Satellite Pro 6100 slowy starting after crashing

My Satellite Pro crashed recently and since then has worked ridiculously slowly, not only in windows, but start upward. Any ideas on what I can check to see what the problem is and we hope to resolve this?

Hello

What do you mean by crashed?
Replace a few parts such as HARD drive?
Usually if Notepad starts slowly, you should check the boot order in the BIOS.
Try disconnecting additional devices if you have connected some external devices to the laptop.

In addition, you can try running chkdsk to check the HARD disk for errors.

    Hi guys

I'm not sure but I think the BIOS update can fix this. Have you already checked if there is a new update of the BIOS for your unit?

  • Satellite Pro 6100 - problem starting (light flashing Orange)

On my laptop Satellite Pro 6100, seeing DC IN (first on the left) flashes orange and the laptop does nothing else (no display or sound). The light flashes for 8 times, has a long pause and then starts all over again.

I tried a different adapter with no joy. It does the same thing if you use only the battery and if you run from the adapter without the battery.

The only time wherever it shows a different light is when you take the battery out, put back in and hold the power button. Led Slim Select Bay (second right) briefly turns green, but it turns off and the led DC IN resumption of the orange blink.

It seems likely that it is an internal hardware problem (power supply, motherboard, etc.). Does anyone have any ideas? And as anyone knows anywhere which lists all the different orange light codes for Toshiba laptops?

    Hi André,.

You are right in thinking that there is a hardware failure (most likely your motherboard). Flashing codes are used by service technicians to indicate the nature of the fault and I have yet to find anywhere who publishes the real meaning of these codes.

I think it looks like a trip to the nearest Service Agent. :-(

  • Satellite Pro 6100 cannot start - message PXE - E61 and PXE - MOF

My dad just bought me a satellite pro 6100 for United off ebay and when I turn it on the toshiba screen comes up, followed by: PXE - E61 and PXE - MOF. as I am a total blank computer I have not a clue what to do! any ideas...? :)

    Hello Naomi

Don t worry, it sounds not very badly. I think that you will solve this problem by changing some settings in the BIOS. ;)

To my knowledge, this message appears when the LAN option has been fixed at the beginning of the boot order. So solve this problem to get into the BIOS (ESC and F1) and then change the order of Boot CD Drive drive HARD etc...
Please set the LAN at the end.

  • Satellite Pro 400CDT not start after the display of a stack

I have the same problem as this post:

    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=16837

    Is there a solution yet?

It is with a very old laptop 400CDT Satellite that I use to pay my car. What happened, I lay laptop running on battery until it went flat and now I can't start laptop with or without battery (and connected a/c)... turns on, it don't think light for 1 second, but nothing on the screen?

    What this may be?

No one can tell you with certainty what can be the problem. We can only speculate, but just after the exact diagnosis laptop you can find more information. As you can see in another thread, there is no universal solution, and I assume that you need professional help.

BTW: one thing I didn t understand. When you turn on your laptop, don't stay laptop but nothing showed on the screen or the computer laptop immediately switches off the POWER?

    Hi jam

Price, we can only speculate because I heard that it is not the same for each service. Unfortunately, we have a? free help? and all licensed services can offer own prices. Contact the nearest service and ask how much will cost the cheque or the exchange of the CMOS battery.

  • Satellite Pro 6100: blue screen after overheating problem

My laptop overheats a year ago and since then I can only use it for about an hour at a time. First sign, it's going to blue screen, it's the hard drive starts clicking and about 5 minutes later, he dies.
Let it cool down for a few hours, then it is well again. It is not the disc hard as I tested it in another laptop.

    Any ideas?
I desperately need to work again, it has been the best laptop I've ever owned, and I hate the idea of having to buy a new one with a touchpad.

    Hello

Generally, the laptop overheats because the cooling module may not work correctly.
I guess that the blue screen appears because of the overheating.
In this case, I would recommend checking the cooling fans. Fans cannot work properly because of the dust and debris.
The use of the vacuum cleaner is the best way to clean the fans.
    But be careful.

In addition, the square around the laptop must be free. It is important that fans can take a breath.

  • Satellite Pro 6100 - after updating the BIOS, it does not

    Hello

I am trying to upgrade my old of Satellite Pro 6100.

I started to upgrade the Bios via download from Toshiba (using WIN) site - OK downloaded zip files and installed, machine then stops. Problem, it does not restart - it's so now I have a laptop 'death' that is not responding to any key I tried.

    Any suggestions of resuscitation?

Already I've updated from XP to SP2.

    Thank you

    Paul

    Hello

It sounds like that the BIOS update has failed and your laptop can start t again. But try this workaround:
Remove the AC adapter and the battery and then wait an hour. After that reconnect the adapter AC/DC and battery. Try to start the laptop.

