Satellite Pro L40 - Vista C drive empty data complete player E

I have an old two-year L40 Pro Satellite entered pre loaded with Vista.

Now have a constant problem with "low disk space on drive C of the Vista.

As a data reader E I'm puzzled as to what to do to use the 26.1 GB of unused space on the E drive.

As you can probably I have very little talent techno so please keep the simple explanations

Hello

Why you n t store all you things like images, videos, MP3s etc on the E partition?
I use partition C (System partition) for my system Windows, programs, tools and utilities
All other files (images, videos, MP3s, documents, etc.) are stored on the second partition.

I recommend doing it so you can move some files to E in order to get more free space on C.

Welcome them

    Hello

new here on this forum, hope someone can help,

I have a series of satellite Pro L40, I'm trying to free up memory space I get the prompt "virtual memory is low", Vista (c) shows 3.28 GB free of 37.2 GB & data (E :) shows 100% free, I just replced both modules of memory with x 2 1 GB 200 pin Sodimm memory upgrades but Vista is still to display only 3.28 GB of free space) , any idea?

    Your very confused!, Mike.

    Hi Mike,.

I think you mixed a lot of The RAM (Random Access Memory) has * nothing * to do with disk space von Vista (c).
Vista with low disk space partition is stored on the HARD disk and the second partition (E :) as well.
RAM and HARD drive are completely different. All your data/files are stored on the HARD drive because the RAM is no place to save the data.

In any case, I think you need to move some files from partition C: to E: partition like photos, music, etc. Then, you can get rid of this error message.

I think that the laptop supports Atheros 11 b/g wireless network card, so you will need to install the Atheros Wlan driver.

  • Satellite Pro L40 - 17F: everything by playing the DVD player window flickers

I have a new Toshiba Satellite Pro L40 - 17F with all the updates of Windows Vista (Home) applied. This includes those optional (for example driver updates)

I came to be used for the first time (outside the application of windows update) and play a movie. The player (not the controls, just the player) window flashing continuously, even on the menu screens. It almost seems that the film was shot with an old film camera and is played on a projector.

I have not really looked at it properly yet, but I wonder if this is a common problem...

  • Re: Satellite Pro L40 - killed the laptop BIOS update

Recently I thought it would be better to download the latest drivers and upgrades for my Satellite pro L40 to keep up-to-date and partners the laptop that works smoothly. I couldn't have worse summer. Before I updated the new driver updates I thought it would be a good idea first update the Bios. So I downloaded the update of the Bios on the Toshiba site, unzipped the files and followed the online instructions for updating the BIOS. I double clicked on the BIOS file to run the update, the laptop says it was end the session, I waited and the Toshiba logo screen came. In the instructions, it says that I have to press F2 now and confirm that the date and time are correct. I should then press F9 to load all the default values and then press F10 to save and exit. At this point, the laptop must away to the loading screen, but... I got a black screen. IV turned off the computer and turn it back on, but still, I get a blank screen. The lights are on but know one's home.

Could a mod/staff/Board Toshiba administrator please explain to me why I'm going to draw the consequences of my lack full on my face because I followed a form of direct teaching of personnel of Toshiba or... Please run me through the process of bring back my cell partners in life, before that I get my Crown snatched jewels. This isn't a laugh. An upgrade directly from the manufacturer is not intended to cause you problems!

Please get back to me as soon as POSSIBLE. My first son moments of life (videos, photos) are on this laptop. That cannot be replaced. Please tell me that the laptop can be fixed...

    Hello Durks

I'm really sorry to hear you I have this problem.
To be honest, it is not easy to discuss about this because a lot of people on this forum with a similar or same problem reacts quite aggressive if they don t hear exactly the thing they want to hear.

In any case, I just want to write my comment. Don t be worried about photos and other important data. You can remove the laptop HARD drive, put it in a small box of HDD SATA 2.5 and connect the HARD drive to the other PC / laptop as external device. You will have full access to all stored data. So you can do the backup.

    Update the BIOS.
What to say at this point?
I have checked the Toshiba download page and saw that the BIOS update is available for Windows XP Home edition and Vista pre-installed notebooks so I hope you ve chosen the right one. Anyway, it is not easy to fix screwed up in the BIOS. You hate me now, but I think you should contact the nearest Toshiba service provider and ask for help. Call them, explain the situation and ask what you can do about it.

I hope you will fix this laptop soon.

    Good luck.

  • Question about hard drive storage on Satellite Pro L40

I have a Satellite Pro L40. Memory hard drive seems to be divided into two (about 35 GB each) under Vista C and e of data.
Vista C is almost full. How can I use/access the E-data memory?

    Hi Bart

Please don't get me wrong, but your question is really strange. I mean after reading your post, I'm really interested in your PC knowledge and how long you use your laptop.

You want to know is basic stuff and must be learned first when you start using computers.
When you have the time to try to get some book on WXP or Vista and all know about operating systems and how to use them.

Open Windows Explorer, and you will have direct access to the second partition. You can move files from C to D, or save all data directly on the D partition.

Google a bit. You can find many Web pages on basic stuff to the use of operating system.

