Satellite Pro 430CDT - Win98SE upgrades

I just dusted the cobwebs off my Satellite Pro Windows 98SE 430CDT. I would like to add a DVD player and USB ports and I hope that someone else has already walked this path.

My questions are - has enough grunt to run the DVD? There was a never a DVD player that has replaced the slot-in CD player or connect the floppy drive? That are ports of the PCMCIA Cardbus compatible (IE 32 bit)? Win 98SE must support USB - can I add USB connectivity with a serial port or PCMCIA USB adapter?

Wow you have a Sat Pro 430CDT? This laptop is about 10 years old!
As far as I know that it supports a maximum 48 MB memory!
Please don t me crazy to me, but why you want to update this book and wasting money! I think it s not worth. But it's your choice!

If you want to upgrade the DVD - rom drive, you must contact the ASP for a compatible. Not all readers are supported because different master/slave/c-salt settings.

If you want to use the USB port I recommend buying a Toshiba PA2711U Replicator of ports that need to be compatible with the Sat Pro 430 CDT
http://www.etech4sale.com/TOSHIBA_PA2711U_PORT_REPLICATOR/PA2711U/PARTINFO-ID-116903.html#

or you buy a PCMCIA Type II or type III PCMCIA card with the USB function.

greetings.

  • Satellite Pro 4300 - memory upgrade problem

    Hello

I know that the issue has been already discussed several times, but it seems that none of the solutions or suggestions posted earlier apply to my situation.
I recently bought an old Toshiba Satellite Pro 4300. The laptop has a slot filled memory of 64 MB module of the system's total memory was 128 MB.
Because in my opinion, the system has worked to slow down, I decided to buy an additional memory module. I bought 128 MB - module TOSHIBA PA3005U k and placed in the slot B

I was very surprised when I found that, after the upgrade, Windows showed that the total memory is 192 MB.
When I put the 128 MB in the slot module is and the old module of 64 MB in the slot B - the surprise was even bigger, given that windows showed only 128 MB.

I first thought that the slot B is defective, but in this case, it would be impossible to get in the first place the 192 MB. Then I thought that the new module of memory was either defective or it was 64 MB instead of 128 MB, but this option is also likely, according to my observations. Furthermore, I checked with EVEREST software system and it recognizes the new module as 128 MB module, but does not see the old 64 MB module.

The situation is quite strange. Does anyone has an idea whay happens?

    Kind regards

    Sebastian

To my knowledge, the 4300 Satellite Pro can be upgraded to 320 MB max.
    http://www.orcalogic.co.UK/ASP/ProdType.asp?ProdType=5769&ft=m&St=3

64 MB module which was fitted with your laptop should not be removable.
So in this slot ONLY this 64 MB module could work properly.

I know it's strange but the computer world is sometimes strange ;) you know :D

  • Satellite Pro P300 - BIOS upgrade to 64 - bit

    Hello

I have a Satellite Pro P300 - 266 PSPCDE and I am very happy with him.

Since I have a WIN7 64 bit OS, ready to use and 8 GB of RAM I need to update the BIOS to 64-bit.

I found a WinPhlash file on the support site of Toshiba (toshiba - tro.de) bios called - 20090226124829.zip. I tried to use it as described in the Toshiba support on the use of WinPhlash (http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD9502M10000R01.htm) page. Also, I made an exception for WinPhlash in the registry of the DEP.

    It still does not work.

Since I am a user knowing very mediocre modern computers I guess I'm doing something wrong or I can be monitor something... can anyone please help me upgrade my system to its full capabilities?

    Thank you

    Aernout

You don't need to upgrade BIOS. If everything works well don t change anything.
I have Satellite P300 with preinstalled Win7 32 bit and works perfectly.

How do your shopping with the 64-bit version?

  • Satellite Pro 4600, memory upgrade

I have twice had problems trying to upgrade memory to my Satellite Pro 4600, so I decided to ask directly if Kingston KTC-SO133/256 MB is compatible with this machine?

It's the SODIMM I'm about to try next, but I have to pay for it first.

Problems were that the SODIMM modules is not compatible with the wonderful piece of memory or it won't work at all with Toshiba.

Is there an availave list what type of bars of memory are compatible?

Sorry, I can tell you that I use the Original from Toshiba 'PA3069U - 1 M 25' memory (its a KIT of MEMORY of 256 MB)

    works great!

  • Satellite Pro C660 - possible upgrade to 8 GB of RAM?

    Hello

I recently bought a PSC0MA Satellite Pro C660-01K00V from a seller online with guarantee all covered. He came like a usual model would come like but with 6 GB of RAM. I thought it was a great buy so I bought it.

After it happened, I looked at the specs on the website and it said that the max is 4 GB of RAM. I don't know what happened. The memory in the machine is 1 x 4 GB Kingston 1 x Samsung (original).

Could you tell me what it is and if I can probably not even 8 GB hold?

    Hi foolman555,

Why you n t according to the official specs?

Satellite Pro C660 has Intel GL40 Express Chipset and the chipset is limited to 4 GB of RAM. This means that your laptop supports only 4 GB of RAM and no more.

But usually 4 GB is enough for most applications, and I don't see a reason why a 6 GB upgrade would be so important ;)

  • Satellite Pro L10 Memory Upgrade

    Hello

    I have a Satellite Pro L10 Celeron M Processor 360 1.4 GHz / XP HE / 256 MB / 40 GB / 15TFT / DVD-CDRW / OneNote. I wanted to upgrade the RAM, and I noticed that in the manual it says:

Before installing a new module memory 512 MB do not forget to remove already installed memory modules.

Does that mean that I can not install a 512 MB module and more the 256 MB is already a total of 768 MB?

