Satellite Pro 490 CDT: THE BSOD VFAT DEVICE INITIALIZATION FAILED

Hello...

. Heres a beauty for you... I hope someone can help... here go us.

Loan of laptop to grandson... came back... lots of files were missing.
Managed to get the BIOS with ESC and F1... and got m/c start CD player. with W98 drive in

ScanDisk fixed a lot, a lot of probs... then to start to reinstall W98.

Stupid me thought that I wonder if he will now start without having to reinstall windows.

Turned on / turned off... now I'm stuck.

Immediately get the bluescreen...

* VFAT DEVICE INITIALIZATION FAILED.*

* A DEVICE OR RESOURCE REQD. BY VFAT IS NOT PRESENT OR IS NOT AVAILABLE. VFAT CANNOT CONTINUE TO LOADING.*

* HALTED.* SYSTEM

Computer portable primer not cd player where the BIOS has been the last value.
Can I not access the Bios with ESC and F1 like last time.
It doesn't matter what I do... I can't get this screen or boot in the bios.

I hear the cd drive spin upward with the W98 CD in but still the same blue screen of death with the message above.
If I can't go beyond that message or access the bios... what should I do please? /

How can I get past this screen and reinstall windows

I hope you can help...

Thank you

Hello

The fact is that you have laptop for 10 years and I really wonder if anyone here has any experience with this good old classic.
If you are unable to enter BIOS, the situation is quite serious. You may have Floppy drive for this laptop?

I know it as an irrelivent bits to your problem, but I suggest that you invest in a USB key. They are pretty well the replacement disks are much more portable than a CD.

  • Search for USB driver for Satellite Pro 460 CDT

I own an old Satellite Pro 460 CDT including enhanced Port Replicator III (P1, 166 MHz), installed is Windows 2000 SP 4.

Manager device shows me there is a problem with the USB controllers, there is an "unsupported NEC USB-to-PCI-Openhost-Controller", the driver has not been installed by Windows. Uninstall and new material research will not change anything.

USB is necessary for the intended use.

Then, is less for a driver job?

    Hi, Ralf

Problem is that this device is not supported for Win 2000 and load on the Toshiba download page, you will not find anything. I know, this unit is about 10 years old and I think you expect a little too much of this good old classic.

If you want to use with a maximum and preinstalled well performance install support OS Win 95. For Win 95, you will find all the drivers and tools on Toshiba download page.

  • Satellite Pro 430 CDT - boot disk problems

I have a toshiba satellite pro 430 cdt which I am trying to re - install windows 95 (I have win 95 on cd) on with no luck at the moment.

I downloaded the two files from bootdisk from www.bootdisk.com, win95a and win95b, but have neither the right cd rom driver, so then I got put www.driverguide.com driver this driver on startup disk and change the config file to use the correct driver and I always get the message that no driver for cd rom drive was found.

I don't know if the cd rom drive no longer works, even if the green light on the side flashes when you eject the disc that told me that things seem ok (maybe wrong here however). I have the cd rom plugged into the Bay on the right side of the machine (internal) and drive in the caddy it is connected on the left side of the machine (external) and even if I swap them on the cd rom drive does not work but the floppy drive works in two ways. If the connector edge on the cd rom drive doesn't work properly or the drive itself is shot.

If I remember correctly when the boot disk works correctly it should give you 3 or 4 options (don't remember that it was a long time ago I finally did, and I did not work boot disc, DOH!), which one should be something like, "install windows with the cd rom support" or something like that.

Once I get this I am ok I have win 95 on cd, and it is quite simple installation there from there that I built a few pc and installed different versions of windows with no true front hassels.

Did he have the same machine as me (uk version) and able to compress all the files on a boot floppy from win 95 work and e-mail it to me?

Or just files autoexec.bat and config.sys are all I really need (as long as they work those). Anyone know anywhere I can get my hands on one set of diskettes originally supplied with the machine that I seem to have lost mine, I think there were two or three players but no windows cd, I bought my copy (legit) from a computer fair years.

