you can download: [www.nliteos.com].
In addition you will find hundreds of discussions here in the forum about this audit as this!

Alternatively, you can install XP without AHCI drivers if you change the mode in the compatible BIOS. But some users here reported that the AHCI mode is faster

  • Satellite L500 - cannot flash BIOS

    Hi all

Looking for help here - I have a series of Satellite L500 and the battery has recently stopped charging - from 3 hours to 0% - not charging not from one day to the next. Have you tried altering the eco of the settings button, by pressing power for 40 seconds and even a new power supply unit (we have these to my work), but nothing seems to work. The only thing I can do without buying a new battery is flashing the BIOS.

Problem: I get an error saying that the BIOS cannot be flashed because it has less than 10% of its power. An idea for a workaround?

I'm more inclined to buy a new laptop than to spend any money fix this one (CD drive and a USB port also stopped working) but try to maintain the old faithful.

    Any tips or advice?

    Thank you
    Bajar

To Flash the BIOS by using the version focused on winning, the battery must be charged.
If it s unloaded, the process of updating the BIOS would not start up.

But why you want to update the BIOS?
BIOS update does not resolve the problems with the drive CD/DVD or USB ports.

  • Re: Satellite L300 - cannot access BIOS

My daughter has a Satellite L300 suddenly failed so that on the net. Computer suddenly locked with the whitewashed display picture. Computer could not be shutdown and the task manager would not meet Alt, CTRL, DELETE.

Laptop was forcibly stopped with a 5 seconds press the power button followed of a reboot. The unit began to start the system, showing the "f2" Toshiba bios or f12 for boot selection, but not details. The "f2", or the f12 key had an effect - i.e. the parameters of the BIOS could not access with f2 & startup option has not posted with f12. Have a set of Toshiba Vista recovery disc I inserted the disc 1, forced another followed stop of a reboot. The disk ran upward and displays "Windows is loading files...". "with a progress below bar that gradually developed 100%, followed by the"Microsoft Corporation"logo with the loading above bar. This lasted a few minutes, but then only shows one arrow big mouse controlled. Disc 2 has never been called for, no program loaded and none were available.

The loss of access to the BIOS me was more concerned the inability to load Vista, but none are good.

I'm calling on the cell phone of the guru to help me with this baffling problem - HELP!

    Hello

Normally you can access the BIOS if you press the F2 key once you have turned on your laptop. Press on and hold this key until you are in the BIOS menu.

If you can boot from the recovery disc, it should be possible to access the BIOS because it passes the BIOS self-test and until there is no hardware problem.

If you connect an external keyboard, you can access the BIOS? An alternative you can also try to press F12 for the boot menu.

You can also try this, if nothing else works:

  • Satellite C660 - cannot install BIOS 1.50

    Hey.

I just bought a new Satellite C660 24 hours. I have installed all updates and programs for the PC to run more smooth, but I can not install the Bios 1.50. It gives me an error when I try to install it.
When I go to see the latest version of the bios it say it is 1.20.

    How can this be repaired?

    See you soon.

    Hey,.

Why do you update the BIOS? You have problems with your new laptop C660?
I mean the BIOS update is always a bit risky, so I just wanted to update so it s really necessary, otherwise the BIOS update is not important and you can forget it.

Just have fun with your new laptop computer and enjoy! :)

  • Downgrade BIOS on Satellite A210-183

    I need your help.

I must downgrade BIOS from 1.80 to the previous version. I have haveproblem with my sound card (not recognizing the device now).

    Hello!

It is not possible to downgrade the BIOS version, because only the most recent BIOS is available on the European driver Toshiba page.

As far as I know that an ASP (authorized service provider) would be able to downgrade the BIOS.

However, the new BIOS that is available on the Toshiba page should make no trouble.
In your case I would recommend you first access the BIOS and set the defaults.

  • Satellite A300: cannot start: blocked by Phoenix TrustedCore Setup Utility

    {SUMMARY: "Phoenix TrustedCore Setup Utility" appears every time you start, requesting a non-existent password.} How to get rid of this request? }

This one is a little weird. We have a Tosh Satellite A300-193 mobile (Code manufacturer: PSAJ1E-01000XEN) purchased from July 2008 (via Getech educational scheme). We have (had) Kaspersky Anti-virus on this subject, but since his license has expired (and they didn't really like it), I was going to remove and install Avast.