If it doesn t work I think that the motherboard needs to be replaced or you go to an authorized service provider. Technicians can reflash the ROM module
But maybe you can find a motherboard of second hand cheap on eBay

    Good bye

  • Satellite Pro 6100 stops after 15-30 minutes

My satellite Pro 6100 Cup after 15 to 30 minutes of operation on power outlet. There is a noise and all the lights go out except orange slow flashing (power problem). I have restore by removing the power cable and wait a while.

It will then start again. I used two different adapters and two different batteries. It also happens if work on AC with no battery in the. My suspicion is an overheat cut-out. The Sat Pro has a? Could it be clogged with dust inside (it is 5 years old)? If yes how I clean. I don't think it's a fan failure because I can hear the fan cut in. Advice much appreciated. Thank you.

    > Could it be clogged with dust inside (it is 5 years old)? If yes how I clean. I don't think it's a fan failure because I can hear the fan cut in
I agree with you and the user SambadeAmigo. It seems like a simple problem of overheating and so the laptop automatically stops to prevent the equipment from damage

I assume that your laptop can be enabled again after being allowed to cool. It is a common question if the cooling modules may not work properly because of the dust and debris.
As suggested, it would be possible to remove dust using the can of compressed air.
    It should work.

    See you soon

  • Satellite Pro 6100: cannot get into the BIOS and does not start

I have a portable Satellite pro 6100, en I was trying to boot from an external USB hard drive. When I activated the second hard drive option in the BIOS it has stopped booting all in all, I can't even get into the BIOS Setup more. All I get is "In touch with tomorrow TOSHIBA" screen with the icons to select the method of priming preferred manually after it's just blank screen with a cursor blinking in the upper left.

Press ESC or F8 before to turn usually results in fast beeps sounds.
Press tilde (~) before turn is reflected in the remaining space screen (not even the home toshiba screen appears) and slow Zens sounds.

Apart from that I can't really do nothing at all.
I tried to reset the BIOS by disconnecting the battery CMOS/RTC (hoewever, we call it) of the motherboard for a while with no results.

Turn on/off without the results of HD internal in a white screen with an ERROR 'IDE #0.
I can always stop by pressing the power button, you don't have to bother on the external hard drive it past I don't even want it works more.

    Suggestions?

    Hello

I agree with Graeme. Your HARD drive is probably faulty. Sorry, but I don't think that you will be able to use the external HARD drive. The option in the BIOS is not for EXTERNAL HARD drive is just, I guess, for disk HARD placed in select Bay.

    Hello

I have a Satellite Pro 6100 when I press the power button and HDD lights up briefly then powerlight blinks.
It seems to Flash a pattern: on (2 sec) flashes (2 seconds) then off (about 8 times)

What he told me? No fan, no display no hardrive is active.
Food is ok because it load battery.
I bought it as it would be something easy to fix ideas?

    Hello

    It sounds bad
Generally, the power led will blink due to a malfunction of the equipment.
The LED provides a microcode and only the technician can read this code.
A common user is not able to read.

Maybe you'll be able to read this code, but you won't find any description about the meaning of the code.
I recommend you contact the technician in your country

    But try this:
Remove the battery and unplug the AC adapter.
Wait severla times and then plug in the battery and plug in the AC adapter.
If this does not help, you have aks, a complementary technician...

Check the system. Then press the [F1] key

    Hi Liam

Hmmm... I think it s not a Council but the battery of the CCF.
Take a look in the user manual. There you should find something that exactly the message is displayed if the battery RTC (BIOS) is not charged.

The RTC battery, you must connect the power adapter and should run the laptop for about 24 hours.
After that the main battery has been charged, then the RTC battery starts to load.

It will take a little longer.

  • Satellite Pro 6100 - battery acting very strange.

As mentioned in the title, my laptop battery is very strange.

    The symptoms are:

When the battery is flat after only 7-10 minutes he turns not, however if the battery is removed and placed in the laptop, the laptop will start as it has never happened.
Not only that, but the bonus after the first can indefinitely until this that loaded into an OS and immediately after starting start the laptop stops due to an apparent lack of power, when there is power always, enough to do the same thing again. Also, the battery can still start even after being just in a freezer.

This reacondioned back to normal battery or is this safe to use battery?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hello

I guess that your battery is old like machines of this Satellite Pro 6100 and maybe it can't be charged more. In this case, your battery should be replaced.

But even if the battery is faulty, you should be able to use the device connected to the power adapter.
So even if the battery is removed, you could power the unit with the mains.

Sorry for my English, I read a few post but exactly with my problems, there is no job.
Thanks in advance, it's a great laptop I jump to save it.

p.s. There is no dust on it, I tried to lift the keyboard to clean, but it was already clean, even behind the fan.

    Hello supertraz,

On 6100 laptop there is a soft spot between the control panel and from the motherboard, causing this malfunction. You will not be able to solve this problem simply raise your keyboard and blowing air into your laptop.

A good description on this problem (I had, too) can be found on this forum posted by user seintaxx here:
