Satellite Pro U400-13 has - plenty of unwanted processes

I recently got a laptop of [services computing iansyst | http://www.itspc.co.uk/computers/], to help me in my course of 3 years at the University.
When I got it however, I found that it was full of many processes, start up to half of my 2 GB ram is used.

Here is a picture of all the processes running at startup, I have already blocked a bit and added a few choices, but it slows down my system.
http://img179.imageshack.us/img179/6972/taskmanagerdn9.PNG
F-secure of anti-virus as iansyst provided me with.
Acroynis is a service of windows to its original settings restore

One of my main concerns is that there are several svchost.exes running, I don't know what can be the source of their good.

Can someone tell me what process I need on my laptop Satellite Pro U400 13A? I want to delete a large number of them.

Hello

The svchost.exe is needed to run some dll files.
The peacekeepers svchost.exe in Manager task several times because the Task Manager is not able to enumerate all this simple process.

If you want to know which process is using the svchost.exe do this:
In RUN, type * cmd * and press return.
In the new window, type + Tasklist/svc | more + and press ENTER.
Now you should get a list of simple processes that use the svchost.exe

I also see many background processes belonging to F-Secure.
As you say that it is a security Antivirus software and the process should t be disabled.

There are also some processes that belong to the features for Toshiba laptop.
They start by Tos.
I would not recommend disabling these processes because you n t be able to use all the features of the laptop.

But there are some processes that are not needed, such as Winamp, Acronis True image, O2 memory flash, google talk service and some others that are not known to me.

Best regards

  • Satellite Pro U400-13 has: forcing Panel full screen fit on all resolutions?

    Hello.

I use a number of applications that provide full screen options, which generally reduce the screen resolution to something like 640 by 480.

My graphics chip is Mobile Intel (r) 965 Express Chipset Family.

By default, my screen resolution is 1280 by 800 and is set to use the full screen, but every time Panel that the resolution is changed by the properties display or a request, instead of the chart options intel, it defines desktop Center screen.

I've already updated the graphics driver, is there a way I can continue my full screen option, instead of office of centre?

I found that it will remember that my adjustment Panel options when I use a lower resolution on 1280 by 800 by default, but this isn't something I want to do.

    Hello

Your case is very specific, and I guess the 3rd party applications affects the display resolution and therefore a driver update or switching of all other options will not help you.

Here, I doubt you will find a way to avoid this change in resolution.
It seems that you must always manually change in the Intel graphics driver manager.

PS: for several days I m owner U400 and everything works properly

  • Satellite Pro U400 - TrueSuite Manager setup.exe has stopped working

I have a Satellite Pro U400 running Vista Business (OEM) and at the start of a desktop computer TrueSuite Manager pop-up message appears telling me there is an update to install.

When I try to install the update, I get a window that says Setup.exe does not work.

Signature of the problem of the relationship an APPCRASH-is30C0.exe with the exception C0000005 code.

I tried to uninstall the TrueSuite Manager through Windows uninstaller programs, but get the same message - setup.exe has stopped working.

Appreciate advice on how to solve this problem.

    Hello

I think that it is a simple case of corrupted registry entries and files that could belong to the TrueSuite Manager software.

I agree with the previous user, and I recommend to reinstall this software again.
You may need to clean the OS before installing the Truesuite again.
In this case, I recommend the CCLenaer. It s a simple and free tool and can be downloaded on most Web sites.

Google and you should find more information.

  • Satellite Pro U400 - 150 - display has stopped working

    Hello guys,.

yesterday I used to turn on my laptop (Satellite Pro U400 - 14) and it worked fine but after 1 minute my screen stopped working. I tried to restart the PC, and it worked OK again. But I turn on my laptop today and it didn t work at all. Everything is OK, PC works fine, everything is good, but only the display is black.

I Don t know what happened with my laptop. :/

Is there anyone who knows the answer to this problem?

    Thanks for all your answers.

    > Everything is OK, PC works fine, everything is good, but only the display is black.
Of course, this isn't all right if nothing appears on the screen

Connect an external monitor to check if you would be able to see something on the screen?
Do this! Usually you should use the FN + F5 to alternate between the monitor internal and external.
If this is not possible and nothing could be seen on the 2nd monitor, the graphics card problem can cause this.

  • Satellite Pro U400 VISTA disk management has 6 primary partitions

    Hi all!

I have a strange effect on my Toshiba laptop Satellite Pro U400 (but it seems not to be specific to this one that I saw the same symptoms elsewhere, at the same time):

I had the laptop with a 320 GB drive with recovery-(invisible / "Configuration EISA", 1,46 Go) system (C:, ~ 150 GB) and data (E:, ~ 150 GB) volumes. It's the usual structure of Toshiba,

    pre-installed OS was Vista professional.