Kasperky removal instructions involve have their tool "kavremove" who say their instructions must be run in safe mode. So, after downloading the tool, I pressed F8 to boot into safe mode...

... And that's where things went wrong. Instead of typical black screen startup options screen, I got a splash screen at the level type, with a request for password of "Phoenix TrustedCore Setup Utility. We have never set a password on this computer, and I've never seen this particular screen before. After three bad guess (of course they're wrong!, and it does not matter if I leave the field blank), the unit turns off.

Now when I turn it on, it just goes right to the request for password of Phoenix: I hit F2, F12, F8 or whatever it is. I can't establish why it should do, or how I can possibly bypass it. None of my password guess work (of course).

I googled for hours (literally), closes the thing, I could find were instructions in [a post on the forum USA | http://forums.toshiba.com/t5/Windows-Vista-Windows-XP/Satellite-A205-Cannot-Access-BIOS/m-p/123075#M7749]. It was a partial solution: we can start the machine with this procedure (phew!).

Unfortunately, it is not a permanent solution. After EACH stop, at the next start-up presents impossible demand "password." So it comes to pull the battery (again), to the phase of "discharging", battery, turn on and - it boots. Or at least, he has every time so far.

This is going to be extremely painful. Any tips or to tackle the problem of pointers, which would be welcome. I will never see this request for password "Setup Utility".

    Thank you!
    David

    Hello

I think the password loss is the BIOS password.
I m wondering why this password is displayed when starting if you have not set it

However, the point is that the BIOS password can be removed if you n t know this password.
Unknown BIOS password can be removed by a Toshiba authorized service partner.

  • Satellite P875-31Z - cannot remove McAfee Security Center

Hey there, I have a little problem, and so far, I have not been able to solve.

I was helping a friend who is not as tech savvy like buying me a laptop, and he bought the Satellite P875-31Z.

Now, it comes with preloaded software McAfee.
I was able to uninstall most of the unwanted Mcafee software, but McAfee Security Center won't go away.

It appears in the windows 8 'remove program' - list, it does not appear in the list of app store windows, and even the McAfee Consumer Product Removal Tool (Development) get rid of it. Well, she at least got rid of photo tile, now it's just a blank tile.

It is part of some software from Toshiba and I have to remove some software that is also crucial for the proper functioning of, say, the function keys?

Push me a little crazy, first time, that I could not get rid of software ^^

I m wondering really you have this problem. On my laptop Win8 Satellite preinstalled under programs and features, there are two outcomes for McAffe:

McAffe anti-theft and McAffe internet Security. I imagine that the same has to be on this P875 too.
What needs to be done is the removal of McAffe Internet security. After restarting the laptop remove anti-theft McAffe and uninstall McAffe Security advisor, placed on the desktop (right click). All that s.

    I did the same thing.

  • Satellite A105-S361 - update Bios do DVD cannot reboot

    Hi all.

    I have a Satellite A105 S361. I guess I got the BIOS 1.70 software.
because there are two possible updates for her in the Toshiba download website.

So, I've recently updated my BIOS v2.0. In fact, he warned that after the update
It would be impossible to return to v1.70, but I never thought that it might cause some
    problems.

After the update, now I am unable to boot from the DVD-ROM. I tried
change the boot priority in the bios, by pressing 'C' (stands for CD)
in the trunk to the top, also press F12 to bring the boot list. Also
I tried with my recovery cd and about 5 linux CD bootable.
None of this has been successful and if I remember the update of the BIOS
and eliminate the possibilities, which can be the cause of the problem.

Then I'd be extremely grateful some hep with this issue to make it possible
to boot from the DVD ROM.

    Best regards.

As far as I know, this series laptop designed for the American market and as a result, you must use the BIOS from the Toshiba page we.
I hope you have done it and used the good BIOS. Bad or not compatible BIOS can do some problems!

However, the fact is that it of not possible to reverse the BIOS to the primitive version on the simply average. In your case, that only a technician of the ASP was able to help you but I wonder how the BIOS update would affect booting from the CD/DVD drive. IF the CD/DVD drive has been recognized and then a boot from CD or DVD should be possible.

You attempted to set the BISO default settings? Check it!
BUR if it doesn t help has then contact ASP in your country!

  • Satellite L50 - C - 29V BIOS 1.50 downgrade to 1.20

    Hello

    Anyone know if
    (a) the laptop allows firmware downgrades?
the old firmwares b) are stored somewhere publicly?

    Best regards, Timo

    Hello

    Why would you do that?

Your is a new pc was released end of 2015 if I'm not mistaken. And if I'm right, he made out with 1.50v bios already. Since you did not already done a bios update and are good all workers, why would you want a downgrade to a version which had never been installed on your machine?

Be really carefully when it came to an update or the bios down since it can make your machine does not work properly or does not work. This isn't an OS upgrade/downgrade... I hope that you understand that the bios should do to a machine.

    Now to answer you:

    (a) I don't know
    (b) http://support.toshiba.com/support/v...tentId=4004549 (this may help, but be careful because this isn't for your machine!)

    GL

PS: I am a user that you are, and I assume no responsibility in case your downgrade bios does not.

  • Satellite 3000 - x 11: Solution of the update of the Bios from 1.0 to 1.6

Just thought id post this solution.
I picked up on a thread that has been locked on those who aren't able to update their bios from 1.0 to 1.6 (I got this message too) saying that the bios was bad and then bombed out.

I found the solution - that is to say, it worked for me.
Create a boot disk standard win 98 and then edit the "config.sys" file and replace himem.sys part to stop this commissioning. Start the laptop on a floppy disk and then pass readers to one that you have created for the bios. Then, type "phlash.exe/n bios.rom" by using the switch "/ n" ignores the control and flashes even when.

It worked for me. Just thought that id knowledge share.

Thanks for this information. It is perhaps useful to those who try to update the BIOS on this unit

  • Satellite Pro A110 - in BIOS exclamation Point in front of the HARD drive

    Satellite A110 Pro PSAB1C-GM80XE

Question is this. SATA CONTROLLER TOAST the laptop?

    Story.

It seems as if the laptop hard drive has failed.
Prior to the laptop, it would get BSOD.
It would, however, go back to windows XP.

After that, sometimes it wouldn't restart, he would try to boot from lan as if there is no hard drives.
    I check the bios.

There is a! in front of the model of the drive. I can't change it, reset default does not change.
No update of the bios was already made.
Page drivers laptop says I have to install the update to the bios from windows xp... I can't do it of course.

I bought a new hard drive for the laptop. WD Scorpio Blue (pretty standard) 160Gig

The laptop recognize model to drive hard in the bios, but once again with the exclamation point in front of the name of the template.

BIOS can see, but nothing else. No windows CD is able to watch the HD.

Once again, it is the sata controller or can someone point me to an update of the bios I can do with a USB key.
Should I just throw the laptop in the trash? I expect to give it a new life with a new hard drive and own bones.

    Hello

What is the BSOD STOP Code?

If 0x0000007B, it means that Windows cannot find a SATA driver for the SATA controller. To solve this BSOD, set the SATA Mode in the BIOS in "COMPATIBILITY" mode, or use a USB floppy with the SATA driver on this subject during the installation of Windows. Press F6 when you are prompted to install a 3rd party storage driver.

Or otherwise, to use the original Toshiba Recovery disk to install Windows.

I do not mean the exclamation point in the BIOS that the HARD drive is faulty, it means that the HARD drive has the highest priority boot on my laptop.

    Hello

I own a Toshiba Satellite L670 running on Ubuntu Linux. I want to update my bios from version 1.00 to last version 2.30.

But the site offers serverals versions window and one version of the OS "independent." I downloaded it and the .zip file contains only an .exe file I can't use with Linux.

How can I update my bios? Not there at - it no .bin file?

    Thank you.

This Toshiba laptop model no is not supported for Linux and all offered stuff on the download page are designed for the Windows operating system only if you cannot update BIOS if you use the failure to take in charge of operating system.

Anyway, if there is a problem with your laptop BIOS update is not necessary.