Will provide you with my e-mail address later if necessary.

    Thanx

    Steve Jones

    Hi Steve

I found the information that the device was shipped with 10 x player XM - 1502-B.

    Check this box:
    http://www.cdrom-drivers.com/companies/1066.htm

There you can find a lot of drivers for different units. But maybe it's something wrong with the occupation of s PIN. In addition, you can ask the service partner for advice.

  • Satellite Pro 490 update BIOS

My Satellite Pro 490 Notebook refuses to start recently and demanded an update of the BIOS. I checked on the Toshiba site for advice and downloaded the correct BIOSware on another computer. I created a bootdisk BACK (on advice) and saved the BIOSware to this, and I started the laptop with the parallel diskette in the external floppy drive.

He whirred and buzzed and seemed to do its thing, but when I stopped and restarted for WinXP, it was not recognizing my kepboard or integrated mouse. He sometimes recognizes a USB external mouse, but he doesn't always know what I want to do : o ( )

So I did it once again, this time, after you restart with the floppy in the drive, he bed 'to go '. "and shows me the gubbins of copyright of Microsoft Corporation and then takes me to the A:\ command prompt and still does not recognize my kepboard or the mouse, just the weird key here and there.

Before I got the ban at the end og the garden, is - someone give me advice? Is there anything else I could try? Anything? =o r

  • Satellite Pro 4600 - installing the Audio driver for Win98 SE

    Hi all

    I m new here.

I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro 4600 abandoned and I put Win98 SE edition on it.

The problem I have is I can download the audio driver, but when it comes for her, he asks me a yahama cd that installs, I think its 4 or 5 drivers from the cd. I currently do not have this cd so I was wondering how to get around this problem.

    Thank you for reading

    Tony

    Hello

I found the Win 98SE driver sound for the Satellite Pro 4600 on the European driver Toshiba page.
You have to look in the folder to ARCHIVE.

http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com-> support download &-> download drivers

    He choose: * Archives-> Satellite Pro-> Satellite Pro 46xx-> Satellite Pro 4600-> Win 98SE *.

In addition to information of Yamaha audio driver, you can find these details:
+ A wide range of audio controls are possible using this audio driver, including: Software Synthesizer, the microphone volume, 3D development and management Power +.

So I think that this driver should help you!

  • New Satellite Pro stuck in the cycle of configuration

I'm not computer savvy, so that makes me NUTS!

I just got a new satellite Pro through insurance. I turned it on and it says to its implementation for the first use. Then there are a variety of options for me to click, but does not give me enough time to read what they are still in front of a "System Configuration" screen comes up and takes over. When this is done, it is said do not press the button of the mouse and then log off and stops. Then it restarts and the foregoing goes everywhere again... its repetition on! and keep it doing so again and again and again for well over an hour now! I can't do anything with it!

    What should I do?

    Hi anotherhopeful,

To be honest, I think that no one here can say something, if you put the model of cell four t post. There are many Satellite Pro models on the market so that it says nothing

From my own experience, I can say that Windows 7 installation takes a long time and your computer will reboot 10 times or more. Then, you may need to wait a little longer until the installation is finished.

    Hello

Just my old laptop slung and bought a 2nd hand, Satellite Pro A10 and have reformatted and installed my existing copy of XP home that uses the SP1, I managed to find all drivers I need except for the "USB Controller" and 2 instances of "Base system device".

I can't find the USB driver anywhere, nor do I have any idea what a 'Base system device' is, any help greatly appreciated as its delay my work :/

    Thank you

    Hello

I do not understand why you changed the operating system. I think XP Prof is the best version of Windows XP.

Anyway, you can find all the necessary drivers on the utility CD & tools and programs. Drivers for XP Home and teacher are the same. On the CD drivers and programs are listed in the order. Follow this order during installation to avoid conflicts. And always reboot the system if necessary.

    Good bye

  • Satellite Pro A300 can not find USB devices

    Hello forum,.