  • Satellite Pro L40 - sound after installing Windows XP SP3 driver

    Hello

I bought the Satellite Pro L40 about 6 months ago and the speed of the laptop is too slow with windows Vista. So I decided to install an old copy of windows XP that I had purchased earlier. I updated the windows SP3 installation before installing the drivers.

Now, all the drivers have been installed correctly except the audio driver. I downloaded the XP version of the driver on the toshiba site, but it did not work. So I though that maybe the vista version would work, so I downloaded that. But that no longer works.

Can someone suggest a solution where I can get the audio driver to work? Preferably without having to get the reinstalled windows again.

    Please help me...!

    Thank you

    Hello

Try to reinstall the driver for sound card for XP; Just go here-> [fo Realtek card its Driver XP | http://support1.toshiba-tro.de/tedd-files2/0/sound-20071120150900.zip]

  • Vista 64 bit on Satellite Pro L40

I installed Vista Ultimate 64-bit on my Satellite pro L40 and I downloaded all the necessary drivers for this OS, but I can't use the FN keys and volume on my keyboard.
Does anyone have any ideas as to why they won't work, I had Vista Home Basic on the machine before and they worked very well.

The FN and the other keys work fine it's just the sound that does not work.

    Hello

I checked the page European driver of Toshiba and there are not many Vista 64-bit drivers for this unit L40. Your FN buttons don t work because you didn t install the driver necessary or tool that controls this feature.

I found a tool called Hotkey Utility, which was published in the Vista 32 bit driver section.
You can try to install it on your Vista 64 bit version, but to be honest I m nit sure if it will work
If she will not run, then you must use Vista 64-bit without the functionality of the FN button.

  • Have now installed XP on my Satellite Pro L40-134 that had OS Vista as OEM

high-definition Intel (azalia) codec adi ad1986a audio

Hi, I have a problem a lot of time with the sound on my laptop.
    Description
    * No sound
    * An exclamation in device saying management "Audio device high definition Audio Bus".
I removed Vista (which came with) and installed a genuine XP PRO SP3
Downloaded all the drivers from the Toshiba Download Center (used the Satellite Pro L40 - 17 H, this is a similar model with XP as the operating system OEM)
Installed in the correct order according to "how to install" Toshibas pdf

Had a typical saying "Audio Modem Bus High Definition Audio" for awhile, but it disappeared during the installation of the drivers in the correct order.

Now I sculled the Earth for a solution, but found nothing.

Answers to these questions would be very apprechiated.
What is my motherboard model name?
who is the manufacturer of the MoBo?
Who made my equipped with a sound card?

The best course would be if I could get a link to a nice download that solved my problem.

    All the best.

    C_sdi

After reading your ad something was strange for me on this pdf "how to install". Now I know what the problem is here.
Your laptop model has the name of the European model, but on the European download page, there is no pdf file "how to install".

Now I wonder what you do exactly.
If you check the European download page, and it's right for you, you'll notice that Toshiba doesn't offer WXP stuff for your laptop model. So you will be unable to find the proper drivers and Toshiba-specific tools and utilities, and I assume that you will not be able to complete the configuration and installation of Windows XP Home edition.

Anyway, you can try to find the proper drivers that Googling around or you can try install stuff designed for model laptop similar but I can't say for sure if it works or not.

On your Satellite pro motherboard is Intel 943GML + Intel® ICH7-M, then you can try to find suitable driver on Intel support page. Sound chip is ADI AD1986A.

    Good luck.

  • Floppy USB drive not recognized when installing WinXP on Satellite Pro L40

    History:

I bought a Satellite Pro L40, it came with windows vista. I can't stand vista windows for obvious reasons. so I formatted the HARD drive. I have a copy of windows XP.

IV ' e read on the internet that I need Intel storage driver manager...

IA´ve got the driver, he got on a floppy, and it does not, because when I start to install XP, it works (after pressing F6 & choose the driver to install). I come to the part of license agreement, press F8 accept...

I select the partition I want to use (in format completely on vista). It starts to load more stuff... so he said "PLEASE INSERT LABELD - INTEL MATRIX STORAGE MANAGER DRIVER - DISK IN DRIVE A:" "PRESS ENTER WHEN READY."

The disc that I used in the first place is always in. when I press on enter, nothing NOT to PAST (the USB floppy drive is not yet into action)

How can I make it work? It is that I can get.

I DON'T WANT BACK TO VISTA - HELP!

This could happen if the floppy USB doesn t drive supports the standards of law. Some people have reported on different websites many floppy drives are not recognized.

However, worry guy. I have a solution ;) (jeaaa: D)

Try to create a new XP CD using the software called nLite!
Then, you could include the SATA (Intel Matrix Storage Manager) driver in this new CD and then you could boot from the XP CD again.

For details and how to use the nLite please Google because there are a lot of useful Web sites.

    Good bye

Do you need a driver for the reader of CD/DVD TS-L462C?

Sorry, but the driver doesn't exist. The Windows operating system uses the Microsoft own driver. These drivers are already provided in the Windows operating system and a 3rd party driver is really not necessary.

May I ask what's wrong with the TS-L462C drive?
