Satellite Pro A100: Upgrading RAM void my warranty?

I just bought a Toshiba Satellite Pro A100 today and, having only 256mbRAM I want to update my 512 RAM. If I discover the RAM slots and replace it, this will void my warranty?

Thank you

(NB several opinions would be appreciated)

Hello

You warranty still valid. You can upgrade the memory without any problems, but you must use the right modules and supported.
As far as I know, these modules are compatible:
DDR2-533 256 MB (PA3389U - 2M 25)
512 MB DDR2-533 PA3412U - 2 M (51)
1 GB OF DDR2-533 (PA3411U-2M1G)

But are you sure you want to upgrade the memory of 512 MB?
AFAIK all already shipped with 512 MB.

  • Satellite Pro A10 - upgrade RAM

    Hello

I have an A10 with 512 MB DDR PC2100 CL2.5 Satellite Pro (266) and want to upgrade to 1024Mo with two sticks of 512 MB. The scanner memory Crucial sites says I can do it and PC2700 (333) too.

I bought the package and install, it worked for a day or so then wouldn't boot, no LOGO from BIOS Toshiba no tray DVD not free either. When I put the old RAM, things were ok. .

    So my question is really:

The A10 is able to use the RAM PC2700 as Crucial says he is or they is bad.
Textbooks do not give the answer.

Thanks in advance for any information on this problem.

I ve checked the specs of the laptop and it says that you can upgrade your laptop up to 1 GB of RAM and compatible RAM module for upgrade is PC2100 512 MB (PA3164U - 1 M 51). Check it please this part number. This module is 100% compatible and you can use it with an old man.

Maybe it sounds silly now but Crucial is not the best option. Many people have claimed about similar problems using critical modules.

  • Satellite Pro M50 - upgrade RAM does not fit

Hi, I'm looking to upgrade the ram in a Satellite Pro M50, I bought a stick of crucial but although he mounted in the slot (and was regarded as the correct product) machine didn't post with it, I bought another stick (different brand) and installed this but get the same problem. Looking at it, I noticed that the notch in the existing stick of 256 MB is a bit (a few mm) out against the new stick and of course although they fit into the slot, the actual pins on the stick won't line up properly.

Is this a known issue? Do I have to buy a specific brand of RAM in order to modernize the system? Crucial guarantee their RAM to work, very unusual that it didn't work that way for this system of tosh.

Thanks in advace to anyone who can enlighten us!

    GYS

    Hi GYS

S let speak quite clearly, for RAM upgrade, you must use compatible RAM modules. I hope you know what that means compatibility work.
So if you want to be sure you are using the right RAM modules and compatible I recommend modules memory live 1024Mo PC2700 to use with the PA3313U-2M1G part number.

You can upgrade your laptop up to 1 GB of RAM and using two of these modules, you will be able to use maximum RAM and also make sure that the Rams will be suitable for your system.

  • Satellite Pro A300 - upgrade RAM of the former model A200

    Hello

I need an advice. I just took a memory (Samsung) 1 GB of more old model Satellite A200 module and put it on my new model Satellite Pro A300. Here is the information about the SPD:

_Original (which has been installed in the factory): _

    DIMM1: Kingston (2 GB DDR2-667 DDR2 SDRAM)
    Manufacture Date week 20 / 2009
    @ 333 MHz 5-5-5-15 (CL-RCD-RP-RAS) / 20-43-3-5-3-3 (RC-RFC-RRD-WR-WTR-RTP)

_From old Toshiba Satellite A200: _

    DIMM3: Samsung M4 70T2953EZ3-CE6
    Manufacture Date week 42 / 2007

    @ 200 MHz 3-3-3-9 (CL-RCD-RP-RAS) / 12-21-2-3-2-2 (RC-RFC-RRD-WR-WTR-RTP)

According to the information provided was it a good or bad idea? I mean differences in the SPD and will this performance, stability, etc. ?

Thanks a lot for your time!

    Hi xosman,

According to the information that you have posted it seems that the other Satellite A200 module has the same specifications, so if your laptop works with this module it s no problem I think.

Satellite A200 A300 using the same memory modules DDR2 so change the RAM is no problem.

  • Question about upgrading RAM on Satellite Pro A100

    Hi all

I have a Satellite Pro A100 PSAACE I want to upgrade. I currently have 1 GB of RAM in two 512 MB modules. I looked on Crucial.com and he says I need DDR2 PC2 4200 module (240 pin DIMM), but of course, they want to sell their own stuff that only comes in 1 GB modules.
So, what is the maximum amount of RAM my computer can take? I would like to have more than 2 GB in order to make my page file smaller. Is 2 GB maximum I can put in?