As I plan to install Linux in addition, I have done as a result of preparations:

    Recovery disc Vista created 1.).
2.) C: shrunk to ~ 100 GB using Vista disk management tool.
3.) E: shrunk to Go ~ 98 using Vista disk management tool.
It is suggested that 4.) E: directly behind C: using Parted Magic CD.

Finally I got a 97 GB of free space at the end of the disc, and everything worked well away. Creating an additional on the free area, Vista disk management, resulted in an extended partition created by Vista. This extended partition contained the extra volume as well as the free space remaining behind.

To prepare for installing Linux, I've finally created three logical Volumes inside the extended partition with Vista disk management tool.
After that, I had the following structure of the partition on the disk (indicated by the Vista Disk Manager):

    invisible 1.46 GB, primary
C:, ~ 100 GB NTFS, primary, active, System
    E:, ~ 98 GB NTFS, primary, data

~ 97 GB extended partition, containing:
2 GB unformatted (planned for Linux swap)
20 GB unformatted (planned for Linux root "/")
21 GB unformatted (planned for Linux "/ home")
    Empty remaining 54 GB space

    More on Vista worked properly!

Recently, I installed OpenSuse 11.1 using the volumes placed within extended partitions (user-specific configuration). The Installation worked correctly. Logical volumes have been formatted to

2 GB of swap (swap Linux, / dev/sda5)
    20 GB ext3 (Linux root ' / ' on/dev/sda6)
    21 GB unformatted (Linux "/ home" on/dev/sda6)

during the installation of Linux. Linux and Vista up and running with their scores. If I look at the hard drive with Linux' partitioning tool, I see three main partitions + range, as expected. The scope contains the Linux partitions + empty disk space.

    HOWEVER:
    ========

If I look at the hard drive with the Vista disk management tool now, I get the following image:

    invisible 1.46 GB, primary
C:, ~ 100 GB NTFS, primary, active, System
    E:, ~ 98 GB NTFS, primary, data
2 GB PRIMARY, no format info displayed
20 GB PRIMARY, no format info displayed
21 GB PRIMARY, no format info displayed
    Empty remaining 54 GB space

    This means:
VISTA DISK MANAGMENT ME PRESENT 6 PRIMARY PARTITIONS WITHOUT ANY COMPLAIN
Although a hard drive on the PC architecture usually only supports maximum 4 primary partitions.

    Issues related to the:

Have you ever seen a similar behavior?

Is this a bug of presentation in the Vista disk management tool?

Or is it a bug in formatting under Linux?

Is there a solution for this problem?

At present, the two BONES work very well. However, the disk will be get permanently damaged as soon as I try to create more partitions in the empty space left?

Sincere greetings and thanks for your comments.

    Girard

    > Have you ever see similar behavior?
    NO.

    > Is this a bug of presentation in the Vista disk management tool?
I doubt that it is a bug, I think you forgot something.

As far as I know you can create 4 partitions on the HARD drive and this is the reason why you have the ability to create an extended partition.
An extended partition can be divided into several logical drives.

That is why it s wise to create a primary partition for Windows OS for example and an extended partition, which can decompose the in logical drives (partitions) different.

However, I put t see a problem if everything works properly

  • Satellite Pro U400-130 - Conexant and 'Stereo Mix' in question

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro U400-130 (downgraded from Vista to XP) with the Conexant High Definition SmartAudio 221 "audio card" installed.

Although this seems to support HD audio, I can't find any option to use or activate the "Stereo Mix" option in the Windows console. I tried a few settings to registry and some different drivers, but so far, the option remained absent.

I know this forum and other comments on the net that Conexant audio cards do not support the stereo mix, but I was wondering if someone could confirm that this is certainly the case for SmartAudio 221?

Similarly, anyone know of another method to record the sound 'as heard' on the computer? So Far, the options appear to be a) buy an external sound card, or b) connect the plug headphone mini-jack on the mic with a cable jack.

After using a p3500 old Portege of 8 quite happy with this function (actually pretty basic), it is very disappointing to find that this card cannot support it.

    See you soon,.
    Select this option.

    > I can't find any option to use or activate the "Stereo Mix" option in the Windows mixer
    > I know this forum and other reviews on the net that the Conexant sound cards may not support stereo > Mix, but I was wondering if anyone could confirm this is certainly the case for SmartAudio 221?

I can confirm this because I have a laptop (NOT from Toshiba one) that was equipped with the Conexant audio chip and the other laptop (Toshiba Satellite a series has) that supports the Realtek audio chip.

The machine with Realtek audio chip contains stereo mix and the other non-Toshiba unit that supports the audio chip Conexant does not support the stereo mix

As far as I know the update of the driver won't help you because it looks like a hardware limitation of chip Conexant!

