Tecra R10 - change of internal drive SDD

Hello
I have a Toshiba Tecra R10

I want to change my drive for an SSD, but I do not know how to open the computer. Please, can you tell me if there are some videos on youtube to explain how to do this?

Thank you.

Hey,.

A friend told Tecra R10 too but it s not easy to exchange the HARD drive because you have to remove many parts, like the keyboard, Base Assy and lots of screws. When you replace the HARD drive on this laptop, you should know what you're doing because it s a procedure difficult and you should have experience with laptop disassembly.

If you n t know how you need to contact a technician for help laptop. Guys can you help to swap the drive and here you can order a new SSD or HARD disk too. :)

    Hey Buddy,

  • Tecra R10 - 10W - crashes with the nVidia display driver

    Dear Sirs,

Two days ago, I bought my new Tecra R10 - 10W. I used the recovery disk to put Windows XP.

However, I get a blue screen randomly. I turned on the 'Check' tool and I got: error of e/s in wmiaci.sys system. Error 20th in B9B8752F. I figured that the nVidia driver and uninstalled it. The problem disappear. But when I try to install on your site the appropriate driver: display - 20081110130507.zip the system blocks blue with the same error.

    Please help me.

    Hello

    Which is really strange, buddy

Hmm, I think that before installing the display driver you must clean your system using CCleaner. This freeware tool removes the old driver files and cleans up the registry. Then, restart the installation of the laptop the latest driver on the official website of Toshiba.

Furthermore, you also update the BIOS? You can find it on the Toshiba site too. :)

  • How to change the HDD in Tecra R10 - 10W - any instructions?

I would like to install windows 7 on my laptop R10 - 10W, but for now only for test.
I would like to save my current installation of Windows XP on my HARD drive.

The simplest solution is to change HARD drive but this laptop has no available HARD disk. :-(

I tried to boot from the HARD drive connected via esata, but it is not functional. :-(

    Anyone have an idea?

    Thanks Karel

    > More simple solution is to change the HARD drive, but this laptop has no available HARD disk
What do you mean by inaccessible HARD drive?

If you want to install the Windows 7 only for the test then you don t have need to change the HARD disk or delete the Win XP from the HARD drive.

One solution might be to an installation of Win 7 on the second partition.
Create a partition on the HARD drive using a 3rd party like Partition Magic 8 tool. This great tool and allows you to create and manage the partition.

Another option would be the use of virtualization.
    You know the Virtual PC?
    http://www.Microsoft.com/Windows/Virtual-PC/

It helps you to install each operating system that you want on the HARD disk without having all partitions.

  • Tecra R10 - hard drive upgrade for SSD

Can we say if it is possible to change the hard drive for an SSD?
    It would be perfect!

Why is it not possible? As far as I know Toshiba proposes some models of the Portege with SSD and SATA drives.
For the time being SSDS are quite expensive and I don't think the best solution.
What is the reason for the exchange of HARD drive?
I still have no experience with SSDS, but I've read several articles ve noticed that Intel X25M should be good. According to the tests that has this HARD drive, comparing to other manufacturers, data transfer rate but it is quite expensive.

Anyway, when you replace the HARD drive please let us know how it works, and describe your experience with it. It can be very useful for other members of the forum.

    Good luck!

    Hello!

As Akuma writes it of not possible to create or modify partitions of HARD drive during the installation of recovery Toshiba.
The Toshiba Recovery disk contains an image of the factory settings, and after that you can change the size of the partition yourself.

I also use Partition Magic and it works really well. If you n t have this tool, you can Google for a freeware tool. ;)

    Good bye

  • Tecra R10 - 10J: BIOS update abandoned "this computer is not supported.

    Hello

    My laptop is a Tecra R10 - 10J PartNumber PTRB1E-00D002FR, 1.40 BIOS version 11/13/2008.

I recently bought and installed two modules of 4 GB RAM (8 GB). Enter the BIOS setup, I found 8 GB. Windows 7 64 bit also detects the 8 GB, but uses only 3.80! MemTest and diagnosis of CPU - Z are good for all of the 8 GB. I went from RAM modules from one location to another, but nothing has changed. If I replace a module of 4GB by a 2 GB memory, Windows 7 uses 5.80 is going well. Same result as any module of memory of 4 GB or slot I use.

I suppose that problem comes from the BIOS. The 1.40 version does not support memory mapped IO functionality.

So I followed the instructions on "http://fr.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/?download_drivers_bios.jsp?" to find the last good package to update BIOS for Tecra R10 - 10J. I downloaded and ran the BIOS310?. exe, but received the error message "this computer is not supported"?

Can someone tell me how to upgrade my BIOS or did someone has a better idea to activate the full 8 GB of RAM support?

    Thank you for all!

    Axel Limousin

    Hello

You must install the VAP (value added package) or if this package is already installed, you must reinstall/upgrade to update it.

Disable the Antivirus software and disable things of security such as firewalls etc.

    Hope that you're lucky...

  • Tecra R10 you need Intel Turbo Memory?

    Hello
I intend to change my Vista to XP, and I see that XP does not support Intel turbo memory. But I see no where is the laptop as Intel Turbo memory.

So my question is is it in Tecra R10 - 10s Intel Turbo Memory

    Thank you

Akuma thanks for this information. To be honest it was not known to me ;)
    See you soon

  • Tecra R10 - 10J - BSOD if I use WiFi

I have a new Tecra R10 - 10J. I installed Windows XP directly with the recovery disc, so I never used Vista.

At the beginning I had problems getting 3 G to work, it is now OK. But I have another question unresolved: Blue notebooks accidents or restart randomly when I'm connected via wifi.

I did three things to run:
-upgrade to the new version of BIOS, which is: 1.50
-updated the last driver WiFi found on the website of intel: Intel WiFi Link 5100 AGN driver 12.4.3.9 version
-J' have also disabled in Device Manager the ability for the system to border/shock the wifi device (I found these tips on some forums because of driver Intel WiFi Link 5100 is not not reliable).

It seems to me that theses stocks have made things better. Blue screen are less frequent but they still happen. I also thought, there may be a conflict with the 3G device, so I have alwals turn off 3G using the shortcut when I'm on wifi. However, it crashes from time to time.

I'm beginning to wonder if there may be a hardware problem?

    Thanks for help.

    Hello

You also update the driver 3G or only the WiFi driver? I think you should try to update this driver too.
Check the Toshiba site for an update!

And can you please send the exact code of BSOD? This is very useful to identify what is the cause. In addition, you can search on the Microsoft KB for this code.

    I hope I could help a bit.

  • Tecra R10 - 10W PCI configuration simple controller-Wireless manager

I have a Toshiba Tecra R10 - 10W. I installed win7 and in Device Manager, it cannot find the driver for "PCI configuration simple controller.

Also when I try to use the Wireless Manager Toshiba for 3 g it is said that the radio is off, but in reality the trigger and the WiFi works.

Perhaps these two errors are connected.

    Thank you

    Hello

I think you need the driver Intel AMT controller (Intel Active Management Technology).

As far as I know, you can download this driver Toshiba driver European page or the page of the Intel driver.
In this case, you will need to search for Intel Management Engine Interface driver

    > Also when I try to use the Wireless Manager Toshiba for 3 g it is said that the radio is off, but in reality the trigger and the WiFi works.

WLan is not 3G use Fn + F8 to toggle the WiFi, Bluetooth and 3G.
I think you have to press this combination of button several times to get the right setting

    Welcome them