To be honest, I read several threads where people were not so happy with the RAMs from crucial. In my opinion, you should spend your laptop with 2 x 1 GB RAM. With 2 GB of RAM, your laptop will work fine and I'm sure you'll be happy with it.

As recommendable modules, you must use either 1 GB (PA3411U-2M1G) or module recommended by Kingston.

  • Satellite Pro A100 - 244 PSAAC - RAM upgrade Question

    Hello everyone,

I have Satellite Pro A100 - 244 (PSAAC) comes with standard RAM "512 (533 MHz)" and I replaced it with 1 GB (533 MHz)

And now, I want to add 2 GB of RAM in the other slot but I couldn't find RAM 2 GB with bus (533 MHz), I can find only the Rams with (667 MHz)

I just want to know if it is acceptable to add these two RAMS with these different bus "1 GB (533 MHz) with 2 GB (667 MHz).

Please let me know if there a danger or cause any problem or if the computer would decrease performance

    Looking forward to your help

    Best regards
    Sammy

667 MHz * should * work at 533 MHz, but his has not guaranteed to work, you will need to test it before buying the memory.

Memory usually has a SPD table that tells the BIOS which timings to use at different speeds, but even if the SPD has a 533 MHz on the table, there may always be a compatibility problem.

  • Upgrading RAM on Satellite Pro A100-840

The specification for the Satellite Pro A100 840 said that memory has a maximum of 4 GB of memory. But it does not seem to be all provided by Toshiba that allows me to level to 4 GB of memory. This current has the default 1gn that was shipped when ordered. Anyone know how to get the 1 GB to 4 GB?

Thank you in advance for any help

    Hello

I just wanted to check the specifications of the laptop but I was not able to find the Satellite Pro A100-840. Can you please check laptop model and send us the laptop model number.

In any case I really don't understand what your problem. It seems that your model of laptop can handle with 4 GB RAM max. According to your assignment, your laptop comes with 1 GB of RAM.

So if you want to use the maximum RAM on your laptop satellite, you must buy RAM 2 X 2 GB module. As far as I know, 2 GB RAM module are available and if you want to be sure of compatibility please check the Kingston products.

Please check this Kingston Memory Configurator

  • Satellite Pro A100 - it does not recognize 4 GB of RAM

    Hello
today I purchased two 2 GB RAM Corsair DIMMS (DDR2 - 667 mhz) for my Satellite Pro A100.

After that I updated the BIOS it detected the 4 GB of RAM, but the balance of RAM on the boot prompt checks only 3 GB of RAM. So I can use only 3 GB of RAM (I use ubuntu 64 as an operating system). When I try to RAM into another laptop, it works perfectly. A memtest86 + says check: no error. When I plug in a dimm in the laptop, it is correctly detected as a 2 GB dimm module (tested two DIMMs into the two slots on motherboard)

Anyone else seen this behavior? For me, it looks like a limitation or a bug in the version of the BIOS.

    (The processor supports 64-bit (core2duo t5500))

    Hello

What Satellite Pro A100 you have exactly?
As far as I know that some models can only be upgraded to 2 GB of RAM.

It's really not easy to say what is the reason for this because I m confused on the subject of what the BIOS recognize the 4 GB of RAM, but not the boot prompt.
I'm not sure that maybe the modules are not compatible with your laptop. You can test other modules?

    Welcome them

  • Maximum RAM and type for Satellite Pro A100

    Hello.

I have already looked at my manual, but I can't get a definitive answer.

I went to one of these computers, analysis of Web sites and it claims I have 2 SLOTS where I can put 1 GB DDR II PC2-4200 each (so 2048 MB of ram)
(es http://www.crucial.com/store/listparts.aspx?model=Satellite%20Pro%20A100%20Seri) But according to CPU - Z, my laptop contains DDR II PC2-4300 512 MB

But when I recorded from TOSHIBA Web site and entered the serial number of my cell phone, he told me that I had a Satellite Pro A100-196
When I searched for Satellite Pro A100-196 on the internet, I came across a website (http://toshiba.icecat.biz/en/p/PSAACE-00E00DG3/Satellite%2520Pro%2520A100-196.htm) that says that 100-196 a module of DDR II (533 mhz) and that it can place additional modules up to 4096 MB (which means I can't that modules of RAM 2 GB each)

So I would like to know if anyone knows the final RAM MAX (and type), I can place.

    Thank you.

The Satellite Pro A100-196 appears to bear the 667 Mhz front bus!
So, you can also use the modules of memory 667 Mhz (533 Mhz is also possible).