We have a customer who bought a Toshiba Satellite Pro A300 with us, but he gets a strange mistake about it.
It connects to a hub 5port Sandberg USB 2.0 to one of the usb ports, the pc detects the hub, but when it connects a /Memory stick to the hub, nothing happens.
the hub and the memory stick works on other PCs.

    I hope someone can help.

    Best regards

    John Bork
    DANBIT A/S

    Hello

What happens if you connect the memory stick directly without this USB hub?
I also had a USB hub, but these hubs are a little complicated and delicate USB specification allows a certain power and according to the devices that connect, you need to use an active USB hub, that means with external power supply.

But normally, Satellite Pro A300 should have enough USB ports if it of needed, I would recommend a USB hub with 2 or 3 maximum ports

  • Re: Satellite Pro L40 - killed the laptop BIOS update

Recently I thought it would be better to download the latest drivers and upgrades for my Satellite pro L40 to keep up-to-date and partners the laptop that works smoothly. I couldn't have worse summer. Before I updated the new driver updates I thought it would be a good idea first update the Bios. So I downloaded the update of the Bios on the Toshiba site, unzipped the files and followed the online instructions for updating the BIOS. I double clicked on the BIOS file to run the update, the laptop says it was end the session, I waited and the Toshiba logo screen came. In the instructions, it says that I have to press F2 now and confirm that the date and time are correct. I should then press F9 to load all the default values and then press F10 to save and exit. At this point, the laptop must away to the loading screen, but... I got a black screen. IV turned off the computer and turn it back on, but still, I get a blank screen. The lights are on but know one's home.

Could a mod/staff/Board Toshiba administrator please explain to me why I'm going to draw the consequences of my lack full on my face because I followed a form of direct teaching of personnel of Toshiba or... Please run me through the process of bring back my cell partners in life, before that I get my Crown snatched jewels. This isn't a laugh. An upgrade directly from the manufacturer is not intended to cause you problems!

Please get back to me as soon as POSSIBLE. My first son moments of life (videos, photos) are on this laptop. That cannot be replaced. Please tell me that the laptop can be fixed...

    Hello Durks

I'm really sorry to hear you I have this problem.
To be honest, it is not easy to discuss about this because a lot of people on this forum with a similar or same problem reacts quite aggressive if they don t hear exactly the thing they want to hear.

In any case, I just want to write my comment. Don t be worried about photos and other important data. You can remove the laptop HARD drive, put it in a small box of HDD SATA 2.5 and connect the HARD drive to the other PC / laptop as external device. You will have full access to all stored data. So you can do the backup.

    Update the BIOS.
What to say at this point?
I have checked the Toshiba download page and saw that the BIOS update is available for Windows XP Home edition and Vista pre-installed notebooks so I hope you ve chosen the right one. Anyway, it is not easy to fix screwed up in the BIOS. You hate me now, but I think you should contact the nearest Toshiba service provider and ask for help. Call them, explain the situation and ask what you can do about it.

I hope you will fix this laptop soon.

    Good luck.

  • Satellite Pro M10 displays the characters currupt at startup

I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro M10 that collapsed. When the system boots, the Toshiba logo seems to have a few points here and there. When displaying messages on the screen during startup, the characters seem corropted. For example, the message "Insert system disk", I and T of the insertion of the word seems to be half upper ASCII characters. The system S is the "less than or equal to sign." and the k of the scratch disk is {.} I already did the following:

-tried to start with one of my two memory card and I tried the two memory cards.
    -swapped my memory card.
    -reloaded windows and Linux

I have dropped it once but worked OK for a month after I dropped it. I deleted the operating system, but now seems to have problems to load a CD operatig system (CD works OK). Anyone have an idea what is wrong?

    Thank you
    Peter Loo

    Hello

You suggested that the cell phone dropped twice.
Well, you can try to connect the external monitor to the laptop to see if it s a screen failure or malfunction of the graphics card.

You have problems with the installation of the OS? Maybe there's something wrong with the disk and the HARD disk. But maybe only loses connection is responsible for the problems. Check the pins.

It is possible that the screen and other devices was damage due to falling down.