    Thanks for any advice,

    Luis

    Hi Luis,.

The specifications of your laptop indicates that it can accept up to 1 024 MB of RAM. If you have 2 RAM slots, so you can use any combination of modules of RAM as long as you do not exceed the maximum quotes. Of course if you have only 1 RAM slt then you must remove the original 256 MB module before insert you new 512 MB a.

  • Satellite Pro L100 CPU upgrade

    Hello

    The hope for some advice.

I recently bought a Satellite Pro L100 of second hand, came up with the following configuration.

Celeron M 370, 256 MB Ram, 40 GB drive HARD, Win XP

As the laptop is out of warranty, I disassembled the laptop and upgraded to the following specification.

    Pentium M 735 (SL7EP), 2 GB of Ram, disk HARD 40, Win 7 Ultimate

Everything seems to work perfectly, but he hopes to upgrade the processor more far, to maybe a Core Duo.

I noticed on the Toshiba datasheet (* http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/Contents/Toshiba_uk/EN/Others/SatProL100datasheet.pdf *) for the L100, the configuration of this laptop back to a Core Duo 2400 (though on the motherboard PSLA1)

Only problem I can see is the Core Duo 2400 only comes in a FC-µBGA package, while the L100 seems to have a CF-µPGA socket, a CF-µBGA CPU will correspond to a socket FC-µPGA?

Also, does anyone know if the PSLA4 in my L100 motherboard supports a front side bus to 667 or 533 MHz?

I sent Toshiba direct support - but unfortunately they have advised that because they haven't tested any other CPU on the laptop that they cannot advise me - seems a bit strange response given that they use multiple configurations on the same motherboard.

    Thanks a lot, Vaughn.
    S.Wales, UK.

    > Also, does anyone know if the PSLA4 in my L100 motherboard supports a front side bus to 667 or 533 MHz?

    It depends on the chipset.
As much as I know the laptop supports Mobile Intel® 945GM Express Chipset
    http://Ark.Intel.com/products/chipsets/22816

According to the page Intel chipset supports MHz 533/667 MHz FSB and 4 GB RAM support

  • Satellite Pro M10 HDD Upgrade - how will work?

    Hello

I have a question I have a Satellite Pro M10 (PS630E-G207W-GR) and I want to change the hard drive to a 120 GB + HARD drive so I called the Supporthotline because I need the Windows CD and they mean that would work with a new HARD drive, because the Bios does not the new HARD drive, and he was not told why. Now the question is, if it works with an update of the bios, or if maybe there is already a person here with a working 100 GB + HDD from the laptop.

and sorry for my very bad English

    Hello

If you are not satisfied with the answers provided by the support, you can also try to communicate with several independent services for hardware upgrade. As far as I know, they are able to manipulate the BIOS to work with hard disks are not supported. Maybe this solution is for you.

At least on this forum, you can find topics where users of laptops repost on an improvement of HARD drive (more than 100 GB) successfully with older models as your M10. You can order 120 GB of HARD drive and try to use it. If this does not work you can send it back. To do this, you have about 14 days. Test it!

  • Satellite Pro 4360 Ram upgrades

Hello, this is my first post

I have a satellite pro 4360 with 256 meg of ram can be updated at least 512 I have 1 spare ram slot if so, what is the ram details I need IE 144 pins etc.

    Thank you very much

    Hello

The 4360 Pro Satellite came with 64 MB internal memory and this memory in not removable.
As you have already said, there is only a slot that is expandable.

In any case... it seems that it of not possible to upgrade memory up to 512 MB.
You can upgrade the memory to 320 MB (64 MB internal memory + 256 MB external memory). There is a limit.

I found a very useful page that confirms this info:
    http://www.orcalogic.co.UK/ASP/ProdType.asp?ProdType=5775&ft=m&St=3

PS: I forgot to say that the laptop supports the SODIMM 144 pin PC100

  • Satellite Pro 6000 RAM upgrade problems

Apologies for multiple - originally, I put this in the Satellite rather than the Satellite Pro series Forum.

I have an old Satellite Pro 6000 that has 256 MB of RAM in it, and accordingly, as he tries harder sound, it is not the fastest machines.

I want to increase the RAM to 1 GB, which I believe is the maximum and 2 sticks of memory of 512 MB PC133 CL3 3.3V, which I think should work fine.

However, I tried to install either as a pair or separately, with the 256 MB of RAM, and when I put the memory in, the PC resolutely refuses to start. The lights of power lights, but it is only it works.

I put the original 256 MB of RAM in the slot, and it works fine.

I'm something wrong or missing something?

    Any help appreciated gratefully.

    Hello

    > Am I something wrong or missing something?
Of course, you use the memory bad or is not compatible!

Initialization not after an upgrade of memory is a common behavior if the modules are not compatible or do not work.

You can upgrade the memory to 1024 MB (2x512MB) max and page Toshiba should run these modules:
    PC133 512 MB (PA3108U - 1 M 51)
    PC133 256 MB (PA3086U - 1 M 25)
    PC133 128 MB (PA3085U - 1 M 12)

  • Satellite Pro 4600: HDD upgrade question

    Hello.

I decided to upgrade my Satellite Pro 4600 a 20 GB hard drive to a 60 gig.
Only, I get a blank screen.
When I go back my 20 original concert, it works well.
Y at - it a special procedure for the Assembly of the larger disks?

The BIOS recognizes the HARD drive correctly?

Perhaps the size of the HARD drive is too big and so you have a few problems with the laptop.

The fact is that not all HARD drive sizes are supported and the BIOS recognizes all drives, if the size is too large. Therefore, you should try a smaller HARD drive