    I advise to use SODIMM 200 PIN DDR2 modules; 667 MHz (PC2-5300)

You can upgrade the memory to 4 GB max. So it is certainly possible to use a 2 GB into a slot!

    Good bye

  • Satellite Pro A100 - PSAAAE CPU upgrade

    Hi Toshiba,

I have an old * Satellite Pro A100 * _PSAAAE-type_ and I would like to upgrade the processor. I have seen that is 479, and I found that there are the Core 2 Duo on this plug. The 945GM chipset supports Core 2 Duo, but I don't know if my laptop BIOS supports these CPU.

    Someone can confirm or not?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

In General, upgrading the CPU is not recommended.
Of course, you can use the processors that are supported by the chipset, but the BIOS compatibility is another story. No one can tell if your laptop would be stable after this upgrade due to the higher heat dissipation.

But I read in this forum that some guys have upgraded the processor and the laptop still works

  • Satellite Pro A100 is not recognized any amount of RAM

    Hello

I have a Satellite Pro A100 and I just bought 1 GB of additional memory. There are two locations, each with a capacity of 1 GB.
When I put the new memory into the slot and the old 512 MB original memory in slot B and the computer says it is 1 GB.

I have them two-way round so that the 512 MB is has the 1 GB in B. Now the computer says that there is 512 MB.
Is there anything I can do to work B slot? I have the latest version of the BIOS update.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

    > original 512K of Ram also works in A slot, but not in the housing B.
This looks like your slot B is defective, mate :(

I think that, in this case, you can't. You can swap the card mother but that s all.

  • Strange problem with RAM on Satellite Pro A100

I have a Satellite Pro A100 (not sure which...)
It came with 2x256mb RAM, which are mounted. I noticed my laptop slow, so I checked what he says on the properties of the workstation - who said RAM 192Mo...

    Any idea what's going on?
I had a peek inside, both are mounted securely, while the right push entirely? There is a small gap (about 1 / 2mm) so that is the little nick and real editing. -What is the cause? Or it's maybe faulty?

    Please help me!
    Thanks in advance,

    Diana

According to the description of your problem, I guess one of the memory modules is not recognized by the system and the specified result 192 MB of Ram only tell me that your laptop has shared graphics memory card.

Satellite Pro A100 is fairly new to laptop and, in my opinion, you should contact service. The guarantee must be valid and if everything is defective it will be replaced free of charge.

If possible, tell us what Satellite Pro, you have exactly. This info you can find on the lower side of your laptop.

  • Satellite Pro A100-830 - HDD upgrade questions

I'm a complete noob so please forgive my silly question!

I would like to replace my laptop HARD drive, is there any combatibilty issues I should be aware of, or is it just a case of getting a HARD drive 2.5 "?

Is it easy to buy an external and use the internal drive inside the case?

This seems to be the best way to the value of doing. Specific recommendations?
    Thank you!

    Hi magicmat,

Generally upgrade the HARD drive is not complicated, and that's why you only have to remove the cover of the HARD drive on the lower side of your laptop to replace the HARD drive.

Satellite Pro A100 already use hard disks with SATA interface so you have such a HARD drive. In addition, I would recommend a 5400 RPM model because it s quite fast and doesn t a lot of power.

So that s what you need to know about upgrading. Theoretically, you can use the old or an external HDD with an external HARD drive enclosure. Also no problem. :)

  • Satellite Pro A100: XP says RAM 192Mo, utility Tosh says 256 MB

My recent purchase of an A100 was supposed to be with 256 MB of RAM - but XP does not see. He sees only 192 MB. The utility Toshiba said that there is 256MB. How to get them to agree?

    Hello

Some of the Satellite Pro A100 units were shipped with ATI RADEON Xpress 200 M graphics card shared memory.
This graphics card uses part of the main memory.
As Michael suggested the Toshiba utility shows the memory full value and XP only shows the difference.
As far as I know, you can change the value in the properties of the graphics card.

  • Satellite Pro A100 crashed during Windows BIOS upgrade, now does not start.

Satellite Pro A100 crashed during the upgrade of the bios from windows (upgrade the bios using windows), now the laptop will not boot. I press the on switch and it gives me just a blank screen, so I think that resets itself. I really need help solving this because I have a University paper due in the next few days and I need my laptop!
    Close for any help.

    It's a scream! :_| : O

This looks like a damage ROM module!
How did you do the BIOS update? I have red in this forum that a wrong procedure or wrong BIOS can damage the motherboard.

I think that it s a deal. I put t know if it s needed to change the entire motherboard or update the BIOS again but I n t think you will be able to do it yourself.

I think the best way is to ask the Toshiba service partner in your country.
I think they'll give you more details on the handling of the Fryer