However, thanks for the info about the Virtual Audio Cable tool.
I think I'll try it next time

  • I need to replace the battery and AC adapter of the Satellite Pro U400-160

    I have a Satellite Pro U400-160.

I need to replace the battery and the charger of my Toshiba, but I am wary about compatibility issues.

Any battery for Satellite Pro U400 is suitable for mine?
As I can't find which batteries are specifically suitable for my computer.

(For example: is this a: http://www.amazon.es/Bater%C3%ADa-Toshiba-Satellite-U400-11V-7800mAh/dp/B0051A9Y88/ref=sr_1_cc_2?s=aps&ie=UTF8&qid=1366885340&sr=1-2-catcorr&keywords=satellite+pro+u400?)

Is there a quick way to check if a battery / charger are compatible?

Each battery and adapter you get from Toshiba has specific part number. All you have to do is use this same part number and order. You should be able to find on the internet.
You can also get compatible parts you are ordering by the Toshiba authorized service provider in your country.

By the way: all U400 models have the same construction and the similar specifications then all the batteries specified for U400 can be used on your U400-160.

Can anyone help? And where can I get a replacement from? I have no recovery disks, like most of the GUY's, I have not read the instructions.

Any help would be really appreciated

If anyone has any ideas please let me know...

    Thank you

    Hey,.

Theoretically, you can install each HARD drive with SATA 2.5 form factor interface in Satellite Pro U400.

If you install a new HARD drive in Satellite Pro U400, you must use the old disk cover/case HARD to install.
I put t know what you mean exactly with that, but maybe you can upload a photo to make it clearer.

Finally and above all it doesn t matter what company it comes. You can use a Toshiba or another company HARD disk too like Western Digital, Seagate, etc..

  • Satellite Pro U400 - audio quality is not good

OK this problem has been plaging me for years. I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro U400 windows 8.1.

    The sound quality is terrible.
I can remember it's bad in windows 7.

Contextant driver is bad, and so is the generic driver windows 8.1.

    Help, please

To be honest, I have no idea what you mean exactly by the quality is terrible.
I've owned a notebook Satellite U400 happened and I have to say that the sound quality was quite good.

Satellite U400 is a small portable 13.3 and the speakers have been adjusted to the dimensions of the laptop.
The Conexant audio chip is part of the motherboard and you will not be able to replace it.

If you want to use another sound card, you can try to use an external USB audio interface.
I use this external sound solution for my home recording studio.

The audio interface is connected to the USB port of the laptop s and the external speakers are initiated for the external audio interface.

By the way: isn't Satellite U400 is the list of the supported 8.1 notebooks... Win so you won't find not all drivers Win 8.1 for this unit on the Toshiba driver website.

  • Re: Satellite Pro U400-160 - freezes when copying larger files or videos

    Hello:

I have a Satellite Pro U400-160 and a VERBATIM external hard drive USB eSATA combo.

If I turn on AHCI mode recognizes the drive, but when copying the video files or large file size, the system is frozen. However if I remove the mode AHCI works correctly. I have the version 9.8.9.1023 Intel (r) Matrix Storage Manager and my laptop BIOS v4.0 and Windows Vista Business.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

Normally the AHCI mode has nothing to do with an external HARD drive. It is only important for the internal HARD disk if you install Windows.

Anyway, you have installed all the updates of Windows for Vista?
In addition, you should test another external HARD disk or with another cable.

I have a few questions for you guys who own a laptop U400.

Is - this treatment of 64-bit support? I don't know if the Vista operating system that is delivered is 32-bit or 64-bit.

I know that this video card is not ment for gaming, but manipulates her older games like Call of Duty 4?

Do you recommend this laptop? I tried searching the Internet for customers, but I couldn't find the model U400 - 23M. What are the advantages and disadvantages on this laptop?

    Hi mate

    I n t have the Satellite Pro U400 - 23M, but I m an owner of the Satellite U400-10N.
I use it in my office all I love this little baby.

You should know that the U400 has 13.3 display and it of smaller than the P100.
So you will definitely notice a difference.

One of my friends said that 13.3 would be too low for him, but for me it s best. I can take everywhere and sometimes I m work while traveling around the world

    So I m very satisfied.

I ve installed Win XP on this U400 and it s functions perfectly!
But you can install Vista 64 bit too. The Satellite Pro U400 - 23M uses the Intel Core 2 Duo CPU T5870, that supports 64-bit

But note; the U400 is not really a cellphone game hardcore.
My U400 supports an Intel graphics chip and usually I only use it for office, graphic design (web) applications and web browsing.

Is there a way to lower the resolution of some how that I didn't think?
I checked and I am running the latest drivers for the graphics card intel?

    Hello

When you want to connect your laptop to the TV, do the follow-up:
    Connect the cable
