Satellite Pro U400 - can I boot from a USB?
I am wanting to partition the disk and I don't have a blank CD at hand...
Surprised to discover, there is no option the BIOS to boot from devices USB 2.40.
Please can someone confirm for me that this is not possible?
Thank you.
L.
Yes, you can boot from USB FDD, primary HARD disk, optical device and network (LAN)
Unfortunately, the USB is not supported ;(
But if you want to create a new partition on the HARD drive you don't need to boot from a USB n.
Are you using the Vista on your Satellite Pro U400?
If so, you can use the Vista Disk Manager to create a new partition.
To reduce the first partition first and then you can create a new partition using a new space on the HARD drive.

Why I can't boot from a USB?
Hello
Why I can't boot from a USB? I'm looking to replace a failed hard drive in a Mac Mini 2010. I replaced the hard drive without difficulty.
I have a USB flash drive from known good 10.10.5 with an Installer (tested) well known about it. I press the power switch, as soon as the startup chime plays, I press the Option (Alt) key.
One of the two following situations occurs. Sometimes, I have a small screen asking me to enter my password Wi - Fi. I get my password and nothing else happens. Sometimes, I get a flashing "?" on a file folder. In my view, this indicates that the computer cannot find a bootable disc. I've tried resetting the PRAM, but I do not have the sound of the double ring that I was expecting.
Once a Mac is longer than 4 years, his PRAM Battery should replace before resetting the PRAM actually works.
Is this USB Flash drive "slipstreamed. It works on any other older than 10.10.5 Mac?
What is a copy from another Mac or Mac Mini itself 10.10.5 clone?
Plug you directly into the USB port of the Mac Mini, or using a hub which is powered wall?

Satellite 210CS: How can I boot from CD?
Hello
I found my old Satellite 210CS and I want to install Linux on it, but I can not find the floppy drive, I just got the drive of CD-ROM. I changed the boot options in the bios to FDD > HDD but its not not booting from the cd. Y at - it an update of the Bios to boot from CD?
Hello
He is a former. About 10 years ago.
AFAIK this laptop has an own FDD (floppy) drive and the CD drive is swappable. (You can use both, but not together)
I found information that the BIOS supports that one disc at the time and the CD-ROM drive is not bootable.
If you change the settings in the BIOS for HARD drive FDD so first Notepad starts from the floppy drive, and then from drive hard, but not on the CD!However, the Toshiba doesn't support Linux and you get not all Toshiba for Linux drivers.
But haven't found this page:

Satellite Pro U400 - can I roll back to Vista?
Hello
I have Toshiba asatellite pro U400-13I, I got it from a friend and he formatted the hard drive and created three partitions, now I've lost the windows vista which is on the 2nd HD, I need to recover my system to factory settings (Windows Vista), I have the restore CD that comes with it, but it gets to windows xp.
Can I go back to windows vista original?
Thanks in advance
Hello
If you don t have the Vista Toshiba recovery disc then you have three options;
-HARD drive recovery option
-purchase Toshiba Recovery Disk
-purchase of Microsoft Vista discI don't know if recovery of HARD drive option is still available on your system if Win XP was installed by Mr. but it s worth a try.
Press F8 after turning on laptop. Usually the menu should appear and you should choose to fix my computer. Then new window should appear where you can choose the option called Toshiba Recovery.
But if that does not work then you have to buy disks; Toshiba recovery or MS Vista.Welcome them

Satellite Pro A120 (PSAC1E-03Y010EN) boot from CD/DVD to install Win7
Looks like this ain t going to go quietly.
Problem 1
I get this error message when I set the BIOS to boot from the CD/DVD then the HARD drive and install Win7Windows did not start because the file
\System32\hal.dll is not installed or is corrupt please reinstall I ve discovered that l n nor Win7 or Vista use it, so I m assuming it is a blocking when I upgraded to Win7 Ultimate to XP Pro?
Problem 2
I get the error message when I set the BIOS to boot from the HARD drive and the CD/DVDWindows has a problem communicating with a device connected to your computer
This error can be caused by disconnecting a device of removable storage, such as a USB external drive while the device is still in use, either by faulty hardware such as a hard drive or a CD-ROM that fails. Make sure that all removable storage is properly connected, and then restart your computer.
FILE: \boot\BCD
STATUS: Oxc00000e9
An unexpected i/o error has occurredDid I miss something in the installation of this new HARD drive?
Anyone has any ideas what's wrong?Should I think about cloning the HARD drive to the new HARD drive and then just stick the new HARD drive in the computer?
I have a copy of XXClone who claims he will do this and make sure the new drive is bootable so is it worth it?Thank you
Installation of Win7 on an A120 can be difficult.
Have you updated the BIOS?
What is the size of the HARD drive?

Satellite A200 - 19L can not boot from the CD
Hi guys,.
I'm glad I found this forum site, I pretty well hope to find a solution here.
Well, this problem is not very complicated, in fact my DVD player (model TS-L632) is not read more, so much so I decided to change with a new one, but it is not the same model as the original drive.
It is the case of the generic DVD player really. Now when I inserted my recovery disk or any bootable disk is not booting the CD, and when I press F12 for I can't find any CD/DVD drive, but running in Windows I can't find the DVD player and it can read any CD priority boot normally.
Just having the problem while booting from CD.
I thought that maybe there is no security for this model that locked some hardware.
So please guys want to help me how to understand it,any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
> When I press F12 for boot priority I can't find any CD/DVD drive, but running in Windows I can find the DVD player and it can normally read any CD.
The whole story seems really strange to me
If you access the BIOS, you can see the details of the CD/DVD drive? The drive is recognized properly? If not then I guess that the STRANGE inserted is not totally compatible due to different master/slave/c-salt settings.
> but running in Windows I can find the DVD player and it can normally read any CD
It s also strange to me so that the CD/DVD drive appears in Device Manager even if the CD/DVD drive Startup menu option does not appear. But first check the BIOS

Satellite L20-100 can be started from a USB external hard drive?
I recently bought Toshiba Satellite L20-100 and I wonder if:
1. is it possible to boot this machine from a disk usb external drive?
2. it is possible to attach another internal hard drive?Assuming that the two answers above are 'no', how can we solve the following problem: I need hard drive space, I need to launch 3 systems of separate Wxp operating on the same machine (Toshiba Satellite L20-100).
You are right. The answer is no. Only thing you can do is to create 3 partitions and install on each a favorite OS. Using the Boot Manager, you will be able to choose one that fits in the beginning upward.

How to get the computer to boot from a USB?
I use offline windows Defender. Start the computer to the USB you need. How can I get the computer set up to do this?
my computer is a HP Pavilion e9100z.
Thanks for any help
Hello
We will determine if your PC can not even boot from USB devices. Plug the USB and turn on your PC. When you get to the HP splash screen, then start typing the escape key to bring up a boot selection menu. If you do not see the USB device then your PC can't boot from a USB device.
If your PC does support booting from a USB device and then read this MS post article.
You always have the option to start Windows Defender from a CD or a DVD.

Re: Boot from external USB HARD drive Toshiba 320 GB (MK3259GSX)
I have PC (Windows7, SATA HDD, without CD/DVD drive), netbook and Toshiba External USB HDD 320 GB (MK3259GSX). Can I boot from the USB HDD? (to install OS or diagnostic tools like Memtest, MHDD etc..)
I tried:
1 format USB HDD, create the FAT32 partition and make active, copy the files, for example, ISO image of Windows 7 (I also tried bootsect/nt60), but when I reboot and choose from the menu of boot USB HDD it stops after "Verifying DMI pool data".
2 Grub4dos (http://grub4dos.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php/Main_Page), but also had nothing after verifying DMI pool Data given.
3. If you want to install Windows 7, I tried this tool, http://store.microsoft.com/Help/ISO-Tool, but it did not find my USB HDD.Sorry for my English.
Has your computer laptop USB boot option?
Anyway, is unclear to me that you can use this disk external DRIVE for the installation of the OS?

Can't boot from USB/dvd drive on Satellite Pro M10
Hello
the broken internal dvd drive, an external USB disk is used. Now I need to reinstall windows on a new hard drive. How can I boot from the external hard drive? (I don't have a floppy drive, but I can't find the right drivers)
Thank you
Luke
Hello
Don t you need all the drivers for this key USB — because the USB disk is a device integrated on your computer. This means that whenever you connect the diskette drive to your machine, the computer establishes that diskette as a cable internal disk and this is the reason why you won´t need all the drivers.
It s already installed when you plug it in.
See you soon

Satellite Pro U400 - Vista boot failure
My 2nd nine Satellite Pro U400 (first a HARD drive failed after 1 week!) now does not start on Vista.
Works very well for 4 weeks with upgrade original Vist Basic to Ultimate and Office 2007.Today on the switch on the Toshiba bar logo (with go to Setup etc.) started then replaced by Microsoft 'bar', then replaced by the arrow of the Mouse/touchpad.
Mobile arrow on the screen of the mouse, but then nothing else, boots.Tried all modes of security and same problem.
Ideas to please or do I have a 2nd 'lemon '!
Hmm. I don't know if this problem could be related to upgrading from Vista Basic to ultimate, but nothing is impossible m.
I think the HARD drive is not the problem as you can still start the OS startup.
OK, the OS crashes, but if the HARD drive would be dysfunctional, then you should be able to see the 'bar' of Microsoft. So for me, it looks like something wrong with the operating system and therefore the use of the recovery CD would be desirable.
Using the recovery CD would format the HARD drive, but unfortunately I really t see any other possibilities for the laptop running again.
Good luck

Can Satellite Pro U400-13I - I reinstall the CD/DVD creation software?
Hello
Can someone help me with my problem.
I have a Satellite Pro U400-13I and use XP he. As I experienced some problems with the creation of CD, I decided to uninstall and reinstall.
However, I am unable to find the program to install only the software above without having to run the XP DVD recovery (which will format the entire HARD drive), I have a lot of data and some third party software that I do not want to miss, so is unable to format the drive HARD rightaway.Would appreciate a solution
Thanks in advance
SJWhat program you mean exactly for creating CD/DVD?
If you mean the Toshiba disk creator I think it can t be downloaded. I checked from Toshiba Web site but I can't find it.
But you can use another program to create CD/DVD, for example Nero or CD Burner XP (freeware).I hope I could help a bit.
